I visited Tamara Modern Indian Restaurant in Orlando for their lunch buffet, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst Indian buffet experiences I've had. The biggest issue was that many dishes were either empty or missing key ingredients. The Paneer Tikka had no paneer left and was never refilled while I was there. The same happened with the Saag Chicken--the chicken was gone, and it wasn't replenished. Even the naan wasn't refilled for nearly 15 minutes. The live chaat station was extremely inefficient, resulting in a long line. The employee making the pani puri worked very slowly. Each time she ran out, she would go into the kitchen to get another packet of pani puri shells, cut it open, transfer them into serving containers, and only then continue serving customers. After preparing just a few plates, the entire process repeated, causing unnecessary delays. The buffet area itself was poorly maintained. Food had spilled across the serving counters, and while serving myself, some of it ended up on my dress. We brought these concerns to the manager, who was courteous and apologized, explaining that he had been away and things had gotten out of hand. I appreciated his attitude, but it didn't change the overall experience. To make matters worse, there were no bowls available for dessert, so I wasn't even able to try the kheer. The food that I did taste was mediocre and lacked the authentic flavors I expected. Overall, the restaurant fell short in three important areas: food quality, service, and operational efficiency. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Tamara Modern Indian Restaurant to anyone looking for a good Indian buffet in Orlando. read more

Portions were a bit small but the food was tasty! Service was slow, they seemed to be understaffed. Their gulab jamun didn't taste right. I ordered dessert and it took a long time to come, I asked the waiter and he said he forgot to put it in. They should hire more servers so that their staff isn't overwhelmed causing them to forget orders. read more

Best Indian food in Oliver Orlando. I've tried like 10 different places and this is my favorite.

Recently visited this place and was pleasantly surprised. It's located inside The Cambria Hotel and has a modern, lively vibe that makes it a great spot for a relaxed dinner. The food was flavorful with the perfect blend of spices. Everything we tried was delicious, the tikkis, naan, Shaam Savera (spinach kofta in a gravy similar to paneer tikka masala), and paneer lababdar were all excellent and well-prepared. We received our appetizers promptly, though there was a bit of a wait for the main course. The staff was attentive and courteous. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. They also have a branch in Lake Mary, which I'm already planning to check out. read more

Family and I truly enjoyed this restaurant! Its located in Cambria hotel close to Universal. Its a nice small hotel which such great ambiance! Ash was our server. He was very helpful with suggestions. As well as helping my grandma figure out food as she had a ginger allergy. Ordered lavender margarita which was strong and good. I know Ash made it!! Made props to him! Started with pepper shrimp that was full of flavors with the sauce. As a whole, we ordered butter chicken, lamb korma, goat curry and chicken fried rice. Everything was delicious, bursting with flavors. We also added naan to our meals. Which costs $5-9 extra depending what kind of naan you get! Loved the food here. Located in Cambria hotel, Tamara was everything! Lamb biryani is not listed on the menu but it is an item you can order. Samosa chaat was so delish. It's mashed samosas with some chick peas on top, yogurt, tamarind chutney and a few other toppings. If you enjoy samosas, def try this. Our server was Ash, and boy does he have a sense of humor on him. Lol we had a great time and I would definitely return and ask for Ash again. If you like spicy food and want to enjoy it without actually having to drink after every bite, lol I am suggesting you order mild. I took Ash's recommendation. I can tolerate most spicy foods - I love spicy anything. I thought I could handle medium, and maybe I could have but I took his words and went with mild and was so glad I did because it was the right spice level where I get a nice kick but still be able to enjoy my meal. This new restaurant has great potential. What I liked most on my first visit there: - Wide variety and interesting menu. Has all the usual Indian dishes plus many more to consider trying, including some street food type options. Ability to choose your sauce and your protein in a "build your own" style dish. Many bread types available. Many rice dishes. - Ambience - beautiful dining room, very comfortable and pleasant. Comfortable chairs/seating. More upscale than many others. What could be better - and they are new so hopefully these things will improve: - Food quality. All the naans at our table were undercooked. Sauce on one entree was watery/runny, and on another entree had a full layer of grease along the top that should have been removed before serving. Chutneys were ok but not as flavorful as they often are at Indian restaurants, and were a little thin/runny, with no texture. The flavors of the entrees/sauces were good but the textures were off. - Pricing for quantity/quality. Pricing is higher than other local Indian restaurants, but the portions are not larger (are smaller) and the quality on our visit was not better. - Add complimentary pappadam and chutneys. - 20% should be one of the standard choices on the screen when paying your bill on the handheld machine. The variety on the menu is exceptional, and the staff were very nice. Hopefully the food quality and portions will soon match the pricing as they get things worked out in the kitchen over time. I will definitely go back and give it another try and would recommend trying it if you like Indian food and want something different. read more

Tamara is what I would call Indian Fusion, so it puzzles me that some reviewers us the word "authentic", at least in its common usage, as in Traditional. There are some traditional items, for sure, as in biriyani, tandoori chicken, and the sides of dahi vada and pani puri were a happy find... you don't see that on a buffet very often. While all the food was good, and well presented, there were half a dozen dishes that were in an orange sauce. Aside from the nice sides, there was a shrimp biriyani that was quite good, and ditto for the goat curry. The wait staff was very nice, and the room felt very open and welcoming. Given the fact that 90% of the clientele was South Asian, I expected the food to be more "desi". There is also a bar in the restaurant that caters to the hotel guests as well as visiting diners. The Sunday lunch buffet was a bargain at about $18 per person, and the attractive ambiance made it comfortable. I give this restaurant 4 stars. read more

I went with my parents on a Wednesday evening. Reservations was easy by using OpenTable, and it looked like there was a 1000 point bonus for booking that day and time. When we arrived, we were greeted by the host, who helped my dad with parking and seated us in a booth. We immediately ordered the onion bhaji (10 dollars) and lentil soup (7 dollars) for appetizer. They came very quickly. The onion bhaji was nicely fried and had the right amount of spices to bring the flavor. The lentil soup tasted unique that almost had a Thai flavor. I wasn't sure if they add a bit of coconut milk, but whatever it was, my mom and I enjoyed it so much that we bought another one to go. I also had a mango lassi to drink (7 dollars). It could have been cooler with ice, but it was still silky and refreshing with a nice mango flavor. For our entrees, we choose the baingan bharata (19 dollars), the kaju methi Malai (19 dollars), and butter chicken (22 dollars) all medium spiced by default. Both the kaju methi Malai and butter chicken tasted a bit sweet, but still enjoyable. The chicken was tender and boneless. The baingan bharata was, however, the star dish. The eggplant was cooked perfectly in the clay oven and had a nice smoky favor which made it wonderful. The garlic naan we had on the side (6 dollars) was fluffy and had the right amount of garlic to enjoy when scooping the sauces of the curries. We were pretty filled by then, but I couldn't leave without having their Ras Malai (7 dollars). The milk balls were soft and delicious with the milk sauce. It's still my favorite Indian dessert for a reason and they did an excellent job making it. The service was pretty fast and friendly, but a bit rushed occasionally. However, they went above and beyond in helping my dad find a parking space when we checked in, and giving an extra piece of Ras Malai (3 pieces instead of 2 for our order) so every member can try it. The atmosphere is pretty upscale and nice inside a three star/diamond hotel. There is a bar that serves cocktails, but it is hotel expensive. Plenty of booths and regular seats available too. It was pretty quiet such that newer Bollywood movie music were heard in the background. The restaurant is located in Cambria Suites, which is located near I-drive and Universal. Even though parking is reserved for hotel guests, you are welcome to park for free when eating there. The prices are definitely in the higher side as it is in the tourist area, but well worth it. With many new Indian restaurants opening in Orlando, this is a welcome addition near Universal Studios. read more

Excited to try a new Indian restaurant, I came here with my family on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. We started off with gobi Manchurian which was more on the tomatoey side. It was crispy though. For mains, we were intrigued by the paneer methi toast but were sadly informed they didn't have the bread for it as it is not a popular dish so they don't always keep the bread in stock. We ordered the paneer tikka masala and malai kofta along with three butter naans. The paneer was good but I've had better. The malai kofta tasted a little off. While the prices are comparable to the other Indian restaurants in the vicinity, I would probably go to one of the other ones who have a little larger portion and taste. They did give complimentary papadum and chutney. The ambience was nice and service was good. I do realize they haven't had their official grand opening yet so maybe the taste will improve. read more

This restaurant was great! We had the Gobi Manchurian, Tikki Platter, and Chinese Bhel for Appetizers. The Gobi was good, but a little bit on the bland side for my test and a little salty, but still decent. The Tikki and Chinese bhel were absolutely delish!!! We all enjoyed it so much. It was filled with flavor and spice! For entree, we ordered the Deewani Handi which was very tasty! For dessert, we ordered the Cassata ice cream - presentation was beautiful as well as the taste! The service was absolutely exceptional! Everybody is very observant and on their A-game to ensure everything is going well. Ambiance was beautifully. Very modern, chic, and intimate. Overall, the food tastes good. I have 2 issues... 1. The prices are really high, $23-24 dollars per serving for small portions. 2. Mild, is pretty spicy. First off, parking is a pain. The restaurant is on the ground floor. The parking lot has signs for Hotel use only -tow away zone. After a few calls they mentioned that we could park on the other side of the fence in a warn down strip of stores that are all closed out of business. The restaurant is in the lobby of the hotel. We sit down and 1 can of coke is 5 dollars. I mean really? The water was warm tap. Not filtered and without ice. Ugh. My wife ordered the shrimp in curry sauce. She specifically said mild in regard to the spice. When it arrived it was so spicy hot that she couldn't even eat it. Instead of offering to remake the meal, they brought yogurt to mix in to cool it down? Was a bad suggestion as it was just nasty after that. I had the chicken curry with coconut spice it was ok, but they give you a small amount of rice to go with it. Mine wasn't bad but not amazing either. The desert was small and not very good. Definitely not big enough to share. This place has amazing reviews, we drove a while to get there. Not worth the drive. A Warning to All Potential Diners: Save Your Money Where do I even begin? I don't normally post reviews, but I feel it's my duty to warn others about this abysmal establishment. I went on Sunday, 7/9/2025, around 11:45 for a buffet, arriving with high expectations fueled by their elegant Instagram ads and reels. What I found was a disgrace. 1/5 - Service: Utterly Incompetent Most of the staff were either rude or made us feel completely unwelcome. The only exception was the man who billed us--presumably the manager--who was polite. The rest of the staff, however, were truly awful. One staff member had the gall to approach our table and rudely instruct us to stack our used plates, speaking to us in a privileged and condescending tone, as if they were doing us a charitable favor. 1/5 - Food: A Disgusting Disappointment The food was the biggest crime of all. While the dishes looked great on display, the taste and quality were an absolute travesty. I tried both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and the only things that were remotely acceptable were the samosas, pakoras, and the fresh naan. Everything else was inedible. * The paneer was so hard and chewy that it felt like a cheap, synthetic substitute, not actual cheese. * The pav bhaji tasted like a leftover sludge of daals and sabzis from the previous night, with a flavor that was nothing short of horrific. * The chicken wings were equally terrible. * As for the desserts? The cashews in the payasam had an awful, stale taste, and the dish had little to no sweetness. The carrot halwa was horrendous--a dry, flavorless concoction of grated carrots and mawa with an obviously artificial color. It was like eating sweet sawdust. Overall, the low quality of the ingredients was painfully obvious. 3/5 - Ambiance: The Only Saving Grace Credit is due where it's due: the only positive aspect of this entire experience was the ambiance. The open and bright space was the only thing that raised our expectations in the first place after seeing pictures online. The free parking was also convenient. 1/5 - Price: A Daylight Robbery We paid around $50 for a buffet for two, plus a 22% tip, which felt shockingly high given the complete lack of quality in the food and service. I wouldn't pay more than half of what we did for a meal of this level. For this price, you could have a fresh, healthy, and genuinely satisfying meal at a reputable fast-casual place like CAVA. This meal was not worth the money at all. Overall, I would rate this restaurant a shocking 1 out of 5. Please, save your hard-earned money and your well-preserved health. You don't have to trust a stranger on the internet, but if you still decide to try this place, at least you've been warned. read more

A few years ago before Tamara opened, we held our daughter's wedding reception at another restaurant and the event went well. Our son was getting married this time and we wanted to explore all our options. We came across Tamara on social media and decided to try their weekend buffet first. We were impressed with the food and ambiance and decided to negotiate with them to have his wedding reception at their restaurant. They were very flexible and accommodating to all our needs. From the menu selection to the seating arrangements, the management was very accommodating. Today was the day of the wedding and I cannot stress how well things went with the reception. The amount of food and the food quality was amazing. The restaurant manager Yash did an excellent job having his crew ready to provide exceptional service. They went above and beyond what we asked for. This is a great restaurant for a weekend buffet, dinner, catering, or even to hold an event. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed. I don't eat Indian cuisine very often, but my experience here was incredible. Our server was fantastic--patiently explaining the menu and daily specials, which made choosing our meal so much easier. We ordered two appetizers and split an entrée, and everything was absolutely delicious. The Samosa Chaat, which our waiter recommended, was a standout dish--some of the best food I've ever had. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. Their happy hour is also a great deal with BOGO drinks. I highly recommend the Mango Mojito!
