    Bulgogi fried rice
    Mark S.

I really liked this modern take on Korean food. The flavors were executed very well with a new modern approach while still maintaining the classic Korean flavor profile. The banchan was amazing. It paired really well with the spicy garnishes. The bulgogi fried rice had great flavor, and the bottomless tteokbokki was an amazing touch. Our dessert of the Dalgona tiramisu was the perfect way to end this great meal. The service and ambiance were both solid, and overall this place is excellent.

Great pub food! We sat in the back in a small sectioned off room so it made the service a bit hard to get to but overall it was a great experience. The food we got were all very good and would recommend all of it! I liked the corn pancake a lot but it was pretty flaky.

Cod udon is the best here. The shaved ice drink is also amazing!! Service is great and LOVE the unlimited tteokbokki!! Not too loud; good to bring friends yap, enjoy vibes and the food!

Complimentary and unlimited tteokbokki?!!! say less!! Dining at take 31 was pretty affordable for korean food. Everything came out to be around $35 per person including the tip. The standout was definitely the braised pork belly. Great portion for the price and sooo flavorful. Very tender and just has such a nice bite to it. I love the amount of green onions they give you. The short rib chapagurri was pretty good especially mixing the egg in and the flavor of the short rib was just soo good!

Came here with one of my girls for a holiday dinner, and the vibes were absolutely lovely. I believe walk-ins are allowed, but I'd definitely recommend making a reservation to avoid a long wait--while we were there, we saw quite a few people waiting outside. The food was amazing, and you even get free tteokbokki and fish cakes with your meal! The bossam and Korean fried chicken were definite highlights. I loved the service, loved the energy, and loved the restaurant overall. Will definitely be back!

Great atmosphere, great vibes, great food. Hard to critique anything! The Pork Belly Rice Crepe wowed my whole table so much that we ordered it again. Highly recommend. The Seafood Udon is super delish as well. Had to lick the pan clean. The chestnut makgeolli is a delightful sweet (but not too sweet) drink. Not a typical flavor you see but it was surprisingly good. The banana has a very natural flavor but the chestnut just hit the spot.

One of my favourite restaurants in K town. Staff are super nice and friendly, and it is easy to get in for table of 1. However, the restaurant is crowded when you get in. Once you order an entree, a dish of tekbokki was served, they are pretty spicy and you can get unlimited of them!! I have ordered the Short Rib Chapaguri, the noodle is chewy and the sauce is sweet. The dish is even amazing with the diced short rib. It is such a great comfort food.

Second time here to celebrate a friend's birthday - we had to spend $35 each for a group of 7. It's a small, but cozy spot. We got a few diff items from the menu to meet the minimum, but the highlights to me were the crispy corn pancake & the cajun seafood fried rice. The fried rice had a great flavor to it and I was pleasantly surprised since I didn't have any high expectations for it. Everything else we got was just ok for me flavor-wise. Service was good, they let us bring in our own cake without paying a cake cutting fee, but they couldn't store it, which was fine.

This was a nice, casual spot for Korean food for dinner. It has a fun, lively vibe but wasn't too overwhelming or noisy. We ordered the Garlic Crust & Spicy Chicken and the Cod Roe Udon. The portion of chicken was more generous than I was expecting, but I've definitely had better fried chicken. It was relatively crispy, but lacked the umami kick I look forward to in KFC. My friend really wanted to try the cod roe udon, which I was initially iffy about at first since I'm not a huge ran of cod roe. However, it wasn't fishy at all! The udon was cooked nicely and the cream sauce wasn't as overpowering as I expected. Overall, pretty solid food but nothing super special. They let us take our time with dinner, and we didn't feel rushed at all.

Cod Roe Seafood Udon. $23.95. They liked it

I went to this popular Korean place which is from the folks behind Her Name is Han next door along with a whole lot of other Korean restaurants a good while ago as per most of my recent reviews. By comparison to next door, the inside is more industrial looking which is a unique touch and while Han does nice versions of Korean classics, this place does more spins on food from Korean Pocha/drinking culture. The food by comparison here is a bit heavier and a bit richer but I liked it as well but I have preferred some other spots. I believe, though I lack a photo, that I shared a bottle of Chestnut Makgeolli with someone else and liking it a lot. The one banchan they give is excellent consisting of Ddukbokki, or rice cakes served in this case with eomuk/fish cakes which had a good chew and a good spice to it. My favorite of the food overall was the Pork Belly Rice Crepe Wraps for $25.95 consisting of grilled pork belly covered with toasty injeolmi and soybean powder and served with homemade pickles. The fatty pork belly pairs really nicely with the chewy rice crepe on top while the injeolmi and soybean powder add some sweetness and nuttiness. The pickles help with the richness and overall, it's fantastic. We also liked the Crispy Corn Pancake for $15.95 which consisted of a sweet & savory pancake with corn, cheese & Cajun powder. The sweetness from the corn wass balanced out by the salty cheese with the powder adding a nice little kick. Sure, it's a big greasy but it's delicious and I would recommend it. The Spicy Soft Tofu Soup/sundubu jjigae had Korean chewy noodles, beef finger ribs, shiitake, Korean chives, and a poached egg was large and tasty. The flavors were more bold by comparison to SGD with the beef inside being tender and well flavored. I'm not that surprised that their jjigae are good as the the best dish next next door are usually said stews. The other people seemed to enjoy the popular Cod Roe Seafood Udon for $23.95 consisting of udon noodles sautéed in spicy cod roe cream sauce with shrimp, squid and clams which I couldn't eat due to my cephalopod allergy. They complemented the chewy noodles and liked the sauce and overall compared it nicely to the various mentaiko udon spots. The Spicy Short Rib Lasagna for $25.95 with braised spicy short rib, lasagna, and Japanese pumpkin with bechamel gochujang sauce topped with blended cheese had and interesting mix of spiciness and sweetness almost like Yangnyeom chicken though I would say a bit more sweet than spicy. It was a bit rich but I liked it and it was plenty big enough to share. The Garlic Crusts & Spicy Chicken for $25.95 with deep-fried boneless chicken tossed in spicy sauce served with crispy garlic crusts was good. The chicken had a good crunch and a bit of a kick though not as much as I would expect with plenty of garlic flavor of course. The Short Rib Chapaguri for $20.95 consisting of Korean ramyeon noodles with special jjajang sauce, greater Omaha short rib, onion, scallion & fried egg sounded better than it tasted. This version of chapaguri, made famous by Parasite, had a lighter jjajang sauce than I'm used to being not as salty or rich compared to places such as Hyo Dong Gak among others which was surprising as the rest of the food was so bold. Also with beef was the Bulgogi Black Garlic Fried Rice for $15.95 consisting of fried rice with bulgogi, black garlic oil, and scallions. The fried rice was a bit small compared to the other dishes but was tasty with a hint of sweetness and richness coming from the black garlic and bulgogi. I wish there was a bit more beef but it was good enough. We also got the Rolled-up Cod Roe Omelette for $18.95 consisted of Korean-style rolled up omelette with cod roe & cream sauce. I wish the cod roe was a bit stronger in the dish but the egg was nice and fluffy. It was alight overall. Both this and next door have faults but also a lot of merits. If you're looking for richer food and don't mind a less spiced/complex flavor palate, I would recommend this place. However, if you want more unique flavors, Her Name is Han is better along with spots such as Hojokban and others. As I prefer the latter, I prefer their other restaurants but this is all palate and I certainly preferred the food here over other pochas (will have to compared to Dangol soon however.) Mid 3 rounded down for general quality as nothing truly wowed outside of the pork belly.

Nestled in the outskirts of ktown, we happened to be waking by when we saw the menu outside and were instantly drawn into the small nook and cozy feel of Take31. We left our name and were called back soon after but there was actually quite a wait after that because people were still at the table we were going to be seated at - it would be nice if it were more accurate with the call back timing. The dinner starts off with some tteokbokki as the banchan served. We ordered the roe omelette which was actually very nice. Not too fishy, with roe inside and out. Soft, warm, and smooth. The seafood roe udon was our favorite dish. Creamy with a light clam/roe flavoring, would definitely get again when coming back. It comes with a couple small shrimp pieces in addition to the larger one, some squid?, and a few clams. I usually don't like udon but this was an exception! The pajeon was ok - it comes with rice shrimp chips on top which in my opinion take away from the dish more than it should. It's like covering a pizza with potato chips, there's no need! It would've been fine without it - still not bad, though makes it extra oily. They have a new dish that is basically a deconstructed pizza - with beef, tomatoes, kimchi and cheese on top. This was ok - the taste was good, but the cheese was not as cheesy as we were hoping to start. Overall, really good with some things falling short of amazing but honestly the udon was so good would definitely come back.

Not my first time here but def a spot I always come back to when I'm visiting the city. I came on a weekday without reservation and had to wait about 25mins. They text you when the table is ready so was able to walk around while waiting. We got the crispy corn pancake, pork belly rice crepe wraps, cod roe seafood udon. The corn was sweet and crispy. The pork was a good mix of salty and savory from the pork and injeolmi powder. The rice paper wrap added a chewy texture. The seafood udon was creamy and the roe added a nice texture to each bite.

I was a little wary of eating here with my friends, so I was notttt expecting this place to be this good. every dish was extremely flavorful and piping hot. the meat was so so tender in every dish we ordered. I especially loved the short rib ramen dish we ordered. absolutely loved that we got free Tteok-bokki. was pretty spicy but the texture and chew was perfect. a little disappointed in how small the portions are, especially considering the price point. service was speedy, tho! they also let us sit down and start ordering despite one of our friends not being there yet.

Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. Nothing felt greasy, heavy or too salty. The flavors were balanced and very comforting. We ordered the pork bossam, kimchi pancake, and chicken kalguksu. The pork was tender and had a clean flavor that really let the quality of the meat come out. The kimchi pancake was topped with a poached egg which was interesting.... Personally, the poached egg addition wasn't really for me, but my friend loved it. The pancake itself was crispy flavorful. The chicken kalguksu was exactly what I want when I'm craving comforting and warm food at 11 PM after watching a musical. The broth was light but flavorful, and the noodles had a good chew. We got the large beef combination platter which comes with ribeye, thin skirt, brisket, marinated kalbi, and marinated chuck flap. Most people stuck with water, while a couple got ginger ale. I ordered the soju flight but I ended up not liking it so my cousins shared it. The meal comes with different veggies as well as your choice of soup. We got the spicy tofu and split it 6 ways. The spice lived up to its name, so I didn't eat very much. The best part was meat. Despite there being 6 of us, there was plenty to go around. I think you have the option to cook it yourself or have them cook it for you and we chose the latter. While I enjoyed it, I wish there was more space. Most of the space was taken up by the accompaniments that come with it (veggies, etc), so there was hardly any room to put anything else. It didn't help that none of our dishes were cleared once we finished them and that no rice is included. Aside from that, both the food and service were great.

We walked into a stylish but relaxed space that feels suited for both casual dinners and a night out with friends, with an atmosphere that balances energy and comfort well. The room gets lively when it fills up, but the noise level adds to the experience rather than detracting from it, making it feel like a place built for sharing and conversation. The food is where Hojokban stands out. The complimentary banchan sets the tone for the meal with flavorful sides that add variety before the main dishes arrive, each one thoughtfully prepared and offering a different texture or flavor profile. The gomtang soup is one of the more comforting options, bringing together tender meat, a rich broth, and classic Korean flavors in a way that feels hearty without being overly heavy. The galbi dishes are also a highlight, with the meat cooked well and carrying the sweet and savory balance that makes Korean-style grilled beef so enjoyable. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients is noticeable across the board. The menu has several unique dishes worth exploring. The truffle potato pancake is one of the more memorable items, combining a familiar Korean staple with a richer, modern twist that adds depth without losing the essence of the original. The perilla oil noodles are another standout, offering a lighter but still flavorful option with a distinct nutty aroma that lingers on the palate. The beef tartare adds a more refined element to the meal, fresh and well seasoned, while dishes like the ramyun fried rice bring a fun comfort food element with bold, savory flavors. Together, the menu covers enough ground that you can build a meal around both familiar favorites and more creative choices. Service is friendly and the overall experience feels welcoming rather than overly formal. The staff are attentive without hovering, and they handle the busy flow of the restaurant with a pace that keeps the meal moving without feeling rushed. The menu is designed for sharing, and the portions make it easy to order several dishes across the table, allowing you to try more of what the kitchen has to offer. The lively atmosphere adds to the meal, making it a good fit for group dinners where the energy of the room matches the pace of the food. Hojokban does a good job blending traditional Korean flavors with a more modern dining experience. It is a place where you can come for familiar comfort food while still finding dishes that feel creative and different. If you enjoy Korean cuisine and want a restaurant with a little more personality, this is a spot worth checking out. One of my guilty pleasures / comfort places to visit is BCD Tofu House. I have been coming here…read moresince I was a student and it doesn't disappoint. The food tastes good, the lunch prices are reasonable and honestly they have better ban chan than a lot of other places. (And where else are you going to get a full fish as a complimentary ban chan?) When you go you just have to get one of the soon tofu. It is their iconic dishes We ordered: LA Galbi Seafood soon tofu Tripe soon tofu Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the soon tofu.

The servers kept things moving but with very minimal interference and no extra visits; we would have liked a little more attention when we finished some of the banchan and kind of expected they would be replenished, but we certainly were fine without it. And the entrees were delicious and even with other tables almost on top of each other it never felt crowded due to partitions that I saw them remove for some larger groups needing tables "together", and I never felt part of someone else's dinner convo. Presentation was amazing and food was delicious - Soon Tofu Soup with seafood for me, which arrived bubbling like a cauldron. It came with a raw egg that you crack into the soup and let it cook to your level of doneness. Hubs got hot stone bibimbap and as we all know the crispy rice is the best part of it... it's just tough to separate it from the actual stone dish so you can eat it, especially if you wait until it cools and fuses. If I was there with more stomach space I wanted to try the galbi, and in fact there's a weekday lunch combo that could facilitate that.

The Ssambap Set was incredibly satisfying. The beef was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the fresh lettuce wraps, rice, banchan, and soup. Every bite was well-balanced and packed with flavor. We also ordered the Mixed Katsu Set, which was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and cooked to perfection. It came with generous portions and made for a comforting, filling meal. The restaurant has a modern and welcoming atmosphere, the staff was friendly and attentive, and everything arrived fresh and beautifully presented. If you're looking for a delicious Korean lunch in NYC's Koreatown, Jeong Yuk Jeom is definitely worth a visit. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu!

Soup and Banchan both receive high marks for how good they taste. Also ordered a separate beef short rib lunch special, the rib was cooked to perfection and the sauce applied was very flavorful. Servers were friendly and mostly attentative, restaurant decors and cleanliness of interiors and bathrooms were quite good. Would come back again next time in the Herald Square area.

The galbi-jjim was perfectly tender like I could literally pull it apart with my chopstick. The addition of the rice cake, pumpkin, and pyogo mushroom were a nice touch. The soy sauce base was a little sweet and if you take a bit and pour it over the mushroom sotbap, it is soooooooo good!!!!!!! The mushroom sotbap is so umami. There is foie gras in it which maybe be in a little overpowering for some people but I really enjoyed it I could easily eat a whole bowl of their freshly made kimchi. It was perfect. Not too salty or spicy or fermented. Literally perfect!!! I actually asked for seconds. The cold cucumber broth was really refreshing Highly, highly recommend making a resy!! There's a main dining room and a mezzanine. I sat at the mezz and got an amazing view of the main dining room. Service here is amazing. The only thing that I thought was a bit of a shame is that there's a $10 cake cutting service PER PERSON, if you wanted to celebrate a birthday. We got their fried chicken, beef tartare, 2 galbi jjim, and their bossam. Everything was phenomenal. While I think we could've skipped the chicken, the galbi jjim is a must-try. Cocktails are also great here. Amazing dining experience, food, ambiance, service, and I highly recommend.
