Great ramen! We're just out of the movie and wanted something good for the soul. This place checks all the boxes. We tried a ramen bowl w spicy miso broth, and maybe the best edamame we've ever had. They not only season it perfectly but the sauté it. We had the short ribs which were nice and tender. Best part, they are so very nice. Shout out to Valentina, for taking such great care of us. Came to Hyshinu Ramen, Sushi & Poke with my husband and left feeling... meh, but not mad about it. I'm a total sushi addict so I'll pretty much eat it anywhere, but I could tell the fish wasn't the freshest. It wasn't fishy or bad by any means--just not super fresh. Ordered a rainbow roll, salmon hand roll, and the Rancho San Diego roll. They were decent, perfectly edible, and satisfied the craving, but nothing I'd go out of my way for again. My husband got a poke bowl and actually really liked it--he finished the whole thing! Service was fast and friendly, place was clean, price well any sushi place is expensive. Me and my wife are moving to the area and looking for new places to eat, this was our first spot. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and were given menus to decide. The owner was very nice and gave my wife a taste of something she was debating on ordering. Overall everything we ordered was great. we got a poke bowl, the lemon roll and some spicy garlic edamame. My favorite item was definitely the lemon roll but overall everything was delicious. Besides the service being great it was definitely clean and a welcoming environment. When it comes to Ramen...there are just so many good Ramen places here in San Diego that I have really high expectations. This place was just ok for me. Not my favorite. My wife and I tried this place out on a weekday night. It's located next to the Rancho San Diego movie theater right next door to two places that we go to all the time. We finally decided to give this place a try. I need to start this review off by saying the staff here is really friendly. From the order taker to the lady who served us, they were great! Customer service is right on! As for the food... We tried the Pork Ramen Bowl with Tonkostu broth and the Chicken Ramen with Shoyu broth. Both come with all the usual toppings and you can modify as needed to your tasting. The serving size is a good portion. Probably even a little bit more than some of the other places. However, both of the different broths that we tried just missed it on the taste. Both of them were just bland and really lacked the flavor. The same was true for the pork and the chicken that was in the ramen. No real flavor to either of them. It wasn't terribly bad...but also not very good. In addition to our ramen we also ordered several appetizers. And order of vegetable and chick gyoza, an order of Shrimp Tempura and a California roll. Of the three, the gyoza was the best. Perfectly cooked and crispy. The California roll did not look very fresh. The colors of everything inside of the roll just looked off. We didn't even end up finishing the roll. And lastly, the shrimp tempura was not what I expected. The breading on the shrimp was not crunchy and when you bit into it, it was just soft. Overall, not my favorite. Hyshinu was my lunch time destination after running an errand in the El Cajon area. The suite was located next to the movie theater in the Rancho San Diego Towne Center which meant parking was not an issue. The seating capacity was less than 50 customers which included the countertop adjacent to the kitchen preparation area. Ramen, sushi, and poke were featured, however I wanted noodles for my meal which is what this review will be about. You started by choosing one of three meats (beef, pork, chicken) before deciding on one of six types of broth. Beef as a protein for a ramen bowl was a rarity. I chose pork, but unfortunately my top two picks for broth (Hybrid Black, Fish) were unavailable so I settled for the Premium Shoyu. Each order included a soft boiled egg, green onions, bean sprouts, garlic chips, corn, red ginger, and seaweed. I excluded the garlic chips but included the rest of the toppings. The bowl took a while to be prepared even though it was not particularly busy. After waiting around 15 minutes, I received my food which was a reasonable portion size for the price tag. The slices of pork were a disappointment as the meat was chewy and not melt in your mouth soft as I have tasted elsewhere. The remaining components were fine. For the quality of the ramen product I tried, my rating of Hyshinu was a middle of the road three stars. read more

I was hoping this place would be atleast mid since it's very close to our house. Any other ramen spot is easily 20 minutes away. Had the food been atleast mediocre i would have been very happy because of the locations. Sometimes you crave ramen and just don't want to drive into town. And the food was just bad. This was our second time coming. Gave it a second try since it somehow had a lot of 5 star ratings. Will give it three stars cause the people that work there were nice. The toppings included green onion, corn, sesame seeds, etc. There is seating outside and inside, consisting of linear seats against walls and free-standing tables. I'm such a ramen girl and this place just wasn't it. I have my top 3 favorite spots but a friend wanted to try this place since we were close by. I was starving, so agreed. Maybe they are known for their sushi and poki but the ramen just wasn't good. The chicken taste like teriyaki chicken and it was burnt, the broth didn't taste good maybe it was a mix of the teriyaki and tonkotsu broth I also added (fireball) to make it spicy. First timer here! Walked in and grabbed a menu, if you want pictures of the meals scan the QR code (very helpful). Ended up getting a Gigi fire roll(delicious) yellowtail poke bowl(very delicious) and the chicken/veggie goyza. My friend got a salmon poke bowl as well. Everything was very fresh and very tasty, not bland and just thrown together. Valentina was very sweet, checked on us a couple times and made sure everything was great with our meal! I don't know if I just got them on the worst night they've ever had, or if this is how it always is at Hyshinu. But this was the worst Japanese food I've had in a long, long time. The "tempura" was not that. It had a heavy, thick batter that was overly moist and greasy - completely different from the delicate, light, crunchy crust tempura is supposed to have. The rice in my sushi was noticeably undercooked and even had some crunchy bits. Maybe my mistake was doing a pick-up order? Maybe they only do good noodle dishes? I don't know. The place is clean and the staff friendly. We ordered spicy garlic edamame, very good!! Then my husband had a spicy salmon roll, he felt the fish was small for the roll but the taste was flavorful. I had to try the Rancho SanDeigo roll , it had a lot going on. I liked it but won't order it again if we go back. My husband ordered the 2xtuna roll that was good and very interesting.
