This place is a breath of fresh air in Mill Valley. It's a relaxing and welcoming large place with different rooms that split up the big place. The main room is a fantastic place to watch sports - big tv's above the bar (beautiful bar by the way) and a comfortable space. The service was great - quick, efficient, timely with checking in. Food was good too - we had the braised beets, onion rings (which I understand are taken off the menu now, so sad because they are the BEST onion rings I've ever had), and halibut. I was looking forward to this restaurant as my coworkers and mural friends in town told me to try this while I'm visiting from work. Here for a week. Let's start with the positive- the Alaskan halibut was such a hit. Perfectly cooked. Everything else wasn't as up to par. I waited for about 10 mins in front of desk. Nothing. Finally was acknowledged after several servers passed me up. Seated and waited for another 10 mins for a glass of wine from the server. Ordered and I was impressed with the flavors of the halibut. 20 mins after finishing my meal- no follow up, another glass of wine (which was great) nothing from my server. Pressed my plate and empty wine glass with utensils and napkin over the plate to show I'm ready... nothing. Stood and located someone to check me out. Complete disappointment for my first meal that was recommend during my stay. Looking forward to trying out more dishes while I'm here and hopefully I'll have a more attentive server. read more

Went last night with 2 friends. Was so excited as the menu had much to choose from. I'll start with the good. The fries were great. I liked the remodel. Now for the bad. The worst steak tartare I've ever experienced. Large amounts of scallion greens. There were large chunks of meat and for me had nothing to do with steak tartare. The cassoulet was boring and lacked any vision of flavor. The chicken salad again....boring. Someone needs to work on their tastebuds. Lacking lacking lacking flavor. Didn't even eat half of the tartare. I could barely eat any of it. When I spoke to our server he acted uninterested in what I was saying. He could see most was still on my plate. You would think he would ask if I wanted something else. Nope. He could have cared less. I say go there have a drink and order the fries. Pretty bad when all three dinners were awful. I would like to add that I called yesterday am and asked for the manager or owner to give me a call. No call back at all. Bad business if u ask me. I go to their other places. Never had a problem. We came here hoping to have a new regular place for casual dining and late night meals. Our experience deeply disappointed; surprised this successful restaurant group missed on so many marks. Food: the menu is a bit of a mixed bag, with limited salad choices. We had 2 small appetizers: the scallops ( cut in half and tasteless ) but the citrus salad, was fresh and nice. We went for the burger to see what this 'sports bar' could deliver. I have to say it was the worst burger I've ever had. Totally tasteless. We asked for salt and pepper, onion, more ketchup and mayo - doled our in small cups, -didn't really help. We never got the onion. It had a partial limp lettuce leaf; a thin partial slice of soft tomato, two razor thin onion pieces, tasteless thin melted cheese and a bun that quickly got soggy and doughy. The meat was as ordered medium rare- but it had no taste and mine had a few bits of either bone and/or cartilage. Service: Waiter verged on over-promoting the drinks; didn't know the draft beer options when we asked for an double IPA, said they didn't have one. - they did. 2nd round came very delayed. Decor: to my trained eye, the renovation felt a bit cheap with in-cohesive spaces. - though intentionally offered different vibes/ seating arrangements in 3 rooms. Thankfully they added acoustic ceiling panels in the great space- as they probably 4x the seating from the previous restaurant. Overall: Not worth it. Disappointing food, odd menu, basic service, and underwhelming decor. read more

Really wanted to love this new local restaurant. It has a lot going for it: amazing space (kid friendly), friendly staff, and appealing menu line-up. But the food...oh my goodness, it was a disappointment. I like salty food, but the matzo ball soup was literally like brine. Even the matzo ball itself couldn't offset the mouth-cringing saltiness, which rendered the dish inedible for me (and I'm not a picky eater). The much-lauded chicken wings were OK for Marin but a dime a dozen at any Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant in SF (i.e., deep-fried, super garlicky, aggressively sauced.) The reuben was the best dish we tried, and it was pretty average. As this is a relatively new restaurant, I do hope the kitchen improves. Will probably give it another go in a few weeks. read more

I was excited to hear Floodwater had opened. Girlfriends met for a drink and LOVED the remodel and the food smelled delish ! Was excited to come back and have dinner with my family. Did so last night ... Sad to report Such a disappointment ! Maybe they just have to work out the kinks but from beginning to end not a good experience . Attractive interior, efficient and friendly staff, but mediocre food. The Reuben sandwich was big with lots of pastrami but very little sauerkraut. The Brussels sprouts were very disappointing . . . soggy and tasteless. The matzoh ball soup was mediocre at best. I'm not a salt freak, but everyone at our table agreed that salt needed to be added to most everything. I'm sure the kitchen will get its act together after a bit more time. It has only been open less than a month. Let's keep our fingers crossed! We want this to be an exciting new addition to Marin's dining scene. read more

We are huge fans of the other restaurants owned by this family, so we were excited to try out their newest one. I'm leaving three stars for now, but we will come back after they have time to get settled in and will try it out again- all of their other restaurants are excellent, so I am sure this one will get upgraded to five stars. The staff was great, the ambiance was nice. The TV's behind the bar are a bit too high to enjoy watching if you are sitting at the bar or the bar behind the bar, but for the rest of the restaurant they are positioned great- we enjoyed sitting in the den/lounge area, which was very cozy with its dark walls and Chesterfield leather seating. The drinks and selection of beer was great. Now for the food. My spouse is still raving this morning about how great the veggie burger was! He said it was excellent, the best he has ever had- and he's had a lot lol... sadly, the pizza I had was probably the worst I have ever had. The crust still tasted doughy. It was chewy and had no flavor... there was virtually no cheese and no sauce on half of the pizza, and the toppings were a bit burnt. I am hoping this was not typical and will improve with a bit more time. I would definitely give this place a try. read more

Been eager to try this place after all the kerfuffle on NextDoor. The layout is completely upgraded from what Frantio was. It's almost unrecognizable. Big TVs, hip atmosphere. It was already a bustling place on I think maybe day two of being open? We sat in the small lounge room near the bar area. Big comfy leather couches like a living room. Overall the place is elevated but not stuffy enough to the point where we felt awkward about having a toddler run around a bit. We just had small bites and I LOVED the Citrus Salad. Threw a curve ball at the waiter and asked if they could make me a 'mocktail' and the boozeless mojito I received was delish. Food was very underwhelming. The garden salad was very basic and felt like they just got a bag of prewashed greens and dumped it on a plate and drizzled some store bought dressing. The cacio y pepe pasta was too creamy and was used with "ramen" noodles. I couldn't finish it. The reuben had no taste and very bland. The bread was toasted well. The food was amazing, I got the veggie burger with the side of fries and it was drop down bussin. The service how ever was the complete opposite. I made a reservation but when me and my party arrived they said it wasn't on the system and they didn't have our reservation. Even after we showed them multiple confirmation emails AND texts from the restaurant with the time and date for our reservation, they still denied that we had one. However, we were lucky as another party canceled so we were eventually able to be seated. The first thing we did when we sat down was warn the waiter that we would be getting separate checks, to which he said ok. When we finished our meal, he only brought out one check. It took HALF AN HOUR to pay because of the difficulty of the check situation. Never in my life have I been to a restaurant that had such trouble splitting a check. The manager eventually had to come out and we ended up having to pay together. Id say if you were coming here for the food, I would 10/10 recommend. If you are a stickler for service, on the other hand, you are better spending your time elsewhere. read more

First impression, wow they have valet! The valet stand was situated in front of a double door. Locked! The actual door is around the corner. Why would the valet be by a locked entrance? Once inside we saw a packed bar with stools so close together patrons had to sit sideways to fit. Ridiculous. We sat in the bar area, not a table but not the bar. Like a second bar with out a bartender. Then drinks were delivered (one of them wrong) but the runner left so quickly we didn't have a chance to grab him and tell him the error. Oh well-up instead of rocks. The food was good but unremarkable. Fries with parm and truffle,Brussel sprouts both good, Rueben good. The Pork Belly buns were fatty.We'll come back and explore other parts of the menu. The service was very attentive (all except for the run away drink delivery). read more

Fortunately, everything about the experience was pretty positive. Service could have been a little faster at some points, but the server was such a joy we didn't mind.. The outdoor space is really nice and super dog friendly. I come after hiking in mill valley and never have to wait. The service is great I'm so happy they stayed open even after covid. Well, I have to say that I can't imagine all these 4 and 5 star reviews. Came in for brunch at 11 and the expresso machine was kaput and the house coffee had been sitting on the heat since 9 am (according to our waiter!) -- we could smell the burnt aroma before our he even set the cups down. I chose the chicken matzo ball soup and have to give them credit: the matzo ball, not an easy thing to nail, was light and tasty. But I had to leave the rest of the bowl uneaten, as the broth was unbearably salty (and I love salt). My companions went for the burger -- rated just ok, nothing special --, and the frittata, which seemed reheated and burnt to boot. I asked for a plate of their "don't miss" fries, and again, so salty they were inedible. I write this not to sink the restaurant, but in the hopes they will shape up. I have been so rooting for a good neighborhood restaurant to replace the well missed Frantoios. The menu sounds good on paper, but I think they need a chef who can deliver a higher level of preparation. read more

Wonderful place and so accommodating. Went there yesterday for a private event and the food looked amazing but I am Vegan. When they found out they made me the best house made Veggie burger and salad. It was seriously so good I ate the whole thing! I highly recommend this place. Really like this new addition to the area. Lively, great cocktails and beer on tap, and the food is solid. We ordered the braised beets, Vietnamese wings, and a pizza. The beets were great, loved the addition of labneh (I didn't know what it was either; had to google it). Wings had incredible flavor, but I think they overdid it with the fish sauce. The pizza had promise, good cheese/sauce ratio and the sauce was great. Unfortunately it felt undercooked. Could've used a bit more char on the top. Will definitely go back read more

Came here for my birthday - my first dinner out in 3 months. The outdoor patio is perfect for social distancing and the food was delicious. Fantastic pizza, very fresh and delicious matzo ball chicken soup, perfect beet salad, really tasty homemade garden burger, great fries, satisfying cocktails and delicious desserts. We had reservations on the back patio; when we arrived, we stood at the empty hostess stand for nearly 10 minutes before we were greeted. It wasn't busy; it was a Monday night. We waited 15ish minutes at our table before anyone came to see us. It wasn't the server, it was the buser. So he dropped waters at our table and we waited another 10 minutes for our server to come see us. He took our drink orders and 10 minutes later he returned with all but one of our four drinks. Forgot one. Fifteen minutes later he comes back with the other drink. He then left to see another guest. We waited another 10 minutes before he returned to our table (we had been there for an hour+ at this point) and we asked him a few questions about appetizers and main plates. Honestly, he didn't seem to know much about the dishes. Big smile on his face, but unfamiliar with the menu. We ordered the fried zucchini as an appetizer, a couple of burgers, a pasta dish and pizza for the main course. Everything came out at once (appetizer came with the meals instead of separately) and the pizza was missing. And utensils and napkins. Ten minutes later, I walk inside and grab a few sets of utensils from a vacant table inside. After returning to the table to distribute the flatware, I go back inside to ask about the missing pizza. When it finally arrived, it was obvious they forgot to bake it with the pepperoni on it because the pepperoni was loose and falling off the pizza. The burgers were ordered medium rare but were very medium and super charred around the edges. Unfortunately, it ruined what may have been a good burger. We had to ask repetitively for drinks -- and then ask again because our server would forget we asked for a refill. It was frustrating because it was so slow -- the other server actually clocked out and left while we were eating, so it's disappointing that on a slow night service was so bad. Our server was nice but did us a disservice -- we won't be retuning. Also, the food sounds great on paper but the meals we got were subpar.
