We just dined at Senia and we're really looking forward to the experience. We actually found it all very disappointing! The cocktails were overly sweet and the flavors were disjointed. The Kompache crudo was delicious but that was about it. The gnocchi was way off on texture. The grilled cabbage was lifeless. The cheddar and mushroom tartlet was underwhelming. The zucchini tots lacked flavor. I've had the pleasure of dining at Senia multiple times, and every visit has been exceptional. Everything I've tried has been incredibly delicious, with each dish showcasing thoughtful preparation, high-quality ingredients, and refined execution. The standout of every visit has to be the ahi cigars. They are absolutely incredible--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. It's one of those signature bites that lives up to the hype and is something I look forward to every time I return. Another highlight was the Maui Nui venison brioche. The venison was rich and flavorful, while the brioche was so buttery. Together, they created a decadent bite that was both comforting and elegant. I also highly recommend the kampachi crudo and hamachi tataki. Both dishes were exceptionally fresh, clean, and well-balanced, allowing the quality of the fish to shine while complementing it with bright, thoughtful flavors. The service has always been attentive and polished, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between upscale and welcoming. Every meal has felt like an elevated dining experience without being pretentious. Fancy dinner in Chinatown Hawaii for my birthday was at Senia. This place has a modern touch with unique food. Made reservations and the table was set when we arrived. The place is small but very inviting. We started with drinks and they were delicious. Ordered a cheese and mushroom tartlet and that was super good a must order. Also had the smoked ahi cigars that were cute, looked like real cigars. Our server was fun and always checked up on us. I loved the grilled romaine it has a nice touch of flavor. My partner made reservations at Senia yesterday since neither of us had been there in quite a while. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I believe they recently renovated the space, and I absolutely love the new look. It used to have an all-white interior, but now it features warm wood tones and earthy brown accents that create such a cozy, inviting ambiance. The whole restaurant feels much warmer and more intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The cocktail menu has changed as well, and I ordered the Night Shift. As someone who loves a good Old Fashioned, this was probably the best cocktail I've had all year. It had a wonderful smoky flavor balanced by just the right amount of sweetness from the cacao. I'm officially hooked. For appetizers, we shared the ahi cigars and venison tartare on brioche, and both were incredibly delicious. For our mains, we ordered the lamb lasagna and duck breast. My partner wanted to order even more, but I insisted we save room for dessert and tea...and I'm so glad we did. The bread pudding was absolutely phenomenal. Paired with tea, it was the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed everything we ordered and would definitely come back. Senia was actually really good. They offer a tasting menu on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise you can opt for a la carte. We came on a Wednesday (it was the only day that worked for us AND they were offering wines under $65 on Wednesdays!). We came by to celebrate our minimoon, and staff congratulated us with a card and also 2 complimentary glasses of moscato at the end of the night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is rather dark, but we sat at the counter so it was more brightly lit.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was fun watching the staff create these amazing dishes and we were very entertained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got a bottle of pinot noir from Freeman for $65 (a steal!). Then started the night with ahi cigars ($10) which were delightful and came with a savory moringa dip. The cheese and mushroom tarts ($13) were also a hit. I saw several people had ordered the cheshire cheddar dish ($30) online. It's literally a mountain of charred leeks, cheese, maitake mushrooms, and absolutely delicious. For mains, we split the scallops ($44) and gnocchi ($34). We thought we wouldn't be full, but after the side of potato gratin ($14), we were getting quite stuffed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However, I spent the whole night watching the pastry chef hard at work so I knew I had to get a dessert.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided to get the eton mess ($18) which is literally strawberries and cream with fluffy bits of cake. Went there for a double date for their À la carte dinner, not the prix fixe. It's been on my list for a while, and so glad it's one of the nicer meals to kick off the new year. We parked at some garage at Chinatown, only 0.3 miles walk but a lot of spotty people, so probably should ask the restaurant for recommendations. I got in due to a last minute cancellation and I'm so glad I got to try out this restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a hidden gem in the middle of Chinatown.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is amazing and the food came out with perfect timing. My favorite dishes were the ahi smoked cigars and the triple smoked salmon. The ahi was buttery smooth and had a hint of smokiness just like a real cigar. Wow, wow, WOW. Senia was serving wow's all night! My girlfriend and I dined in this past weekend for their tasting menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off, the restaurant itself is so cute, the inside is super trendy and I loved the lighting as it made the whole place feel really romantic and intimate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Keep in mind that the tasting menu is only served at the Chef's counter and has only one seating at 6:30pm- but it's totally worth it because the Chef himself comes to greet you and also helps serve and describe the dishes he worked on! Super engaging and makes the entire dinner feel almost like a mini show. Now onto the food. The tasting menu is absolutely AMAZING. If you have read my reviews before, you know I love restaurants like Mugen, Nature, etc., and when I tell you Senia is up there amongst my favorites- I mean it. Every single bite was DIVINE. Literally had my girlfriend and I saying WOW after every course. Oh and did I mention it is 10 courses?! For the price it is so worth it and the wine pairing was also absolutely amazing. Every sip matched the course so well. My taste buds were dancing. The menu as of 3/28 was: Spicy Tuna Taco - SO DELICIOUS. What an amazing way to start off the menu. Premier White Sturgeon Caviar with a truffle custard - Truffle and caviar? Say less. So light but so tasty. White Guy "Sushi" - This was a play on fish and chips, and was so good. It's almost like a crispy rice with hamachi! Foie Gras - Okay I am not a huge fan of foie gras, but holy crap this was divine. Like the honey, lychee, and cranberry made it taste sweet and was soooo beautiful to look at. Hamachi - Delicious. Seriously, all of the fish was SO fresh. Cappelletti - Okay by this course I was honestly getting so full and this was much more rich than the other courses, but still super yummy. I just wish I wasn't so full so I could have enjoyed it more! Guinea Fowl - What's cool about this course, is the Chef shows it to you before he's cooked it and explains the whole process of how he makes it- also it's a little different everytime! This was sooo good and also came with an amazing jus sauce. I must say I really enjoyed that Senia did something different for it's main course and didn't serve wagyu/lamb/pork etc. It was nice to have a different type of meat that I don't usually get to eat! "Cheese Course" - A cute little cheese tart that was the perfect bite for myself as I am an avid cheese lover. Raspberry Mille-Feuille - So light and sweet- literally the perfect dessert. The Septagon - I absolutely LOVED this. They bring it out in front of you and let you open it up all together to view beautiful truffles! I mean seriously how much more amazing can Senia get? Was shocked that we never knew Senia existed prior to this last trip out to HNL. I can't even count how many times we've dined at The Pig and the Lady. Never have been a huge fan of Chinatown due to the amount of transients in the area but was pleasantly surprised this last visit. It was as if everyone left and moved to Waikiki. Our server was fantastic and recommend a few dishes that were awesome. Started off the meal with the Kaiyo Sutra (their version of an Old Fashioned) which was pretty tasty. First snack that we ordered was the cheese and mushroom tartlets which had an amazing flavor. Next snack was the smoked ahi cigars which again was tasty. Really enjoyed to yuzu kosho aioli dip that was served with the cigars. Next out was the roasted bone marrow which was served with a delicious oxtail marmalade. Everything was seasoned perfectly but wished we had a few more slices of the toasted Hawaiian rolls. The one next dish that we ordered was the chestnut agnolotti which the wife enjoyed but thought it was a tad too sweet for my liking. Also, thought the agnolotti was a tad bit undercooked as there were a few bites where i had a crunch. Fried brussel sprouts were also just ok as I thought there was too much miso dressing which took away from the taste of the brussel sprouts. This was my favorite meal in all of Honolulu -and I love eating! It's near the Chinatown and the food and service were amazing. They had lots of Hawaiian sourced produce and meat ex Maui Nui Venison and Kona Kampachi. There was also delicious chubby scalllops . It felt Michelin one star level and so tasty. We had Senia during our second night of our babymoon and it was one of the highlights of our trip. It's also on the CSR dining list so you can use your dining credit here, which is a nice bonus for an already great meal. We ordered the roasted bone marrow, seared scallops, chestnut agnolotti, and fried Brussel sprouts, and everything tasted wonderful. The scallops were perfectly cooked (we asked it to be thoroughly cooked as my wife was pregnant), the agnolotti was a great balanced dish, and the bone marrow was a nice touch. We celebrated my birthday at Senia in Hawai'i, and overall the experience was amazing. From the food to the service, everything felt thoughtful and elevated. Every dish was well executed -- some stood out more than others -- but we had such a great time and left extremely happy. We started with the smoked ahi cigars, which we knew were very popular going in. While we totally understand the hype, this one was just okay for us compared to what followed. We're still glad we tried it. The truffle chicken was easily one of the highlights of the night. Completely boneless, incredibly tender and juicy, and paired beautifully with the truffle mousse and roasted bone jus. Honestly, life-changing and something I would order again without hesitation. The zucchini with basil, feta, and parsley was simple but perfectly executed. Clean flavors, nothing overdone, and a great balance on the table. The tagliatelle with Kaua'i shrimp was excellent -- the shrimp tasted extremely fresh and the flavors were spot on. Another standout dish for us. We also had the Kona kampachi with dashi, yuzu, and jalapeño, which was bright, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. Definitely something I'd get again. The fish and chips with caviar was a personal favorite and one of the most memorable dishes of the meal. It felt like a reimagined, elevated take on a classic, and I loved the entire experience of eating it. For dessert, we ended with the lilikoi bavarois with compressed fruits and raspberry gel. Light, refreshing, and a great way to finish the meal. Service was outstanding throughout the night. Our server was attentive and made the experience seamless, and a wine sommelier even came by to help my fiancé track down a wine he had once during Christmas and had never been able to find again. My husband and I have dined at Senia twice before and we remember it being amazing! My fave item was the bleu cheese beignets. We came back recently with some friends and sadly they didn't have the beignets anymore. We ended up ordering the Ahi cigars and Parker House Rolls for starters, the Lamb Tagine as the large dish with Brussels sprouts and parsnips as sides, and the roasted bone marrow and cavatelli as shared plates. My fave dish is the tagine. Everything else was good but felt like it was missing that oomph! The service was good. Our servers were friendly and attentive. The place is beautiful as always. I'm not sure why it didn't taste as amazing as last time or maybe they were just off that one night. Senia reservations open 60 days in advance. That requires advance planning! We went to celebrate a special Birthday and planned far in advance. Everything went smoothly! They sent multiple reminders and comprehensive information without being overbearing or annoying in any way. Exactly what was needed; nothing more or less. Comfortable but not indulgent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very open kitchen so one can see exactly what is happening there![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Lots of staff making sure every need is met, again, calmly, politely, in a relaxed manner. There were a number of menu modifications that the server told us about orally. We actually took advantage of many of them, and the new dishes were excellent! The food was inventive, tasty, and plentiful. No one left the slightest bit hungry and there was even a little food left over at the end. Senia is a solid neighborhood fine‑dining spot, but my latest visit was a bit uneven. The gnocchi wasn't impressive--on the mushy side with little texture contrast, and the asparagus accompanying it also came out a bit overcooked and lifeless. On the brighter side, the kampachi was excellent: clean, well‑seasoned, and very memorable. The Parker rolls were tasty and fun, but they felt more like a nice extra than anything essential to the meal. The scallops were just "good": nicely cooked, but nothing that stood out compared to other dishes on the menu. For drinks, the Wild Turkey Beacon cocktail was a highlight--great balance and a great way to start the evening. We started with the cheese & mushroom tarte, a foam creation on a too crisp lavash tart. Beautiful looking but contrast of crispness too stark. Then the ahi cigars, a less crisp but still firm crisp cigar roll of bric over tender ahi with a delicious yuzu aoli. The venison brioche was a clear winner! Delicious marinated venison on a buttery brioche toasted to perfection. The Cheshire cheddar was a delicious delight to all senses, beautifully presented, savory, crunchy, soft and flavorful. The bone marrow was disappointing...the bone marrow was re "imagined" or repositioned into a ceramic bone over carmelized onions. Now this was tasty but not flavorful bone marrow. The toasted brioche slices were so good and oxtail garnish and relish were good too but quite overwhelmed the bone marrow. Next the scallops. Again beautifully presented but inconsistent sear. Three perfectly seared scallops out of 5. The agnolotti was a standout as well for the wonderful tasty treat. The lamb tagine was a disappointment as well. The fruit, apricot, was not stewed and infused in the lamb but placed fresh on top. The couscous tasted of cardboard. So unlike any Moroccan tagines I've ever tasted. The mont blanc dessert should have been passed...dry pieces of chestnut cake scattered on a plate. So contrary to many previous reviews, I must take a pass on this restaurant for both the food and service. read more

One of the best dining experiences in Hawaii. The simply stated menu belies the extreme complexity and intricacies involved with creating the flavors of each dish. Why it's been nominated five times but has never received a James Beard award is beyond me. Tip: skip the degustation menu and opt to order ala carte. Like most Western restaurants, the set menu is designed to give a broad tasting of what the restaurant has to offer. There is no cohesion, no building of flavors, no trying to create a complete culinary experience as in Japanese fine dining. Order and eat what you like. The smoked ahi cigar, a mainstay and always a hit. Packed with finely diced ahi, perfectly seasoned and gently smoked. Yuzu matcha crema and chives round out the offering perfectly. Talk about complexity. Sea Scallops with sunchoke puree features beautifully seared perfectly cooked scallops. The accompanying "sauce", a complex array of ingredients in finished with yuzu kosho, garnished with sea asparagus all worked to bring out the incredible sweetness of the scallop. The sunchoke puree, the ideal neutral foil to ready the palate for the next bite. Maui Nui venison carpaccio is outstanding. Red bell pepper puree for sweetness, mac nuts for texture and earthiness, micro radish for peppery kick, sorrel for floral notes and Indian sub continent spices bring the metallic, gamy flavor of the venison alive. The foie tortelini, little pillows of happiness. Toothsome on the outside, rich on the inside almost creating its own sauce when bitten into. Green onions add a vibrancy and black currants for a burst of tangy acidity. Mushroom chips add texture. Finally a SRF boneless ribeye, a sharable feast. Perfectly cooked mid well finished with a totally unnecessary compound herb butter. Duck fat fried potatoes and creamed spinach and mushrooms accompany. Micro watercress, uber sweet tomatoes and both a chili and horseradish sauce on the side. Stuff the leftovers into some crusty bread the next day, trust, one hell of a sandwich. Amazing! We came in on a Thursday night. We were able to get reservation at the chefs counter. We absolutely loved it. The inside is beautiful and the chefs counter had plenty of space. We ordered almost one of everything except the main dishes. My favorite was the mushrooms starter. It was so delicious. Very airy with a crispy finish. 10/10 The Gnocchi was so flavorful. 10/10 The bone marrow, oh my gosh was it good. The whole presentation of how it's served was beautiful. Came with 3 different salts, sweet bread and a relish. 10/10 The beet and goat cheese pasta, chefs kiss. I could honestly go on and on about the food. But everything we ordered was perfect. Everyone was amazing and they staff provided us a perfect girls night out. I can't wait to go back! ***we parked around the corner. Yes, it's in downtown. My husband booked us dinner here for my birthday and I am still thinking about this meal a few days later. It is not on the main strip, which I actually like. The caviar "fish and chips" was delicious but every plate we had, surprised us. For me, it was the venison. I'm not a big fan of venison but this happened to be one of my favorite dishes as well as the pea agnolotti which had such a unique flavor to it (my husband hates peas but he loved this dish!). We had a wonderful waiter who made the night extra special. His charm, charismatic nature really made the night complete. AMAZING. Everything we had was awesome. Juice was fresh and delicious. For apps we did ahi cigars and mushroom tartlets and venison. All were excellent. For plates, we went with farmers salad, kampachi, bone marrow, scallops, pea agnolotti, lamb lasagne and all were amazing. The scallops was highly anticipated but least innovative. Must get the duck.... It's cooked perfectly. My 11yo ate two orders of the Parker rolls so I think it was good?! The asparagus and cauliflower were good but we got too full by then. What a gem. Had a really nice dinner here the other night! Came here for our anniversary and the staff was SO great, even giving us a card to celebrate the occasion. All of the service staff was so nice and accommodating, and our server did an excellent job of explaining all of the dishes and making recommendations which were all good. I also appreciated how quick he was to accommodate our requests as well. The restaurant itself is also really cute, and is quite unassuming given its location. On the food front, we ordered the Ahi Cigars, Scallops, Kampachi, and Zucchini. The cigars were very unique in terms of presentation and flavor, though a bit too smoky for my liking (really leaned into the cigar theme). The kampachi was delicious and so were the scallops (probably some of the best cooked scallops I've had). The Zucchini was solid as well. Overall, the vibes and the service of the restaurant were excellent, and the food was solid. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something a bit more upscale for a date night! read more

We were excited to try this restaurant located in Chinatown. It's on the chase sapphire table list so you can use your csr dining credit. The ambience was festive with elegant holiday decorations. All the seating had a booth type seating which was comfortable and provided some sense of privacy which was nice. We tried the bone marrow starter with came with Hawaiian rolls and an oxtail stew. The seared scallops were perfectly cooked. Then we finished with two pastas- chestnut agnolotti and ragu tagliatelle. The food itself was done well. Service was attentive. Price is a bit on the higher side. However the main issue for me was the timing of the courses. There was a 30 min gap between the first and second course and another 30 minute gap between the first pasta and the second pasta. It was so slow that we were tired and skipped dessert. read more

I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private dining event last night and I was able to try a lot of different things. Our server was excellent and attentive, refilling waters and drinks without having to be prompted, and she was very pleasant and helpful all night. The ambiance upstairs was very intimate and special, definitely great for a private party, but there was a giant steel ladder toward the middle of the room that stuck out like a sore thumb. Not sure if they accidentally left it there but it looked like a fixed thing. It was a bit of an eyesore. Now the food. From the appetizers, of the mushroom tart, corn fritters, and the smoked salmon cigar, the stand out to me was the cigar for being extremely flavorful. Others in the party loved the fritters the most. I did appreciate the lightness and umami from the mushroom tart. There was also bread with beef tallow that was very good, but way too filling so I only ate one, I knew I had to pace myself. Then came the first course, a shrimp pasta and ravioli, and everyone absolutely loved the ravioli. The fresh salad with raspberry vinaigrette was also very good, with a lot of different items in it, and the veggies were extremely crisp and fresh. Next course was the bone marrow that you put on some bread with oxtail marmalade and different salts, plus a side of salsa for some acid. THAT was the highlight of the entire meal for me. I LOVE bone marrow. Frankly, I forgot what else it came out with.lol Next were 2 pasta courses, one is a ravioli with corn and ikura, which was everyone's favorite. There was also a shrimp pasta that had hints of corn flavors in it too which was nice and light, but the ravioli stood out more. Next course was truffle chicken and smoked salmon. I really enjoyed the chicken which was light and flavorful with the perfect hint of truffle. The salmon was good too, but it came with waffles and maple syrup which was a bit strange to me. This course came with sides of roasted carrots, garlic broccoli, and roasted zucchini with pesto and sprouts. I liked the zucchini enough, but the broccoli and the carrots had a very strong Middle Eastern spice to it with pine nuts that was quite overpowering, so I didn't like those two as much. There were also some potatoes which were well made but a bit plain for my liking. Dessert was pretty good too. We had the chocolate mousse cake which was a bit too rich for my liking, but my daughter enjoyed it. The salted caramel with fruits was way too sweet, which was unfortunate, because I typically love salted caramel but that was way too much. The Peach Melba was the best one. It was light and not overly sweet, and the raspberry sorbet that came with it was the perfect complement. We didn't have alcohol but the lychee shiso spritzer was refreshing and its tartness was a welcome palate cleanser in between all of the extra rich dishes. Overall, it was a really good meal, with some stars, but definitely some dishes we could have done without. We pretty much had to be rolled out of there on a wheelbarrow with how full we were, and we still had a lot of take out. I would suggest eating in a la carte and picking everything yourself, rather than a set meal. Make sure not to miss the bone marrow! read more

I have not really enjoyed dining here in the past. Sitting at a table in the dining room left me feeling like an afterthought and looked down on by non-local servers. I figured out why I had that feeling. The 8 seat Chef's Table on Friday and Saturday is the way to approach Senia. The quenelle of California white sturgeon caviar on a sunchoke custard accented with chive butter was like eating high end kaiseki in Tokyo. Chef Rush's take on fish & chips was a fun play presented as White Guy "Sushi" - Kona kampachi sitting on crisp potato instead of rice, with an English pea tartar, sherry vinegar, and black lava salt. Little truffle ricotta stuffed hats of cappelletti with truffle butter and parmesan foam were just three delicate bites that left me longing for more. I was very satisfied by the time the final seven-sided wood polygon was unfolded to reveal six chocolate truffles. We were given the option of having them boxed to take home, but I just let myself have a final enjoyable indulgence. From my vantage point I got to watch Chef Anthony Rush touching and approving each dish in each course serve to us lucky eight. The timing and expediting of the rest of the room revolved around our courses. Every single server who worked the restaurant divided their attention between the tables and being present to assist Chef with service. I could literally watch the ordering and expediting for the rest of the restaurant timed so Chef and anyone assisting him had space to set up and plate our courses. This is the kind of meal I will willing pay good money for - excellent plating, well coordinated service, and friendly insights from Chef Rush. The only lows were the presentation of wine pairings. When Chef Rush bought us a dish I could not clearly hear him explain what he was presenting because the wine server was talking too long and too loud. There were occasions when Chef Rush was literally waiting on the wine service with plates in both hands - waiting for the wine server to finish talking and get out of the way. This was on par with good meals I have had in other cities. You're in good hand when you have the attention of the chef. read more

Tried Senia while in Honolulu -- overall, the experience was fine but not particularly memorable. The food was decent, though most dishes didn't really stand out. The one exception was the ahi cigars appetizer -- that was genuinely delicious and the highlight of the meal. We were finally able to get a reservation at Senia, and it was absolutely worth it! The restaurant offers two styles of dining -- a prix fixe menu at the counter, where you can watch the chefs in action, and an à la carte menu in the main dining room, which we chose. Located in Chinatown, parking can be tricky -- there are a few street spots nearby and some paid lots within walking distance. Once inside, the ambiance completely makes up for it. The décor is modern yet warm, creating a cozy, romantic atmosphere that's also perfect for small groups. The service was exceptional. Multiple staff members brought out our dishes, each one thoughtfully explaining the ingredients and preparation. Our main server was friendly, energetic, and clearly passionate about the menu, which made the experience even more enjoyable. As for the food -- truly outstanding. The scallops were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, and the butternut squash agnolotti was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. The duo parsnips dish was beautifully presented and flavorful, though a bit rich toward the end. The smoked ahi cigars were another standout -- creative, crispy, and packed with smoky flavor. We recently had dinner at Senia in Honolulu and tried quite a few dishes from the menu. To start, the Kampachi crudo was excellent and one of the highlights of the night. The roasted bone marrow with toast was also very good and rich in flavor. The Maui Nui venison brioche was another standout and we really enjoyed it. The potato and apple gratin was also well done. Some dishes were just okay. The smoked ahi cigar and hamachi tataki were both fine but not particularly memorable. The hamachi in particular finished with a slightly fishy aftertaste. A couple items missed the mark for us. The blackened cauliflower was just so-so, and the grilled asparagus had a sauce that felt a bit heavy and didn't add much to the dish. The biggest issue was the Hudson Valley duck breast. The texture was unusual, soft but also chewy, and very difficult to cut with a knife. The flavor was extremely dry and had a strong liver-like taste that our group did not enjoy. No one at the table was able to eat it. When we mentioned it, the restaurant still charged us 50% for the dish. Unfortunately the experience with the duck left a bad taste at the end of the meal. While some dishes were very good, that final course made the overall experience disappointing and it's probably not a place we would return to. read more

WORST SERVICE EVER - ruined my night. I had a confirmed reservation at Senia via OpenTable with my credit card on file, but the hostess flat-out insisted I didn't have one--even after I showed my confirmation. She was firm and dismissive until I pulled up proof in my OpenTable app showing a $700+ bill already attached to my name before I had even ordered. I was terrified--how could I trust that I wouldn't be charged when they were so insistent I didn't even have a reservation? Then another waiter admitted the truth: another table had impersonated me by pointing at my name to claim my reservation, because they didn't have one themselves. Instead of apologizing, the hostess yelled at me when I confronted them. She excused it by saying "they don't speak good English" (they were from London!). No apology, no accountability, no compensation. Finally, she turned passive-aggressive and told me I could either "leave or dine with us." I left. This was disorganized, unprofessional, and insulting from start to finish. For a restaurant claiming to be fine dining, it was a complete disgrace. read more

Amazing! Visited here years ago but had no idea "The Game has been Upped! " Wow, is an under statement! The store front is less than notable. The menu, on line, admittedly didn't excite me. I was a single diner and it didn't appear conducive for one; I was wrong. There are many great offerings to make one or many happy. The Ahi Cigars are pure genius. My dinner of Scallops with Prosciutto and Asparagus with a generous dollop of Bearnaise, unctuous. Although my repast left me without appetite for a sweet finish, I instead enjoyed some pure Mamaki hot tea. I cannot tell you how exquisite the service was, every aspect. This is one of a very few International-Class dining experiences here in Oahu. read more

Just a quick update since I came here with a friend a month or so ago and had a few dishes that I haven't had before... One was the Maui Venison Tartare and the other was the Duck Liver Parfait...loved both of them. For the large plate we got the Duck Confit, loved this one, too. The Venison had indian curry flavors along with pickled mango and some chopped roasted macadamia nuts, very tasty. The Duck Liver was super smooth and came on a cigar of grilled bread and topped with some sweet blackberry reduction...also super tasty. The Duck Confit was a half duck, foie gras, and a plum and sumac chutney...wonderful. Along with these we ordered some of my go-tos like the Roasted Bone Marrow and Ahi Cigars and the my favorite cocktail the Freddie. Still my favorite restaurant on the island and hopefully one day will get to try the tasting menu on the counter. read more

My group was real excited to come here and while I think the food was good, it fell a little flat from our expectations. We had a reservation for a Thursday night so we were seated quickly but there also didn't seem to be a wait. We ordered the falafel fries, duck liver parfait, farmers market salad, sea scallops, gnocchi, wagyu short rib, and crushed fingerling potatoes. Our favorites ended up being the duck liver parfait and the scallops. The gnocchi seemed a bit overcooked and broke apart easily with our fork, the farmers market salad was just standard, and the wagyu short rib was probably not worth the price point. We did have a good time though. The interior is dim and food came out dish after dish so our group had a chance to catch up with each other. I think this would be a cute place to do date night! read more
