What an awesome find! Brother Jimmy's BBQ immediately caught our attention with the "kids eat free" deal -- perfect for our group of 15 with 5 kids. We were seated in the back room with the arcade, and it couldn't have worked out better. We actually had the whole space to ourselves! The setup was amazing -- our toddlers were able to walk and crawl around on the faux grass, the teens stayed entertained with video games and cornhole, and the adults got to relax and enjoy the food. And the food... absolutely incredible. The loaded mac and cheese was a standout, and the brisket was so juicy and flavorful. Our mouths were watering as soon as the food hit the table. Let me first say, I was shocked when I was told the owners are actually from New York. On our way home from Daytona beach, we stopped through Orlando to get barbecue and have another place in Florida to review. Let me also say this place is in an Entertainment District, so parking is a bit wonky. The place is super cute with lots of typical memorabilia on the walls, and an Elvis bust when you first walk in, and includes a little photo booth. But it's clean and inviting. The server was great and tentative, and food came out pretty quickly. I chose the slider Trio because I eat small amounts regardless. But this gave me an opportunity to try three of their meats: brisket, pulled chicken, and pulled pork. Without having bread or sides, this is a perfect way for me to eat barbecue. We also had a half rack of ribs that did come with one side which was the baked beans. And it came with cornbread. Starting with the trio: the pulled pork without any sauce was actually very flavorful. That is my first test of any barbecue; check the meat before adding sauce. The pulled chicken was also good, a little sweet for my taste. The sauce on it was reminiscent of the sauce of baked beans. But was still pretty good. The brisket was actually really good also. Brisket is such a difficult meat to have tender and be flavorful, and they did both. Eventually I tried the barbecue sauces just to add them on and they were also very good. The chipotle sauce is definitely a little spicy. The original is on the sweeter side. The Carolina was just a basic vinegar, which is not really my thing. Other than just tasting it, I didn't actually use it. For the ribs: we chose the dry rub option, and you can actually see there is a little bit of a smoke ring. These ribs were very large and meaty. The flavor on them was actually really good prior to Sauce being added. The baked beans were really good also, not as sweet as some places I've been, which I enjoy. The cornbread is actually more up my alley of flavor as it wasn't a sweet cornbread, however for me, I have to have my cornbread super warm and lots of butter. But that's me. I was happy to see collard greens on the menu but found them to be way too runny and watery. The pulled chicken was OK too but more in chunks rather than the pulled texture I prefer. While we all had our plates and had eaten for a few minutes we did have to ask staff what happened to one of our guest's meals. It was quickly addressed with an apology and the food came out shortly. My parents enjoyed a meat platter as they're big fans of pork, ribs, meats, etc. The platter was presented with a cool blue flame in the middle of the meats. My dad was impressed. If you're looking for value and quality in Icon Park and a place that is good for kids I highly recommend overall. What a great find. Where we were initially going closed early at 8 pm and we were looking for a late evening place. We were happy the first place closed early because this was a great choice. Absolutely ALL the food was excellent: well seasoned, not too salty, moist, finger licking good. Sides gave the main meats good competition and were award worthy complements. The fishbowl drink was da bomb!! We were all able to drink it and it was not 'weak' especially since it is a very touristy area. Prices were not outlandish since 6 people shared the meal. The flaming meat dish at the table was a good treat. The wait staff was attentive and anticipated our needs before we knew we had needs! So our soda glasses were magically always full, napkin piles appeared, child items appeared with entertainment. The place is huge inside and definitely can accommodate large groups. The food came out extremely fast which is great since we wanted a quick bite. The ambiance was relaxed as expected for a bbq spot. So both hostess could care less if anyone came in as it was late, very windy and cold. 2. The one door out three would not close all the way and wind would come in strong through it. They showed no care as it was not affecting them. People the groups had to get up and close it ourselves. The server was a good dude. Was trying to sell how good everything was and took care of our orders. Now I order brisket and pulled pork. As well I ordered the fried pickles. 1. Pickles were overcooked. Burnt coins. 2. The meat was all dry. Drier than cardboard. I could put sauce the cardboard and it would get soft. But not the food. I did not eat. As the server came to clean the tables from our plates he did not even ask why all my food was still on the plate. The few things I tried were all very very good! The pulled pork with juicy and the sauces to choose from all were fantastic! On a soft and spongy Hawaiian roll, I could pops these all day long. The Mac cheese was super rich and creamy but felt like home! I am sooo NOT a veggie girl, but their Buffalo cauliflower were like crack! I could have eaten those alone and been one happy camper.
