I have been shopping at this location every few months since the day they opened but somehow I never wrote a review. As soon as I checked in today I realized that. Wow ... The produce and fruit prices here is unbeatable. They always have variety of things on sale specially their top sellers. Let's say cucumbers cost over $2.50 a pound in other markets and here it's almost always 99c a pound. Today I was surprised to see a 10 lbs bag of potatoes for $1.29 now that's crazy. Even though I don't buy non organic potatoes it's a great price for people that do. Apples 79c peaches 1.29 a pound which I stocked up on to freeze once they are ripe. I got bags of cherries for $1.29 a pound. Sweet and juicy cherries. I especially love the bulk section of dried fruits and nuts here. I always buy the dried fruits that are imported from Armenia such as sour plum, peach, apricots, pears and more. Love it They carry a wide selection of imported rice, legumes, pastas, olives etc.... Two isles of bread from pita to lavash to tortillas to ciabatta and more. The deli is amazing but I'm not crazy about the meat department. Customer service is average for a supermarket and finding parking here is always challenging. Overall a great place to shop for food specially for large families that want to save a bit of money. read more

Today I was in the Van Nuys area so I decided to go to the super King Van Nuys instead of my normal super King store in Northridge. What a big disappointment! I was faced with this Rude employee named Martin who tells me flat out that the employees of the store or at least Martin is not about Customer Service or the customers needs. Earlier I had walked by the tangerine booth. I saw that the bin was empty. I went over to Martin and ask him where are the tangerines located he pointed where they were. I looked over and I said the bin was empty and if they can fill it. Non-responsibly he struck his shoulders so I walked over to produce Manager and asked can they bring out fresh tangerines since the bin was empty. He said fine in 10 minutes. I continued with my shopping and 20 minutes later I came in and the bin was still empty so I went over to Martin and as I couldn't find the produce manager, I asked can they fill the bin he says when I get around to it so I walked over, found the produce manager, and I asked for the tangerines to be filled. The produces Manager went and ask Martin to do that. exactly 2 minutes later he walks up to the tangerine bin and tells me why did you go and asked the mgr for Tangerines? I told you I will get to it when I get to it. I told him that I had a doctors appointment that I've been waiting for 20 minutes and I'd like to finish my shopping to which he responded well we don't work around the customers schedule we work whenever we want to. This has left such a bad taste in my mouth and so contrary to my experience in Northridge. I hope the store manger pays attention to Martin and his lack of customer service attitude. read more

This location is on the corner of Van Nuys and Sherman Way located in a giant shopping plaza. The parking lot is always jammed packed because so many other great businesses are in here like Jamba Juice, The Habit (hambergers), Pollo Campero, & more. This place is a grand market that lives up to its name of being a "Super King" of groceries. It feels vast as soon as you walk in. Economical grocery store with many international options. They have lots of middle eastern and Mediterranean ingredients. They often have really good deals especially on produce and meats. It's definitely not high end and you get what you pay for and I mean for the prices you deal with a busy store, ok service and you bag your own groceries. After an unpleasant, protracted conversation with this store's manager about an exchange, I've concluded that this grocery store knowingly does not honor the meat label according to industry standards. The security guards have one thing in common. FOLLOW BLACK PEOPLE AROUND. With the exception of the female security guard. Her and I speak all the time and I am a familiar face to some of the employees. This has been my neighborhood supermarket for the past 10 years. Multiple times I have went into this supermarket and the security guard will leave from the front of the store and will peek down in every aisle that I am in. One specific time I walked into the store, walked down an aisle, and left the store. The security guard came outside and asked me for my receipt. So I questioned what do you need to see my receipt for? I did not buy anything, so why do I need to show a receipt. It escalated where I asked to speak to a manager to deal with the situation. So accused me of stealing without seeing if I stole something. I run a food business and I am here almost everyday, sometimes twice a day. No customer should ever feel profiled. read more

Where they succeed in produce they lack in employee competence. Don't get me wrong, this place is busy all the time. It doesn't matter what time or day, they will always have customers. From hot food service and variety of international foods to choose from, it covers all their customers needs who cook a variety of foods. With that being said, the competence of their cashiers and customer service is lacking. I had the one day where the express line wasn't busy. The cashier saw me put down my 3 items and a divider behind me as she was ringing up items. The next thing I know I was up next and she looked at me puzzled, wondering what I was buying. She charged the man in front of me the 3 items I decided to get after she clearly saw me put them down. Then decided to send us to customer service to straighten it out, blaming me for the not putting down a divider. In my defense, it's HER job to pay attention to charging people the correct items! It's not my fault I came in while she's was ringing up the last couple of items for the man in front and decided to be a dummy and keep going after she saw me put these items down. So I wasted another 5 mins of my time to get down to customer service as the manager had to reimburse the man for my items and then charge me. And she even doubled down saying they required customers to put down a divider. I'm sorry, but that is the dumbest excuse I've heard in my life. No other supermarket would be blaming customers for not putting down dividers. Isn't that part of your jobs?! And if it's the customer's responsibility, I see no sign saying this as this is just an excuse to not be held responsible. This is why I barely come here to deal with incompetent, overprivileged employees. And please don't come after me, I've never been a Karen. read more

Five stars for Krayden who workes in the produce department. Since I can remember shopping at Super King in both Glendale and Van Nuys, I can't recall anyone as helpful, considerate, informative, and kind. He always directs me with a sincere smile and I for a brief moment I forget that I am in a large busy groceery store. Krayden cares for customers as if he owns/manages Super King. Today, when I thanked him for his kindness, he responded "It is my pleasure, thank you for Shopping at Super King." WHAATT??????? I have yet to meet an employee at any store be so genuine. I hope this message reaches his managers and he is appreciated for the joy he brings us. Outside of my comments regarding Krayden, it is noteworthy to mention the cashiers are generally not very social or friendly. The store offers a variety of products including many Mediterranean items (a wide range of herbs and spices and competitive prices). I have spent a lot of money at this store. They have cheap produce and reasonable prices on meat. They also have great prices and sales on liquor. So..... I bought Ciroq cognac here and was sick when I realized that the bottle did not contain ANY liquor but a coffee mixture of some kind. Fortunately, I didn't get sick but I could have been poisoned. The bottle was sealed. I showed the bottle to the Assistant Manager Maria who actually said..... Our bottles are sealed?????? AFTER I told her the bottle was sealed when I bought it. I called the police who advised me to report it to the FDA and also the Better Business Bureau. I am appalled that a business can react so non-chalantly to the possibility that other bottles could have been tampered with. I will NEVER shop here again. read more

I came to get some things like any other times, but also had 2 things to return that Ive bought few weeks ago, but wasn't able to come back again to return. Thought I'd be able to next time I go since markets generally do not have return windows...But since I never had to return anything at Super King before, I asked the cashier Irene as I was checking out where I can make a return, but she says "I don't know." No disrespect, but what kind of employee doesn't know where a customer can make a return at a market THEY WORK at?! It's hands down the dumbest answer I ever had.... I even asked twice, cuz I thought I heard it wrong the first time, but apparently, I did hear it right. She was just...very dumb... Then I walk over to the small counter by the exit and ask "if I can return something that I bought some time ago?" She says "no problem." So I take out the receipt and show it to her and she says because their policy is TWO days and few weeks old is "too long" ago, she's not able to. Idk why she said "no problem" to begin with then... Old ladies deadass stop in the middle of the aisle so no one can pass and they throw elbows if you try! My Favorite Supermarket....but Although it shouldn't matter, somehow it feels like it does, I am a 63-year-old African American male. I have an MBA from Columbia University (I was actually wearing one of their sweatshirts during my visit today). On my way home from Church I stopped at Super King in Van Nuys( I go there more than once per week). I got a few vegetables and dairy products. Then I purchased a bottle of wine from the internal liquor store. I put the bottle in my cart and checked out and paid for my groceries. This is where it goes left. I was having trouble with a clasp on my bracelet so I stopped at the counter where managers and customer service usually are. I asked a nice young lady to help me with the clasp and she agreed to help. While she was helping me another clerk came by and this woman asked me "did you pay for the wine in your cart?" I said "yes" Then she asked me to show her my receipt, which I did. I can understand her asking something to the effect of "did you remember to pay for the wine in your cart?" Although, the Liquor store takes care of that. However, after I said I paid for it, the conversation should have ended. If you are going to ask me for a receipt you are questioning my honesty and suspecting me of stealing. She should never ask that unless she has proof or at least probable cause that I was stealing something. Do they ask all people who leave the store with bottles of wine to show them a receipt? No, because I have done it dozens of times and not had that experience. In what world does a thief stop at the manager's desk to ask for assistance? I actually left the store, but after a few miles of driving, I went back to the store to complain. Super King ....train your employees better!!! If you accuse someone of stealing you need to be right! She didn't so much as offer an apology as she scurried away. I want an apology!! Of all the super kings I've been to this is the least busy. Clean. Organized. Well stocked. Plenty to choose from. Famous deals on produce. Expert tips: check out the deli for some Armenian treats, prepared meats at the meat counter. Want to avoid the crowd? COVID 19 review: I came here early on a sunday morning. There was no line to get inside but it was already pretty packed inside. They have this awkward way one way of traffic to enter. You enter on one side but then cross all the checkout lanes to start shopping on the opposite end of the store. The selection at this store is pretty good and the prices are even better. There is a large selection of deli meats to choose from. The meat and section also has some marinated meats if you want al pastor or carne asada. There was a wide variety of fruits and veggies to choose from. My only complaint is there was no way to navigate those aisles using social distancing. They also have a little separate area for liquor purchases, but they do not allow the carts inside the liquor area, so plan accordingly. I was very pleased with the service here. There was a really long line when I was leaving about 2 hours later so I suggest coming early in the morning if you want to beat the customer traffic. read more

If not for the traffic at the parking lot, this market is really a good one. In almost one stop you can fulfill your grocery list demands. Prices are really affordable and also almost every week they have really cool deals and specials. When you sign up, you start accumulating points, and they always have some sort of a deal where you can use your points and get the exclusive deals. Usually here I buy nuts, mushrooms, yogurt, vegetable oil (they have really awesome special on that too), avocado oil, fruits. Also would recommend to get their marinated asada,so yummy, just bring home and prepare your dinner . Will add that this place is always busy, so either you go early mornings or just dedicate 2 hours and be patient and you won't regret it read more

I came to buy my grocery. There was a guy named Fluffy . He made me change from T-Mobile to AT&T things to his customer service. He's a really great guy.
