I am NOT impressed with the level of customer service and have NOT had a good customer experience with this company. I have an older Roland digital piano that I use for gigs. Recently, I needed a small part of the case that had broken off due to plastic fatigue. I contacted Roland customer service and they told me to contact an authorized service center in my area. I decided on Tap Electronics and was communicating with Sal. He asked for the serial number and part description which I provided. He said I would need to bring the board into the shop. I felt I didn't need to do that as it was just a plastic part of the case that screws onto it. I expressed my annoyance and Sal stopped communicating with me. I contacted ANOTHER service center and they are fantastic! They sent me an exploded diagram of the board to confirm the part I need. I texted them back right away confirming. They are reaching out to Roland in Japan to find part availability and pricing. I don't know what the hell is wrong with Sal. read more

I called number back to a hostile guy and asked who he was said his name was Sal so I hung up. Not getting my business after this unprofessional response. Some years ago I sent to Tap electronics a sony cd recorder. After paying them I found out that the problem was still there.It was about 7 yrs ago.It was very frustrating because at that time they weren`t making new cd recorders.This time I had a much different experience I had bought a new Tascam cd recorder about 5yrs ago and it worked perfectly.I srarted having issues with disc errors and I had to send it to Sal at Tap electronics.He told me that they were pretty backed up for repairs and they might need it for a while. He also said that he had the exact same reconditioned model that he would be willing to send to me.He would also include a pair of Tascam headphones. Really disappointed at customer service at this place. People who work there show absolute apathy towards their customers. They say things they gonna do and they don't, they say they will give you a call back and they don't. I gave them a Roland 808 drum machine and have been told it can be repaired but it wasn't, then that spare parts has been ordered and they haven't. Nor I have been notified about the time frame it's gonna take to do the job. At the end charged $45. I would recommend to choose a different place for repairs. read more

Brought in my Arturia Keylab 88 mkII last week became a key stopped working. I got an RMA number from Arturia and dropped of the instrument on Thursday. I got a call on Tuesday that my keyboard was ready and I could pick it up. WhenI got to the shop, the keyboard was at the door waiting for me and I was on my way in just a few minutes. Unbelievable. If you own any home electronics that needs to be worked on, call first. Make sure this shop works on your device. Saul will tell you right away if TAP can do the job. Once they commit, the device will be working when you get it back. My TEAC PD-D1260 5 CD changer needed a lot of work. First, I bumped the drawer with my arm. I took it home after paying for the repair. Then, after 5 songs, the CD would not read and just quit. I took it back with a video on a USB of the failure. Since this device is from 1997, no new parts are available. After working on the main board for quite some time, I got the call to pick it up. In the meantime, I purchased a nice Onkyo 6 CD changer during a fire sale on Amazon. So I put the Onkyo in another room and hooked up the TEAC in the "retro game room." The TEAC played straight through 5 hours of CD's without stopping once! Here's the kicker: I was not even charged for the second repair, which was much tougher to get through than an easy drawer alignment! TAP Electronics is the only authorized TEAC repair center in North America. Do not take your TEAC anywhere else. read more

This place is amazing! I have a receiver that I really like but it was having an intermittent problem. Intermittent problems can be difficult to find and repair. The service manager Sal explained my unit had a sort of Black Box that holds information they could use the determine the issue. It appears that is exactly what happened. In my unit a logic card needed to be re-seated. They also performed full diagnostics and upgraded firmware. This unit has never worked as solid as it does now. These nice folks didn't charge me for stuff I didn't need. In my opinion that's becoming rare. That's what makes it even more valuable. It was good old fashioned great work. The receiver costs about $1,500 new so I didn't want to abandon it. Thanks to TAP ELECTRONICS I was able to get my unit back at an amazing price. I waited a couple months to write this review since my problem was intermittent. I am now confident that TAP ELECTRONICS deserves 5 Stars PLUS Thank you TAP!! read more

Brought in my Teac X-7R because of a tape dragging problem. I was told by Sal that a complete Teac service will fix the problem. 7 weeks a over 700 dollars later, I get my tape deck home and it still drags. They tell me it is the tape. I buy brand new tape, and it still drags. I take it back, they have it 3 weeks only to tell me they are "done working on it and can't figure it out, so it must be my tape". Communication is horrible. They don't answer the phone or return messages. They respond to 1 out of 4 emails. Avoid this place like plague! read more

I have a very expensive Denon AVR reciever it went black one night after some very hard rains. Where do you take your baby and not get taken. I did some checking this had the best reviews for what I wanted. I would give this place 6 stars the shop was over whelmed with work. They let me know once the could get to it. I approved the work it was done perfectly test and I'm in love again. So why the 6 th star??I plugged everything in all 14 speakers the volume would not go up very loud and it would just shut down the whole system. I thought it was them so i took it back they showed me it was perfect and then explained that I blew up more and showed me how to find my blown speakers. Tap Electronics repaired my Yamaha Disclavier Power unit in March 2023 and it was insatlled by our Yamaha dealer service department without a problem. Before this repair, I tried numerous times unsuccessfully to have the Disclavier unit repaired and after 4 years finally found Tap Electronics. I took my tascam dp02 to get repaired , they called the next day to give me an estimate and to get the okay to proceed with repairs, they gave me a nice affordable price, I said okay, and about a few days later they emailed , and text me that it was ready for pick up. Let me tell y'all a story. The headphone jack on a little Tascam I had broke so I took it to Trew Audio in Burbank and they said it was too cheap to fix. Then I took it to Solutions in Hollywood and they said it was going to cost $270 to fix AFTER I paid a $25 inspection fee. And I thought that ain't right it's just the headphone jack that don't work. That's when I finally decided to drive down to Tap Electronics, which is what I was tryin' to avoid doin' by takin' it to all those other places. And it was far, but I listened to a podcast along the way which made it better. BUT my phone don't have a headphone jack so I couldn't play the podcast through my car speakers thus showin' you the importance of havin' a headphone jack. I had the volume all the way turned up and I could barely hear it what with all my engine noise and road sounds. So finally I take it there and Tap calls to tell me they could fix it in 2 days for $73. And after Solutions offered me a $270 solution I thought this was the best deal ever so I took it immediately. Solutions later called me twice tellin' me the $270 price point was a mistake but each time they called me it was still going to be more than $100 so I guess what I am sayin' is Solutions was not my solution. I went to Tap and it was worth the drive. Now my Tascam is all fixed up and ready to go back to doin' what it does best: Capturing celebrities talkin' about their wrongdoins. Have an TASCAM 302 that needed some mechanical repair to function properly (would have fixed it myself, but this device is obsolete and parts are hard to come by). Contacted a shop in Phoenix, AZ that worked on another TASCAM product for me, but could not work on this dual cassette deck. They told me about TAP Electronics. I contacted TAP to submit my deck for repair. After about 3 months, I received my 302 back in it's fully functional state. Impressed with the work and the shipping department went well above and beyond to insure the deck would arrive safely.. NOTE: they are probably not the fastest nor the cheapest, but the best quality. Tap electronics was the only place I could ship to, to get my product's repaired at, I was successful in obtaining shipment to them. It took forever for them to repair it, then they shipped my equipment to the wrong address, I live in Indiana, these dam dummies sent it to some made up address in California, I was lucky enough that the people at the address call and told me they had my expensive equipment, I work hard for everything I have earned and achieved. Why would someone try and take my equipment. They are just lousy,. I have other equipment, made by tascam, that needs to be repaired, but im afraid to send it because of what happened the last time I sent my equipment to be repair. They are lazy ,don't take pride in anything they do and have a I don't care attitude getting your personal equipment, back to the original owner, my feeling's because of their employee's they need to make equipment that should be repaired by more companies than theirs, they are pitaful read more

I've had Tascam equipment in my studio for over 30 years. I always went to Tascam in Montebello to have repairs. This year I discovered that Tascam no longer repairs older equipment and TAP Electronics was named as their suggested alternative. I brought 2 units to TAP Eectronics to have repaired. The first was a DA78HR which was malfunctioning because it wouldn't track to time code. Sal gave me an estimate of $456.37 to fix the problem. I thought that was very high and told Sal I I've never paid so much for a minor repair. He used superlatives like "Ninja Masters" to describe the technicians who carry out the repairs. I reluctantly authorized the repair. The second unit was a DA88 which had a tape cartridge stuck inside the machine that would not eject. I told Sal that the tape was important because it was from a recording session I produced and it had several tracks from a vocal session I had paid for. It was a union session that cost over $2000 to record and I told Sal from the beginning that the recording was more valuable to me than the unit. After a couple of weeks, I received an estimate for repair of $870.00! I immediately called Sal and told him not to repair the unit but to just please save me the tape cartridge, a BASF Hi-8mm tape. He said it would just be $45 to get the tape out of the machine. About a week later, I got an email from Sal with an attached MP4, showing a Hi-8mm TDK cartridge, claiming this was the tape stuck in my machine. This was not my tape and we argued about it. He even professed to recognize my writing in the label as if he knew what my handwriting even looked like. The label showed a 48k format and I told Sal I would NEVER format in 48k and every tape in my studio is formatted in 44.1k. This was NOT my tape. Sal said he would ask his technicians to keep looking for the tape. They lost my tape. I called a few days later and asked if I could speak directly to their technician. Sal asked me "do you speak Korean?" I said no. He said "then you won't be able to talk to the technicians here because none of them speak English". Last Friday I picked up both machines. I'm not sure if the $456.37 I paid resulted in any actual repair. I will have to see if the unit they supposedly repaired even works. I will never use this company again and I will be informing Tascam that they should recommend another company to repair Tascam equipment. read more

I have an old Yamaha RX-1100 that I love that just quit working one day. My local stereo repair shop said they couldn't fix it and I should just buy a new receiver. So i bought a new Yamaha receiver but I did not like the sound at all. I loved the sound of my old Yamaha so I searched out for someone who might be able to fix my old receiver. I found Tap online and called them about the RX-1100 and they said to send it in and they would see what would be needed to repair it. I was so happy when they told me it could be fixed and they would have it back to me in a few days. When I hooked it up I was amazed at how good it sounded, especially compared to the new Yamaha receiver I had just bought. I've used TAP for a long time for my Roland products - keyboards and amps. Usually without issues. Well sadly, things have changed. Recently took in equipment and brought home to find the issues were only partially fixed. One amp is in for the third time for the same issue, under an extended warranty now, and they want to charge me near $100.00 for labor. No thanks. You just lost a long time customer. Update: They called me and said the amp was fixed. After a good conversation, I went and picked it up. They did not charge me for this (it was an extended warranty) but I'm still not sure if their services will be used in the future. read more

I have my Tascam units in the shop for 3 months now. I call and ask where in the cue I am. The response for 3 months in a row has been: "Ill check with the technician and call you back". I have never gotten a call. Today when I ask when it might be looked at I am told that they "have tape recorders they have been working on for years and there is no way I can get a time estimate." I replied that my unit was a computer not a tape recorder and should not be that hard to diagnose. As far as i can tell my units are just sitting on a shelf. The guy I talked to said he would be glad to send my units back as long as I paid for it... again... Also not very nice or concerned at all. If you need you units fixed you might want a more caring and reputable company. I would not be surprised if they don't call for another 3 months and then say there's nothing they can do. Most reputable shops will perform some sort of evaluation even if they take longer to repair, the customer should not have to wait that long and certainly the business should not be rude and uncaring when dealing with customers. This place is a last resort. I would recommend another more professional shop with a better attitude towards its customers and enough staff to do what they promise.They seem to be overwhelmed and unable to meet customer expectations. I assume this review will cost me hundreds of dollars and I wont get anything fixed. read more

Not a fan of leaving bad reviews, but I brought in an old four-track recorder after speaking with the guy over the phone and exchanging a couple of emails, which said, "Non-Warranty For repairs not covered under warranty, our rates are as follows: Labor : $80 for the first hour, $40 for every hour..." He wanted me to leave the unit on a table outside and go while it's outside. Okay, corona virus. Fair enough. He is responsive, which is appreciated. What wasn't was that his estimate included labor rates that were more than double according to his emails. $165/$85. I passed because I no longer trusted doing business with him. When I picked it up it was just sitting on the same table unattended outside in the parking lot. And he made it clear that I had to pay the $40 for his diagnosis, which he did want to tell what was wrong, and not discussed prior. Still no problem paying but wish he said something about his rate doubling or that he was charging a diagnosis fee. Ironically, I found the "expensive guy" in Los Angeles with a quote for less than half of what this wanted to charge. So it goes. read more

I'll start by saying that I'm very pleased with TaP Electronics... My 13 year old Esoteric XO3-SE was having problems reading SACD's - it also starting having a problem with the tray opening and closing. Living in New York, I wasn't anxious to send my player cross country but Tap in Cali is the only Esoteric repair center in the US. SO, I reached out to TAP and was introduced to Sal. Sal had a pretty good idea what was causing my malfunctions and reassured me that they'd be able to do the repair. I have to also convey that Sal gets it...meaning he understands our love for our gear and hobby. So, Off to Cali it went. After a short wait, my player came back in Tip Top condition !! It has been performing flawlessly for a couple of weeks now and feels like a new player. I just wanted to thank Sal and all the engineers for doing an excellent job repairing my player. THANK YOU !! I was super pleased with the service I received from Tap Electronics. About two weeks ago our neighborhood experienced a power outage. After the power came back on, all of our various entertainment devices came back on except for our Yamaha RX-V373 Receiver. We use this device to control the various television devices (cable TV, DVR, AppleTV). I looked up Yamaha service providers on Yelp and saw that Tap Electronics was highly rated, so that was where I took our Receiver. They fixed the Receiver in what I thought was a very timely manner and charged us a very reasonable repair charge. They fixed the Receiver and upgraded the firmware. After checking my options as Yamaha Authorized Service Dealers I checked yelp for the best reviews and drove 30 miles away to give my Yamaha RX-V3900 Receiver for repair to TAP Electronics. They told me they are backed up but they will send me an estimate in a week by email. After a month I called them and they said no update yet and they will call me. After 6 weeks of no news I called and said if they didn't touch it yet I will come and pick up my receiver. They were polite and professional so I got a dry "Sure come and pick it up, sorry" I drove another 30 miles and picked up my unopened receiver back. I understand busy but 6 weeks on shelf unattended is very opposite what I red on all these reviews. read more
