We ordered the tom yum noodle soup and the garlic pork with rice, both of which were priced very reasonably at $10.49 each. The tom yum soup was sour with a slight kick of spice and had a decent amount of toppings. The garlic pork was very flavorful, although there was a lot of fat mixed into the pork pieces. We ordered the Rad Na with beef for $13.99, Crying Tiger for $14.49, Banana Bay Special Pad Thai for $13.59, Pad See Ew with beef for $13.59, and cup of Steamed Rice for $1.99. Came here with a group of about 35 people for a Saturday dinner. For large parties, the latest reservation time available was 5:00 PM, although we had initially hoped for 6:00 PM. We were also asked to submit our food order in advance so the kitchen could prepare accordingly, which was understandable given the size of our group. However, some dishes arrived only lukewarm rather than hot. For example, the tom yum soup wasn't as hot as expected and the burner appeared to have been sitting for a while since the flame went out fairly quickly after it reached our table. The food was generally good and comparable in quality to the Rowland Heights location. One interesting difference is that menu prices at this location seem to be slightly lower. We ordered a variety of dishes family-style among several smaller tables, and overall the food quality was solid. The biggest area for improvement would be service. Food was delivered very quickly, but interactions felt rushed and impersonal. Dishes were often dropped off without much communication and staff immediately moved on. Throughout the meal, our tables were not checked on and water refills were largely overlooked. The restaurant is conveniently located in the same shopping center as TJ Maxx, Daiso, and other businesses. Parking can be challenging during peak hours. First time ever dining at this location of Banana Bay. My wife and I have been to the Rowland Heights location many times over the years. We enjoyed our dinner here on a Friday night. The location much different from the other one. This location uses the Yelp waitlist system. There's no bar or live music like the other one. However, the location is very vibrant and clean. The restaurant is brightly lit and decorated nicely. My main takeaway from the Temple City is most definitely their pricing! The menu prices are much more affordable and a few dollars cheaper compared to Rowland Heights. We certainty LOVED that! The staff here were attentive for the most part the food takes some time and wasn't delivered all at the same time. However, the portions and quality of the food are up to par. My husband and I dined here on a Friday night around 8:30pm. As we were walking towards the restaurant, I noticed their big glass windows, warm lights, and occupied tables with happy faces making it inviting. We joined their waitlist on their tablet near their counter and we were seated within 5 minutes. Just like the other location in Rowland Heights, it's very busy on a Friday night! The restaurant overall is very clean except near the entrance due to high foot traffic. It's decorated with Chinese lanterns, cherry blossom, and bamboo trees placed in the middle of the restaurant. It almost felt like I was dining at a high end restaurant. It's significantly smaller than the other location, but the high ceilings give it a spacious atmosphere. There are plenty tables and booths. Be aware the booths do move easily when you get out of your seat. We were sat in the booth closest to their entrance which I didn't mind at first, but after a while the high foot traffic was distracting (maybe they could place a divider between the waiting area and the booth). Onto the food, pricing, and service: portion is generous and they are more affordable than the Rowland Height's location. I ordered the Bbq Chicken Fried Rice. Chicken was juicy and flavorful. It was easy to take off the bone. The fried rice was light, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I couldn't finish my plate (even though I wanted to) so I boxed the rest to take home. My husband got the Continental Fried Rice. A dish Banana Bay is well-known for. The chicken skin was crispy, the fried egg was yolky in the center, the sausages were soft, and the fried rice was consistent with my plate's. Service was great and the staff was attentive even during their peak hours. I gained a sense of relief when more than one waitress checked in on us periodically. Overall, my husband and I had a great first impression. We're already talking about coming back in the near future. Banana Bay TC has the best Lunch Special in SGV. Where can you go to get an entree for only $9.99 and add a Thai tea and Thai Coffee for only $1.49!!! It's unheard of these days!! The best dishes to order are House Noodle Soup, House Tom Yum, Chicken Pad Thai and Pad Se Ew with beef. The food is very flavorful and comes out hot! The portion is a good size for lunch but you can also share as family style. This location is newer than the original location at Rowland Heights. They have renovated the place so it's a huge restaurant good if you are planning to come in large parties. Parking is a bit of a challenge during lunch hours. So you might be fighting for parking or just be patient and give yourself more time to park. Service was average. Our server was not the most friendliest nor smiled much. They chopped bits of chilies into the Tom Yum soup. I didn't notice it and ate one. It was so spicy that it ruined the whole meal. I was constantly drinking my Thai tea (no milk). Noodles in Pad Se Ew were good and perfectly seasoned with oyster sauce. It was sweet as well as salty flavor. Comforting fried noodle dish. Tom kha soup was served hot in a boiling pot with variety of seafoods like squid, clams, shrimps, fish, and crabs in it. I liked the coconut flavor as well as lemon grass flavor of this soup. Moo Yang First time trying Thai style pork and I'd must say that it was a surprising taste. They came in pork strips style that's marinated and is served with sticky rice & some leaf wraps for that extra flavoring. Not only was lunch full of bursting umami flavors - they included drinks for under $2 if you get the lunch combo. Shock is an understatement but a happy shock, nevertheless. Plating was great with portions that is very well worth the price. You get flavor that feels home cooked and can wash it down with their Thai tea. I opted to get mine with no half and half as a lactose intolerant person, but OH-EM-GEEEE. Next time, I'm ordering extras to take for my trip home! I had good times at Banana Bay back in college at their Rowland Heights location, so I was happy to see they expanded to Temple City. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch during the weekend and it was surprisingly empty. We were seated right away. The interior AT A GLANCE looked really modern and clean. However the illusion shattered the moment they brought us to the booth and the seat was completely ripped up. And not just the one I was sitting on but basically on all of them. It was uncomfortable even with my pants on. If someone was wearing shorts or a dress, it would definitely scratch their skin. My boyfriend had a Beef Pad See Ew ($13.09) and I had their Continential Fried Rice ($13.59) and a Thai Tea ($3.59). No refills on their Thai Tea here until other Thai restaurants.
