We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and they were hopping! Parking is a little limited, but we were able to find a decent spot. We waited in line only a few minutes. There was one cashier taking orders and she was friendly and quick. We ordered a California Burger meal and a ham & cheese omelette breakfast plate. The crowd seemed to flow at a decent speed and we had tables available as soon as we finished placing our order. The food was ready shortly after and was freshly made to order! The young girl bringing out the order was friendly and asked if we needed anything else. I have actually been here a few times and each time has been a nice experience. The staff is friendly and everything is made fresh to order. Yum! One thing that caught us by surprise and honestly was a bit bothersome is that their receipts appear to include a hidden fee. The fee itself isn't much, but that isn't the point -- it's the principle. If you're going to charge a fee for anything, it should be clearly disclosed. I'm posting our receipt below. You can see our order came to $35.77 and we paid $3.13 in tax, which should total $38.90. However, the total charged to our card was $40.07. We visited based on the great Google reviews. I ordered an Avocado Burger with bacon. My husband ordered a Polish Sandwich. We also ordered onion rings and fries with a side of Ranch. The burger initially looked great. Lots of avocado and bacon. Soft bun. Then I tried to take a bite. The bun started falling apart right away. The ingredients were sliding around making it very difficult to take a bite. Then I noticed the super thin burger that was still red. This is a burger out of a box. Not made in house. The burger was cold. My husband said the polish was just ok. The fries were barely warm. The onion rings were hot. The Ranch dressing was like mayo with a tiny bit of seasoning. Not good. I picked up drink and the cup completely folded in half and a large portion of my drink went all over the floor. The top had already popped off numerous times but this time the cup collapsed. We used to go to the location in Rancho Cucamonga all the time so you can imagine how happy I was when I found this one! My mom suggested lunch on a Saturday afternoon and I suggested here. We ordered at the counter and then got a table. I dont know if we had gotten there after a large rush, but it was hard to find a clean table. There were only 2 other tables taken by customers, and the rest that could accommodate the 5 of us were dirty. We ended up getting a rag from a staff member and cleaning a table ourselves. No biggie. I ordered the club sandwich combo meal and it was perfect! This is my favorite spot to get a club sandwich, and I was so happy when it tasted exactly the same as it does in Rancho! My mom got the steak sandwich combo and she was very happy with her sandwich! She said there was no fat and it was cooked perfectly with really good flavor, and the bread, while toasted was really soft. The rest of our party got a double cheeseburger combo, pancakes, and a kids cheeseburger combo. I always come here to eat with my kids, this is the first time I've had a bad experience eating here. When ordering I asked for a steak sandwich with chili fries, the cashier even repeated it back to me and I got regular fries. When I told them I got chili cheese fries with my combo, they looked at me like I was an idiot and never charged me for them. The people here are very nice. But the prices are ridiculous. The food is your average greasy spoon meal... not bad, not amazing. It's been years since I was here, so imagine my shock when I ordered a chicken strip meal (strips, fries, salad, dinner roll) and a small drink and it was $25! The prices are especially shocking considering the shape the place is in. I think it's the original booths and tables. There isn't a single one with no rips in the upholstery. We usually order cheeseburgers or bacon burgers. I love when a restaurant makes good food and gets my order right. The burger was darn good, and the service was too. When ordering, the cashier asked if I wanted the combo, and I told her I just wanted a burger and fries since I had my hydroflask filled with water on me. She put the numbers in the register and told me it would actually be $2 less for me to get the combo than buying the burger and fries separately. I really appreciated her going above and beyond. I rarely leave reviews, but this disaster of a place deserves one. We came with a large group today and the moment we walked in, the rancid sewer stench from the bathroom smacked us in the face. It was revolting. The service somehow managed to be worse than the smell. My order was completely botched, and instead of apologizing or correcting it, the so-called manager/owner basically told me they were busy and that I could leave if I didn't like it. That level of arrogance and disrespect is unbelievable. Against my better judgment, I stayed for the sake of my group. Big mistake. When my food finally arrived, it was garbage literally. My fries had a hair and other nasty particles in them. I had a couple of bites of the sandwich since I was very hungry but the rest went straight into the trash they went. While I knew not to get my hopes up--food rarely lives up to the hype of yesteryear--I couldn't help but long for the nostalgic taste of a Tam's Burger and the memories this burger brings to me. As humans, we change and evolve as we age. Our palates become more sophisticated, seeking more umami, less sweetness, less saltiness, and richer textures in our meals. I knew what I was truly craving were the fond memories from ten years ago, but I hoped I could still find joy in a Tam's Bacon Cheese Burger. With tempered expectations, I painstakingly ventured from Phoenix to Yucaipa, ready to wrap my hands around a Tam's Burger. Even though I had lowered my expectations tenfold, taking all known variables into account, I was still left utterly disappointed. The good is always delicious, my husband hasn't strayed from his Ortega burger yet but I have tried a few things and my total favorite so far is a panini, but eat it while it's fresh, it didn't heat well. Food is good most of the time, but I tried the baklava because they said it was good and so did a customer so I bought two pieces at $3.50 each. I didn't try until I got home. The first bite it was nothing but an oil taste. Like the kind that collects on things from cooking. Thinking back o remembered the case that contained the dessert had no backing to it and was just open to the elements of the kitchen just behind it and it took on the taste of the oil. I called to request a refund they told me I would have to come back the next day when the owner was in and see if he would refund me. I found this to be a little ridiculous and just took the loss, because I worked the next day. I liked going here but this was irritating and I haven't been back even though my mom suggests it. We came in the last 40 minutes before they closed and we were still greeted with helpful service food did not take long portion size was great the Philly cheesesteak sandwich is highly recommended.
