    Crab Fried Rice
    Janelle L.

Saw this spot recommended by Eater LA so I had to see how it compares. It was authentic Thai food w/ a few modern twists. The servers were mostly friendly. The food came out as it was made. We tried a number of dishes: Pad See You - good wok flavor. We ordered it with pork. There wasn't a lot of meat in it but I did like that the meat was thinly sliced. Crab Fried Rice - once again, good wok flavor. Lots of flakey crab meat and chunky egg pieces. Crunchy Tofu - we all loved the texture variation. The deep fry technique definitely leaves it with a crunchy shell. It was good with or without the sauce it came with. Pork Jerky - everyone enjoyed the marinade. We noshed and picked at this throughout dinner. Yellow Curry - we got it with beef, mild, no spice. It was tasty, the coconut curry was delicious. I was surprised at how much I loved this especially since the gravy was more soupy than gravy like. Puffy Carfish - wasn't sure what this was but saw it on a number or posts and had to try it. It was an interesting texture. I think I read after eating dinner that it was a salad. OOPS we didn't eat the cabbage! The sour apple slaw that comes with it is DELICIOUS! Naked Wings - marinated fried chicken wings w/ sweet chile sauce. Can't go wrong but not super exciting. Lots of parking, especially for dinner. All of the other stores in this strip mall were closed. I'd come back.

Tantawan is my favorite spot for affordable and consistently delicious Thai food in the SGV! My favorite dish is the pad kee mao with chicken. The dish is consistently packed with lots of protein, spice, and savory goodness! The noodles are always perfectly well-coated and cooked in the delicious umami sauce. I also like getting their pad see ew, as it has a nice balance of sweet and savory flavors and lots of vegetables. The BBQ ribs, Chicken satay, and steak salad plates with fried rice are also wonderful dishes.

The food was delicious, ribs were tender, noodles were cooked just right. The service was also great, not overbearing so it was just right. It is a nice location for going for lunch. There was very light music so if you want a quieter place, this is the one. Especially liked the mango ice dessert, it is not too sweet for the rice and just sweet enough for the mango.

We saw this place while picking up at some matcha across the street, so we decided to try it out but first we looked it up on yelp to see the reviews :) we a little over $100 bucks we bought 8 plates of food to go. We loved everything we ate from there it was delicious. The service was good they greeted us right away very polite and friendly. Inside the restaurant it felt humid it was not fresh almost felt like their AC was not working properly. Overall we would go back to try more of their dishes. There is plenty of parking :)

Large sitting area with good lunch specials. Their sticky rice and pork are my niece and nephews FAVORITE, they are always asking for more and can finish their own portion - KIDDO APPROVED.

I haven't been here in a long time while I was on my way home. I passed this place!! I had to go in! The food is high-quality and delicious! I always get pad Thai, but I replace it with glass noodles because it's low-carb! The flavor of the pad Thai is amazing! I'm not sure what seasoning they use, but this is the best pad Thai I have ever eaten! The waitress is very sweet and you're welcoming! The ambience is really cute and the prices are very reasonable! I recommend you on a date here!

This is the 2nd location of Tantawan, with the other being in West Covina. It's hard to believe they're the same restaurant. The decor in this location is lacking and dull. The service is mediocre as I have to remind them we need utensils, water ... etc. the staff doesn't seem to be too excited being here. The food here isn't as good as the other location either. The dishes we got on our past visits all lacked that Thai spice and flavor. It's very one dimensional. I have to go ask for condiments and peppers, only to be given 1 small to-go container of pepper, while I saw another table with 4 glass jars of various condiments. I really like Tantawan, but not this location at all. For me, it's worth the drive to West Covina for better, friendlier and more attentive service and way tastier food.

This is a hidden spot that Thai people in SGV stop by as their regular Thai restaurant in the neighborhood! I've been coming here for years and all the time I've noticed other tables are Thai like me. They just don't post anything like it has become their regular schedule. Well food here is always authentic, maybe just what I get all the time. The taste has never changed! Food comes quick and the service is also attentive!

This place was great especially for Thai food in the SGV area. We got the Atlantic crab fried rice. Southern curry noodle and Tay jew noodle dish. They were all flavorful, good amount of meat and worth the cost. The staff was very attentive and nice and it's nice to have a go to spot for Thai food in the SGV area. The place was very quiet and not too loud and lots of other places nearby for dessert or coffee.

Back here for lunch with the coworkers. Looks like they redid their menus; there's a lot more pictures to look at now! Food was just as good and the wait was not too bad. This time, we ordered: - Chicken Satay Appetizer (with dipping sauce. Chicken was a little dry but flavorful) - Tantawan Fried Rice (tasty) - Drunken Flaming Noodles (yummy with a kick) - Pad See You Noodles (yummy with a bit of sweetness)

Condiments, cleaned up and not messy!

We came by around 6pm, it wasnt busy. I had a great dinner here, food came out pretty fast. Flavors were all there. Owner came up and checked up on us, appreciated the check in. Overall I do highly recommend coming here. All the flavors were just there !

Fish Cake $12.95 - order it!

What We Ordered: -Jerky Jerky $12.95 -Fish Cake $12.95 -BBQ Pork Rice $14.95 -Pad Kee Mao w/Beef $14.95 We're still in the market for the best Thai spot in SGV. I saw that my friend Cindy S. came here and that her Thai mother approved of the food here. I had to try it out for myself. The Pork Jerky Jerky was alright. It was very dry and we wouldn't order it again. The wife ordered the BBQ Pork Rice because she likes Crispy Pork Belly. Stubborn woman that she is. She had to order it. I told her not to deviate from traditional Thai dishes and sure enough she was left disappointed in the end. The Crispy Pork Belly was too crispy. It didn't have the proper texture. Don't order this dish! The Pad Kee Mao was pretty solid. It was much better than the one we had at Thai Paradise in MPK. We would order it again here! We thought that Fish Cake was lovely! The wife and I devoured real quick. This was the clear winner of the meal. Honestly, I would rate the food a 3.5/5. I will round up to 4 as I gave Thai Paradise a 3 and the food here was a little better. I don't think we would be in a rush to come back here, but you wouldn't have to twist our arm to come back either. This place is more of a take-out spot. I wouldn't eat-in again. The service was attentive, but the ambiance and dining room is rather dingy. We're still on the look out for a solid Thai spot in the SGV. If you know of any, please DM me!

this place tastes like authentic thai food i had back in thailand. their pad thai is one of the best i've had in LA -- very flavorful, full of sauce, and with perfectly chewy noodles beef salad was a letdown though. the beef was very chewy and the sauce was too sour chicken skewer was great, with large pieces of chicken and what tasted like a homemade peanut sauce overall a solid spot for thai food. they also had menu items you don't usually see at most thai restaurants. will be back to try thos ~parking: free parking available in lot ~service: friendly service

The Yellow Curry is pure comfort food; the broth is incredibly rich, smooth, and aromatic, with perfectly cooked potatoes and veggies. On top of the great taste, the portion sizes are very generous. You definitely get your money's worth here, with plenty of food to leave you full (and probably take some home). Will definitely be ordering from here again! Highly recommend.

It's flavorful and Ong Choy is nice and crunchy. Definitely a great vegetable selection. Pad Thai: the sauce is way too heavy and sweet. We didn't enjoy this as much as we thought we would. The first taste was good, but the more you have the saltier/sweeter it gets. The lime juice didn't lighten things up either. Don't really recommend it. Crab fried rice: there's a good amount of crab and egg in this dish. The rice is on the softer side, it's not dry and hard like most fried rice. We still enjoy it, the texture of the rice didn't kill the flavor of it. The flavor is very balanced, but quite oily. Tom yum seafood soup: There's a good amount of seafood in this soup. The flavor (sweet and sour) is well balanced. Sweet rice with mango: A great dessert option to finish the meal. It is not overly sweet. I'm not a fan of coconut, but the coconut is not distinctly sweet and overwhelming (so I was able to have some). The sweet rice is chewy and warm when served. And the mango is perfectly ripe and sweet. Definitely recommend it. The service was outstanding! The restaurant decoration is very traditional and unique. They are quite busy when we arrived on a Sunday night. I would give this place an overall 3.5/5 because they can definitely work on some of the dishes.

Their menu has changed a bit over time, but I still recognize the kitchen staff and the food continues to satiate me. On the recent visit I tried their lunch combo. This starts with an entree, and adds a drink, an appetizer, and a soup. There is a premium combo that includes a full size appetizer. I could not finish the regular combo, so there would still be leftovers for an even larger size meal. I love khao Soi and knew I had to order this one. The flavor was similar to other Thai places, though I found it reduced more so that the curry was thicker and really stuck to the noodles. Good noodle portion, lots of chicken meat, pickled veggies, soft-boiled eggs were dry but tasted the same, all around good entree. I asked for a saucy Pad Thai and they delivered, very good indeed. Each of these entrees could have been a meal on their own. The cabbage soup was very savory, likely a chicken stock with some veggies thrown in. Less umami than a miso soup, but very robust flavor. The side salad had a light sesame dressing, not too intense of a flavor and it worked well with the typical house salad ingredients. There were some crispy straws added on top, to differentiate, but it's a good and healthy side option. I'd skip the vegetable egg-roll, it's just an egg-roll. The Green Thai Tea is a main reason we came to Dancing Spoons. It's not normally part of the lunch combo, but we asked about an up charge and they were able to help us out.
