It's been a couple of years since I've been in the neighborhood . Lefteris Greek restaurant left an enjoyable dining experience, that I just had to try again and recapture moment. What can I add that the other reviews haven't already said. The food is fresh, prepared properly, delivered to the table in a timely manner, by staff that is pleasant and professional. The atmosphere is congenial and there is an upper dining room that can accommodate a large family gathering or for special occasions. They have a variety of authentic Greek dishes. My son in law ( his mother was born in Greece) accompanied us for dinner. He raved about the smelts and grilled octopus. I had a delicious fresh seafood salad . Our group ordered different food options and they were flavorful, fresh and expertly served. The wait staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is decent enough and tasty as well but like a lot of businesses especially restaurants over the last few years they have looked for ways to stay profitable. In Lefteris case that means taking away one of the key reasons to go and that's value. They've done two things... raised the prices and cut the portion sizes and the combination has taken the restaurant out of one category of restaurant and placed it into another. When I order moussaka (and their moussaka is indeed tasty) I get a much smaller portion and what used to cost around $16 now costs $30. A gyro that was under $10 now costs $15. Better still was I asked for more sauce or salad dressing and was hit between $1.50 and more for it. The dine in ambience is nice, the food is good but at the price point I'll just look for other options. read more

A total wazte if money. Food is over priced and very average. $25.95 for the gyro platter which came with a very small Greek salad greasy gyro meat and choice of French fries or rice. Large Greek salad with.grilled chicken $24 it literally had about an.ounce of feta cheese and an over cooked dry chicken breast. Definitely not worth the prices they are charging. Usually I vote with 5 stars for absolute perfection, but not looking for nor expecting it! Decor is that of other Lefteris restaurants in an authentic Greek vibe having murals on the walls with traditional blue/white checkered cloths. Waitstaff didn't rush our party of four in any way. Food was served promptly after our salad was noted to be almost completed. No complaints from the table having ordered different gyros along with my spanokapita "spinach pie" The large Greek salad, that we shared, was so filling that we forfeited having appetizers. Popped in here before heading back up to CT for lunch with my father in law yesterday for a quick bite. We're so glad we did! Everybody there was really nice and service was FAST! I am Greek so I can compare all Greek restaurants to excellent home cooking by Greeks in my family. I must say the wait staff were wonderful and it's a nice atmosphere. BUT! I ordered a chicken Gyro. They used a reprocessed chicken product! It was like the fake lamb they slice off the giant meat thing. How hard would it have been to use real chicken!?!? I was so disappointed!! And the Tzatziki sauce was a bit purplish and curdled. That being said, the Spanekopita was good. The onion rings should've been homemade. Ordered takeout for the family and went to pick our order. NOT busy at all at the shop. The woman at the counter read back our order (which was very simple) four chicken gyros, one regular gyro plate with rice, spanakopita and one large Greek salad. Simple enough right??? Nope! Once we returned home with our order, we DID get a large greek salad and the regular gyro plate with rice. Well done! However, the four chicken gyros ended up being regular gyros. Total bummer because three out of the four family members do not like regular gyro meat. I'm NOT a hypercritical reviewer...just the facts from my experience. Now onto the food that was actually eaten. The spanakopita was a nice size serving and the flavor was rated as okay by one diner and good by the other. The Greek salad was loaded! IMHO overloaded with onions. The rest of the salad was fine. The gyro platter ...the gyro meat was very dried out. The rice, the same...dry (but plentiful). The gyro wrap that was eaten was also described as dried out. The gyro itself was also loaded. Kudos (I guess) Prior to us "eating" our dinner when we unwrapped the wraps we obviously discovered that there was NO chicken. So we contacted the restaurant and explained to the person at the restaurant that we did not get the food that we ordered even though the order was read back to us when we picked up the order. The person who answered the phone when we called about the short comings she said that it "must have been communication error with both parties". We were also told that we could bring the food back to fix the order. We were not going to drive 30 minutes back to the restaurant and then another 30 minutes home to have a dinner. WRONG, just wrong nothing else to say. So, three of the gyros were tossed in the rubbish and we made our other diners something from our house. Crappy customer service in my opinion. Will not be back and will not recommend. Sorry, not sorry. We even left a tip at the restaurant for the staff to hand us two bags of food. Won't be back read more

Really great Greek food! The restaurant isn't anything fancy but it did the job. Right after we walked in, it got packed, and I am sure it's like that all the time! The servers were friendly and the food came out quickly. I had a side of rice and a chicken gyro. The portions are insanely huge and for the price you can't beat it. Some other menu items my party enjoyed were the lemon soup, vegetable soup, lamb gyro, and stuffed grape leaves. My wife and I were in Mt Kisko last Friday night and we were hungry. I told her lets go try this gyro place out, a guy at my job always says its the best Greek food outside of NYC. So we went in and the place looks really basic and clean, nice friendly wait staff.... My wife had the chicken souvlaki, I had a gyro platter. I also ordered a thing of spanakopitia. They bring you some bread and this house dressing while you wait.. Oh my God the dressing is so good! Really good! Then the food came out surprisingly fast and wow, it was an abundance of food and fresh delicious looking!! This place is no joke and fed us more than we could eat for a great price. We decided to stop here on our way back to Maine from Pennsylvania and, wow!, were we glad we did! The menu offerings were plentiful for all with meat and vegetarian options. Don't be fooled by the pictures on the menu as the portions are easily double in size! I ordered the vegetarian moussaka and my partner had the stuffed cabbage (also vegetarian). They each came with a large Greek salad which neither of us could finish.The house made Greek dressing was phenomenal and we bought a bottle to take home. My only complaint about the salads were that the tomatoes were not fresh and were hard; otherwise the lettuce was crisp and the feta and black olives were delicious. When our entrees arrived we were astonished at the portions. My partner's plate had 3 huge stuffed cabbage rolls with a ginormous serving of lemon potatoes. Both had great flavors. My moussaka was delicious and cooked perfectly. Oh and we also had fresh warm pita bread that came with the meal. Very yummy! We couldn't pass up dessert so we had the Greek coffee (strong and flavorful!) and the baklava and the galaktoboureko (which is one of the custard-semolina desserts). The servings were HUGE! And they were both DELICIOUS!! The service was great and the prices VERY good for the amount of food. So lucky to have stopped in this AMAZING Greek restaurant. We were seated by Amalia, the sweetest person with a terrific Greek accent. Our server was Anastasia, also has a great Greek accent, knows the menu inside and out and made the absolute best recommendations. We started with grilled octopus, spinach pie and a Greek salad. They were all so fresh and really flavorful. Anastasia is a great server and made us feel like we were the only ones in the place because she constantly kept checking in on us and made sure everything we could want or need was attended to. The busers kept filling the water glasses, removing emptied plates and provided an ample supply of well needed napkins. This is one of my top 5 places. I've been going here for over a decade. I could probably eat here 5 nights out of the week. No frills when it comes to restaurant decor and updating the facility, but if you're going here to dine- it's for the food and not the ambiance. The food comes out super fast and portions for the large salads are huge - plenty to split between 2-3 people. It's very family friendly too. read more

I have been there twice. Meh. Hummas was good. Meal was ok. Nothing special.. nothing bad. I probably will end up there again at some point in my life (friends like Greek food and its a easy spot to meet up) But not because the food is so great I cant wait to go back.
