Vermicelli rice bowl with bbq pork and egg roll
    Bradley C.

Hidden gem. One of if not the best vermicelli rice bowl I've ever had. Maybe it was just because I was really hungry but it was very filling and reasonably priced for the portion size. The lady at the front was so sweet that she gave us a free donut for our road trip. If you ever pass through Santa Rosa, support this mom and pop business!

What to look for in this very small strip mall

I can't comment on the donuts, but what I can comment on is the Cambodian food. I've never had Cambodian food until trying it here but it seems quite similar to Thai/Vietnamese food. The place is relatively small but has a few tables. The employee who has helped us twice (maybe the owner?) is very nice, and when we asked for recommendations, she helped us. The first time we went, I got the combination Vermicelli. If I recall correctly, it was quite good. The next time we went, we both got chicken Pad Thai (Husband ordered his extra spicy). It tasted a little bit different than Thai style Pad Thai, but it was very good. It was a bit expensive, but it seems like everything is these days. It's worth it for a once in a while treat. The Cambodian food is definitely worth giving a try.

    Pork spring rolls

Absolutely delicious pork spring rolls. I'd give 5 stars, but it was off hours, and still only 1 parking spot available. I was the only customer, and it took about 10 minutes. I'm not complaining because she was literally making the spring rolls fresh, but I'd recommend calling your order in ahead of time. Zero online presence that I could find, but friendly service and the spring rolls rocked!! Plenty of meat, stuffed with all the yummys and the rice paper didn't tear. Served with peanut satay sauce, and she offered sirrahcha, which I said Yes. The restaurant itself had a few dirty tables, and the ambiance wasn't really that great. I'll definitely go back, but I recommend taking your order to go

We just love this place, best customer service, always happy to go in and see the owners smiling face and she is the sweetest with our boys! Very clean, great selection of always fresh donuts and delicious boba teas!

    Apple fritter

Some people play small in life... that's not me. That's also not Tan's apple fritters because they are anything BUT small! In fact, they are the size of my head! The beauty of these babies is that they are perfectly cooked on the inside (not gooey or doughy) and deeply golden crisp on the outside. There are actually two layers of crunchiness that you get- first from the thick layer of glaze yielding under your bite, second from the actual crunch of the fried dough. The apples are also visible in the dough so its like you're getting a serving of fruit as well for those of you who are worried that you're cheating on your diet. This is a regular spot for me. I'll keep coming back.

The Vibe Walking in here is a trip. It's got that glorious,…read morequirky architectural DNA of a former fast-food joint, but instead of a sad burger, you're greeted with the kind of service that actually makes you feel like a human being. It's "drive-thru cool" meets "neighborhood gem." It's unpretentious, it's efficient, and it works. The Goods * The Pho: This isn't just soup; it's a spiritual experience. The broth is cleaner than a fresh audit and hits harder than a Monday morning deadline. * Banh Mi: The bread actually has that "shatter" factor. One bite and you're covered in crumbs like a happy disaster. It's the perfect ratio of crust, fluff, and savory kick. * Lemongrass Soup: If you need to wake up your senses, this is the lightning bolt. It's bright, herbaceous, and makes standard chicken noodle look like a nap. * Spring Rolls: Tight, fresh, and paired with a peanut sauce so good you'll want to take a pint of it home for later. The Bottom Line Forget the white tablecloths. If you want the real deal in Santa Rosa, you go to the place with the quirky layout and the elite kitchen. It's fast, it's fantastic, and it's got more character than a Russian novel.

I've been here before and the food is decent, though overpriced for what you get. This visit,…read morehowever, was a different experience entirely and one I feel other customers need to know about. We started with the BBQ pork spring rolls. The BBQ pork was shredded, which felt like a cost-cutting move on protein. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting for the price point. I was seated outside with my dog on a busy, loud street. I ordered a bánh mì sandwich by number. Our server came back mid-order to ask about rice or noodles, which I assumed was a clarifying question about my mom's vegetarian soup, as both dishes contained tofu. When the food arrived, I received lemongrass tofu and not what I ordered. I flagged it immediately. The server acknowledged the confusion but then returned to inform me that the owner, who was off-site and being reached by phone, was requiring me to pay for the wrong dish regardless. This is apparently their policy: if an order is made in error, the customer is still responsible for the cost. I asked to speak with the owner or an on-site manager. Both requests were denied. What I was told next genuinely shocked me: the server mentioned that the cost of the wrong dish would be split between the kitchen and serving staff. These employees were willing to cover a mistake out of their own pockets rather than push back on the owner. The server was visibly uncomfortable throughout the entire interaction. To be clear: the staff were kind and doing their best under what appeared to be a stressful and unfair working environment. This is a management issue, not a staff issue. If you dine here, confirm your order carefully, especially if seated outside where it's loud. And know that if the restaurant gets your order wrong, their policy may hold you responsible for it.

Vietnamese Iced Coffee- 11/10 I love a good Vietnamese iced coffee that's not too sweet, not too creamy, balanced just perfectly. Boba spots always advertise this coffee but have not been successful taste wise....... But this one is it! So well balanced, nice amount of bitterness to taste the coffee, really reasonably priced for a speciality drink. Tofu Banh Mi- Admittedly, I only got this because I needed some food. I never crave Banh Mi.... But that's because I haven't ever had an incredible one like this one! Seriously. Now I understand the hype. It was sweet, spicy, crunchy, savory, all the everything. The bonus? The kind man who helped me, and how fast the wait was. You can dine in if you'd like, but if you're on the go, it'll be quick. Side note- unlike the description says, this place is NOT CASH ONLY. I paid with a card. I'm so excited to come back for more, and feel so lucky to have this spot in Santa Rosa!

The bread was so old and dried out, the sandwiches were inedible. They just crumbled and everything fell apart. I think what angers me the most is not the waste of money, but the carelessness with which the preparer had to have known the bread was too old. Maybe new bread hadn't yet been brought in for the day but no matter the reason, those should not have been sold! Shame on you. Never again and I don't recommend.

We were greeted by the friendly owner (?) and he told us we could take a seat wherever we wanted. There were several people enjoying a late lunch on both sides of the restaurant. I noticed that most of the customers had ordered the pho. We decided to try: - Fresh spring rolls - delicious! Large shrimp, fresh ingredients. Tasty dip. - Garlic noodle plate - noodles were a nice thickness, bouncy and flavored well. Protein was the bbq pork as we were told that's a customer favorite. Veggies were hot and cooked perfectly. - Steak pho - broth was delightful, clean and fresh tasting, with thin slices of tender meat. Noodles were a nice consistency and not mushy. I loved it even more with the bean sprouts, jalapeno, basil and a touch of lime. Everything was timed perfectly, spring rolls came out first for us to enjoy. Server, who I think is the owner, checked on us and refilled my water without having to ask. He promptly cleans up tables after customers leave so the place always looks clean and neat. Overall, a lovely meal. We will be back soon! Located in the Larkfield Center between Cookie... Take a Bite and Exchange Bank. Lots of parking available.

Nah FYI their website listed on yelp (ordergoldenbun.com) is not updated as of 3/3/25. It has the wrong hours (says they close at 5pm on Saturday when they actually close at 7pm Mon-Sat. And says they're closed Sunday when they're actually open). Also their website ordering goes to (https://order.simplemenu.com/store/1724) which is not working. This should be basic business management because you're confusing your customers, requiring them to call to clarify conflicting information, and you're also potentially losing out on online business. (by the way customers should skip online ordering in general, since restaurants often/always add an upcharge to menu prices)
