Tanja Lippert photographed our wedding on Oct. 3rd, 2015. Within days of receiving the gorgeous gallery, we had her beautiful images hung all over our house. : ) It was also so much fun gifting prints to our family and friends for the holidays soon after. Everyone loves the photos! I'm sure it will sound odd to those of you reading this that the first time I cried on my wedding day, was when Tanja arrived. I am a wedding photographer as well, and Tanja is the reason I am in the industry. I thank her each time I photograph a wedding or reach a professional goal, because without her I wouldn't be where I am today...So, even the thought of having Tanja, my most precious inspiration, at my wedding day in any shape or form makes my heart flutter. But she wasn't just present, she photographed the day and it was a dream come true for me and then some. Alongside Tanja's original style, her personality is just the best. Her quirkiness is my favorite! I love that she isn't afraid to act like a huge dork! On a personal (and professional) level, I relate to her very well, which made our wedding day that much more fun. That said, I can safely say that you don't have to have a history with Tanja to feel connected to her, it is easy to feel it the first day you meet her, which is so valuable for your wedding day and the experience you have with the photography. I found her on the blog www.stylemepretty.com and after looking through her pictures, I decided to meet with her. We met at her residence (yeah, I know...her house! Which is LOVELY.) and for two hours, we talked all things wedding related. Not only was she a gracious host but she was easy to talk to, organized, professional, knowledgeable and well connected with other vendors (she provided me with several contact names and numbers of other vendors). This review is really for Artique, which is the boutique part of Tanja's photography business. I happened upon the shop around the holidays, as it's just down the street from my favorite breakfast spot, Southern Kitchen. The holiday display was very pretty so I wandered in. At first I was confused because I wasn't sure if I was in a photography studio or a boutique. It turns out that Artique is both. Tanja runs her photography business out of this space, but she also sells accessories, photo albums, and gifts here. I fell in love with the beautiful handmade albums, which you can have customized to your taste by selecting the fabric you like. There was one that was covered with a gorgeous rust-colored silk. Unfortunately I couldn't justify buying myself a present during the holidays. But I did enjoy browsing all the antique-y hair accessories and brooches. If I ever need photography done for a special occasion, I would want to hire Tanja and be adorned by some of her beautiful pieces. If you're in Los Gatos and are in the mood to shop, I'd recommend taking the time to find this beautiful little boutique. It's off the main drag, but worth the short walk. We LOVE her!! I had a dilemma about getting a photographer for our wedding. I wanted it captured just right for prosperity and to pass down to our children, but I'm not one that is a natural in front of a camera. That's why I choose her because she really directs you in getting you to feel like a model...I guess it comes from her modeling days. When we got our engagement photos back people couldn't believe it. They were something out of a magazine photo shoot & I'm not kidding. I'm a designer & photographer, so I know extraordinary photography when I see it. She's also very easy to work with and she's very professional and laid-back, along with her husband who second shot at our wedding. We won't get our wedding photos back for probably another 6 weeks or so and I'm already chomping at the bit. She also really listened to me and made sure she got the shots I really wanted at my wedding I'm sure. She works with film and also used some film that was very specialized, like infrared. She made everyone in my wedding party feel really at ease too. Also, PLEASE invest in her friend Tia to do your styling hair and makeup. You will NOT be disappointed. Down-to-earth and great at what she does, she gets you photo-shoot ready and always at hand to swipe away that tendril that got away in the wind. SOOOOO much better than just using a salon stylist that is only there with you before the wedding. Tia was there throughout and was always keeping my lips refreshed with gloss. Tanja (and Tia, the stylist and second shooter Karen) photographed our wedding at Nestldown about two months ago. To write a review of everything that we loved about the professionalism, the photographs and the attitude of Tanja and her team would surely exceed the space that Yelp affords for a review. We interviewed a total of three photographers after reviewing a couple of dozen recommended by places like Here comes the guide, Style me pretty, and other photographers whose work we liked. For us, the photographer was one of the most important things for our wedding - it is the main way we will remember our big day. We wanted someone with a journalistic approach but with artistic style. We are have only ever had professional photographs once back in high school but Tanja's time in front of the camera as a model translates into expert advice from behind the camera that kept us loose and looking good. She can transform mere mortals like ourselves into photos that people tell us are incredible. We did an engagement session with her in order to feel more relaxed and get to know her. She does everything from helping pick out your outfits to keeping you laughing while she takes you to her secret photo locations. *Highly recommended* The option to spend a day together in advance and get an idea for how to work with her took all of the stress of photographs from our wedding day and made them easy. As another yelper said, she's encouraging which is a huge bonus when you have one million things on your mind. The last thing you want to feel is like your photographer is not giving 110% since you spend so much time with them on your wedding day. As a side note, my wife gave me a book of boudoir photographs as my wedding gift that she shot with Tanja and Tia over two (adventurous) sessions. I can't imagine anything more perfect from the woman who is the love of my life and the pictures that Tanja took so perfectly capture her beauty and charisma and it's all bound in a stunning hand-made book from her shop. One word, "Amazing"...ok maybe a few more. My husband and I had Tanja photograph our wedding and she was a ton of fun. Guests and family can not get over how beautiful her photos are and how they captured the entire event (not just the boring bride, groom and family shots). Tanja's photography is a work of art. Her creative photography brings out a person's best features and the pictures look like they came out of a fashion spread. Think Vogue, W Magazine, Elle, etc. The pictures look like a campaign ad from valentino, Chanel, Estee Lauder Perfumes, to name a few examples. I first met Tanja when about 3 years ag.o when she just moved into the Bay Area from Oregon. I was looking for a wedding photographer and met her through husband. She came to meet me and showed me her portfolio. I was blown away by how creative and beautiful her photos were. She shoots in both black/white as well as color. Since she uses special film for the color photos, the colors jump right out and looks so beautiful. Her black and white pictures reminds me of the 1950's or 1960's era where everything looks so romantic and classy. I have taken my engagement,wedding, creative, maternity, family, and daughter's 1 year old pictures with Tanja and the pictures are always beautiful as well as unique. Being a former model herself and having owned he own modeling agency, she has been in the industry for numerous years and has first hand experience of what a photo should look like. When planning our wedding last year, one of the most important decisions we were faced with was choosing the photographer. Upon researching a "keep film alive" website, I found Tanja. She was one of the few photographers in the area who still shoots with film. That alone set her apart from the rest, and when I looked at her website I was equally as impressed. From the moment I spoke to her, I knew she was the one I wanted to work with. I felt like I had known her forever as we talked for almost an hour over the phone. I booked her right then, without even meeting her in person. Her work speaks for itself, but to meet her is to truly experience the "gift" that she possesses. She has a way with people that is difficult to put into words. She makes you feel completely comfortable in your own skin, so much so that you actually allow yourself to be in the moment and forget that she is there with the camera. This effect produces the most genuine pictures that do not look posed or fake. She captures all of the love and excitement of the day, without interrupting it for even a moment. Tanja shot my engagement session and my recent wedding on Aug 6th at the Bently Reserve. Photography was super important to us. We looked through hundreds of portfolios and interviewed at least 15 ppl. It was a huge process for us. We wanted someone in the Bay Area, artistic with a romantic feel and we wanted to feel comfortable around him/her. We found her on Style Me Pretty. I love Tanja and it was a match made in heaven the moment I stepped into her studio. Her personality lights up the room and I'm so grateful that we found her, she will be our life photographer as I need family photos, boodie wah... Engagement session: This was great cause we were able to work together before the wedding. last minute her makeup artist/stylist Tia had an emergency and couldn't make our shoot. Since we had already taken the day off of work, we decided to go on with the session anyway. She kindly discounted us, did my hair and makeup and styled us providing clothes, etc.. and we had a blast going around town. We left the shoot a little skeptical cause we had never done anything like it before and was curious how the pictures would turn out. She sees things in her head and takes pictures in film only. It's pure talent. The pictures came out amazing. I couldn't believe it was us. Wedding Day: Her second shooter called out sick the day of so Tanja was able to replace him for the ceremony / reception. It would have been nice to have someone else there but we made the best of it and she was able to shoot everything, we even got in boodie wah pictures while we were waiting for the boys. Besides the artistry where she see's pictures in her head, she's an amazing director. Tons of energy. She's not hourly like most photographers so she stayed until she felt she was done and by then everyone was drunk and partying their butts off. i have yet to see her wedding pictures but I know they'll be beautiful. read more

I found Tanja in 2005 when she was on the verge of becoming a superstar. I had interviewed 4 other photographers, but none had the style or price I was looking for. Back then, Tanja worked our of her home, so we met at a local Starbucks. She greeted me with her 6' stature, funky attire and beautiful smile. She had me at hello, literally. We share the same aesthetic and I knew we were a match made in heaven. She had the personality and eye for unique detail I was looking for. I did not want the traditional pictures...I wanted something different. Looking at some of Tanja's past works...I knew she would deliver. And of course, she has gone above and beyond our wildest expectations! Tanja shot our engagement photos, our wedding, and our newest addition...miss Chloe, our enchanting 2-year old daughter. Where to begin...from the first moment my husband (then fiance) and I met Tanja, we absolutely loved her. She has such a warm, beautiful, fun personality, that instantly put us at ease. On our wedding day, she was so much fun to work with! I was feeling a little stressed and nervous (as most brides feel), but once we started taking photos, my husband and I both began laughing and began to relax and enjoy our wedding day. Tanja made our special day unforgettable! That being said, her photographs are absolutely amazing - actually I wish I could think of a better word to use because amazing does not cover it. Her composition, use of light, and uncanny ability to capture priceless moments is unreal. I was expecting nice photos, but our photos are like pieces of art, no joke. I think my wedding album will be about 300 pages long!
