Authentic Moroccan. We came inside because it smelled so good. We had the Harira, Mixed Grill Kabob, and the lamb shank tagine with couscous instead of fries. Everything was seasoned wonderfully, even the rice was unique and delicious. My favorites were the chicken and the couscous. Fantastic service, I felt like a guest in a Moroccan home. Both the food and service are amazing here! My wife and I had the Hummus for appetizer and we each had the Lamb Shank Tangine. If they have it when you visit, definitely order it since it is high in demand and they sometimes run out. The Moroccan tea went well with our meals. If lamb is not your thing, I recommend the Kefta Tagine. Absolutely delicious! Finally, the coffees they serve are great. If you like Turkish coffee/black coffee, try the Marrakech. Amazing Moroccan cafe/restaurant that's tucked away in a plaza. I just came back from Marrakech Morocco and there was Zero drop off in taste... it's exactly like the food in morocco. They just opened a month ago so it pretty new. Owner Hamza is super friendly too. All the Tagines (dishes) have different flavor profiles so it's worth it to try the different ones. We got a notification from yelp about a new restaurant and had to run out to try it. My husband had the lamb which is the biggest piece of lamb I have ever seen in a restaurant. He thoroughly enjoyed it. We also got the cold sampler appetizer which was delicious. The hummus was zesty and fresh. Everything is made from scratch at the restaurant, even the tahini. I had the shrimp tagine and it was delicious and a wonderful experience. The owner just opened the restaurant about a month ago and it is his first. Please go and try everything you can. He's a very nice young man and service was perfect. I hope the restaurant grows so he can open in a much larger space. He has some beautiful Moroccan decorations on the wall. One of the very few Moroccan cuisine in town. This is a very small restaurant with only a few tables, but it's in a corner, and the glass wall made it feels opened and comfortable. The food was interesting, not too greasy and not too salty, the bread is freshly made and came out fluffy and soft. They also have Baklava, which has the perfect sweetness, not too sweet. We catered a lunch from Taktuka - it was amazing. The hummus was fresh and tasty. The baba ghanoush had a smokiness to it that was addictive. The salad was a perfect combination of flavors. The chicken tagine and vegetarian couscous were amazing - each dish was more flavorful than the last. We finished off with the baklava and while I would not typically choose baklava off a menu - I could not believe how good Taktuka's baklava was! You will not be disappointed - you can't go wrong with anything at this restaurant. Plus you will meet the owner Hamza - and he is a wonderful person. read more

My friends and I are doing an around the world culinary experience in Chicagoland and this is by far the coolest experience we have had so far. Due to the intimate size of the restaurant, we had an almost private dining expeience. The owner took time to recommended dishes and teas for us based off of what each of us was looking for and within our dietary restricitons. And I must say, everything was delicious. We had Charred Vegetables for our appetizer which was spot on delicious. Our entrees were the Chicken Tagine and the Lamb Shoulder. We recommend both. For dessert, we both ordered Baklava. A very small quaint restaurant in Darien in a small strip mall off Plainfield Rd (former space was Chiba Sushi a few years back). Although the space is small the walls are decorated with all things Moroccan. Owner is self taught serving dishes he's perfected over the years & served to his family. We started w/ the Moroccan tea (Atay) very flavorful & served in beautiful ornate tea pot & cups. Taktuka sampler was the appetizer to get us started & Mogador Salad w/grilled chicken was fresh & delicious (generous portion) another popular dish is the Lamb Shank Tagine which was tender fall off the bone served w/fries & prunes (a tasty sweet/salty for the palate) ALL delicious!!!!! Ended the meal with the Baklava which is made by a pastry chef but NOT overly sweet at all. Happy my brother & I tried this restaurant based on all the Yelp reviews that had me intrigued to try Moroccan cuisine. I definitely will be back to try other items off the menu!!!! read more

We visited Morocco 1.5 years ago and miss it terribly. We often long for the friendly hospitality of the country and (of course) the mint tea. Recently we visited Taktuka Morocco Restaurant in Darien. It was a most friendly welcome from Hamza the owner as we walked in the door. The place was small (just the right size), clean, and decorated with enough of a hint of Morocco in order to bring back all of the best memories of the country. The food did not disappoint. The portions were plentiful and seasoned perfectly. I recommend ordering the mint tea. It is served from a traditional silver Moroccan tea pot. Don't forget to ask Hamza to pour Moroccon style. The appetizer sampler and tagines were perfectly spiced and authentic tasting. I highly recommend Taktuka. We will definitely be returning even if it's just for a quick mint tea and the excellent service. read more

Never had Moroccan food before, so thought we would give it a try and it was good. We stayed simple and started with cucumber salad that my partner loved because of the fresh mint. Then we had kabobs, beef and lamb, both of wich we loved. Meat was seasoned and tender. And loved the fresh vegetables that came with it. Finished the meal off with Baklava and the owner recommended some tea which paired well with the dessert. Owner was very nice and establishment was very clean. Nice discovery, will definitely return! This was my introduction to Moroccan food so can't compare it in that way. All I know is everything was tasty and it was a very satisfying meal. What I had was full of vegetables, was flavorful and filling yet wasn't oily. Hamza took our order and was very helpful in explaining the food and made us feel welcome. The lentil soup was peppery and delicious, the Mogador salad was fresh and great with the tahini dressing. The roasted beets were really good too. My friend had couscous with lamb and vegetables and said it was very good. It's a fairly small place but there are some tables for eating in, which we did. I also saw some people come for takeout while we were there. There is a large window and I felt a little cold near it so was glad to warm up with the hearty soup when it arrived.
