This is Tina A. I live in Tacoma, WA not San Francisco but besides that I tried the Taco Salad with shredded beef. Now besides it being a little spicy( I'm a wimp) it was fantastic. I can't wait to go back (maybe tomorrow) and try it with machaca beef. Yes, shredded beef and egg but to me it sounds delicious. Honestly I don't think they can make a bad dish. iI either arrive to their spot in our car ir use my electric wheelchair and ride over there(I live at the apartments on the other side of Lowe's). My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I think I will go again tomorrow. You won't be disappointed in any of the food here. The prices are good, the food is good and the owners are delightful. Make it a date night or family night (the kids burrito are the best burritos) and make your tummy happy! Way overhyped. Food is mediocre at best Ordered 5 asada tacos, burrito, quesadilla. Total damage was $42 after tax and not including tip. Tacos were very disappointing based on the initial pics I saw in reviews. Not bite-sized but the smaller, street-sized tacos with mediocre asada meat sprinkled with a little cilantro and onion. Burrito was ok, absolutely nothing special. Quesadilla was actually a little overly greasy and I had to damp it before giving to the kiddos Spicy sauce was kinda ok. Had to rush to Tacoma for a early morning meeting. No breakfast, so by 2:30 pm, I was starving. In an unfamiliar neighborhood here, so searched Yelp reviews. Taco truck on the front of a 7-11. There is a slight language barrier, but they were happy to try their best to communicate with me. I ordered chicken tacos. These came with a free choice of soda. They have a nice covered area, with picnic benches inside. People sitting inside had a slight party atmosphere. They laughed and joked with each other. There are times in communal dining, that people ignore each other or act awkward. My chicken tacos came. They were not very good unfortunately. Quite dry. They did come with a small bag of pickled onions, garlic clove and lime wedge. These condiments when added to the tacos did liven up the flavor, as did the green salsa. But they overall were quite bland and skimpy on the amount of chicken. I ordered three tacos and the taco filling amount was enough for 1.5 tacos, not three. Wanted to like this place more. I did observe that the plates other people ordered, had smaller servings. If I was to come back,I would consider ordering more food to offset the small portions. In former reviews, it appears the food was better seasoned and larger portions. read more

Been coming here for almost 10 years, the food is absolutely amazing, it never disappoints!! I would pick this place over a regular restaurant any day any time. First time trying this taco truck but will definitely come back. We ordered 3 tacos each. I got adobada, carnitas and birria. My favorite out of the three was the carnitas. The meat gets crisped on the griddle before serving. The adobada has good flavor but it had too much sauce, if they'd slap it on the griddle to char the meat a little bit it would be much better, the birria was good very flavorful but I got a chunk of grizzle. My husband ordered asada, carnitas and adobada. He liked the asada and carnitas the best. The asada has good flavor and was juicy. The green and red salsas were good, just your typical taco place salsas so nothing to write home about. Overall, good experience. Customer service was good, we got our food fast, portions were good, prices decent. read more

This place has a lot of 5-star reviews and they also have some that are not and after making a dedicated rive to check them out, I see why. The women who took orders was really nice, but she was also the slowest person I have ever encountered in a food situation, there was literally 3-5 minutes between each order because she couldn't focus. It appeared to be her and a man in the truck and since they appeared to have some automation in regard to order processing, it's simple. She takes the orders, takes the money, and hands off meals. The man is cooking, prepping and packaging. I was 3rd in line, and it was legit 15 minutes before I placed my order and each person in front of me was ordering for themselves, so they weren't even large orders. I couldn't follow the conversations because people were speaking Spanish, but again, the process is simple, you place your order, pay, wait for your order and leave. It appeared some people may have tried to alter their order or swap things out, but you SHUT THAT DOWN. If you can stand in line for 10 minutes to place your order, you can order correctly, don't hold up the line because you want to switch salsa, or drinks it's 85 degrees out here with zero shade and people are hungry! The taco plates were cheap, I think it was about $11 for 3 taco's rice and beans and a can soda. These days, you could pay that easy for just tacos, so I was impressed. I was fixated on the Burrito plate and ended up regretting it. At $17 with tax, it wasn't a steal it was meat, onion and cilantro in a tortilla with a small portion of rice and beans on the side with a dollop of sour cream and guacamole. Honestly, it all should have just been in the burrito, would have been easier to eat and since the burrito was about half the size as I expected, it all would have fit inside. If you read my reviews, you know I love seasoning, but on a scale of 1 to 5, this meat was a 10 on a salt factor. It was so salty it was clear someone made a mistake. That said, I was hungry, so I ate it. Ironically, halfway through, the meat was far less salty leading me to believe I was served a portion that caught most of the salt so the meet wasn't stirred or cooked properly I had the carnitas and at one point, a bite tasted like fresh oranges, so again, the preparation was off. When it comes to burritos, I tend to prefer ground beef, but that wasn't an option here and the carnitas reviews were good, but I think I just got a bad batch. Also, it was 12:30 and they ran out of salsa after the person in front of me took all the green sauce. How do you run out of salsa that early? Again, just showed a lack of prep on their part. If this place was close, I'd try them again, maybe try the chicken or steak, but my experience was 1 star and even though I think on a good day, it would be closer to 4, this is no 5-star establishment. The guac was average as well as the rice and beans, so nothing stood out except the overwhelming salt. Consistency counts and I had hoped I would find a winner, but we came up short today! read more

We have been long time customers of Rico's. There street tacos have always been exceptional... until now. Their carne asada has always been very lean & flavorful. Today my tacos were quite literally half fat. They also tasted "off" and sure enough a little over an hour later, my wife & I were both sick. This is a Taco Truck, the four stars aren't for ambiance, they a very simply for the authentic Mexican fare served in typical Taco Truck fashion on paper plates. They have a small covered area to sit in with three tables and a TV. Everything is very clean and kept tidy. I had four tacos, 3 carne Assad and 1 lengua (tongue) and a coke. The selection of meals is quite extensive, the condiments are fresh, and the coke is Mexican with real sugar. This is not Taco Bell! This is real and the most authentic Mexican food I've had in Tacoma. I'll be back for sure. read more

Don't let the small parking lot connected to the gas station intimidate you. They have a bench where you can sit outside and they also have another trailer/ shed besides them where you can sit inside and watch tv. I ordered 3 single tacos and it was only ~$1.50 each which is a great deal. They offer a variety of meats: lengua (tongue), carnitas (grilled pork), cabeza (beef cheek), asada (grilled steak), pollo (chicken), spicy pork, and shredded beef. I ordered the lengua, cabeza, and carnitas. They come on top of 2 small flour tortillas with chopped white onions and cilantro. They do not skimp out on the portions of the meat btw!
