Had a wonderful experience here today. First time trying Talitha Coffee and it's a hidden gem. Chelsea was so sweet and was clearly busy, but did a great job at greeting us, letting us know she'd be right with us, and getting the drinks out to us promptly after ordering. It was quite impressive the way that she was working so hard and had such a great attitude. She also cleared our plates and mugs and was very on top of service. The Matcha latte was delicious, I asked for very light honey and she made it exactly as so. The latte was especially delicious as well. We also ordered the big breakfast burrito, which was fantastic, definitely bang for your buck. Very filling and I loved the lime slice edition with the green salsa. The hashbrowns inside were very good and it was just a great burrito. Cute ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating. Limited indoor seating, so we sat outside which was totally fine. I would say this is a hidden gem, because I must have passed it 20 times in the one year I have lived in San Diego without even realizing it. The store is located in the middle of an industrial complex on Morena Blvd just by Costco. I stopped in here with about 2 hours to spare in between errands and appointments and got an Americano and a breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. I arrived early enough that I had the whole place to myself, which made for a nice one-on-one experience between myself and barista. So much so that he was in the kitchen for so long putting together my burrito that some guy walked in and walked out without getting served his coffee. The competing customer's pacing back and forth and yelling for the barista's attention really exposed his obvious addiction for caffeine. The cookies looked homemade but I resisted, so I can't speak for them. There's also an apparent coffee academy here. I'm not sure what that's all about, but I'm sure it involves learning. read more

Cold brew is $10...not kidding. Staff also cleans everything way too early and will let you order AND PAY before saying "never mind the decaf is all shut down for the day" and have to refund your order without offering so much as a complimentary tea or something for wasting your time. I've been impressed with this coffee roaster that took over the previous West Bean locations. I think they do a really good job roasting the beans and every latte I have gotten from the locations I have visited have been delicious. They also have a nitro Arnold Palmer that I'm definitely going to get one of these days The branding is super cheerful, I love the colors. This location has a small interior space and then a nice open patio. The gentleman working suggested the breakfast burrito so my friend and I split it. It is solid! I also thought that the green salsa that came with it was perfect. A little bit spicy and a lot of flavor. read more

Stumbled upon this coffee shop after a visit to Costco across the street and it was adorable! the staff was super knowledgeable, kind and very patient with me (I ask all the questions when going to a new coffee shop- what they recommend, where they source their beans, etc). I've been here once before in a group setting and it was not bad. It was a weekend afternoon and I recall getting a croissant sandwich. This time we were in a bit of a hurry and wanted to grab a quick bite. I'd thought I'd pop in and grab something really quick. There was no one else there and I checked before if it would take long, she responded no. Ordered a breakfast sandwich and added bacon on sourdough. That's it. Would've liked something on a croissant again, but there was nothing like that available. The sandwich took way longer than anticipated. When we asked again if it was going to be much longer? Another employee responded, she's just packaging it up right now. We thought great. Nope, not quite. We ended up waiting another 5 minutes. Quick it was not. Took almost 20 minutes... to toast bread! Definitely was not expecting that! If you want to grab something super quick then maybe get a ready made pastry. Otherwise pass on grabbing a bite. This is a belated review of the WestBean roastery. The founders, James and Andrew, have moved on to other things, but James speaks well of the new owners, Talitha. I'm anxious to see how things progress. ********** I stumbled into The WestBean Coffee Roasters several years ago, wondering what such a place was doing in an industrial park. What they were doing was roasting "micro-batched hand-crafted coffee," sourced from co-ops and private growers in Africa, Central America and Southeast Asia, including Papua New Guinea. How they were doing it intrigued me. Like a couple of mad scientists, the owners, Andrew and James, toyed with heat and timing to bring out the best in each batch of beans. As they explained to me, no two batches taste the same, and the flavor changes as the beans expel gasses, and the types of beans they'd have in stock might change, so the experimentation was continuous and the results were wonderful. Like a lot of people my age, I grew up on Maxwell House. It's what my folks drank, so it's what I knew. In my twenties, I discovered a roaster near my apartment in Washington DC, and together, we created a blend of beans I liked, but of course, that guy went out of business, because no one bought coffee beans in the 80's. I eventually found other sources for beans, but mostly, I got lazy and turned to Starbucks, where my coffee always tasted the same, because, to quote Andrew, "Burnt beans always taste burnt." But thanks to The WestBean Coffee Roasters, I once again had options, which meant learning new things, which frankly, made my head hurt a little bit, because, in my middle to senior years, I have enjoyed the easy-coasting comfort of already knowing everything I need to know. For making me do homework, I cursed James and Andrew, and I cursed their peppery, syrupy, floral and jungle floor, monkey butt beans. Just kidding. They were the two nicest guys ever to roast a coffee bean, and they were patient with a newbie, and helpful, and kind. Once, I texted an order for more beans to Andrew, reading: "I'd like to pick up coffee in the next couple of days. Can you arrange a pound each of Honduras and Malawi? And a pound of whatever you think I might enjoy?" Can't do that at Starbucks. read more

I have been here 5+ times now and have really enjoyed the various espresso drinks I have ordered (I especially love the "Oh Snap!" which has a really light ginger flavor.) The team members I have ordered from and chatted with have all been extremely friendly. It is also light and bright inside and I like that they have a side patio with shade umbrellas. It feels like a great neighborhood joint. I also truly appreciate Talitha Coffee's business commitment to helping sex trafficking survivors via hiring/training/support. I'm doing this review backwards from recent experience first. I have been here 3x now. I gave it another chance this week and went there again. There was a gentleman waiting in line and I thought he was helped already. Nope. No one was there to take orders. Another gentleman came after me and waited and then another one. The other gentleman left after waiting about 5-7mins for someone to come out. Finally, after waiting for about 10mins someone came out. I ordered a bagel. There were no tables open inside so I sat outside. After waiting for another 10mins for my bagel, no one came out or called out. I went inside to check and my bagel was sitting on the counter the whole time! I said to the guy that took my order, "did you call bec I didn't hear you call" and he waited 5 business to say "oh sorry!" I was so irritated. What's more irritating is when I saw the bagel. It's like cafeteria bagel. My bagel was already cold by the time I got it. It's very disappointing I was so sad when WCB closed and when I found out they're opening up new coffee, Talitha. I was looking forward to it!... but that excitement changed when I first went there to get coffee. (June 2025) First, the woman that took my order was probably in a bad mood. Didn't crack a smile. It looked like she was bothered or something. I thought maybe she was having a bad day. I just brushed it off and got my coffee. The 2nd time (August 2025) I went, my kids wanted to try their açaí bowl. That was few weeks ago. No one was there to take our order. But we waited because the kids wanted some breakfast. When someone finally came out, the same unhappy woman took Our order. It seemed like she being forced to work. She wasn't very friendly. Last thing I'd like to see in the morning is a grumpy face. Gone are the days when you are greeted with a smile. Customer service is dead, at least at this place. Their pricey coffee is mediocre and customer service (or lack thereof) are the reasons I will never go back there again. read more

Good amount of space inside and very clean. It was relatively quiet with some nice outside seating if you want some sunlight or fresh air. I added salted caramel to a chai latte with oatmilk and adding the salted caramel was the best decision! The sign said the kitchen was open...it wasn't, so the only thing available were the pastries sitting out. I don't think I would have cared if I hadn't had worked out next door prior to. The staff is nice and service is quick (though there weren't that many ppl there when I was there so the judgement might be a bit biased on this). I got turmeric latte in coconut milk. It tastes awesome! My husband tried and liked it as well. He said he could taste cinnamon in it. I don't really think so but anyways it's good. Downside is that it seems like they only offer one size. Price is a bit high for a 12oz (I believe it's 12oz) drink for needing to pay over $8. The location is not the best. It's kinda at the turning corner of the liberty station market so it's not a place to sit down and enjoy. More so grab and go type of coffee place. I wouldn't mind coming back to try out other coffee or drink if I am nearby again. read more

My buddy and I wanted some quick coffee nearby and came here. Plenty of parking nearby for customers only so no complaints there! The interior was aesthically pleasing with high ceilings and lots of natural light. They roast their own coffee here which was available to see from a distance, very cool! They also have nice outdoor seating as well. I ordered a chai latte 16 oz with oat milk and it was overall pretty good 4.25/5 for me personally but it could have been a little sweeter. They do have sugar packets to sweeten your drink more at the pick up counter. The employees here are very nice and friendly but the price of my chai $7+ killed me inside :( If this place could lower their prices a bit I would truly rate this place at least 4 stars but for now 3.5/5. read more

They have a lot of seating indoors and a good amount of tables to sit at outside as well. The decor inside have a cool, minimal vibe. A pretty good coffee place with some outdoor seating on Morena along the warehouse area. The inside was nice and spacious with the coffee roasting area in back. I had a cold brew with oat milk topping and my wife had their version of the Caramel Macchiato. Both were good and worth a trip here. Their large is like 16 ounces and I would like them to have a bigger size (the Venti Starbucks version would work). Staff was nice enough but not super friendly. read more

Top tier local coffee roaster in San Diego, very underrated. Stop in and treat yourself to amazing coffee. They make my absolute favorite blend for espresso, Sweet Sussex, you have to try it. Also, their decaf coffee is really good which is hard to find. read more

Westbean on Morena is by far the best of their locations. My go to is the salted caramel with oat. It has a creamy texture and is amazing iced and hot. When served hot the drink has thick velvety foam (even w/oat milk) so nice to sip on a cold day. The breakfast sandwich is so good too, try the chipotle mayo! Parking is never an issue and I have never waited in a line of more than a couple people. The inside is clean, modern and quiet. Great place to study. read more

We waited for 20 minutes (without anyone else in line) just to place our order, only for them to forget half the drinks and both the sandwiches that were ordered. Had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the food. From what I heard it sounds like the others around us were in a similar boat with missing food and drink items. The food and coffee were good but I've never been more disappointed in a coffee shop staff. What a let down. read more
