TANDOORI CHICKEN (Full) CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA SAMOSA (VEG) TANDOORI CHEESE NAAN
    Zoë L.

Great service, food and ambiance. I loved the slightly sweet crisps and sauces they served while waiting for our food. I had an order of tandoori chicken and samosas as my entre, and felt quite full after. I'd recommend getting a sauce with the samosas. My friend got the famous chicken tikka masala, she's a connoisseur of the dish, and said it was fantastic. The rice was perfectly cooked without being too dry. We shared an order of cheese naan and had a great time!

My sister and I needed something to fill us up well before going to The Met, so we picked our favorite cuisine! Tandoor Oven has a classy ambience, fantastic service, and absolutely delicious food. We ordered the samosas for our appetizer, which were hot, perfectly made, and came with two scrumptious sauces and chutney. We also got the garlic naan, which was perfectly baked and topped with real garlic instead of garlic powder. The tikka masala has the perfect amount of kick without overpowering the flavor, which is so rich and the perfect balance of tangy and savory. Price-wise it's pretty average for NYC. The tikka masala was $20 and came with rice.

5 stars all the way! Oh my Lord have mercy! The samosas were epic The drums of heaven were legendary but the star of the night by far was the chicken sula tika! We did the Chocken tika masala as our main and were SO delighted! For desert we did a nice mango lassi. So refreshing and yummy! Our waiter was very accommodating, gave excellent recommendations, and made us all very happy with our decisions. The wine was good too and OH MY GOD let me not forget the Naan! Duuuuuude! That was GOOD! But yeah definitely coming back for this and never stopping.

Absolutely excellent food!! Also they were playing actual Indian music instead of random pop songs like some other places, which really contributed to the ambiance. :)

Tried out this cute spot by a friend who doesn't even like Indian... my friend and I, however, are Indian lovers. Love the style when you walk in-- the door is lovely too. Are you looking for good samosas? Shrimp curry? Garlic naan? Yes?! They have it! And it was simply tasty-- and on the lighter side. Sometimes when you go to Indian it's really filling and heavy. Nope, not here. Light and fluffy. I was happy my friend recommended this spot. I will be backkk! I wanna try more on the menu! Ps. Forgive me, I forgot to snap pictures of the Foood!!

The website needs to be updated because there's no more lunch specials due to new management but they don't honor it at all. Additionally they don't have a non alcoholic drinks menu but they do make mango lassi - though it isn't on the menu so you won't know how much you'll be tried. This is the first Indian restaurant I went to where we were not given a free appetizer such as dosa for dip. We came here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon - there was only one other person who was dining and probably 2 pick up orders in the 1.5 hours we ate there. The food took forever to arrive. Food was mediocre. Will not come back again.

We happened to be dining there during a World Cup game so there was a TV on in the back (not sure if that's their usual setup). I ordered the chicken tandoori (bone-in), my SO got the chicken tikka masala, and we shared a garlic naan. I got a masala chai to drink and my SO just stuck to water. We did not have to wait too long for the food. My chicken tandoori came out on a sizzling plate with a side of rice. The chicken was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. I ate the slices of onion on the sizzling plate with the chicken and rice. The garlic naan was nice and hot, crisp on the outside, studded with plenty of garlic, and soft and chewy on the inside. It was good for sopping up the chicken tikka masala sauce. My SO felt that my bone-in chicken tasted better than the chicken that came with the tikka masala, so he would consider ordering one of the other bone-in options next time (butter chicken (bone-in) or chef's special chicken (bone-in) biryani). Service was attentive. The servers refilled our water several times and checked on how we liked our dishes. We didn't have dessert this time, but we might next time we come because there will definitely be a next time.

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious!
