My boyfriend and I were set on having sushi on Friday night. We drove to Konnichiwa and saw that Farmers Market was going on so got turned off by the parking and crowd situation. So we decided to try the new Tappi Sushi that newly opened at the old Oyster and Pearl Bar restaurant location. On the way there we passed Kawaii Sushi and thought we'd give it a try instead. It was about 6ish when we sat down so we had almost an hour before HH ended. Cool! I appreciate later HHs...so that's a plus. We ordered the Garlic Edamame, Fried Calamari, Gyoza, and Eggrolls off the HH menu. The server was nice and attentive. The appetizers came out fairly quickly. We then ordered 2 sushi rolls once we got the apps. I unfortunately had nothing good to say about any of the apps we got. See my comments in each pic. I hoped the rolls would be better but they really didn't win us over either. Boo! Once we got the bill we realized we didn't know what was so 'Happy' about the HH....there were no prices on the HH menu. I looked up the prices on website and compared them to the bill...at best it was like $1 off each appetizer but not all of them despite the fact that the items were specifically on the HH menu. This place is really special! The food is amazing, but aside from that, the service has always been exceptional. I'm usually there around 4pm with my son after school. He is two years old and there is a little kid's table with a tea set and fun toys for little ones to entertain themselves while the adults eat. Today our server, who I believe is the owner, went above and beyond. She treated us like family, gave my son a free dessert, and gifted him a little toy when he was upset that we had to leave. I was excited when a sushi spot opened up close to my workplace as I absolutely love sushi and was hoping it would become a favorite for a quick and healthy lunch. I noticed that some of the reviews date back several years ago, but I've only seen this location open up around a year ago. So far, I have been there twice, both times for takeout at lunchtime. The restaurant is clean and food has been ready for me both times when I walked in. The restaurant itself looks like it would be a nice place to dine in and is deceivingly large as compared to how it looks on the outside. The staff was friendly both times, though I didn't linger and chat either time. I did notice that they have free candy and sometimes small toys for children near the entrance. The menu is relatively large, and they serve a lot more than just sushi. At my first visit, I ordered the chef selection sashimi. I definitely enjoyed it, but I do feel that it was a bit overpriced for the size. At my most recent visit, I ordered the sashimi salad and a tuna hand roll. The tuna hand roll was was fresh and tasty with a good texture. I was not as impressed with the sashimi salad. It was coated in some sort of creamy sauce that took away from the fish in my opinion. Luckily, it wasn't too thick or heavy, but because of the sauce, I couldn't tell what kind of fish I was eating. All in all, it is a nice clean, casual place with fast service. Some food items are better than others. I will probably try a could other menu items in the future. In truth, I would give this place 3.5 stars, but I chose to give 4 instead of 3 because I would return and I hope to find some other menu items that I enjoy. read more

We love it here! Food is delicious and everyone is just so nice! This is also a very child friendly restaurant, which as a mom with a really fussy toddler, I appreciate greatly. Stopped by for lunch at Kawaii Sushi and glad we tried this place out. We ordered the lunch special which comes with miso soup and 2 items. I chose the salmon skin roll and chicken teriyaki and my husband chose spicy tuna roll and chicken teriyaki as well. The rolls were tasty and just the right portions. The chicken teriyaki was alright but nothing that Sriracha can't fix. Forgot to take photos of the food because we were starving and dove right in when the food came. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Price was cheaper than other sushi places we've been to. Parking was a breeze and parked right in front of the restaurant.
