This is just a review for their scale. I was about to buy a durian today. $10.99/lb. I weighed it on the scale and it came out 2. I go to the cashier, the cashier weighed it 4lbs. I told the cashier I just weighed it and it said 2lbs. She said the scale is in kg. Why would you price your produce in lbs and have a scale in kg??? I was about to pay double! This seems intentionally misleading. Everything else about this stuff is good. I will be coming back but now I know this place uses deceiving tactics. This location is smaller than the others but still has room for an in-house bakery and a Chinese food to-go deli. The BF bakery had a promo, buy 2 pastries + a drink for only $6.99! Too bad they were out of boba. I got an oolong tea, a Danish Toast and a Blueberry Block pastry. Both were delicious with just the barest hint of sweetness. Then I headed to the back for some hot Chinese food. While browsing nearby waiting for my turn, I noticed a big guy hassling the worker to add more chicken to his 2 items combo. He should have just ordered more chicken à la carte, but kept insisting on paying extra to top off his combo, something the worker could not do. Before I could say anything to mediate, he stormed off acting like it was a language barrier rather than him just being difficult. I felt so bad for her. Maybes it's not a good idea to go into this store or any Asian store the day before Chinese New Year's. Of course I should have known...lol.... Parking here is sometimes a bitch even though it's part of a little strip mall with a decent amount of spots. You have people utilizing the restaurants next door, Vietnamese and Chinese. Which does stay pretty busy. The day before the new year, it was pretty packed in there. With loads of people shopping, they only had 2/3 cashier open. The bakery section right when you walk in was pretty busy as well. A line trying to pay as there was only one cashier who was pretty much doing everything. The store of course is pretty packed. Everyone there to pick up the last minute necessities. Produce department was busy but nothing compared to the butcher department. There was a massive line with people. The produce and all the meats and seafood are fresh. Always when I visit. You pretty much have everything Asian you need there. There's another Asian store not to far but this one has more choices on things. Also, there's a hot food department in the back of the store. Chinese food that's available à la carte or a combo. They also have packed items both hot and cold available. That too tends to have a good line waiting to pick up food. I really like shopping at 99 Ranch Market on Sherman Way. It's a great place to find a wide variety of Asian groceries, fresh produce, seafood, and specialty items that are sometimes hard to find elsewhere. The store is usually well stocked, clean, and has a lot of interesting ingredients if you enjoy cooking different cuisines. The only downside during my recent visit was trying to find live Maryland crabs. I called multiple days in a row hoping to catch the shipment, but unfortunately nobody seemed to know when they would be arriving. It was a little frustrating since I was specifically looking for them. Overall though, it's still a great market with a huge selection and I enjoy shopping here. I just hope they can improve communication about specialty seafood shipments in the future. read more

Located in major metropolitan centers, I highly recommend you also drop by any of their 99 Ranch branches in California and Las Vegas. To me, fish oil's main benefit is that it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease so I often buy their sea-bream, cod, snapper or Pink Grouper or sometimes their fresh cuttle squids. If you're not into cooking your good, they too have a Chinese menu at the other end of the store with some of the regular Chinese dishes that suits your tastes. If you're also starving for bread, my favorite is one of their Chinese cakes, that usually keeps me full for a while. I live in Van Nuys so anytime I want fresh seafood to cook at home 99 ranch is my go to market. As someone who loves Asian flavors I enjoy visiting 99 ranch and trying out new things. I usually go there because their selection of fresh crab and lobster for the price is unmatched. I also like that they will cook your fish for you. I usually go with the red snapper and easily get 2 hefty meals out of it. It's always packed but the service is efficient and lines always seem to move quick. My only gripe is that it always smells god awful in there. I realized one day that I don't spend as much time in 99 ranch as I do in other markets and I'm pretty sure it's the smell. I've been a 99 Ranch Market goer for years, and this location did not disappoint. They have always impressed me with their variety, and the completeness of their stock. Whatever dish you have in mind, they have what it takes. And not only that, they have friendly staff to show you right where to find what you're looking for. They have plenty of fish and other meat options, lots of frozen pre-assembled foods, and a great produce department. One thing I will say is this location doesn't have the most extensive beer, wine, and liquor selection, but honestly there are better places to go for that kind of thing in the first place. 99 Ranch Market is where it's at for asian cuisine, and hot to-go foods! read more

This is the worst Asian market I have ever been to. Hardly anything was on the shelves in the produce section, what was there looked old and some of it was even being taken off the shelves. After going to H Mart and raving about it, neighbors and friends encouraged me to go to 99 Ranch saying it was better and cleaner. It is not. Updated review: From today's visit 12/31/2024. Found weird flavored Lay's Potato Chips: 1. Numb & Spicy Hot Pot (really has the szechuan spicy & numbing sensation that I love!) 2. Sizzling Squid (mild spiciness & tasty) 3. Cumin Lamb Skewers (not good! The lamb smell was very strong) They do have other not-so-regular flavors, but I'm not interested. If you like to try weird flavored snacks, this is the place to go! They sometimes have weird flavored kit kat candies too LOL They have more workers that speak English now. Spacious and organized Asian market that I go to once in a while. I needed a Chinese herbal medicine for a wound and knew I'll find it here. This store carries a lot of imported items such as sauces, noodles, rice, drinks etc. the seafood department is clean compared to other Asian markets and doesn't smell bad. Their sushi great fish is great for making sushi at home. Also you will find unique produce here. Lots of tableware and kitchenware. Until the Westwood location FINALLY opens, I would drive to the Valley just for a hot combo. I absolutely love Chinese BBQ pork. That and Mapo Tofu with glass noodles (.50 cent extra or $9.50 total) made for 3 1/2 outstanding meals. A small soup comes with it, too. The wrapped sticky rice with chicken and mushroom sticky was not good. One barely had protein. When you walk in, you immediately see the bakery section. Pricier than 85 Degrees, with a smaller selection. The coffee-flavored cupcake was airy and great, the scallion roll just tasted sweet. You can also shop for Korean food here. The produce section smelled odd, even through my mask. They seemed to have a large seafood section as well. My main complaint is how crowded the large parking lot is. Never again will I go mid day during the weekend. If you go, plan on following someone to their car for their spot or create your own. I have shopped at this store for years. I usually shop for hard to find veggies and their on site bakery and ready to eat items, which are fabulous and tasty. I specifically went for Japanese matcha ice cream. There wasn't a selection of it at all. But I did find other Japanese crackers and seasonings. Any time my mother or myself need some Asian goods we make the trip to visit 99 Ranch. We are very satisfied with the selection of food and produce at this market. There is a small section towards the side where they sell prepared food to go and that is always something that my mother and I look forward to. They give a generous amount of servings and includes a soup. Two item combo runs about $8.99 and its a steal! Towards the front of the market there is a small bakery. It was packed ofc, but I had to go to customer service which wasn't too long of a wait. The employee who helped me was very nice and got me in and out of there quickly. This store is much smaller than the other 99 Ranch Market(s) I've been in (I think I've been in only one other, maybe two) and it seems to be exclusively Oriental (and American). I didn't see any Middle Eastern or European items. They have a hot food service counter and what I ordered was very tasty, but I was disappointed that it's almost all pork, which limited what I could choose. I found the pre-packaged bakery items (at the back of the store) a bit expensive and of the items I selected, the quality varied greatly. (Unfortunately, I didn't notice the fresh bakery in the front of the store until after I'd checked out.) The parking lot is tight and was busy even mid afternoon. Haven't been to this market in ages!! We used to live down the street from it and it was our go to because it was literally the only Asian market around way back then. Now we live on the other side of town so it takes a bit longer to get here and there are other Asian markets around that are closer and have pretty much the same things. We do, however, have to make another trip soon because they definitely have stuff that the other markets don't! My aunt LOVES crab so of course she had to pick some good looking Dungeness crabs to take home and cook. They used to carry these cups of instant mi goreng years ago and since then, we haven't seen them anymore! We only see the packets now but it would be nice if they still carried the cups for convenience sake like for work or something. They have bags of boba pearls that you can cook/make at home which is pretty neat. Nice selection of snacks and other instant noodles along with various tea. We haven't been to the far right side of the market but they had a Chinese food for take out and not sure if that place still exists. I believe the bakery up front has changed a bit as well since we last went many moons ago. Honestly, it was the first and last. We got a birthday cake for my mom and it was a beautiful tiramisu cake and who knows how long it's been there because it was MOLDY on the bottom and we didn't even know till we sliced it and ate some of it!!!
