Too long didn't read summary: if you don't like being surprised by hidden charges, believe that as a customer you have the right to choose what amount to tip, whether to include taxes and hidden credit card fees, and if you normally tip less than 25% avoidance this place. Their policies show a fundamental disrespect for customers. ------ Never have the policies of an establishment so infuriated me that I left a 1 star review without bothering to comment on the quality of the menu, food or service. See attached receipt. Food for three with one dessert was $73.95 or $78.39 with tax . An additional charge for non cash transactions using credit card or ATM increased the bill to $81.53. I don't like passing through credit card transaction fees to customers - it is a cost of doing business and should be covered in menu prices. It is DECEPTIVE marketing to present menu prices and spring surprises charges on the customer when the bill is presented. This is extremely disrespectful of the customers , deceptive, and in my opinion unethical. Now, how many people in a large party justify automatically adding a tip to the bill? 6? 8? 10 or 12? I had a party of THREE!!! 2nd Street added a 25% percent to my bill. And not just 25% of the food, but 25% of after adding taxes AND THE SURCHAGE FOR USING AN ATM/CREDIT CARD!!! See the attached photo of the itemized bill! They charged a mandatory $20 tip on a food order totaling $73.95. That's a 27% tip. For those that don't tip on takeout, remove our to-go dessert order and their mandatory tip is over 30% I hope management invests my $100 wisely. They will never see another dime of mine. read more

Taps specializes in primarily pub food but it's REALLY good pub food. We tried a bunch of different things for a group of four people. Everyone was extremely happy. They have a full bar with several craft beer options as well as a number of wine choices. They also make many different cocktails. Now for the FOOD. Nearly everything was really good. We had the "Baked" wings in 2 preparations. Regular Buffalo and Garlic Butter Buffalo. Rave reviews from everyone. I really like Baked wings. The fried shrimp were fantastic ! Large and perfectly cooked. The Hot cheese balls were especially popular. They have a bit of a spicy bite to them which we loved. The Meatball sub was very good as was the Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. The burger was good but slightly over cooked. The chili was good but not my preference for style. It's got some sweetness to it that isn't my type of chili. Our server at the bar was very good and definitely interested in whether or not we liked her beer recommendations. Taps served up an incredible Easter Sunday brunch for my party of 9. The buffet was well stocked with many delicious offerings. Everything was fresh and tasty. The wait staff were very attentive, friendly and prompt. The bar offered a great range of libations. We spent a whole 2 hours together there as a happy, satisfied family. read more

I've been to Taps about 5 or 6 times now. It's a nice place with decent food and a good atmosphere. It is more of a sports bar than anything else and I have to confess I haven't been there on a really busy sports night but I have enjoyed my visits there thus far. There are lots of TVs so my guess is it's a good place for watching games. Food is typical bar food but everything I've tried has been good. Taps on Second is worth checking out. read more

Some of the seating is laid out all wrong. If you want to watch any of the sporting events or trivia, somebody has to break their neck like an Owl to see the televisions. A few more televisions would do the trick. The meals were expensive. The waitress was super nice. It took well over an hour before we got anything from the kitchen. Half my wings were rubbery and the other half was crispy. I hate it when my wings are not consistent in texture. This was the first time trying this establishment. Stopped in with my wife when we were traveling up to Corning from Pittsburgh. Found this place by accident but it was a happy accident. The food was delicious. I had the Meatball Sub and my wife had one of their salads (forget which one). The meatballs were great and the sauce was JUST right. WE enjoyed it so much we came back on our way home to Pittsburgh and that time I had the Cajun Bacon Brisket Burger which was delicious. And the beer battered fries are some of the best I've had. Dont let any negative review effect your decision to come here, we certainly didn't and we loved it. read more

A little pricey for the type of food, service was slow, downsized wing order from 12 to 10 and upped the price, wings were small. Definitely better places to eat in the area. Where to start. We used to love the food here. Everything was amazing when they first opened. Seems like it's been going downhill over the last year. The service is usually always wonderful. One time we got take out and they forgot to put an order of wings in the bag so the owner drove them over himself. The chicken Alfredo used to be my favorite, hands down. You could tell it was homemade. Now it's just an oily, greasy mess and the pasta tastes different. So, onto last night. The crab pretzel was perfect as usual. My daughter's burger was fine. However the brisket mac n cheese was not the same as usual and not nearly as good.( that's usually one thing you can count on, like I used to count on the Alfredo always being excellent)I ordered the stuffed chicken breast and the lobster risotto to split with my husband. They were both awful. The chicken was dry as a bone and had no stuffing whatsoever. There was no lobster in the risotto, and it was very overcooked. The dogs ate most of those two meals, honestly. The worst part was immediately having to literally run to the bathroom afterwards. This is the first review I've ever done. I would not have done it had the owner followed through with what he said he would. I called in immediately last night after feeling the effects because I didn't want anyone to get sick. He was pleasant and said he would try the risotto and call me back. He has yet to do that. I am not one to complain on a public forum, but this was a 150$ meal, where the issues were taken with a grain of salt. At least with any other restaurant we've been to, they try to make it right in some way, whether that be a refund, replacement, or whatever. I didn't even get the courtesy of the return phone call. We are very disappointed. Not sure we'll go back. Edit: waited a week and still no call back and I found the burger mostly uneaten in the fridge too. read more

Here was our Taps experience. (1) The interior of the restaurant had a sickly disinfectant smell. (2) A woman in a table next to us sang along with the music (this was at 4:30 in the afternoon). (3) A service person from Cintas came into the restaurant and literally kicked up the rugs right behind us before plopping new rugs down. (4) The only silverware provided was a plastic fork wrapped in a paper napkiin. (5) The food was okay. I seriously doubt that anything (including the fries) were made fresh. IN SUMMARY, I don't think this place knows what it wants to be. Is it a sports bar that offers food? Maybe. Is it a neighborhood bar that offers food? Maybe.
