Really happy to have learned about this restaurant! We ordered a Gyro Plate (w/yellow rice & French fries), a Arambeet Sandwich, and a Feta Cheese Sandwich to-go. Ingredients were fresh and food was seasoned well. Everything was packed nicely and in biodegradable containers. It's good to know that they didn't provide napkins or utensils, but I think it's to reduce waste, which we all really appreciated. Looking forward to trying more of their menu! read more

Lovely ambience, Good number of tables, very high ceilings etc. The food was good. we tried lamb kebobs, chicken, Fries with Batata Hara sauce, Mana+'eesh & the turkish Coffee with cardamom The entrees were cooked well & portions were decent sized. The sauce with Fries was super delicious The lebanese pizza was something I will never order. I am not sure if it is suppose to be covered rather drenched in zatar seasoning. But we barely ate a slice. Coffee , it was grainy with coffee powder in it. If it is not be stirred than I think the staff should be telling/instructing the customers about it. We paid slightly over $100 including tip which i think was expensive for this. Would I try this again? I am not sure. would I recommend my friends to give it a shot? I am not sure. read more

My first time ordering from Tanoor I decided to try the Mezze Medley for lunch and dinner. I've been watching YouTube Mark Wiens and his Lebanon travels so I was psyched to find Tanoor and try some new things. Also I am trying to do veg for a day I hate eggplant just not my thing but mash it up to the point of hummus, pour some garlic and smoky paprika with lemon tahini and olive oil! Magnificent! Some of the best Baba ghanous I've ever had. The dolmas are perfect. I've tasted dolmas from a dozen places around here and some are not worthy this is. The falafel Is some of the best around as well. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. I had some falafel from a place in Factoria that could have broke a tooth. This is nice and tender and flavorful. Everything was great and it was plenty for two meals or for two to share. Everything was great looking forward to trying more. read more

Run, don't walk to Tanoor. We made an online reservation via the website. We walked in and were sat immediately. Within minutes there was a plate of fresh, hot pita and seasoned olive oil dip. I would have been happy what just that. We ordered halloumi fries, hummus, chicken wings and a spinach/ pomegranate molasses stuffed bread. Our oldest had a vegetarian sandwich. All had wonderful, fresh flavors. The Turkish coffee was presented beautifully and was so smooth. The view, also lovely. We were inside but it all opened to the sunshine and views. Having experienced Tanoor in Seattle, we were super excited to find a "Tanoor" closer to where we live. We were here on a weekend night for dinner. The place was packed and their bread was being freshly made in the tandoor oven, which were all great signs for an awesome dining experience, I couldn't wait!!! We got seated rather quickly and we decided to re-live the Tanoor experience we had in Seattle by placing a similar order as before. Things got a bit tricky after our food arrived. Batata Harra fries-super crispy and definitely not fresh Mint lemonade- mint water with lemonade component totally missing Mint moroccon tea-the serving cup had some weird smell and the tea definitely not hot Greek salad-on the soggy side with unpitted olives The yellow rice and the chicken kebabs did not disappoint! So my 3 stars are for these items and the service! Overall the food was cold. It could be the time we visited (an hour before their closing time) or may be it is this particular Tanoor.Sad to say that we did not have the same experience as it's Seattle counterpart. read more

We got take out from Tanoor to celebrate election results! Fatayir Spaneekh was my favorite dish! It's not just an ordinary spinach pie; the onions, pomegranate molases and sumac make the taste sensational! We tried Lahmeh Bajeen this time, which is a ground beef flat bread. It was fine, but I'll probably try a veggie glad bread next time. Or I may just order a few Fatayor Spanrekhs! Yum! Take outs come with a bread, but if you want Zataar you need to order them. Pretty cheep, but delicious! I do miss dinning in, because they keep bringing more bread and filling the zataar! All in all, I'd definitely recommend this place. Absolutely by design and intentional, but I still consider Sammamish one of the most boring, sterile, iceberg-lettuce-like 'burbs and I never venture out here unless I have to. Thank goodness for restaurants like Tanoor. The food here is outstanding and the venue is wonderful when the huge windows are propped open and the weather is cooperating. With larger parties, we just go all-in family style: BEEF & LAMB SFIHA, ARAMBEET, DAJAJ MISHWEH, Beef Kabobs, Lamb Kabobs, Shish Tawook & Kafta Kabobs with Grilled Vegetables, and enough pita bread baskets to be slightly embarrassed about it. The bread lamb kabob was wrapped was very tough to bite on and hard pull it apart. Shashuka has huge chunks of tomatoes onion iyifyk. Shish Tawook chicken was dry and rice is very dry and has no flavor. Coffee was okay but it cooled down very quickly and there is lot of coffee powder lingering in mouth and cup, I even coughed! We had two vegans and a dairy allergy in our family and all of them found multiple delicious items to choose from. The service was top notch, the food amazing (please try their hummus - it's the BEST), the lemonades are delicious (I had a mint lemonata and they have fruit versions as well) and the Turkish coffee rich and beautifully presented. Our ONLY grumble was that we were a little too fat for one side of the booth. Luckily the skinny half of our group could take that side! We recommend the Arambeet (a flash-fried cauliflower dish), the hummus, any of the sandwiches, batata harra (fries topped with a delicious sauce), grilled vegetable plate, and I think just about anything on the menu! The chicken tasted a bit dry, the pita and hummus were ok, frankly have had better tasting Mediterranean food elsewhere. A good thing was that the portion size was good and it was quite filling. The Mezze Medley is a good way to try a variety of the vegetarian appetizers they have to offer. We went with Spicy Hummus, Cheese Fatayir, halloumi fries, Falafel patties, and Fatayir Spaneekh. All were delicious but our favorites were definitely the Spicy Hummus and the addictive halloumi fries. Dessert was also great - we had the knefeh and Nutella man'oushe. Love Tanoor and recommend it to everyone to at least try once when they're in Sammamish! Tanoor has an amazing decor and ambiance that you notice as soon as you walk in. You can see their open kitchen design and see how they make their pitas (more on that later). When you are seated in the dining room, you see the beautiful decor and also the large windows that overlook the hill. As much as I love their decor, I love their food even more. They start you off with fresh pita bread (complimentary and delicious) which I can never get enough of. I have had pretty much the rest of their menu and you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. I am not from the area, so cannot tell you how authentic it is, but the flavors are amazing. Their service is also pretty top-notch as they have more than enough waiters/staff in the dining area. PS - I have not held any event or special gatherings at Tanoor, but I believe that it would be a great place to do so. Had lunch at Tanoor today, and it was a treat! Our server Ben was great, we had lots of questions he never seemed annoyed and actually seemed happy that we we're happy, which is a great server. We started with the cauliflower which he suggested and did not disappoint soooo much flavor! We also had a salad with fried pita it was good not anything spectacular but everything else was just so amazing, the fresh pita they bring out, he brought it out for us throughout our lunch, we had the babagounche which was one of the best I've ever had, French fries were the best crispiesT fries with this spicy sauce that I could put all oveer everything (like their rice) oooh yum! By the time we got the combo kabob plate we were pretty full I tried the lAmb which was perfectly cooked and great texture. I'll be back again! Worth the drive from Bellevue for sure!!!!! read more

I need to give them another try because I was not impressed with their food which is a shame because the restaurant itself is super pretty. I love the open (no windows) concept, specially during warm summer nights when the breeze is so appreciated. 4 star because of great food...but hate the shady service charge...will talk about food first and come back to this charge many restaurants adopt at end. The food is great. I love the Halloumi Fries...specially the pomegranate molasses adds a unique taste that i do not get elsewhere. I also like to get the fatayir spaneekh which is very similar to big spinakopita (my last order did not have pomegranate molasses in it) My usual order is the shawarma plate, with baba ganoush and mixed lentil rice. But their shish taouk is great as well and the shakshuka if you can stand a bit more tomato tang. Also the bread and zataar at the beginning is sooo nice and warm and tasty...but make sure DO NOT fill yourself up on bread like my granma always yelled. Now the new service charge...Whats the point of adding the 5% charge and keeping item price same... Just increase the damn menu prices if I am going to pay 5% more anyway as taxes and tip are added on top of service charge. You know big chains did loose a lawsuit because of such convoluted charging scheme ...so just something to be cautious about. Or alternatively...advertize 3 dollar items but add 5% gas charges 2%electric 10%cook charge 5%service charge 40%rent ,etc.etc. charge on top of it...but the shwarma will cost same as it did years ago...how does that sound. By simply browsing their photos, I can almost taste the ethnic flavors of Tanoor's dishes based on the beautiful presentation of each plate glowing with colorful ingredients. Their food is just as lovely as the restaurant itself, adorned with cultural decor and brightened by natural light pouring through a wall of retractable windows. However, it's not all about the looks. While our first impressions started out great, our experience unfortunately waned throughout the evening as we encountered a mix of highs and lows. Five of us visited for an early dinner and were immediately seated by the window with an overhead view of the Sammamish marketplace. Our server greeted us with warm pita and herbed olive oil for dipping. We love sampling as much as possible and opted for the Family Mashawi Mixed Grill ($115) which is a spread of beef, lamb, chicken kafta (beef + lamb), veggies, rice and a choice of five vegetarian side dish items. If you order this, definitely arrive hungry as this is a true feast perfect for those who love a variety! For our sides, we selected the Spicy Hummus, Babaghanouge, Stuffed Grape Leaves, Arambeet and Falafel. My favorite was the Arambeet which is flash-fried cauliflower topped with tahini and spices. The golden brown fry really livened up an otherwise normally bland vegetable - amazing! I also enjoyed the spicy hummus which I spread on the warm pita. It had a medium heat with the perfect balance of garlic, sesame and spices. With this being my first time trying babaghanouge, I was surprised at its smokiness and actually didn't sense a hint of eggplant at all. The falafel was super crisp on the outside and I could taste the medley of fresh herbs mixed in. Sadly, I wasn't a huge fan of the stuffed grape leaves, but perhaps this is just due to personal preference. The rice stuffing was quite acidic for my taste and I had to rely on the cool tzaziki to mellow it out. After we polished off the sides, they served the main course of the meat, savory yellow rice and a side of grilled vegetables. This is where things began heading downhill. We had requested that the meats (except for the chicken) be cooked to a medium, but it all seemed to be overdone. At least the beef and lamb were somewhat tender and well-seasoned, but the chicken was unfortunately VERY dry. The pieces of meat were kebob-sized, so I can see how they could have been quickly overcooked, but with the meat being the main feature, this was rather disappointing. I found the kafta to be the best of all; it's a combination of ground beef and lamb which was rich but moist like a hearty meatball. Service started out on a good note, but after our side dishes were served, it seemed that our waiter went on a break and ultimately disappeared for the remainder of our meal. After receiving our Mixed Grill, waters were left unfilled and we weren't checked on again until they brought us the bill. Despite the ups and downs, I'd be open to giving Tanoor a second chance and would still recommend for those seeking a wholesome Mediterranean meal. 3.25 stars. read more

You wouldn't think you'd find good Lebanese food on the east side, let alone in a shopping center in Sammamish. Tanoor is a true gem. It's situated up four floors and gives you a nice view of the mountains. The ceilings are incredibly high and the ambiance is great. You get a nice view of the kitchen before you walk in and see where all the amazing bread is baked. For food, we didn't know what to order so we decided to get the mixed grill for two. You also get to pick three different veggie appetizers with it. We added the baba ghanoush, cheese fatayir, and grape leaves on top of all the lamb, beef, chicken, and veggies that came in our platter. Make sure to pick the yellow rice over the lentil rice, it's so much better because of how it's soaked up all the juices of the meat and is incredibly flavorful. For dessert, we tried the knaffeh. It's a pastry soaked in orange blossom syrup on top of melted cheese with pistachio crumble on top. Sounds wild, right? The main entrance door was kept open for some unknown reason and cold draft was flowing into our table. After talking to multiple people someone finally closed it. Tanoor is my favorite place to eat in Sammamish, as it serves some of the best Lebanese food in the Seattle area. For anyone wanting grilled meats with fresh, sides that mostly consist of garlic and lemon, then Tanoor is a godsend. Located in a shopping plaza where Overlake is, it's on the upper level right in the middle of the business area of Sammamish. Parking is easy to find with lots on the upper and lower levels of this plaza. We came for dinner and the place was pretty busy, but everyone was socially-distanced due to the pandemic. We noticed a lot of people were also getting takeout. There were many employees working, either servers or bussing tables to clear as many tables as possible during the dinner rush hour. The menu is large, with several different appetizers, sides, meat and non-meat options. My boyfriend and I ordered the mixed grill for 2-3, which was more than enough food for the two of us. But it truly is the best deal if you plan to come here with company and share the food because it has the most bang for your buck. The mixed grill includes beef, lamb, chicken and kofta kebabs with tons of veggies, over your choice of rice and three different veggie appetizers, as well as Lebanese garlic sauce and tzatziki. PLUS, you get complimentary bread to start with. Holy moly was the food epic! I say epic because it was a heap of wonderful goodness, so the size and flavor is what's up here. We didn't want to fill up on the bread even though the pita bread was awesome, especially since it comes fluffy versus flat, with a side of an oil-based dip. But you'll want to save some for what's to come, which is easy to do since they gave us like, eight pitas for two people. Then everything came and it only got better from there. Of all the meats, I was most surprised by the chicken. I normally do not order grilled chicken because chicken can be so bland. But I kid you not - this chicken kebab was incredibly flavorful and moist. How do they get white meat so flavorful? That is deserving of five stars alone. But my favorite was the beef kebab because a medium rare steak over a grill is hard to beat. Yet, you really can't go wrong with any of it. Veggies were a great balance with all our meat over yellow rice. And of the three veggie appetizers we chose, the cauliflower was BOMB DOT COM. How do they cook this cauliflower so well? Something about the crisp edges on it with the tahini and spices was perfection. Do not skip out on the cauliflower! We also ordered the spicy hummus and falafel to complete our mixed grill, both of which were solid. Tanoor was a great place for Lebanese cuisine.
