I'm hesitant to write about my underwhelming experience with soup & sip as I am a supporter of all ethnic restaurants in SLC. However I also want the restaurant to improve and give my honest opinions: 1. I was very excited to find out they serve bun ruei since I haven't found anyone else who serves it. When I got the dish, it was very lightly flavored compared to what I had in Vegas and OC. The broth was very bland and lacked of flavor. And it was very pricey! $20 is way too much! The spring rolls are also very mediocre and dry on skin. 2. The price point is higher than other Vietnamese restaurants. 3. The service is slow, there were 3 servers and it was kind of disorganized. I observed that the servers forgot several drinks from other tables. We also waited for 20 minutes for our check and the table next to us had to tell us we have to pay at registration. No server was observant enough to stop and ask since we stopped eating and waited around. All in all, the food is 7/10; service is 6/10. read more

I was impressed with the decor and cleanliness. Their utensils and tableware were also quite good. Not your average restaurant quality. I also liked the concept of Soup and Sip. One side is a dining area (soup) while the other side is setup cafe style for coffee/tea (sip). I only took pictures of the dining area section. You wait to be seated and dine-in or go directly to the counter for a coffee or tea and stay a while or take it to-go. The building is quite large. There is a front entrance which faces redwood road and a back entrance as well. (I didn't tour this area) The front entrance is where we dined at. The front of staff was friendly and kept a watchful eye on us to make sure we were taken care of. My partner and I ordered Pho. One Banh Mi to share and Fish Sauce Chicken Wings. The food was served quickly and piping hot. Their Pho broth was comforting and the portion size was good as well. I enjoyed the batter on the wings and the sauce was delicious. The banh mi had me torn. While it was a good sandwich on an incredibly great crusty baguette, it was missing the pickled vegetables and cilantro that for me make a banh mi unique and great. Their version had beef and grilled onions, fresh lettuce, and tomato. Overall, I enjoyed Soup and Sip and I will definitely be back to try new menu items. Great service! Everyone was so nice. Loved the decor and cozy seats. Solid 4 stars for the food. The eggrolls were a bit under fried. The bun bo hue was my fav entree, the soup was very flavorful and had a generous amount of meat. Looking forward to trying the bun rieu (Vietnamese crab, pork, and tomato noodle soup) next time that is coming soon to the menu! Really loved how clean and aromatic their pho broth is!! It didn't feel greasy which was something I was needing this morning! I ordered the northern pho which differs by having some thinly sliced ginger and wide noodles instead of the standard noodles. I would absolutely come back to get their pho again. Viet food is my favorite! Bubba rieu specifically is my favorite dish ever. Seeing that they had it, I had to go try it. First, their green Thai tea with the salted cream is to die for. So delicious. No joke, I finish it within 30 seconds because I can't stop drinking it once I get that first sip. Now, their food. The bun rieu was excellent! Fantastic flavor AND they know what's up - they gave me a side of chilies and fish gut sauce. The chilies are no joke. A tiny bit of that into the bun rieu had me choking a bit but in a good way because the chilies added a good kick to it. I had a side of the pho broth. It was fine, a little bit more on the fatty side. The Bo la lot was interesting. I never had it precut before. No complaints, still yummy but I think pre cutting it dried it out just a little bit. I haven't found the pictured chicken curry dish done well for a few years, but was overjoyed to see it here, and with heaps of chicken - I couldn't even finish it all! I'd highly recommend going ASAP, because it's on the seasonal, not permanent menu. The oxtail pho was delicious too, but my efforts were focused on the curry. We also got the green thai tea drink, which was good, but the star of the desert show was a complementary mung bean, coconut milk and pandan drink (which you can also pay for in a larger portion). Was visiting my family in Salt Lake City and they told me about a new pho restaurant so we absolutely had to give it a try! The menu has a lot of famous dishes but what's special about them is they have a northern style pho option! I do think I prefer southern (where my family is from) but I love that it's offered! Service is friendly, they work as a team so you are never truly waiting for them. We got to speak to the owner and found out this was an old chase bank converted into a restaurant and they did a great job. The restaurant sits in a sea of many pho restaurants and I wish them the best of luck! They have a really good Vietnamese coffee and very nice and strong- exactly how I like it! LOVE THIS PLACE!! Highly recommend, the food, the vibes, and the service all 10/10! The location is great with lots of parking and seating it's perfect!! Pretty good pho! You can do northern pho or substitute the wide pho noodle in other pho options. But the northern pho broth is slightly different from others we think, like it's a little lighter. This is a new Vietnamese cuisine in west valley among others, just right behind the Kim long where chase bank used to be. Inside is a beautiful restaurant for sure! The service was quick, and the food was delicious. I had the R4, the pork rice plate and my pork was juicy and not dry. One thing I would recommend for the restaurant is putting blinds or sun shades on the windows. Keep in mind if you're dining on a sunny day between Noon-1PM and you sit on the south side of the restaurant below the windows, the sun will kick in hard. New Viet restaurant? Of course I gotta try. At first I thought, prepare to be disappointed. Living here for so long, I've gotten used to the mediocre Viet food here. But I was pleasantly surprised! Every time we try a new restaurant, we always try to order a variety of things to get a good feel of their food. Ca phe muoi - I think I've tried Vietnamese coffee in just about every Asian restaurant/grocery store here that makes it, and this is definitely the best! It was nice and strong without the burnt taste that some places have. Green Thai tea - my husband ordered this. I generally don't order Thai tea because it's usually too sweet, but this was very fragrant and not too sweet. I'd order this again. Chicken wings in black pepper sauce - very lightly breaded with a nice crisp. I want to try the fish sauce one next time. Shaking beef - so good! My only criticism is that it didn't come with the customary lime and salt/pepper, but flavor was on point so it wasn't a big deal. Pho dac biet - beautiful clear golden broth that did not need any extra dressing. The restaurant was so packed and you can tell staff had a long day but customer service was still so amazing.
