Maybes it's not a good idea to go into this store or any Asian store the day before Chinese New Year's. Of course I should have known...lol.... Parking here is sometimes a bitch even though it's part of a little strip mall with a decent amount of spots. You have people utilizing the restaurants next door, Vietnamese and Chinese. Which does stay pretty busy. The day before the new year, it was pretty packed in there. With loads of people shopping, they only had 2/3 cashier open. The bakery section right when you walk in was pretty busy as well. A line trying to pay as there was only one cashier who was pretty much doing everything. The store of course is pretty packed. Everyone there to pick up the last minute necessities. Produce department was busy but nothing compared to the butcher department. There was a massive line with people. The produce and all the meats and seafood are fresh. Always when I visit. You pretty much have everything Asian you need there. There's another Asian store not to far but this one has more choices on things. Also, there's a hot food department in the back of the store. Chinese food that's available à la carte or a combo. They also have packed items both hot and cold available. That too tends to have a good line waiting to pick up food. It's nice to have a decent Asian grocery store that's carries pretty much everything. The staff are always friendly. Produce, meats and seafood are always fresh. Loads of packed frozen food in the fridge. A really big selection of meats for hot pot and Korean bbq. Whatever you want, they have.

Good Asian Supermarket with lots of options for fresh meats, seafood, produce and other Asian snacks, frozen food and noodles. Prices are decent but they often have some really good sales. Staff is friendly for this most part but the market can get busy and parking spots are pretty tight. They do a good job keeping the store organized and clean but it's packed with stuff in each aisle.

Well known Asian supermarket chain offer various Asian snacks, and all sort of groceries. Unlike other grocery stores, you can buy fresh fish, have them clean and fry for you. One of the cons about this place is their cilantro and herbs could be fresher.

Went on Sunday the 15th to get some sweets for Lunar New Year preparations. Tuesda the 17th, this is what I found on one of the sweets. Mold on young coconut strip. If you bought the same brand, please check before eating. I had stomachache because of it.

The most inedible chowmein I've ever tasted . Don't buy premade food here at least not this.

This grocery store will be your mind. It's an immersive Asian experience. Don't forget that they have a hot buffet in the back. Whatever you are looking for they have. The isles are wide and the store is very clean. You will love the look. The checkout stands are fast and friendly. You never have to wait more than a minute or two.

This market could be a lot better to be honest. But it has almost all the Asian produce you won't find elsewhere. This place has been here forever. It has improved but it can improve in the following years. Service has gotten better. Staff is more attentive. It's the interesting smells that get to me ( not in a pleasant way) other than that you get your things and go. If you're new here try to be open minded.

I always try to balance my diet with fish, meats, vegetables, fruits and Chinese food, quite often, and 99 Ranch has them all.. Located in major metropolitan centers, I highly recommend you also drop by any of their 99 Ranch branches in California and Las Vegas. To me, fish oil's main benefit is that it contains omega-3 fatty acids, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease so I often buy their sea-bream, cod, snapper or Pink Grouper or sometimes their fresh cuttle squids. If you're not into cooking your good, they too have a Chinese menu at the other end of the store with some of the regular Chinese dishes that suits your tastes. If you're also starving for bread, my favorite is one of their Chinese cakes, that usually keeps me full for a while. So, if you want to be healthy and eat a balanced diet, drop by any of their stores and also begin your wealth journey. Yes, your health is your wealth!

I live in Van Nuys so anytime I want fresh seafood to cook at home 99 ranch is my go to market. As someone who loves Asian flavors I enjoy visiting 99 ranch and trying out new things. I usually go there because their selection of fresh crab and lobster for the price is unmatched. I also like that they will cook your fish for you. I usually go with the red snapper and easily get 2 hefty meals out of it. It's always packed but the service is efficient and lines always seem to move quick. My only gripe is that it always smells god awful in there. I realized one day that I don't spend as much time in 99 ranch as I do in other markets and I'm pretty sure it's the smell. Overall it's a great local market offering fresh meats, produce and international products in a community that severely lacks options for fresh goods.

Checked out the 99 Ranch to check out some instant coffee packs. Lot of good stuff here and the staff has been good every time I drop by. Plenty of fresh seafood, a bakery, hot lunches ready to go, and of course asian vegetables. There's also an East West bank inside. Decent amount of parking for this plaza. Only thing is they are very tight.

I asked just to clean the lobsters but it was not just cleaned but chopped it on a small pieces. Ouch

Food very fresh very nice service, only problem if you ask to clean the lobsters make sure that they will not chop it on a pieces.

Updated review: From today's visit 12/31/2024. Found weird flavored Lay's Potato Chips: 1. Numb & Spicy Hot Pot (really has the szechuan spicy & numbing sensation that I love!) 2. Sizzling Squid (mild spiciness & tasty) 3. Cumin Lamb Skewers (not good! The lamb smell was very strong) They do have other not-so-regular flavors, but I'm not interested. If you like to try weird flavored snacks, this is the place to go! They sometimes have weird flavored kit kat candies too LOL They have more workers that speak English now. Which I think was great for the service on non chinese speaking customers. Some people say this 99 ranch store was smaller. It's true, but I don't mind. It's easy to find everything. I went to a very big new one at Santa Anita Mall. I didn't like it. Eventhough it was BIG, very new & a lot more modernized, but it was not easy to find things. So... I still like this one the most! ------------------------------------ PREVIOUS REVIEW: I've been here so many times in years. I always go for the Zhongzi, Luo Mai Kai, fried shrimps, har gao & shiumay, fried pork chops, goji berries, hawthorn berries, teas, 3 in 1 breakfast cereals etc. Clean & convenient place to shop for all kinds of Indonesian snacks, spices, condiments, teas, ingredients for my cooking. The produce selections are very widely stocked. I can find rare or hard to find veggies for my cooking that Ralph's, Smart & Final or Vallarta don't have. The bakery section has good variety of cakes, bread and pastries as well with delicious drinks! Good place to shop! Sometimes hard to park on certain hours.

There is a watch in time piece store. There's an international gift store. There's a dry cleaners and shoe repair. There's a kosher meat store. And I'm not sure what all else but it wasn't just a location for a grocery store. And then I walked into the grocery store and Man was I impressed. The store was laid out beautifully in a very old-school fashion where you could see all the cans in the aisles. The store proudly displayed seafood sign. Meat sign. And fresh vegetables. It was very easy to navigate the aisles as they were not overcrowded with promotional merchandise like most grocery stores. The other thing I like about this stores that you could actually touch the produce. Reminiscent of what you could do before grocery store started wrapping everything in plastic And on top of that I got three porterhouse steaks for $41. That is crazy cheap. Back to the deli counter - they recommended I try the smoked sea bass since they don't get it in often so I took some of that and a smoked salmon collar. The hand roll bar was empty since it was late in the afternoon but too early for dinner. I promised the sushi chef there that I would return. So I went back today with a couple of friends. We sat at that hand roll bar and had the best hand rolls I've ever had. We ordered a la carte and I absolutely loved those creations - full of flavor, texture - unique and tantalizing! Service was satisfactory. Fish was very fresh and tasty. I would come again to try the restaurant and their other fish products I missed. So this place is a choose your own adventure (handrolls, fish shop, cafe), built out in this tetris sort of layout. Upon entry you have some high chair seating and the cafe straight to the back. Along the other side is some window seating followed with the fish shop on against the last wall. Overall its pretty small so seating is limited. So much so I was indirectly informed to move from the window seating after sitting there with my bev and bread because that was for the handroll section. So I promptly went outside. Ordered: Iced Chai Latte: 5/5 - Excellent Chai. Best I've had in a minute Banana Bread: 5/5 - Recommended to me by the server. Sigh, reminded me of those good ol covid days. Very good banana bread. BBQ Fish: 4/5 So fun fact - on sundays whatever you buy from the fish shop they'll bbq it for you, pretty cool right? While the prices are a little steep, most of it is by weight so my selected fish actually was only $6. When we do the bbq option you get a little slaw to go with it. I asked the guy to give me a relatively affordable but good option and now I don't remember what it was I know. But it WAS good. It was light, a little citrusy, and surprisingly meaty? If I closed my eyes and did a blind test you could've had me fooled for red meat. If you don't like bones and all I would suggest something else. Now I have to say as soon as I ordered that one of the girls who worked there was on her off day and ordered a salmon burger, and apparently that's off the menu and isn't every week! I felt bamboozled, the fish guy did me wrong haha. With that said, if you can be here for that it seems well worth it, the grill man was mostly cooking patties and I asked one party how was it and they said it was delicious, really packed too, that burger was thick! Now there is some outdoor seating (3) but between the handrolls in the back and the bbq in the front it could be hard to find a place to sit. I got there around 12 Sunday and a few things I wanted were already sold out so I'd say make it earlier or order ahead if you can.
