Food: This place is definitely one of the best restaurants serving this type of Korean food. The kalbi tang did not disappoint, and was hearty and filling. They give plenty of tender beef with the soup. The bossam (pork wraps) was super soft and juicy, although I wish they gave a bit more lettuce (they don't refill). It's hard to go wrong with a bulgogi dolsot bibimbap, and they did not disappoint. All the side dishes were great! Service: All the staff were friendly. This place gets pretty busy, so we had to wait a bit to get seated. We didn't wait too long for our food, though. Food: Back-rib soup 5/5: this was the most flavorful galbi tang I have ever had, I barely added in any addition seasonings. Rib was also so tender it fell off the bone Octopus Rice Plate 5/5: the octopus was so tender and not chewy in this rice plate. the combination of all the vegetables, seaweed and egg created a flavor bomb. Tang 190 has the best of both worlds - classic, authentic Korean food served in a modern, clean restaurant. I sometimes feel like it's one or the other, but they nailed it. They also have really great service. I was really impressed with the galbi tang here. The radish kimchi (kkakdoogee) was AMAZING. So crunchy and well fermented. Diners beware: We had dinner at Tang 190 tonight. The back rib in my Back Rib Tang was tough, and the seafood pancake wasn't flavorful. We had other dishes that were okay. I was caught off guard when paying the bill because they added 7% to the bill if paid using credit card. There was no advance notice or mentioned on the menu. Since we didn't have enough cash to pay it off, we were charged $9 extra. Usually restaurants are charged between 2% to 3% by the bank. So the restaurant made an extra 4% - 5% profit by not letting customers know in advance about its arbitrary cash/credit card policy. It would be fair if they charge only extra to cover their cost. But it's definitely not right when they sneaked up the charge on you at the end of the meal. read more

This is an authentic Korean restaurant. I ordered the octopus and bulgogi dolsot (stone pot rice), seafood pancake, L.A.galbi (L.A. for the way the rib is cut -thin), and sulung tang (beef soup). All were really authentic and really good. I mean really good. The server an are attentive and come by often to refill the ban-chan (side dishes) & water (hot and cold). The cabbage in the galbi-tang soaked up that delicious broth and was a crowd favorite, but what really got me going was this gigantic galbi bibimbap. Have always wanted to try this place but never got a chance to until now, really wish I came here earlier because it's such a hidden gem. First off, getting seated was so easy. The indoor seats are limited but they took advantage of the outdoor seating area so there's no wait and the outdoor areas are all shaded. The portion is enough to share for two people. It's so hard to find this dish in the Irvine area and this place does it right. I love that they give you the mustard and vinegar so you can adjust it to your taste. Also, they really ice the soup. I've had this dish in other places where it's just lukewarm and that's not what you hope for when you see "cold" noodles on the menu. The galbi was tasty too and in terms of fattiness, they were leaner than some places. Bulgogi Rice Plate | Marinated and grilled beef 'BiBim-Bop', on a sizzling hot stone plate with onion, cabbage, daikon radish, and green onion. Topped with fried egg, sesame seeds, and seaweed strips. Season with gochujang and sesame oil to enhance its flavor ($23.99) - This was a super yummy dish as well. I haven't had bulgogi in a while outside of Kbbq and the flavors on this dish was very good. The bottom part of the rice soaks up the sauces from the bulgogi and is caramelized on the hot stone plate making it crispy. If you are into textures, this might be the dish for you. I think with additional rice, you can easily share this dish between two people as well. While the prices might seem expensive, the quality of the food justifies the price in my opinion (I'm sure they pay high rent for being in Irvine). I've paid a few dollars cheaper for similar food in other places in the area and have been more often let down by the food quality. The ambiance was cozy and the service was great. Some of the staff reminded me of my mom when it came to seeing whether or not we had enough food, side dishes, etc. One staff even helped me pack up the cold noodles when she saw me struggling with the soup. This restaurant has improved so much throughout the years. I personally think they are one of the best Korean restaurant in Irvine. The two ladies (owners?) are always friendly and very accommodating to all patrons. Food is delicious consistently. And although I do love their side dishes, I just wish they wouldn't be so sweet, but I can understand why too. They're trying to accommodate the non Korean customers. This place has been our go-to place for sizzling bibimbap ever since pre-pandemic. We went again last Saturday for our usual favorite, marinated beef bibimbap, something was off. So we were super lucky when we went because there was a table available for us. It's a very small location and it's pretty busy. The staff is very nice and the food is delicious. I ordered the beef bowl and it was huge. So flavorful and delicious. I really liked all the sides they had come out with it too. Although "Tang" means hot stew (and boy were their stews tempting to try), we came for their cold buckwheat noodles and bibimbap. They were both so good, we were pleasantly pleased. As a Korean who's tried many Korean restaurants, here are some (great) things I've noticed: 1. Their restaurant is clean and pleasant, especially for the type of Korean dishes they offer. 2 Their waitresses are so friendly 3. They are not stingy with their side dishes, and come around often asking if we want more. 4. Their wait is not horrendous, we did not have to wait on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. Amazing Korean spot in East Irvine. I've been craving cold noodles recently and decided to try this place out. We got the combo meal 4C. Noodles in cold broth + LA galbi for 34.99. The soup was phenomenal. I have a more saltier palette, so I really enjoyed the combo of sesame and vinegar from the broth. The noodles were very satisfying to eat and the portion was quite large. This combo meal could be shared by two people easily. The galbi was also very flavorful, I just wished some of the pieces of meat were bigger and less fatty- felt like some pieces of meat were 80% bone. Visited Tang 190 this past weekend as we have been experiencing a few rainy days in Southern California. This place is located in a shopping center that offers plenty of parking. Tang 190 has both indoor and outdoor seating and you join the waiting list using the tablet located by their front door. They offer a variety of soups (spicy and non-spicy), rice dishes, noodle dishes and dumplings. My sister and I ordered the cabbage galbi-tang, beef cartilage soup and the dumplings to share. The cabbage galbi-tang was very well balanced and it was not very spicy; the beef cartilage soup comes in a clear broth (as it is customary in many korean restaurants for this type of soups, you add the salt to taste; Tang 190 also offers black pepper and my sister mentioned that adding the black pepper to this soup made a big difference). The dumplings were also very good, the quality of the filling and the wrapper made a big difference in this dish. They also offer a variety of side dishes (kimchi, raddish kimchi, cucumber kimchi, potato salad and stir fried fish cakes). The staff is very attentive in refilling the drinks and side dishes. The menu is very straightforward, most entrees ranging from $20-$30 but all are shareable sizes! I ended up getting the spicy beef soup. The soup came out piping hot. The broth was very savory and packed with umami. I absolutely loved it. It had a nice kick packed with spice and had just the right amount of heat. As for the braised beef, there's so much of it!
