I'm writing this review out of deep concern and outrage. I wish I had read the prior reviews before visiting, because what I witnessed was both inhumane and unacceptable. The conditions of the animals appear to violate even basic standards of care and welfare. A turkey confined to a cage far too small to move freely. A llama restricted to what can only be described as a cramped 10x10 enclosure. Ponies visibly overworked in the intense valley heat, forced to give ride after ride. These are not minor oversights, they reflect a serious lack of judgment and responsibility on the part of ownership and management. I love small businesses and truly believe in keeping community traditions alive but what I saw today was honestly disturbing To the owners: this is not a matter of "customer dissatisfaction." This is a matter of animal welfare and public ethics. I strongly urge you to address these issues immediately. Formal complaints are being made to animal welfare channels and media outlets. ANIMAL ABUSE!! They keep a poor sad turkey in the smallest, I mean SMALL little cage! The poor animal is always so anxious & seems incredibly sad. As always, it was a lovely experience picking out pumpkins, but it should be noted that there is some contradicting information in that yelp says they allow dogs, however, during the busy season such as Halloween and Christmas, they do not allow dogs unless they are in a shopping cart or being held. The no dogs signs are rather small and not overly stated or noticeable when you walk in the entrance. We were still allowed in with our dog and had a great day, but others might find this to be helpful information before taking big dogs with them to the pumpkin patch as the carts are hard to push through the dirt, especially with 60 pounds of animal in it. Had a wonderful time at Tapia Bros Farm looking at the Christmas trees, seeing the gorgeous wreaths and picking out some mistletoe. This is a very fun and festive environment with incredible service and lots of beautiful trees to choose from. The team was very welcoming and helped to keep everyone in the Christmas spirit!! Came here for the second time, produce is always pretty decent. However there's some terrible customer service . They want you to take your time with the farm but if you are gunna shop for even one more item then don't go to the counter. They will push you aside and rush you. I understand that there are people waiting but there was more than enough produce in my basket for him to bag. Small animal cages can be a bit depressing when they have so much room on the farm as well. They need to slow down and really think about the bigger picture. read more

I love this place. It's a gem in the middle of our bustling city, and the blonde lady who works at the stand is so kind. They have a small selection of produce, and they have some animals (chickens, goats, sheep, and a turkey). They do a fun pumpkin patch every year with a petting zoo. I have grand visions for this place. If they offered a little more produce, maybe some homemade jams, and threw in a few more barn animals, we could have our very own miniature Underwood Farms in Encino. This place could honestly go from cute to incredible with a few tweaks. Tapia Bros is conveniently located off the 101 Freeway and a good spot to check out if you are needing to get your pumpkin patch fix. The size of the farm is relatively small, but they do have a fantastic selection of pumpkins available for a decent price. Your admission ticket also go towards the cost of pumpkins which is nice. We purchased tickets to the petting zoo where you are given a little cup of food to feed the goats, pigs, and rabbits . The petting zoo was like the wild wild west. There were SO many kids in there it was hard to move around between all of the people and the animals. It was pretty small and I think they should have limited the amount of people entering. They also had a llama in the petting Zoo area that was in it's own separate pen. I saw some pre-teen aged girls trying to open the gate on their own, so it didn't seem that secure. Llamas are not friendly and it was a little too close for comfort. The animals were cute, but I don't think I would return to the petting zoo area. They did have other animals around the property that you could view without paying extra. The goats on the side of the farm could easily poke their head through the enclosure. I saw a kid wrap its arms around the goat's neck, giving it a hug completely unsupervised by parents or staff. I thought it was a little strange. They also have a turkey and some chickens in little enclosures on the farm available for viewing. There are structures kids can climb on or into like a wagon, giant pumpkin, giant shoe, paddle boats and bundles of hay. I found everything to be so dirty and unsafe. The wagon had paint chipping and looked like splinter central. Paddle boats were covered in dirt. I realize farms are not the cleanest places ever, but the way the boats were covered in thick layers of dirt...you think they could wipe/spray them down at least. There are some photo ops, but it's definitely not the picturesque farm you might envision, so don't go with grand expectations. It's on the kitschy side. Wear closed toed shoes for sure! Overall, I don't think I would return because I didn't fully trust that the staff was monitoring the petting zoo and the play "structures" didn't seem clean or sturdy. There is a market for produce you can buy on the way out. They also do christmas trees here around holiday time. Parking wasn't that difficult and they had someone in the lot directing traffic. read more

We also love stopping to visit the goats and chickens -- it's always a highlight. You can't beat their annual Halloween pumpkins and events, or the Christmas trees and décor. So I came to Tapia Bros to buy fruit. I figured it was a farm and the fruit should be fresh and taste better. It should be cheaper than a grocery store. I saw boxes from other farms and got the feeling that none of this wasn't grown here. What I got was fruit that mid at best. The strawberries were bad in a week and most of the stone fruit just wasn't good. The pricing was farmers market pricing. It wasn't packaged for buying single fruits, but baskets. It's a cute place and I guess if I went when all the bells and whistles were open, it would have been a better experience. read more

I wouldn't necessarily consider myself an "animal lover," but what I saw truly broke my heart. These animals deserve proper care, adequate food, and humane living conditions. I'm writing this review and have already called PETA to bring attention to the concerning conditions I witnessed during my visit with my family on Sunday, October 26. While most visitors were focused on the pumpkins and festivities, I couldn't help but notice the distressing state of the animals on site. Two donkeys appeared underfed and unhealthy -- one stood motionless facing the wall and looked as though she might be pregnant, while both had noticeable leg twitching. There was also a turkey confined to a small space, and a rooster and chicken kept in separate cages but seen biting at each other through the fencing, seemingly competing for limited food. The only animals that appeared in relatively good condition were the piglets, likely because they are still young and have not yet endured prolonged neglect. Please take this concern seriously. Stick to only pumpkins and corn mazes if the animals can't get proper care. read more

I'm sure the vibes and energy might be different on the weekends but during the weekday it was practically dead (and should have been for free)... the animals looked so sad, and to be honest, seeing the animals in the conditions that they were in should have been reported. The owners are incredibly rude and dismissive. I told them I couldn't find parking, and instead of helping or offering any guidance, they told me to "find a different farm." Completely uncalled for. On top of that, the place looked unsanitary I saw cockroaches and even mice around the parking area. It was just a bad scene overall. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The hubby and I went there to visit a pumpkin patch and to visit the petting zoo as the hubby and I both love little cute animals. Well the pumpkin patch and the petting zoo both were a little smaller than I was expecting which was a disappointment. I didn't know what to expect but I was expecting something a little bit better than what I saw. Also, there really wasn't any food to talk about. They had hot dogs and chips but no fair food like funnel cake or anything like that at all. I was kind of disappointed as I wanted some! Lol BUT all the people that worked there were really friendly and nice except for the girl working the petting zoo but it might've been that she was by herself. Now the saving grace was their corn maze! It was epic and so much fun!! I mean seriously, I could've gotten lost in their except I was with my hubby. Lol I had a blast at the corn maze. Our family came here for our first pumpkin patch trip. It was such a wonderful experience. It's not super big, so there isn't a ton to do, but it's enough for a 3-hour wake window with an infant! Admission was only $3 and kids under 2 are free - very family friendly! Bonus - each admission voucher gives you $2 off a pumpkin, so we only paid $1 for a $5 pumpkin. That was a sweet surprise because we thought the pumpkins would be $30 each. There's a small photo opp area at the beginning. To be honest, after seeing pictures from other patches, I can see that the patch here was not as full as others are, but comparison is the thief of joy. There are plenty of adorable animals to look at, pet, and feed. There's also a circle of ponies for kids to ride around - so sweet! They had adorable baby pigs and baby goats and a small horse. I'm really glad we came here. It's close to the city, so you don't have to drive far to find a patch and the prices are very fair. It was very busy, and for good reason! I recommend coming here if you just want a quick trip to a pumpkin patch! Thank you, Tapia Bros! We'll be sure to make this an annual family tradition. Pumpkin patches should be about picking pumpkins and doing activities like corn mazes and children's play areas. NOT keeping animals in a small condensed cage and over feeding them. That's abuse. The chickens and peacocks were kept in a small cage that they could barely move around in. The goats were being overfed and not loved at all. I also saw this turkey that apparently has been kept in a cage for 12 YEARS! As far as pumpkins, yes they have amazing pumpkins. But I will not be going here again and supporting this business due to the fact they treat animals like that. I walked away with plums, beets, apples, oranges, cucumbers, lemons, ginger, avocado, and one grapefruit and one mango (pictured) for 33 bucks! In addition to produce, they offer hayrides, a pumpkin patch, petting zoo, and corn maze! They were also selling gorgeous bunches of sunflowers. Animals are in rough shape there - not properly taken care of. A lonely Baby piglet in the petting zoo with a rabbit and no other pigs -- and away from its mother long before it should have been. Its legs were shaking uncontrollably and it was desperate to be near another animal and the rabbit in the cage with it was NOT having it. So sad. Donkeys legs covered in HUNDREDS of flies cowering in a corner miserable. Three goats were sneezing in the petting zoo area and clearly had respiratory infections. They were mixed with other goats so there is no way the rest of them won't be sick in a hot minute. Exhausted mini horses for the kids to ride on that are weak in the legs and not properly hydrated. It was heartbreaking actually. I have horses of my own and know how farm animals should be taken care of. THIS IS NOT IT. The place also has NO organic selection of veggies or fruits and is very overpriced for what it has to offer. Snacks are cheap, gross, not healthy Hot Dogs and Sodas -- nothing you would expect from a "farm" like fresh lemonade or iced tea or any kind of FRESH, good, wholesome food. I was pretty grossed out by the place to be honest and I've called Animal Control and the Humane Society. They should be ashamed of themselves. And for people who enjoy animals while also ACTUALLY CARING ABOUT THEM, stay away - you will be very upset. It currently costs $2 per person to come in but the entry can be applied towards the purchase of a pumpkin or fall decor. We have gone during the weekday and weekend and I must say that this place is so chaotic on the weekend. I'll never make that same mistake again! The lines for the ponies were incredibly long, too. We ended up leaving quite quickly that day. Try to shoot for a weekday (the earlier the better) if possible. There's a good variety of backdrops to get fun pumpkin patch photos. The corn maze is open this year and it makes for some awesome photos. The price is pretty decent considering there's other places charging $20 per person. We took our 2 year old and she had a blast walking through the whole thing. We visited it on weekday and it was pretty empty. It looked like it was closed, but you actually have to go park across the street and buy your ticket there. Then, you'd take the crosswalk up to the entrance of the corn maze. They give you a map with a series of strange COVID-19 related questions, but we didn't use it. We just took our time walking around until leaving about an hour later. Finally got a chance to stop by at Tapia Bros farm stand today. I have passed by it many times over the years but never at the right moment. I got few baskets of their farm grown tomatoes which were very sweet and tasty. They carry variety of fruits and vegetables but I wasn't too impressed with the selection. Maybe it's different every time based on seasonal availability. Will give them a try again in the future. I love shopping at farmers markets and from direct farms. Oh ya and the nice employee picked a sweet and delicious watermelon for me. I can never pick a good one. read more

My cousin became severely ill after consuming produce from this location and required hospitalization for several days. The overall environment is unsanitary and concerning for public health. Stopped off here as the Christmas tree hunting continues. Being picky and wanting a certain type of tree, you go on a mission and hunt it down. Same as the last lot, they didn't have what I was looking for. But still a good selection of other trees on hand. With this tree lot, it's also a stand all year serving up fresh fruit and produce year round. As well as a pumpkin patch during Halloween fall season. Will NEVER be going back here. I don't even know where to begin with the treatment of the animals here. The goats and sheep are unkempt and matted and are in a soggy pen with old, rusted, metal machinery. The poor solitary turkey is kept in a dirty pen that is no bigger than the size of a kiddy pool, and has allegedly been in there for 12 YEARS. The chickens and pheasant are in filthy makeshift coops that barely have enough room for them to turn around in. And they have pony rides going on, non stop in this LA heat. Forcing the ponies to wear heavy saddles, bridles, etc as well as children on their backs while walking for hours on end. Pony rides in general need to be a thing of the past. It's the cruel cherry on top of what I saw going on here today. Please don't come here if you have an ounce of respect for animals. We talked to the manager. She didn't seem to care and defended the farm. I left empty handed as I'll be damned to give them another cent. Last time I came, there wasn't an animal in sight, just pumpkins and the corn maze, so I thought it would be the same this time around. Learned my lesson. I'll be notifying PETA and spreading the word so hopefully Tapia Bros will learn theirs. read more
