Really loved this spot! Great location for campus & delicious (& inexpensive!) food. We had four different tacos- the 101, the shrimp melt, the catfish taco & the chicken/waffle taco. All were delicious but the chicken/waffle one was the winner- hands down! It sounds strange, but it was amazing! We also had the fried truffle corn & the onion blossomy thing- both were good but the corn was WAY better than the onion. Of all five things we had, the onion was our least favorite. Considering it was still delicious, I'd call this a serious win! Can't wait to go back again. read more

Tangent is anything but a strait line. But it does live up to going off in a different direction, and foodies like my family, friends and I couldn't be more thankful. This category-defying restaurant and bar fuses perennial indies like fried green tomatoes and soft taco shells to create dishes that keep you coming back again and again. And, if the food weren't enough, the Mojitos and the staff teem with good vibes. My family and I experienced Tangent multiple times this weekend while in town for my daughter's graduation from Elon. The experience added to our already great joy. I guess now, we'll have to make Tangent our destination restaurant. read more

Really awesome. I've never eaten anything disappointing here. It's clear that the owners and staff take pride in putting out consistently high-quality items. They have several awesome staples on the menu, but my favorite aspect is that they often rotate through new, interesting taco creations as well. You won't get bored eating here. Yes, there can be a bit of a wait, but I take that as a good sign. It means lots of people want to keep coming back for the food, and also that they are preparing everything fresh when you order. What to expect? Great quality, creative food. Pretty sure the only downside is that it can be crowded depending on the university schedule at Elon, but the food is really worth the wait even when it's busy, and the service is always super friendly. Reasonably priced drinks, as well, if you want a cocktail with your food. I highly recommend it. read more

My roommate and I have been frequenting Tangent for the last three years. Two major issues have caused us to stop eating here: 1. Undercooked food. The Shrimp Melt tacos and Chicken Fried Rice's meat were both undercooked, my roommate and I vomited on a few occasions this semester, and after examining the meat this time we're certain it is undercooked. I didn't know it was so difficult to cook chicken. With shrimp, I'm willing to cut them some slack, but chicken, no way. 2. Portions in the chicken fried rice. For the first couple of years we went to Tangent, the take out box would be filled to the brim with rice and chicken. This year it has been about 20% filled, but still the same price. I called once and asked them to put the appropriate amount of food in, and received even less. It was almost laughable. Please get better! read more

Absolutely love this place. Tonight was my second night here with my fiancé and a friend. The food is phenomenal. I love the chicken and waffle taco and the shrimp melt taco along with the steak fried rice. Food comes out and is always hot. Tonight I was a little disappointed.. not at all in the food but the wait. My fiancé's friend received his food and we didn't get ours until 20 to 30 minutes later. I will be coming back but hopefully next time the wait isn't too bad. read more

Tangent tacos are seriously some of the most creative and delicious fusion foods in the Piedmont area! My favorite taco is the shrimp melt, however the fried catfish and the chicken and waffles are also are also spot on. The wait can be on the lengthier side and there isn't a lot of seating indoors, but in my personal opinion the wait is ALWAYS worth it. read more

This restaurant is owned by the same family the owns The Root, a burger place. This is their twist on tacos. The place was busy and noisy with Elon College students. Plus a fundraiser going on for a local private day school. Despite this, the service was fast and friendly. My wife had the Chicken & Waffle taco and the Fried Green Tomato taco. I had the Taco 101 with Steak taco and the Spicy Fried Catfish taco. We shared an order of Fried Corn on the Comb. All the food was good. Suggestions: 1. Refillable drinks that are not water. 2. Complete meals sold with sides. Along with a la carte items. 3. A bigger dining room. 4. More food choices that are not tacos or Mexican. read more

Waiting over an hour for my food, came after 73 minutes and I asked for no cheese or queso or dairy because I'm allergic. This is the second time they gave me tacos with cheese and forgot to log that I asked for no chesse even though I said I had an allergy.
