TASK: Remove existing backsplash and countertop and install a new backsplash and countertop…read more PROBLEM 1: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE COUNTERTOPS. Nothing was covered. All contents of the drawers were contaminated by demolition materials. In addition, during the demolition, the underlayment of the countertops was damaged. As stated in the contract, this was not to be addressed by Granite and Marble Specialists (GMS). Once the island countertop was removed, you could see that a heavy layer of glue remained on the underlay. The installers said that that was not their responsibility. They installed the countertop over the uneven underlayment of the residual glue. This meant that there were up to 1/2 inch gaps between the counter and the underlayment, stretching a span of 108.5 inches. Over time, this will lead to instability and breakage of the stone. The installers forged ahead and installed the new countertop independent of the gaps. The installers were adamant that they had installed the island countertop to level. RESULT: We had to remove the new countertop and have the surface sanded to level before having them reinstall the countertop. PROBLEM 2: NEITHER THE DEMOLITION CREW NOR THE INSTALLATION CREW WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPPING THE BLACKSPLASH AFTER DEMOLITION. This meant that it was the homeowner's responsibility to install drywall and to make sure that the backsplash was level. The backsplash was 1.5 inches unlevel from one end of the backsplash to the other. Thus, in addition to the provision of drywall because the existing drywall was damaged during demolition, we had to shim the drywall to ensure the backsplash was level for the backsplash installation. RESULT: We had to go buy wood, cut it to the specific dimensions and install the new underlayment for the backsplash. IN SUM: GMS provided what the contract stated, an installed countertop and backsplash. It was not stated in the contract that it be level or that it be level to the degree that it was level prior to the new installation. The installers showed it to be level because the countertop was 108.5 inches long X 46 inches wide X 3cm deep. So, BEWARE. If this is the type of installation you are looking for, this is the organization for you.

We recently completed a full kitchen remodel, electrical lines expansion, vent shift, LVP…read moreinstallation, and full first-floor painting with ARE Seattle, and I couldn't be more impressed. Amir and Shani are the rare kind of contractors who combine excellent craftsmanship with true professionalism. Their attention to detail was outstanding--from day one, they tracked every discussion point on the spot and followed through to the point. Communication was transparent throughout, with regular photos and an easy-to-follow calendar through an app where both sides have an access to. Only 2-3% of communications on calendar fell through the busy messaging and we had 2 surprise visits from contractors, but comparing to our previous experiences this is nothing :) they always were careful in locking front door and the garage and making sure we are aware they have left if we are home. Sounds like common sense usually but I'm surprised how much this is not followed through sometimes. they stuck to the timeline with only the smallest deviations and the project wrapped up exactly on the 6-week mark--even with added scope as was first estimated by Amir. What stood out most was how they acted as true advocates for us. When suppliers made errors (like cabinet misorders or off-center lighting), Shani stepped in, held them accountable, and ensured it all got corrected--without compromising quality or timeline. Having had a previous experience with a less diligent contractor, I was quietly blown away by ARE Seattle's quality control. During the final walk-through, they noticed and corrected details I hadn't even seen. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just pride in their work. Highly recommend them for anyone who values precision, clear communication, and a team that genuinely cares about getting it right. My personal thank you that in so many renovations I lived through this was the smoothest one.

He and his team were great to work, very professional, and easy to communicate with. When something unexpected popped up, the team was on it to get the solution and work done quickly.
