The sushi here is good quality at a great price. They are quick and have good service. The inside is not large but there is a decent amount of seating.

Bill and paying cash. You save 10%. It is a no brainer.

2/27/28 - it was packed. We arrived at 6pm. I was shocked. This place is usually dead. The food is 5 stars. The service not as good. We entered and only one table left. I arrived with a party of 3. As we waited by the cashier to be helped. A couple walks in behind us and walks between the register and the long bar. A person walks behind the bar and asked how many to the newly arrived and sits them. As they did this, I told them we were here first and they just arrived 5 minutes later. I told the employee and the couple they can go after us. They sat the couple. I was in shock. We waited 15 minutes for a table to clear. We almost walked out but our child wanted to eat there. We ordered food, no issues with the service and left. May never come back here ever again because of this. We travel the world and never thought this would happen in Santee. I will tell everyone I know about this experience. 5 stars for the food, -4 stars for poor performance in allowing other diners to be seated after arriving guests. We sat at table 5. See photos of food. Over all experience was a 1 star. -4 stars for allowing a party to sit before us. Just amazing!

    Chicken Teriyaki Dinner Entree

Have been coming to Takka for years - have definitely noticed a decline in quality of food. Tried the Teriyaki Chicken tonight and was served subpar, chewy, clearly gross presentation for food. The chicken looked like it was old, reheated in the microwave, and slapped with some sauce. Tried to cut into it and it was so rubbery I couldn't even cut it. Our server was understanding and immediately apologized and removed from our check. We ended up leaving - sad to say we won't be back. Mediocre food at best and sadly, plenty of other sushi spots with better quality in the same vicinity. Wish I could give it another shot but I was so grossed out by this meal I cannot step foot back here. The restaurant is clean and staff is friendly, but unfortunately not enough to get us to come back.

We came here after the pho place next door was way too crowded. I enjoyed the sushi and thought the fish was fresh. I had them with a Saporro and they provided a chilled glass. The service was a bit slow for my liking. Could have been an off night or something. I'd still come back for another try as the sushi was darn good.

Chill spot, great food, decent prices. Our new go to spot near home for some yummy sushi!

This was a while back but it's the shrimp tempura roll and one of the baked rolls, spicy tuna rolls! Yum!

I love the prices and the quality is still good! The service is fast on most days, and they always refill your water constantly. Perfect spot for lunch as they have specials and their sushi rolls are 50% and 30% off daily. The place is on the smaller side but there's plenty of booths to accommodate you. The seats do need to get fixed up a bit as some of them are covered with tape.. lol but if you're by yourself, the bar seating area is great. My favorite rolls are the Rainbow and the Spanish roll- which is pretty much a classic lemon roll! Fresh on the palate and they are very generous with their cuts of fish. You usually don't expect much from a sushi joint all the way in Santee but this place is special and I've been going for years!

    Rainbow roll, hot lips

We went for a Friday evening dinner. We got tempuras for appetizer, Hot Lips roll, Rainbow roll, and a spicy baby scallop roll, and a miso soup. My husband got a sapporo too. We got seated right away, food came out quickly and the prices were so reasonable! All together I think the total was about $71 (not including tips). Can't beat that!

Went out to eat with my family and they wanted to go here so bad because Kung fu tea was next door lol they have a discounted sushi menu but expect to get discounted menu looking & tasting sushi as well. My parents got the bentos and I tried one of the tempura veggies and firstly, tempura is usually lighter shade of brown and these were definitely burnt and tasted like it too. I do like how the discounted sushi are tinier so it's great if you want a snack without breaking the bank. Their specials aren't too bad either. I will say that the service wasn't terrible it's just that after we got our drink order taken, the server goes to the chef and says "I think I'm getting sick, my throat is itchy" like come on now lol I don't need a sick person serving my family right now Overall/ 2.5 stars+ the people were nice, we got served quickly, and didn't get sick.

    Ring of fire

Our usual sushi place in Santee was closed, no explanation as to why. So Takka sushi was the closest place showing 3 1/2 stars. So we thought we'd give it a try. I ordered the ring of fire, and the volcano roll, as well as some hot green tea and some sake. The green tea and the sake were good, but they also brought out a pretty pathetic little dish of wasabi and ginger. I asked for more wasabi and they brought it. Karen ordered the chicken teriyaki dinner. The dinner was very unimpressive. She barely ate any of it. I really liked the ring of fire., It was very tasty. The volcano roll not so much. You had to cut each piece of the roll in half just to get it in your mouth. It was too big to eat even for me and I'm not a small guy. I wasn't very impressed with the taste either, but it wasn't terrible. One of the irritating things about this place is that they served us both at different times I want my food brought out all at the same time for everybody otherwise people feel rude, eating in front of everybody else that doesn't have anything to eat. That's just wrong wrong wrong. If it wasn't for the volcano role being so tasty I'd give this place two stars. But they took good care of us, came to check on us several times while we were eating, so three stars and not too. But there are better places to eat. I'm sure if you want some sushi. I did enjoy my sake and my green tea, and I tasted some of Karen's miso soup, it was just average. Not the first place I go eat sushi but not the last either, I've had a lot worse.

A bit torn given the health violations listed on yelp and wait staffs lack of interest. Torn despite these issues, Sushi was fresh. Cream cheese wontons were delicious - creamy and full, not overly doughy. Volcano, happy and Philadelphia rolls were tasty. Only questionable item was the spider roll. For me it was a bit too fishy tasting. Super crowded hole in the wall location but we were able to get seated relatively fast. 10% Discount if you pay cash. Some items have a discount , make sure you get the discount when the check comes.

I guess I'm echoing what other long term patrons have already shared. I don't see any of the lovely staff there. It feels less friendly. I used to tell other people to come here for the salmon sashimi, which was the best I had ever had... creamy, and thick generously slices. Not now. Yes, it tastes great, but the slices are very thin, almost translucent, yet the price is the same. It used to be presented on a bed of salad, with wasabi and ginger. Not anymore. Just 5 thin slices on a black platter. We had to ask for wasabi and ginger. The miso soup has barely any tofu in it. And they didn't have any beer - none at all. I think their license expired. The one server was pleasant but wasn't checking to see if we needed drink refills etc. There were literally six customers, including us. It feels like the new owners think some updated decor, which is actually nice, is all that is needed, and they can cut corners to save money elsewhere on food costs and servers. That road will only lead to closure. Tragic, really.

We chose to sit at a 2 seat table where there a long couch on one side and chairs on the other side( you share the couch with the table next to you. I immediately noticed how crowded the restaurant is and how the regular chairs were made to fit a smaller body type. As a larger person, I sat on the couch side (which was hard to get out of without disturbing the table next to us). I did notice when we were seated that our table looked a bit dirty with something stuck on it. I ordered a ginger ale and my husband got a water. We ordered the prawns Roca for our appetizer, it was very flavorful. I ordered the Rainbow roll and my husband ordered the El Ranchero roll. My rainbow roll was very filling and had an interesting tangy flavor, similar to miracle whip My husband loved the el Ranchero roll. He really liked the unique Mexican Japan fusion flavor of it. Overall, we were happy with the food but not happy with the price. We felt it was definitely not worth the price. The knly way we'd come back is if we took advantage of the happy hour special someday.

About 10 minutes later, another waitress came over asking for our drink order, and we let her know someone had already taken it but hadn't come back yet. We were seated at a hibachi table and most of us ordered the filet mignon medium. The steak itself was tasty, but there were SO many garlic pieces on top, it was honestly a lot of garlic. The fried rice was okay, nothing really special, just egg, rice, and butter. We all received vegetables except my brother-in-law, and unfortunately nobody noticed or fixed it. The restaurant also felt a little dark and cramped inside, especially once it got busier. What felt awkward though was that by around 4:30 PM, the manager came over and basically told us they needed the table because they had more reservations waiting. We were already finishing up eating, but it had only been about an hour since we sat down. For a party of 8 on Mother's Day, it just felt rushed since most places usually allow at least an hour and a half. Overall, the food was decent and the hibachi experience was still fun, but the service and feeling rushed at the end made the experience a little uncomfortable.

We were not greeted by an employee at the hostess stand and finally sat ourselves. It took 15 minutes for a server to greet us and ask for our drink order. Once he arrived for our drink order we put in a small food order to test out the quality of proteins. It took 40 minutes to get two hand rolls and one albacore sashimi order. The order took so long to arrive that once it did, we quickly put in a specialty roll order before trying the hand rolls. The specialty roll came out in two minutes flat, I did see a roll sitting on the sushi bar before we ordered. I believe we got someone else's roll because I asked about the long wait times. After the roll was delivered a server came over to our booth specifically to make a snarky comment, he said "you're lucky this was fast, people wait 1 hour for this on Fridays." The restaurant was clean, had a neat wall painting and the parking was free, those are the only positive experiences from our visit. The sashimi was dry as if it had been sitting out not properly stored. Hand rolls were mostly rice, the only protein is what you can see in the pic - gone in one bite of a 4 bite roll. The specialty roll was average. This was a very unpleasant experience, we will not go back and will not recommend to friends/family/yelpers. It should also be noted that we went on a Sunday afternoon and there were 3 sushi chefs behind the counter, 3 servers on the floor and 1 host. Hard to understand why the wait times were excessive and service was poor. Our server did acknowledge that the service was slow, however, he did not offer any apology, he just shrugged it off.
