Our table was also really bad, right in the path of the kitchen which made us concerned about our elderly family member getting hit by a careless server or having food spilled down their back. Sadly I won't be returning. Told us 45 minute wait took 2 hours. Not exaggerating. We had three small kids. Mothers know what it's like. It was busy- and we should have given up sooner, our mistake. Sat for 15 minutes with no server, then walked out. Not that it really matters- but if you use the restroom take a peak into the kitchen. That's a separate issue that should probably be addressed by management. Bottom line? Can't accommodate medium/large groups in a reasonable time and they should probably tell you that before you wait but they won't, so I will. read more

This was a huge disappointment. We had eaten here six years ago at the Aiken Alley location. It was excellent. We were delighted to see it was still there on our trip this year. The service was very slow, not particularly friendly/polite as you expect in the South. I had the stirfry vegetables and it was inedible. My husband first ordered the hamburger and after a very long wait, discovered that they did not have any buns at 11:30 in the morning. He then ordered the pork burrito and it was just OK. We ordered four things. They were out of one. The fried asparagus appetizer was the second. It was very good, but the tough ends of the asparagus should have been trimmed (they were so tough you couldn't bite through them. The third item was potstickers. They were tasteless, but when we asked for some wasabi, that helped. The disaster was the pan-seared fish taco. The fish was a cold grey, greasy lump on a cold doughy tortilla. I think there may have been some cabbage in there. And some old pico. They were just gross. The food is definitely a hit or miss. I think the only reason I was able to give it four stars was the service was really amazing. The margaritas are good and the Shumai was really good. The salmon tar tar was a little chewy and the salmon quesadilla was strangely okay because I could only taste the cheese. However, our server was very kind and sweet. She sprayed the seats and the tables down before we were seated. So overall I'm not unhappy. I am definitely going to go eat something else after this. But the reality is the other customers seem to really enjoy the Mayo and siracha ideal! Which makes sense. Overall, I probably won't be back but I am glad I was here. read more

Ordered edamame for appetizer and it was overcooked, however, the 2 rolls I ordered were very good....Japanese bagel and Tomahawk. Both rolls had 8 pieces and very flavorful. The presentation is beautiful. The hosts and waiters are friendly and I was served very quickly compared to other places (mostly because it wasn't too busy). I LOVE TAKOSUSHI. Honestly I could eat here every night. Aiken location is convenient and service is always great. I get the Crazy Susan with cream cheese and it is always perfect. I love the unique and eclectic atmosphere. I always recommend this place. Augusta and Greenville locations are great too. It's a fantastic dining concept that was so wonderfully enacted I can't seem to get enough. Driving from Charleston to Atlanta, we were looking for a place to eat along the way. In a car of four fussy adults, we found this wonderful little restaurant with a diverse menu that pleased everyone. It was a little bit of a challenge to find the restaurant, as Waze led us to a parking place on a parallel street. We found our way to a former street converted to an interesting pedestrian plaza, and sat down for our meal. Takosushi is an Asian-Southwestern restaurant. Their menu is a mix of Asian and Tex-Mex cuisine, largely segregated, but there are a couple of overlaps on the menu. No matter. You can get an appetizer off one side of the menu, and an entree off the other. Asian: This isn't Japan. This isn't Gloucester or Portland. This is an inland South Carolina town. The sushi was high end for American sushi, fresh, beautifully prepared. The asparagus tempura was also an unusual, delicious choice. Southwest: We asked for chopsticks, and then told my sister to eat her rice and beans with them. Again, this isn't Albuquerque or San Antonio, but the southwest cuisine was fresh and nicely spiced. Not the place for hard-core Tex-Mex fans, but there was extreme joy in being in a restaurant that pleases a mixed dining party of carnivores and vegetarians. They had a nice selection of beer, and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. It is certainly an unusual dining diversion if you are anywhere near Aiken, SC, and its diversity is sweet. read more

This is the place to eat on the weekend for locals and visitors and expect to wait if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. When I go I like to order a special roll they make for me. We had high expectations for this restaurant, having had several locals and tourists recommend it to us. Arriving around 1pm on Friday, September 8th, we sat at one of the outside tables to accomodate or dog, and to enjoy the wonderful weather, We ordered our meal right away. For appetizer I ordered the pork potstickers for an appetizer, with my wife ordering calamari. We both ordered iced tea to drink. I ordered the salmon roll for my main item, with my wife ordering the shrimp tempura. The drinks were delivered, and the pork potstickers arrived rather quickly, but the calamari was not delivered...Instead, tempura asparagus was delivered. We told the server about the mistake, and she said not a word, leaving us and also leaving the tempura asparagus on the table. After a few minutes we once again told the server about the mistake, and she said that she could take the asparagus back, but they were just going to throw it away, and that we weren't being charged for it, so she left it at our table for us to eat. We never received the calamari that we ordered. A few minutes later the main dishes were delivered. The portion size for my salmon roll was small, but my wife's shrimp tempura portion was good sized. We were not visited by the wait staff during our meal until the end, when we were asked if we wanted refills on drinks, which we ordered,...but, instead of refills of iced tea we were served glasses of water. My main dish (salmon roll) tasted flat, with the salmon having no real taste to it. Even after added the wasabe and soy sauce, the salmon roll was not tasty. My wife's shrimp tempura order was OK, but nothing to rave about. After finishing our meal we asked the wait staff to bring the check...Unfortunately, the bill included the tempura asparagus, which we did not order. After a few minutes we got the final, corrected bill. Overall, the food was not of the caliber and quality we expected, especially for the price. The $35+ meal for the two of us was overpriced for the portion size (for my salmon roll, especially), and the service was full of errors in getting our food order correct, providing drink refills, and presenting a correct bill at the end of our meal. I seriously doubt we will return to this restaurant, and would not recommend it due to errors in food service and the final billing. read more
