The chicken tikka masala was excessively sweet, the mutton Rogan was salty and bland, and the garlic naan came without any garlic or butter--it was also the tiniest naan I've ever encountered in a restaurant. Was looking for a good lunch spot before heading into the park. Did a search and I was psyched when this place popped up. It's located right on the main drag with parking out front. We got there right after they opened, so we were the only diners there - - not sure if they get a big lunch crowd. Service was friendly and pleasant. The dining area had quite a few booths/tables and a tv. I didn't really care for the food. To be fair, the salad was delicious but the chutneys were watery and lacking in flavor. Cute little spot in the middle of Oakhurst near the community park area, and perfect for an Indian craving if you're on a Yosemite trip. We ordered the butter chicken which you can adjust spice level on, which was perfect for our kids and they enjoyed this dish very much. A lot of chicken chunks and plenty of sauce. We also got naan and the mango lassi which was very good. Takeout takes a while so call it in 20-30 before you need it. We came here right after sunset during Firefall season. Extremely busy on a Saturday. Only takeout at 8:15pm. They said 40-45 minute wait for our food. We went to check into our hotel and came back for our food. We walked in, and they were calling someone about their order. They told that person over the phone that they ran out of chicken, so we were worried we would have to wait extra and that our food wasn't ready. Luckily, our order was ready, and our chicken dishes were there after about a 50 minute wait. We ordered the following, and would rate all 1.5/5 or 2/5. I wonder if it was because they were extremely busy. -Vegetable samosas. One of the sauces tasted spoiled. -Chicken tikka masala. Medium spice level. This is one of my favorites, and theirs was terrible. -Butter naan. Definitely did not have butter at all. Tasted like plain naan. -Garlic naan. Best item we had that night. Notes for takeout: -No napkins -No rice (we were going to order sides of rice, but the guy taking our order said rice came with ours... but we had no rice -___-) -No utensils or plates unless asked. Luckily, I checked the bag before we left. I wish it was better. For the price, it wasn't worth it. For the wait, it wasn't worth it. We were staying in Oakhurst and were very pleasantly surprised at this great Indian fast casual spot. The naan, chicken tikka, and curry was excellent! We liked the food enough that on the same trip we ordered takeout twice because they are also open late and are the only good spot left late at night. read more

I am not sure if you have to ask for the food to not be spicy but I know to ask next time. I was bummed that the naan seemed burnt. Overall pretty good! We got the butter chicken and the shrimp vindaloo (which wasn't on the menu, but they could make it). Both dishes were really delicious, we inhaled them! The shrimp vindaloo was a bit different from how I've had it before at other places, the way they make it here feels a bit like curry salsa. It was different, but still really amazing. Butter chicken was classic. The staff was friendly, there's lots of seating, and the parking lot had a good number of spots (though it's small so you really have to drive carefully to not hit other cars) The one star off: -the first visit was so good, we went back again just to get the shrimp vindaloo (while we loved the butter chicken, it's identical to the one at our favorite Indian place in SF, whereas the SV was different enough that we want to get it again). I'm not sure if I imagined it, but the second time wasn't as good. The flavor was a bit off and the shrimp was overcooked. -they didn't give us enough rice! Each curry comes with a side of rice, but it's more like a half-side. Maybe most people get naan, so lots of rice goes to waste? The thing is, I prefer rice over naan, so the portion they gave wasn't enough. I ended up with extra curry that I just ate on its own. When I ordered extra rice at the return visit, I ended up getting 1.5 the amount, so now there's extra rice. It's a bit silly, like not having enough cereal OR milk. I think they should just make rice a separate order. It seems to be a bit of an issue, as the host felt the need to warn us that the default rice portion is very small. I've eaten at many different Indian restaurants, and never had this weird (if minor) issue. Anyway, where was I? Sorry, I was nitpicking a bit. Finding Desi restaurant-here at Yosemite Valley's it self is a great experience, ordered chicken biryani, paneer tikka, roghani gosht and chicken tikka, and we liked chicken biryani the most.
