Not a fan. Drinks were super watery. Hardly any service interaction. Price was okay though... but I wouldn't spend for a drink that isn't even good. Drinks on average $6 which is like a gold mine in the current boba economy. The drinks just weren't that good though. I got 50% sweetness (as that is my standard at most other boba spots) but it just tasted like straight water. Furthermore, it didn't even have an aromatic tea flavor, which is sometimes a byproduct of reduced sugar. The drink was just watery milk with pearls. Not worth, even my $6. With all that being said, i would consider giving it another try if I were in the area and try more sugar. read more

Decided to finally try out Tancca after walking past it several times and did not regret it! Service was friendly and fast, there tends to be less people in this area compared to the rest of Chinatown. This is what my friend and I ordered: (8/10) White peach milk tea w/ puff cream, 30% sugar, large iced - definitely has the peach tea flavor, a large helping of puff cream on the side of the cup and on top of the drink. (7/10) Osmanthus oolong milk tea w/ boba, regular sugar, large iced - both my friend and I prefer less sugar but he forgot to adjust sugar levels, so it was a bit too sweet. The floral tea is pretty good otherwise. Boba is just okay (wasn't the chewiest) and personally felt like too much boba. They have both plastic and bamboo(?) straws. Prices are reasonable, paid $6.50 for my drink. They also have a loyalty program. The inside is way more spacious than it looks on the outside and there are plenty of tables and outlets for those that want to work in a cafe. It's is really nicely decorated with art and stickers, and they also sell pins from small artists. I will come again next time to try some of the other drinks! read more

If you want a solid and affordable milk tea, I would recommend giving Tancca a try! The tea flavor isn't super strong, but for the price and overall taste, I would go again if I was near the area. We were pleasantly surprised by the boba, though (again adding to the overall solid experience). There is a lot of seating inside and we loved the interior. It's a great place to chat with a friend especially if you get some bakery items at the nearby bakery. read more

Tancca feels like a hidden gem to me. There's plenty of seating, and they have an easily accessible bathroom... in Chinatown which is a big win so I've upgraded it from a 4 to a 5 star. I really wish they would add better ventilation or a big fan to their bathroom though. I've only ever gotten their passion fruit blended smoothie with boba. It's delightful and refreshing. Sorry I don't drink much tea due to the caffeine so I can't speak to the quality of their milk tea. They have a bunch of those big stainless steel tea things so it seems like they take tea pretty seriously. read more

My husband and I recently tried Omomo in Irvine and their smoothie boba drink was so good! My husband was never a huge fan of boba but after trying Omomo, he researched to see if we had something similar in the Bay Area. To our surprise, Omomo oriented from Tancca in SF. Of course, we decided we had to try this place. When we got there, I went in to order the drinks. The closest thing to the smoothie we got at Omomo was the snowy drinks at Tancca. There were two workers and one customer inside. Nothing special about the decor and it was very quiet. Somehow, the worker still managed to mess up my order despite not being busy. I ordered one snowy mango with honey boba and one snowy strawberry with the agar boba. Since our toddler was in the car waiting with my husband, I did not even bother to say anything to the worker and just settled with both mangoes. The drinks were disgusting! It tasted like super sweet artificial mango syrup blended with ice cubes. Worst smoothie I ever had! Boba balls were hard too. Definitely not a fan of this place! I came by after getting dimsum not too far away on a Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy at all, and I was surprised by how much room was inside. Plenty of seating, with plants and art everywhere, and free wifi too - it seems like a great spot to grab boba and study! -Assam Milk Tea w/boba ($4.45, regular sweet, less ice): a classic black milk tea that's strong, creamy and not watered down. The boba was nice and chewy too and lightly sweetened. Are you a puff cream kinda person? Tancca has hands down THE best puff cream in the bay! The creamy, thick puff cream Tancca puts in their drinks (when ordered) will FIX your desires. I love either their Avocado snowy or classic milk tea with puff cream. I've never had a puff cream the way Tancca does theirs. Super generous servings too that every sip WILL have puff cream. Workers are always so informal and patient! They know what to recommend. The inside has tons of greenery - plants and good vibes everywhere. Parking is in chinatown so good luck. Trusty place for yummy drinks! I'm loyal to my rotation of orders: jasmine milk tea with puff cream, osmanthus oolong tea with puff cream, white peach tea with puff cream. Did you notice the puff cream throughline? There's a reason for that - it's THICK, sweet and slightly salty, and a mystery because I still don't actually know what it is (maybe a bit caramelly?). I walked to the end of the block and tried to get a drink from the popular corner store on Broadway and Powell but it was closed. Remembering that I'd stop at another drink place down the block (east) on Broadway, I walked into an unfamiliar looking store in a familiar location. Tancca is a shop right outside of Chinatown. It is a small shop that is pretty spacious inside, if you walk all the way to the back. Parking is street parking, but it is SF, so it is hit or miss. Service is eh, the employee is not as friendly or even welcoming. I ordered the jasmine milk tea with boba. The milk tea was horrible, it had a weird bitter taste and a strange aftertaste to it. The last time I went to Tancca was probably around 10 years ago. I recently returned when one of my friends said they have the best matcha drinks. I definitely do not remember this from 10 years ago but then again, I barely remember anything from 10 years ago. We ordered uji matcha with puff cream. The total came up to be a little less than $12 for 2 drinks. The puff cream is so good and so was the combination with the uji matcha.
