Review: 1 star I visited the restaurant today with my husband and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered a sparkling water just for myself, but the waitress brought a large bottle without asking. Then I ordered the shrimp ceviche, which was honestly the worst I've ever had -- it was basically just onions in water with tiny shrimp and no real flavor. I mentioned it to the waitress, and she simply said, "That's how we make it." This food is not genuine Mexican cuisine, and I definitely do not recommend this place. Very poor experience. read more

It is SO tragic how tough it is to find bomb Mexican food in Westchester! Tamarindos is literally an oasis. I try to make it to dinner here at least once every time I'm back visiting from Los Angeles where I live. Standouts are the mezcalito, guacamole, and the mixed vegetable quesadilla. The food, the service, and drinks put this at the top of our list for Mexican/Central American food. I didn't know that our bartender was the owner. He was 'Johnny on the spot' with our drink orders. Some of the best Mexican food we've ever had - salmon and chicken in particular were FANTASTIC! Both were bursting with flavor, tender, and juicy. Truly outstanding! Portions were large and very filling - we had enough to pack some to take home. Quesadilla and tacos were both standard Mexican cuisine. Went for Valentine's Day around 5:30 pm, not so busy but started to pick up as we left. Their chips are addicting! Had the chicken and beef empanadas and shrimp for appetizer, the chicken empanadas and shrimp were delicious ! I had the carnitas tacos which were very tasty, unfortunately the chicken tacos seemed more like a grilled chicken on a tortilla. The house margarita is a must try ! We used to go to this plaice on average of 1 day per week for the last few years. We had not been there in the last few months, due to a lot travel and conflicts in our schedule. We went tonight and were extremely disappointed. Our favorite waitress was not there and the server we had, showed NO Interest in us. She was very unfriendly, never checked on our table including asking if we wanted another cocktail and refilling our water. My wife's dinner was not edible and the waitress could not care less and did not offer any alternative. She had no problem charging us for it. Never asked if we wanted desert, just simply left bill on the table. No customer care, no thank you. It is a real shame what happened to this restaurant. It was always great and no it has fallen apart. Stay Away!!!! read more

We just tried this great new restaurant, it was a hit! The food was delicious! The authentic dishes are Latin Fushion style the owner Erick explained to us, they bring a blend of food from different countries, e.g. Mexican, Guatemalan, Puerto Rican, etc. Everything was fresh and expertly prepared. The black bean soup was delicious, different than any I have ever tasted with small bits of sweet plantain atop the soup... a Guatemalan tradition I was told. It was really excellent. From the delicious margaritas to the fresh home-made chips, fresh guacamole, very tasty steak, rice and beans, outstanding tostones, etc.; all the food was excellent. The service was great, the owner and wait staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Dinner overall was very enjoyable, we will definitely be going back! read more

Came in on a whim. Actually thought it might've been an Indian restaurant because we just saw the 'tamarind' part of the name. Menu looked good,and the owner personally served us. I am vegetarian, and he accommodated with delicious vegetarian enchiladas with green sauce, while my wife got a chicken dish equally enjoyed.
