I'm not an experienced coffee drinker, but I thought that the iced pistachio latte was just alright. There wasn't really anything special, but it was still decent, just not worth $8.50 imo. The ambiance is great but my friend and I were both disappointed by what we ordered. My friend ordered the affogato and there was a dead fly in her ice cream/espresso drink. I ordered a small chocolate and coffee gelato and I was very surprised to find peanuts in my gelato. Luckily I don't have a peanut allergy, but that is super important to list on the flavors label. The place is super cute with lots of seating. There's indoor and outdoor and it has a lovely vibe to it. The place is very unassuming from the outside. I got the raspberry mocha iced latte and it was absolutely heaven. It was on the sweet side and I normally don't like drinks that are too sweet but this was so good. I also got the Nutella and banana crepe and it is huge. I could only eat half of it and brought the other half home. And they do not skimp on the banana or nutella. My friend has a vegetarian got the egg toast and she was very disappointed. The bread is dry. They don't even butter the bread. No sauce or anything. On the top of the egg is some arugula and then a little bit of a balsamic drizzle but she said it was very dry and bland. For about $14 she said she will never get that again. At least they butter the bread come on it's not that hard. It is street parking only on garnett. Since we're far enough away from the beach parking is not difficult. It's also free parking as there are no meters in this area. You should be able to find parking relatively easy. The service was just okay. read more

One of my favorite cafes in PB! The coffee is delicious and they serve it to you in mugs in you ask, which automatically ups the taste of any coffee. Great lattes! The food is also incredible. Heard great things about this place and finally stopped by -- it didn't disappoint! There's plenty of indoor seating, which is perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Street parking is a bit limited, so plan ahead if you're driving. We ordered the iced caramel and vanilla lattes -- both were smooth and refreshing. Stopped by while my wife was shopping nearby. Best espresso pull ever. My feedback to Elixir, after walking back in once I sipped the coffee outside was "phenomenal". No trace of the usual mild bitterness and even a touch "sweet". Perhaps it was a lucky grind and tamp, but the quality of my double shot was so good there's probably enough leeway that you've a good chance to always grab an excellent cup of espresso here. I wanted to grab another shot a few minutes later while walking back with the wife to the car, but she reminded me of my cutting back on the caffeine. :-) read more

My expectations were high because the Elixir in La Jolla is really good. This one was very disappointing. Nice place, very clean and variety of spaces, artsy gallery style. Beautiful curated furniture and plants. Perfect. However, this was by far the most terrible nutella crepe I have ever had in my life. Really bad. When served appears huge but didn't match the flavor. It was really salty and the dough tasteless. Even the Nutella didn't take like the real thing. I thought it was just me being there and having a horribly tasting capuccino. So I took the rest of my huge crepe to go). I almost vomit at home, again super salty and tasteless. What a waste of money. Also I asked the girl serving about the donuts and she told me that they sit there for like 5 days. Hell no more. read more

I came by twice during our weekend trip and enjoyed all of our espresso drinks including the hammerhead and caffe mocha. Of note, the food is not to be missed as the chicken pesto flatbread turned out to be massive, beautifully presented, and most importantly, airy and derricious! In the area and was looking for coffee and a treat, a quick Yelp search turned up Elixir and I happened to be across the street. I didn't see any spots in the few street spots out front so I parked across the street by CVS and walked. I was greeted by a man and woman who were so kind and friendly and answered a few questions about their "Screaming Goat" espresso. I was so delighted to see the entire pastry case was gluten free and many items were vegan too! I ordered a Cold Brew with a splash of oat milk and a gluten free + vegan chocolate donut, to go. I quickly glanced around the place while I waited on my drink (which was ready quickly). It's open air with a handful of indoor and outdoor tables, most if not all were taken. It looks cute and quaint, and was clean from what I could see. The cost was fair, $10 for what I got. The cold brew was a bit bitter for my taste, but strong. The donut was really tasty - well done! Wonderful coffee shop in Pacific Beach that is away from the craziness of the beach area. The noise level is good, more on the quieter side allowing for a perfect study spot. The chairs are comfortable and there are plenty of outlets around. The service was spot on with the baristas being patient, as I was reviewing the menu for my first time here. I didn't try any of the foods, so I can't comment on that but their cold brew was fantastic. They use something called "screaming goat" espresso. The interior is beautifully aesthetic and modern with a swinging seat. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, along with a bathroom. Parking is street, but there is an entire parking lot across the street where I parked (not sure if allowed to or not), but my car was fine after four hours. Highly recommend!! read more

I've been here once before to try their gluten free baked goods, which are delicious. This time I came for a couple of hours to work. I found a great seat on the patio, which was a nice little oasis. I definitely did not feel like I was right on the busiest street in Pacific Beach. I ordered the avocado toast and the screaming goat espresso. The toast was a great value for the cost, coming with a lot of avocado and eggs but also had good flavor. My only complaint is that with my cup of Screaming Goat espresso, which did have great flavor, also had grounds in the cup that were not pleasant. read more

I have been a fan of Elixir Espresso Bar since they first landed in San Diego years ago, and my experience here at this new location in Pacific Beach was no difference. On this visit, I had a two shot cortado with whole milk and the almond toast. The toast came on a quality multigrain toast and a good amount of almond butter. A little more of that almond would of been better. It also came with tasty freshly sliced bananas, crunchy almond slivers, and cinnamon powder. The toast was very good and I would order it again. The cortado was mix. It was definitely robust in flavor and properly served in a class container, but it had rough finish. It was bitter towards the end, so it did not meet my expectation on smoothness. Service was friendly enough. I thought it could of been a little more friendly and welcoming. My husband and I came to Elixir on Saturday morning for the first time. There was no wait and we were greeted by a young gentleman who said he started a few days ago. He was kind and friendly. We ordered the white mocha raspberry ($7.95) and the Mexican mocha, both iced with oat milk. Both drinks were amazing. The white mocha raspberry was my favorite. We were so impressed that we went back the next day. I ordered a drink that wasn't on the menu (Raspberry matcha w/oat milk)and they were happy to make it for me (pricey at $8.35). My son got the strawberry gf donut and it was delicious! Nothing like a traditional oily donut. More like a cupcake consistency. My only complaint is the cost of the lattes, as other coffee shops like Holsem, include oat milk and their drinks are $6.25.
