I LOVE TAKOSUSHI. Honestly I could eat here every night. Aiken location is convenient and service is always great. I get the Crazy Susan with cream cheese and it is always perfect. I love the unique and eclectic atmosphere. I always recommend this place. Augusta and Greenville locations are great too. It's a fantastic dining concept that was so wonderfully enacted I can't seem to get enough. I had once bad experience here at the beginning of the pandemic but I addressed it with the manager and it was dealt with. I will always jeep coming back to Tako. Everyone's food came out so far apart that half were done eating before others came. Never got water for adults. One beer never came. Driving from Charleston to Atlanta, we were looking for a place to eat along the way. In a car of four fussy adults, we found this wonderful little restaurant with a diverse menu that pleased everyone. It was a little bit of a challenge to find the restaurant, as Waze led us to a parking place on a parallel street. We found our way to a former street converted to an interesting pedestrian plaza, and sat down for our meal. Takosushi is an Asian-Southwestern restaurant. Their menu is a mix of Asian and Tex-Mex cuisine, largely segregated, but there are a couple of overlaps on the menu. No matter. You can get an appetizer off one side of the menu, and an entree off the other. Asian: This isn't Japan. This isn't Gloucester or Portland. This is an inland South Carolina town. The sushi was high end for American sushi, fresh, beautifully prepared. The asparagus tempura was also an unusual, delicious choice. Southwest: We asked for chopsticks, and then told my sister to eat her rice and beans with them. Again, this isn't Albuquerque or San Antonio, but the southwest cuisine was fresh and nicely spiced. Not the place for hard-core Tex-Mex fans, but there was extreme joy in being in a restaurant that pleases a mixed dining party of carnivores and vegetarians. They had a nice selection of beer, and the waitstaff was friendly and attentive. It is certainly an unusual dining diversion if you are anywhere near Aiken, SC, and its diversity is sweet. read more

They have the best sushi in Aiken but it's just okay in my opinion. I'm here at least once a week because I like to hang out at the bar. This is the place to eat on the weekend for locals and visitors and expect to wait if you go on a Friday or Saturday night. When I go I like to order a special roll they make for me. Shrimp, crab, avocado, and massago wrapped in cucumber with ponzu sauce on top. It's very light and refreshing and great for newbies who haven't had sushi before. read more

We had high expectations for this restaurant, having had several locals and tourists recommend it to us. Arriving around 1pm on Friday, September 8th, we sat at one of the outside tables to accomodate or dog, and to enjoy the wonderful weather, We ordered our meal right away. For appetizer I ordered the pork potstickers for an appetizer, with my wife ordering calamari. We both ordered iced tea to drink. I ordered the salmon roll for my main item, with my wife ordering the shrimp tempura. The drinks were delivered, and the pork potstickers arrived rather quickly, but the calamari was not delivered...Instead, tempura asparagus was delivered. We told the server about the mistake, and she said not a word, leaving us and also leaving the tempura asparagus on the table. After a few minutes we once again told the server about the mistake, and she said that she could take the asparagus back, but they were just going to throw it away, and that we weren't being charged for it, so she left it at our table for us to eat. We never received the calamari that we ordered. A few minutes later the main dishes were delivered. The portion size for my salmon roll was small, but my wife's shrimp tempura portion was good sized. We were not visited by the wait staff during our meal until the end, when we were asked if we wanted refills on drinks, which we ordered,...but, instead of refills of iced tea we were served glasses of water. My main dish (salmon roll) tasted flat, with the salmon having no real taste to it. Even after added the wasabe and soy sauce, the salmon roll was not tasty. My wife's shrimp tempura order was OK, but nothing to rave about. After finishing our meal we asked the wait staff to bring the check...Unfortunately, the bill included the tempura asparagus, which we did not order. After a few minutes we got the final, corrected bill. Overall, the food was not of the caliber and quality we expected, especially for the price. The $35+ meal for the two of us was overpriced for the portion size (for my salmon roll, especially), and the service was full of errors in getting our food order correct, providing drink refills, and presenting a correct bill at the end of our meal. I seriously doubt we will return to this restaurant, and would not recommend it due to errors in food service and the final billing. read more

This was my second visit to TakoSushi. Again, I was not disappointed. I don't usually eat seafood, but this place does it in such a way, that I really like it. It was a little busy this time as there was some sort of art show on the street going on. Mixing tacos and sushi isn't so bizarre but I'm thinking the Mexican food was hopefully better than the sushi.... which is what they are "known for". A very nice sushi restaurant in downtown Aiken's "the Alley". I am not a huge sushi fan (so I can't go 5 stars) but they have something on the menu that everyone should be able to enjoy. Besides the very authentic sushi, sushi-mi, and whatever else you call it (I call it bait!); they have an interesting array of other offerings, including mexican tacos and nachos and a variety of other seafood items and other dishes. I just had the Firecracker Shrimp today and it was awesome! Breaded and fried shrimp tempura with a couple of zesty sauces drizzled on the plate. The ladies I was with were both eating sushi rolls and pieces of raw fish laying on rice...they claim it's the best - I couldn't say. (lol) It's classy enough and stays very busy during the week at lunch with the downtown crowd. A nice selection of beers, wines and full bar too. Outdoor seating available. You'll have to park out on the street (Newberry, Park, Laurens, etc.) and walk into the Alley to get there but it's worth the walk! read more

Today...the TakoSushi was not great. The service has been all but poor for a dead Wednesday afternoon. Took 15 min to bring a couple of drinks because waitress was talking with another at shift change. The cold glass was ideal, but dirty so We looked at the drink for awhile before giving up...cleaned the glass with a napkin because waitress nowhere to be found. The food was brought out at the same despite ordering an appetizer, salad, and meal...fighting the flies was excessive because of all brought at once. The cucumber salad is normally crisp and flavorful but not today. The salad was awesome, best around Aiken anyway. The salmon and goat cheese quesadilla needs to be taken off menu...mushy, salty, and no flavor. Is an unpleasant downward trend in Aiken as of late...the "staples" are turning into sub-par feed bags where the goal is to turn tables as fast as possible disputes the lack of diners. I am not a sushi lover. That said this little chain found in the Carolina's rocks. They have awesome sushi and more, much more. Their tempura selections are savory and abundant. And, they even have several versions of tacos. I really do not know how to explain their cuisine. I guess it's considered fusion. All I know is it is all yummy. Great service too. We love this restaurant. The food is great and last night our server was wonderful. Here is our complaint. Around 8:15 p.m. the staff started cleaning the restaurant. The dining room is small so it was easily noticed. They started sweeping around tables, turning up chairs at empty tables, and wiping everything down with a strong smelling cleaning spray. I asked our server what time they closed and she said 9:00 but they were closing now (8:35). Since the dining area is small, it was very off putting to have someone sweeping and stirring up dust as well as trying to enjoy our dinner while chairs are being turned up - quite noisy- and bleach smelling cleaning spray is being used. I get that everyone wants to go home on time but if you close at 9:00 and tables are still seated enjoying dinner 30-45 minutes prior, maybe wait to do the heavy cleaning and closing procedures until the dining room is cleared. Again, we love this restaurant for the food and service but last night was not a great experience. read more
