Mmmm one downside is that the basic rolls are very tiny but they've kept the prices at a reasonable level, so I really don't expect more about those. the sushi is solid, i've reordered multiple times -- however, if you are using a food delivery app, they will increase prices randomly if you're a returning customer. previously, i ordered uber eats here for seared salmon nigiri for $8. now, it's almost $12. crunch roll was $14 now it's $21!!! the submarine roll was also previously $18, now it's $27!!!!! the way they are changing the prices dramatically is wild. i totally understand the up-charge from restaurants on these apps, so it's expected to see $1-3 increase on regular in-store menu items. but it seems like they will just increase by almost $10 randomly? idk. that's too much and doesn't make much sense at all. so probably avoid using food delivery apps to order from here because the prices are always changing and by a LOT. This place is small, kind of hidden on Fletcher Parkway right next to the "Michael's" , this is place have few seats inside solely for the fact that they are a take out based restaurant. Going in for a quick bite you probably won't mind but if you looking for a place to have a nice lunch and spend some time in conversation... get to go. First time at Narumi and wow! The quality of sushi was so worth it to be such a small establishment sandwiched in a Michael's parking lot haha First off, parking is in a shared plaza, perfect for the "take out" aspect. I didn't care for the online ordering option, so I walked in on a Saturday night to order. The menu is posted in the window which was very convenient! There were so many people walking in and out, putting in orders / picking up orders. They do a lot of business. We ordered 4 rolls and it took about 30 mins. They were carefully packaged which was so appreciated, & delicious. Inside the restaurant there is limited seating, I'd say maybe 10 seats total? This is an interesting setup here. It says takeout only but you can sit inside. There are two tables and then counter seating. No sushi bar seating. No table service. Order, pay, sit down. They do bring the food to you and there is self serve water and you bus your table. No frills sushi at its finest? Everything is served on paper plates or takeout containers. Is that bad? Of course not. But if you're looking for fine dining this isn't it. The staff is friendly. The place has its fan base bc the takeout orders were nuts. We've been here twice now so we do like it. We do sit inside. Rolls are standard at a fairly good price. We do the usuals like rainbow and spider rolls. On the recent visit we tried their karrage curry and yellowtail collar. Hidden gem in El Cajon! My sister and I ordered a few rolls from here and they were delicious, my favorite was the Godzilla roll! Parking was tough as it is in a busy/high volume shopping center. Additionally, this is essentially a takeout spot only! There is barely any sitting/waiting area inside so do not expect to dine in! Lastly, a bummer, I ordered a roll to sub salmon instead of tuna due to not being able to eat that and they said they could accommodate but when I got home it had tuna so I couldn't eat that roll and my sister did instead. This place is one of my favorite places in San Diego to get fast and cheap sushi! It is only takeout but they do have tables if you wanted to quickly eat your take out there too. I've always seen this Narumi on Yelp with it's high and many ratings. I never knew it was located in a plaza next to my son's football practice field. I've been to the other location in Lemon Grove plenty of times before they closed down and changed ownership to Hinata. So I basically anticipated it tasting the same as the old Narumi in Lemon Grove in which it did. There's really no seating but I saw a lot of people getting takeout and they have a menu posted outside so you can see what you want before entering. They have the same extensive menu and inexpensive prices. I wonder if Owner EPAY knows what goes on at his restaurant. The sushi is still excellent (though not inspired as it once was) but my main concern is the general lack of effort. When I called my order in, the woman on the phone was mostly unintelligible and did not seem to care. When I got to the restaurant to have my order as a dine in, the servers attitude was lackluster at best. I am sorry I left any kind of tip electronically . And as always, the Signs with hand written messages to the diner such as "don't leave trash on your table", "put recycled cans and bottles here", are all filthy. They've been there forever and nobody ever cleans them evidently. There is a general attitude of not caring about the restaurant. Usually that means the owner does not care anymore. It's a hole in the wall spot, which isn't awful, typically those are the best spots but for some reason, this one isn't it for me. I ordered a crunchy roll and it was the fishiest crunchy roll I've ever had. It was very off putting. I've order crunchy rolls from numerous places before and never have I ever. I also ordered a roll that was fried and I could tell by the coloration of the roll that the oil was just.... Old. A little gem of a Japanese place in Fletcher Hills. Ample parking, rhr place is very small wirh 3 booths. However, the atmosphere is warm asn the staff friendly. We ordered a chicken catsu bowl, teriyaki beef & tempura shrimp bento box, a spicy veg roll, fried tofu fried rice, and one more sushi roll I can't remember. We all enjoyed everything. The spicy veg roll was one of my favorite veggie rolls I've had. It wasn't actually as spicy as I expected but it did have a lot of fresh flavors. Service was friendly and pretty fast. It was pretty busy. The only thing that's a bit of a drag is the place is more or less takeout only. There are a couple places to sit and eat but not much. Also the surrounding strip mall is pretty run down. Other than the small location and the state of the area outside the restaurant I'd say it's worth a try. read more

Thankfully a table was open when I got here on a Sunday during the lunch hour. There's no table service so you order at the register and wait for your food. Their rolls come in cardboard serving bowls for a lack of better word. So how was the food? My three rolls I got were really good. Surprisingly good as a matter of fact. Despite the unassuming atmosphere the sushi chefs know what they're doing and make high quality rolls with fresh fish and other quality ingredients. While this place might not be the typical dine-in sushi restaurant it's a great choice to drop by, grab some rolls to eat at home and watch a movie or even go to a park and have a picnic. Only two tables and a couple of seats by the window are available to dine in, so we saw many customers doing takeout. The utensils and plates are also all takeout making Narumi a casual spot. Spicy Yellowtail Handroll (4/5): Convenient if you don't want to commit to a roll. The yellowtail they use was really fresh here. The spice comes from a spicy mayo so it wasn't spicy at all though. Maki Maki (3.5/5): Salmon and yellowtail are the main fish in this roll. Toppings were loaded with freshly chopped jalapeno and sesame seed. I t was a fresh tasting roll but more heavy from the cream cheese. Truck Stop Roll (5/5): Similar to the maki maki, this also contains salmon inside and yellowtail on top. I liked this one more only because the ponzu, chili oil and green onions were more cohesive toppings. Protein Rainbow Roll (5/5): Very vibrant and lots of fish and toppings in this one! It's a no rice roll so you are getting all the good stuff, shrimp, tuna, crab, salmon, yellowtail, and albacore are all included. Really delicious and does provide all the protein! Overall, I enjoyed the rolls at Narumi and found it to be very satisfying. They do differ from a lot of casual sushi restaurants in San Diego in that their rolls are higher quality and not all with filler imitation krab. There's a big sign that says no table service so you basically go up and order what you want and then sit down and they bring it to you later. That place does so much to go business.
