Moments later, a couple of distinguished gents walked in and sat at a huge round table cater-corner from me and soon thereafter the nice man who took my order sat down with them. I'm assuming he was the owner for obvious reasons. I gained more respect for this establishment because customer service goes a very long way with me and he obviously cared about that. Our server, a very friendly young lady, brought my drink out and I was surprised to see that it was served in what looked like a sippy cup, with a cartoon design on the lid. Kinda weird seeing as I am an adult, but it was a tasty beverage, nonetheless. My friend showed up as the spring rolls and chicken wings came out. We devoured both, which were delicious and then placed our orders. I went with lobster noodles and my friend got the beef tenderloin pho. Even though my entree presentation wasn't the best, it was a very tasty dish to both of us. The beef tenderloin pho was definitely the star of the show! The broth was fragrant and flavorful and the beef was tender beyond measure. I'm an avid ramen fan but this pho definitely had my attention and I can't wait to try more. Ocean Bar and Grill is such a cute, quirky place that caters to date night diners, groups and families. They were all in there that night and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I know I did. The restaurant brags about its phở broth and it's very good, very meaty and balanced. There are also large platter options (lettuce wraps, for example) and hot pot options. I didn't try the hot pot, but the group one table over had it. Speaking of the other group, so many varied entrees came out of the kitchen - it was cool to see more than just phở. The waitstaff is quick... almost to the point of impatient! But never problematic. Be aware that dishes fly out of the kitchen as they are ready. One bowl might come out way before the others. An appetizer might come out last. It just whatever is ready (it appears). Also, their takeout game is strong, judging by the amount of trays ready to go and people coming in to carry-out. It's a little far for me to do takeout, but still nice to see.

I am so happy to share my dining experience at another new restaurant in the rapidly changing/moving Six Corners area. A friend and I lunched at Tank Kitchen and Bar, which is located at 4706 W. Irving Park Road. I'm sure many Chicagoans of a certain age will fondly recall that the space formerly housed the millinary store Hats Plus. My hat off (pun intended) to them. Although I have to agree with another diner that service was slow, and the server doesn't have a follow, I'll l reserve judgement as he may be new. We were pleasantly surprised on the restaurant's carefully planned layout and beautiful ambiance. It's 'purple, gray, white and chrome theme, open kitchen concept and two bars is absolutely beautiful and inviting. The restaurant's menu is not as extensive as what you might find at most Asian restaurants, but it has some of the same dishes that made its Uptown location, Tank, a success; such as pho, congee, and boba tea. In addition there are meat dishes (grilled steak served over a bed of lettuce and sprinkled with ground toasted rice (different, no?); refreshing and surprisingly different salads like their minty/basil papaya salad served over a bed of lettuce; a combination plate (which we had) that includes thinly sliced grilled steak, shrimp and Vietnamese egg roll served over cool rice noodles, spring rolls, and more. They have refreshing fruit flavored teas and a lovely bar menu. There is more to explore and I intend to that just that. Maybe they'll get 5 stars. read more

Same as the original location in Argyle, the taste and presentation are so commercialized. Its like Mcdonalds of Vietnamese cuisine. There are many authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Chicago area to try, so avoid this location. I will never recommend. read more
