The last time I went to Tancca was probably around 10 years ago. I recently returned when one of my friends said they have the best matcha drinks. I definitely do not remember this from 10 years ago but then again, I barely remember anything from 10 years ago. We ordered uji matcha with puff cream. The total came up to be a little less than $12 for 2 drinks. The puff cream is so good and so was the combination with the uji matcha. There's only one person manning the register and drinks so please be patient especially during rush hours. I wish I lived near here so I could try the entire menu. read more

This shop was exactly what I was looking for in my search for a boba tea in SF. I ordered the snowy mango boba tea and it hit the spot. It was a touch too sweet but next time I will inquire about how to tamper it because the mango Is so refreshing. Also tried the Assam Milk Tea - fantastic. There is an extensive menu of drinks with lots of additions to explore. Decor is sweet and full of healthy plants and fairy lights. The prices are terrific. Walked by and kids always want boba. We got the snowy mango, snowy dragonfruit, snowy strawberry and the tiger latte. Snowy dragonfruit was a very pretty pink drink and at 30% sugar was pretty sweet to me, unfortunately I didn't get much of a dragonfruit flavor. The tiger latte had matcha but it was a tiny hint not really strong matcha flavor but give bonus points for the nice and chewy tapioca pearls. The best drinks! Great customer service. Tried many many of their drinks and haven't had one I did not like. Uji matcha, peach oolong with cheese foam, black milk tea with both pudding and grass jelly, coffee milk tea with pudding, red bean snow - I have been coming here since it opened. Would go more often but it's only one guy (owner) that opens at lunch and limited days of operating hours. Very reasonable prices. read more

This store opens at noon on weekdays. I walked in right after they opened on a Tuesday and they said their boba wasn't ready. My first impression of this place was immediately not good. If your opening time was noon, I'd expect you to get your boba cooked and ready to serby the time you opened. You shouldn't expect customers to wait when you had all morning to prep for it. But I decided to wait for 15 mins for the boba to be cooked and ready. I decided to get 2 drinks: White Grape Oolong Milk Tea with Agar Boba & Cherry Blossom Green Milk Tea with Boba. Price was $4.50 ish per drink, not bad. By the way, very few boba shops offer white grape/muscat milk tea, so I really appreciated this! The White Grape Oolong Milk Tea with Agar Boba was pretty good and refreshing. And with only half sweetness, it was perfect. I wish I could've tasted the white grape/muscat more from the drink though. I only got a hint of it. The agar boba was pretty standard; it was chewy and slightly sweet, it was good. Overall it was a pretty good drink. The Cherry Blossom Green Milk Tea with Boba was not my favorite. The cherry blossom created an aftertaste that I didn't really care about. It tasted very chemically, and it didn't add any niceness to the flavor of the drink at all. And the boba, since it was just freshly cooked, was expectedly nice and soft, but it had no flavor at all. They should've added more sweetness to the boba itself because, without any sweetness, it would be just a plain bland tapioca balls. Overall this drink was just ok. Finally I appreciated the fact they changed up the lids by using more leak-tight lids on their cups. I still hated the fact they didn't seal their drinks, but hey as long as the lid didn't allow any leak, I was happy. And also I loved how they used paper straws! It's very rare to find a boba shop within the city where the price range is sub-$5. However, you do get what you paid for in terms of quality. The cheesefoam was super thick, and the lid wasn't right for this type of topping. Had to keep shifting my straw to get the drink, then get the cheesefoam, then back to the drink. After a while, it created a very distinct layer of just cream cheese. Wouldn't recommend the cheese foam from this place. The drink itself was a bit bland, with lack of tea flavor and lack of sweetness at 70%. At least the interior of the store was clean, with lots of tables and seating. read more

I have driven past this shop so many times, coming out of the Broadway tunnel. We were on foot and decided to try it out! They have a ton of options and you can add boba and all of the usual fix-ins, but what was cool is that they have these flavored tonic drinks. I got the passionfruit tonic drink with some lychee jelly. It was nice and light overall! I enjoyed it. Inside Tancca has a little hang out area where you can catch up with friends or even bring your laptop and work at. Beyond disappointed and annoyed of my experience here. Customer service is literally non-existent as others have mentioned in other reviews. I walked into an EMPTY store (there were no other customers inside or outside), and the singular man (asian dude with long hair) working there did not even notice my entrance. There was no greeting, and he didn't even bother looking up nor walk over to the register to take my order. I said excuse me three different times to get his attention & asked if they were open & he said "yes" with the worst attitude and an expression of annoyance on his face, but he continued to go back to whatever he was doing. He did not even think to walk over to take my order. What kind of service is this? I stood there for 5 minutes and decided to just leave. Though I want to support small businesses, it's hard to when you don't even have an ounce of respect for your customers. This place is very spacious for a boba shop. My orders: -Uji matcha with cheese foam: the matcha was pretty good, but you have to mix the foam in order to taste it. This isn't Happy Lemon style where you just sip. -Oolong milk tea: the tea is weak, as previously mentioned in another review. "It tastes more like flavored milk," is what my brother said. I personally agree. Sweetness is adjustable, and there are plenty of options here. I'd come back for convenience, but would stick to the matcha drink. read more

We came here when it still fairly new and thought the decor was very cute , you could tell they were going for a more western cafe aesthetic for studying and what not. the menu is fairly big with a few unique drinks but upon further inspection you'll notice the drink level is around the same as quicklys. all the drinks are made with powder and all taste watered down, the boba was also pretty hard to chew so i basically ignored the boba and went for the drink. but the matcha was just extremely watered down you can barely taste matcha more so water & milk. service was also iffy, front house cashier person was quiet and dismissive hopefully since this was a few months ago that has changed. read more

So good! Visited this place since their location on Geary has been closed for about a year now and was feeling nostalgic. Menu was exactly the same. Big menu, lots of different drink options. Street parking available. Interior was also cute, and nice decorations. For my order I got my old usual which was the Royal ceylon milk tea with puff cream and boba at 50% sweet. It was so good, taste like the other location. Not too sweet, and the puff was made fresh. Boba was chewy. Overall solid drink. Saw this place on the way to dinner at The House. My family always gets boba after dinner.. so we decided to try this. It's definitely not as good as it seems. I asked for recommendations on the drinks and at first the cashier just pointed at the menu and I was so confused... okay which one...ALL??? I chose to get a jasmine green milk tea with puff cream. I assumed that it would taste like a creama or the milk foam drinks I usually get at Gong Cha or Sharetea. It definitely was not what I had expected. My drink came out green which confused me because I thought they accidentally made a matcha drink and I hate matcha. I guess it's supposed to look like that.
