Seating, plenty more tables behind me but I'm not gonna take pictures of the staff or randoms.

Came in at 1:30p on a Wednesday, 2 beautiful female staff that were friendly and helpful and attentive to clients who came through the door. I got a LRG s'mores coffee with almond milk plus a toasted croissant the total was about $11. Their menu has a decent selection, the hours are reasonable considering the part of town they're located in. Saba was exceptionally helpful and I was surprised to hear it was her first day. Run to get coffee whipped up by this tattooed, pierced beauty.

Peach tidal wave and iced americano.

It's a fun bikini barista concept, but beyond that the coffee is great and the staff are super welcoming.

I came during lunch time and it was packed. The host was so sweet and handed us some menus to look…read moreover while we waited for our entire party to arrive. Once we were ready she had our table already prepared. We have to order inside first before you can be seated. Once seated our food came out not too long after. Everything looked and tasted delicious! We ordered the chilaquiles verde, short rib omelette, tropical pancakes (seasonal), and the mango curd french toast (seasonal). The chilaquiles verde was savory and tangy. It wasn't soggy at all and definitely one of my favorite dishes. The short rib omelette was savory but didn't give me any wow factor compared to the other dishes I ordered. The tropical pancakes were so pretty. I only tried a piece of it without the syrup which I think was a mistake because the kumquat syrup was my friend's favorite. I definitely need to try it again with the syrup. Best for last, mango curd French toast was my favorite! I fell in love with sweetness and tanginess of the mango curd. The French toast was soft and you can taste the butter. I wish it was a main menu item. I'll definitely be sad to see it go. They have lots of seating inside and outside.

My husband ordered me the lemon ricotta pancakes this morning, which I've had from this restaurant…read morebefore, so I know exactly how they're supposed to taste. The moment I took my first bite, I immediately noticed that the ricotta tasted sour and spoiled. I drove back to the restaurant to request a refund. Unfortunately, my refund was not honored because the manager, Aimee, was not present. Karely, the lead on duty, seemed unsure of how to handle the situation and attempted to explain that the sour taste was simply the lemon in the ricotta. That explanation was disappointing because there is a clear difference between the intended lemon flavor and the taste of spoiled dairy. What upset me most was the lack of concern, apology, or effort to make the situation right. As a customer, I expected the issue to be taken seriously, especially when food safety is involved. If a manager is unavailable, staff should be properly trained and empowered to handle customer concerns appropriately. I am currently four months pregnant, which made this experience even more concerning. I wasted my time, gas, and energy driving back to the restaurant, only to leave without a refund or any resolution. This was by far the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in Downey, and unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Impressed!!! Food, scrumptious! Views, incredible! Drinks, potent!! Visit was at 8:15pm on 6/5…read more Thanks to our wonderful service Queen who recommended I get the Ribeye over the traditional steak frites. Kid you not, this Ribeye was trimmed, seasoned, and cooked to PERFECTION!! I cannot recall the last time that I enjoyed a ribeye and was able to eat every single bite on my plate. Ribeye is known for it's marbling, but also notorious for hitting the table with inedible portions of gristle or unrendered fat. Not here mon frère! The ribeye was served with a large portion of SLAPPIN' parmesan truffle fries, the like of which I've never had, and an equally large portion of perfectly textured string beans. For context, we were originally just planning on having drinks, so I had no idea what to expect when it was decided that we were also having dinner. I knew that Perch was renowned for it's views, but I never imagined the food would be this good. I also ordered the pork belly appetizer which was the perfect starter. The belly could have been a little more tender, but devoured it with zero complaints. The accompanying slaw was so good, I could have eaten it as a side on its own. 2 hats off to the BOH and the FOH on this one. Really really well done food. Ribeye plate ~$52 and Pork Belly App ~$17. I tried several cocktails-Penicillin and The Golden Hour and both were fantastic. I especially enjoyed the generous portions of candied ginger that were atop the Penicillin-what a nice and welcomed touch. With the incredible views, I expected the drinks to be in the $20+ range, but most, if not all, were $17 or $18. The drinks were well prepared and also very solid in terms of alcohol content. Remember the Vista Views apartments, where there ain't no vistas and there ain't no views? Well that's because all of the views are right here at Perch. While the inside was well decorated and stood solidly on its own, the outside views were remarkable. I cannot wait to come back to Perch and celebrate another occasion. Thank you to the wonderful servers and chefs at Perch.

Parking can be a bit tight during busy hours since it's in a small shared shopping center, but that's a minor trade-off for such great food. Overall, Pop's Cafe is a solid, reliable breakfast spot that we keep coming back to.

They went all out for her birthday and they also worked with us to make sure that her birthday cake was brought out during the happy birthday song! Our server cracked jokes the entire night and made sure we got sauces and water whenever we needed. As for the food, we started with the Kala Sampler, which has asada nacho bites, chicken buffalo wings, potato and chicken tinga, and taquito dorados. The Kala Sampler is good for four people so order accordingly if you have a bigger party. My hubby and I shared the parillada, which had multiple meats that can be put into either a corn or flour tortilla along with rice and beans. For meat, we had marinated steak, chicken breast, seasoned shrimp, cactus, and chorizo. My favorite was the seasoned shrimp. The steak felt dry to me but everything was still good and flavorful with the molcajete salsa, which tasted like sweet tomato. We were not able to finish and had to take most of this home because the portions are just that generous! All this for the price of $55 for the parillada. They also offer this service where they take a complimentary group photo and they print other individual and couple photos for sale. I never understood the business model of these services but at least you get a complimentary photo with the Kalaveras logo!

Visited on 06/01/2026 at approximately 8:30 PM…read more I rarely leave negative reviews because I work in the restaurant industry and understand that everyone can have an off day. However, I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this location. The service we received from Oscar was poor from start to finish. It genuinely felt like he either did not want to be at work that day or simply did not want to serve a table of two. What made it more frustrating is that a larger party came in later and he seemed more happy to help the and took his time. The restaurant was not busy. When we arrived, Oscar only had one table, and throughout our visit it appeared he had no more than three to five tables total. Despite that, my mother and I felt ignored for most of the evening. What made this especially disappointing was that I chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Instead of feeling welcomed, we left feeling overlooked and unimportant. The one bright spot of the night was Nisa, the hostess. She was friendly, helpful, and stepped in toward the end to assist us. Her professionalism was appreciated and was the only positive part of our visit. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this location. It felt like the focus was on serving larger parties while smaller tables received little attention.
