I think these enchiladas are microwaved- the tortilla texture is rubbery. The beans are also a bummer - what's up with this weird tostada bowl? The restaurant is clean and service is good. Fun restaurant with good music and a lot of people.

Update to my last review the food is gone way down. I understand that we're cutting costs but when things get more expensive, this is insane. My gordita came cut all wrong. I couldn't even hold it up with two hands. My burrito was all beans and rice. the Carnitas were all fat. It was gross.

Despite a plethora of Mexican restaurants throughout Oxnard, only a few deliver good quality authentic dishes on a consistent basis. Taqueria Cuernavaca is one of them! Today's visit included the Mole Enchiladas plate and the taco combo #1 with shredded chicken. The mole sauce is a nice blend of sweet chocolate flavor with cinnamon and chile taste. For those with roots in Morelos/Puebla, it'll taste like abuelita's mole poblano. Rice and beans are nicely portioned, with the beans served inside a tortilla shell to add a nice touch of crispiness. The taco combo 1 is simple but a solid portion for $9.99, coming with the full sides of rice and refried beans. Their orange salsa adds a nice spiciness without numbing your mouth for the entire meal, with flavors of chipotles and chile de arbol. Decent amount of seating inside and outside, with a full salsa bar as well if you like to add usual fixins (onion, cilantro, habanero salsa, etc.) Big thank you to the staff as well for always saying hi to my little brother whenever we dine in. Their kindness and remembrance of his order each time highlights their excellent family oriented service. They have locations in Ventura and Santa Barbara as well for folks closer to the beach!

Cuernavaca is usually a solid choice for us, so I'm not sure what happened this time. My chile relleno was tough, and whatever sauce was supposed to be on it was mostly oil. The chicharrón verde taco was also extremely dry. They really need to improve their packaging for delivery--by the time the food arrived, the tortillas were soggy, breaking apart, and all the tacos were packed together, which made the steam situation even worse. On the positive side, my daughter loved the rice and beans, and my husband said his burrito was delicious. I really wanted to enjoy my meal too, but overall I was disappointed with my order this time.

I forgot to take a picture but one is going home with me. It's the gordita is with the cut up chicharrón equally as delicious.

Food was so good. I got the gorditas. I like mine without lettuce or sour cream. But they add requesón and I added asada with some of their green hot salsa. It was perfection. Crispy Gordita with creamy requesón and delicious asada. The staff was so attentive and helpful. Definitely a great experience. The place was clean and they had a variety of salsas to choose from.

This torta was soooo good and a good price too! with a big portion:) definitely worth a try. The service was amazing! The seating outside is lovely since it usually gets packed inside!

They shouldn't have this and expect tip that is rude!!!

I love this place. I've tried many different dishes that never had a complaint...until today. Family was feeling under the weather and decided to order some soup. Now they don't make menudo or pozole during the week just unless you get lucky. So we ordered tortilla soup and caldo de res. All I will say is stick with the pozole or menudo. Super disappointing. Ordered the food to go and it had all the fixings included.

Though the years, we've dined here a few times and have seen it go through ups and downs. Today was a good day. The lengua tacos were fabulous... perfectly cooked, so tender and flavorful. The steak quesadillas were delicious, as usual. The chicken options are a bit dry, so I recommend sticking with the other meat options, unless you're interested in the milanese which was great. There was a bit of a wait but the food was ready fairly quickly. Service was patient, helpful, and very attentive (thank you, Antonio). This is one of our preferred spots when we're craving Mexican flavors. They have the best lengua. Let's hope the experience stays consistently good!

I came here with friends to try the pizzadilla and I was kinda shocked, both how it was and looked. Apparently there are two places in Oxnard that offer a pizzadilla. The other place, Antojitos, is also in Oxnard is something I want to try as well. This version of it is more of a quesadilla than pizza. Overall, this is not bad. I think the cheese, guacamole, and tortillas were the highlights. Definitely felt more homemade and fresh. I do think the flaming hot Cheetos on it kinda took away from the experience I guess, but it did help add texture to it. It is very filling and definitely worth the price. I couldn't even finish the small on my own and end up eating only half, saved the rest. The staff were kind and helpful with the experience. Now I got to see how the other one compares! read more

Went here for lunch it's an authentic Mexican restaurant. Prices are decent we had burrito Pastro, quesadilla chicken and 2 chicken tacos for under $40. The chicken tacos where good with good delicious flavor. My daughter had the burrito she said it was delicious and the chicken quesadilla was pretty good as well. If your ever in the area and want good Mexican food try this place out. read more

Seeing a quesadilla with hot cheetos as one of the top pictures for this place had me very skeptical. But it was surprisingly good! I tried the asada burrito and the lengua taco. First the burrito: Great flavor and size! This burrito mind you has beans and rice and a bunch of other goodness (as opposed to some places where it's just meat). Pretty good for the price. Taco: tortillas were great. The ratio of meat to tortilla was fantastic (lots of meat!). The cilantro and onion added of course good flavor. Green salsa: Fresh tasting, but could use more flavor. It mostly tasted like blended chiles, lacking other essential salsa flavors. Red salsa: had more flavor and was pretty good, but I in general don't like chipotle flavoring. read more

They charger me 10-11 for this bs, that's supposed to be a quesadilla but is the size of a taco. And service was bad too the employees were just talking behind the counter and when attending he wasn't even in a good mood like if he didn't want to be at work. DEFINITELY NOT COMING BACK. SIGH. This place felt like a 5 star review until I found hair in my burrito (gross) food tasted good until that point i was so disappointed this was my first time eating here. Im rarely out in oxnard but when i know im going to be there, i always stop by for a burrito. One of the best burritos ive had in my life and thats what i always get. Asada burrito and i mix the salsas together and pour that baby on it. Delicious every time. Service is fast also and plenty of room to sit. Its gets busy so you know it good. read more

I forgot to bring my protein shake to work for breakfast so I decided I would try a new breakfast burrito spot since I'm still new to the city. I placed in a order to go at Cuernavaca and my order was ready within 10 minutes. The burrito was massive, defenitly can be shared between two people. To my suprise this burrito was a 10 out of 10. As a hot Cheetos fanatic, every time I HAVE to get the pizzadilla. I have never had anything like it, and there is so much meat! Make sure to eat it fresh or else the hot Cheetos get a little soggy. It's a pretty decent size so make sure you get something smaller if you want space to try something else. read more

Was trying to figure out what to get b/c there were so many good choices. I have gotten the tacos so many times b/c they're so delicious especially carne asada and al pastor tacos. This time I wanted to try something different. I saw the Pizzadilla and was like omg I need to get it since it has Hot Cheetos. I ordered the small size and glad I did b/c it was the perfect size for 1 person although it's for 2 people. The cheese, hot Cheetos, carne asada, and al pastor....omg what a delicious combination l. I couldn't finish it b/c I got full with 4 slices but if I could I would've finished it all. The hot Cheetos and spicy salsa for the extra spicy kick....perfect! def recommend the Pizzadilla! Get it! I really wish I would've taken a picture of my food, the owner definitely has his clients in mind as he is not stingy with the meats in the dishes he serves. I have previously met the owner Joaquin and even being a busy business owner he always has a smile on his face and is very friendly. You know, I am always skeptical of placing online orders fearing my order will be wrong, but so glad I did because my order was perfect. We came here bc the pizzadilla was highly recommended. It was ok. There was nothing special about it but it's pretty creative on how they package it. The asada burrito was tasty; liked how they cut them in half before wrapping it in foil. They forgot to give us our horchata so had to go back it. I don't think the woman (maybe owner), didn't believe me which made me feel unwelcome. To be honest, it's a good location for the business since there's a lot of traffic going through but the parking sucks! Park far if you need to. The food average. read more

I discovered this place a few months ago, and an always impressed. The staff is very friendly and accommodates my dads many questions and strange requests due to dietary restrictions. Portions are generous, the food is delicious and never greasy. The prices are more than fair and the tables are always clean and inviting. I only ever come here for their pizzadilla, it's really good. They have a small and large option. I got the small option. However, they put an insane amount of cheetos this time and I can't really taste the flavor of the meat. They put Cheetos on top as well as another layer of Cheetos underneath the top surface. I hope they put less Cheetos. Their sauce is worth trying. They have a variety of flavors and it's worth trying one of each. My favorite is their spicy orange sauce. read more

Counter service is not very friendly, or personable which goes a long way!!!! Their food is very good and is what keeps me going. Most authentic Mexican food around !!!! Thing as a customer I would like to see improve, proper containers for their condiments like their pickled veggies the salad cups are to small for that, and friendlier service, smiles and politeness goes along way. My boyfriend & I have been living in Oxnard for 5 month now from LA and had to find spot that is as good as King Taco. The carne asada burrito are just about as good as King Taco for me. We live about 2 miles away so this place has become our go to Mexican food spot ! The burritos are thick and are about $8.75. We also had chicken tacos & shrimp tacos. They fill them up with so much meat that it makes it work spending over $2 for. read more

Best salsa ever!!!! I'm a sauce girl and love all the salsas they have and everything I've ordered from here has been bomb. Love the chicken tinga tacos/burrito and just ordered a tinga quesadilla today. Everything so delicious best burritos ever. Tortas amazing and huge!! This place is okay not great. The salsa's are kinda weird to me the green and red looks like they add cream to them or something, it looks kinda off putting. The burrito and taco we had were alright nothing special in my opinion. My son had the Pizzadilla he liked it. I probably would go back when in the area but bring my own salsa lol. read more

With that being said, I wanted to try it out. This was about 2 years ago prior to this visit I had today at this location. I jotted the note down after overhearing him talking about it while watching Netflix. When arriving, the environment outside is run down, old fashioned and in the scary graffiti, homeless surrounding. Parking is difficult to find, but we got lucky me and a colleague. The place is on a road side where parking it located a few streets between about 100 feet away. The surrounding had graffiti and loitering which was unpleasant and I would imagine it is worse at night, be careful here! Inside, a wonderful aroma excites you as you enter the restaurant. Booths all around and hard uncomfortable seats. A lot of people came here today on Sunday afternoon. Customer service was excellent, the guy at the front was very chill, polite and acted as if I was his homie, buddy or good friend. This is what I like. I ordered the birria of course, a meat drenched in a bunch of flavors for days to keep the meat juicy, tender and moist. The variations ordered were three tacos plate with birria, onions cilantro and a consome that was massive. This meal was $17. The other order was a four piece birria quesadilla that was absolutely delightful, succulent and had a delicious hunger craving aroma and flavor that any starving or hungry person would die for! This plate was $14. The tacos did come with beans and rice. Between the two dishes the birria quesadilla was my favorite however, the tacos tasted better. The tortilla of the tacos was fresh and made with love. The value was regular, something I expected compared to taco trucks and side vendors of Mexican food. This place is extraordinary. I felt guilty after consumption because it was fatty, juicy and everything you would want in a pleasurable meal, but it was heavy on the calories and filling. It was a messy meal, I added salsas, more seasoning from the condiments bar. There were so many different sauces and fillings like lemon etc. to balance the flavors of the birria. The console incuded was an added kick that I loved. Definitely one of the best if not the best birria I ever had and I highly recommend this place if you like Mexican cuisine at its finest. An absolute hidden treasure that you need to try! I'll come back after a month of consistent cardio and strength training to burn enough fat and make room for another appetite that soothes my brain cells.

I was merely a road-battered pilgrim, six hours removed from Oakland, washed ashore near the freeway at the velvet fringe of Ventura County, in that glossy new development called The Collection, where every building looks as though it was approved by a committee whose mission statement was: Let there be ambient lighting and retail optimism. My dinner choices arrived like mildly desperate contestants in a televised pageant. Cheesecake Factory told me the wait would be twenty-five minutes and that they would text me. Reader, I assume that text is now trapped in a ravine somewhere, being nursed back to health by quail. Then there was some steak place whose name dissolved from memory before I finished looking at it. So into Lazy Dog I wandered, hungry, tired, spiritually fragile, and very open to persuasion. And I have to admit: the place has a certain charm. From the back at night, Lazy Dog is weirdly enchanting. The warm lights, the patio glow, the bottles shining through the bar, the whole thing looks like a lodge designed by someone who wanted to seduce exhausted motorists into believing life is still full of promise. Yet the actual entrance is oddly easy to miss. The restaurant is basically playing hard to get. A chain restaurant with mystery. A flirt. A woodland princess in practical shoes. Inside, the vibe is part upscale sports bar, part polished suburban den, part "let's make everyone from picky teenagers to diet-conscious moms to semi-hungover road warriors feel included." Buffalo Wild Wings, but after therapy, better lighting, and a semester abroad. The seating is not what I would call voluptuous. You are not sinking into a cloud of velvet mercy here. But the room is lively, social, and good-humored. It hums in that specific modern way that says yes, you may order tacos, noodles, a burger, or a cocktail with fruit in it, and no one will judge your lack of culinary allegiance. The cocktail situation was fun. I had the raspberry sangria, which tasted less like old-world wine-country sophistication and more like Hawaiian Punch got hired by a vineyard. It was bright, sweet, cheerful, and only slightly ridiculous. A prom queen in a stemmed glass. I did not hate it. I also did not see God. 3/5. Service was reliable, friendly, and sincere, which in today's dead-eyed hospitality landscape feels almost mystical. No fake grandeur, no attitude, no emotional frostbite. But Lazy Dog somehow lands on the right side of chaos. Not transcendent, not revolutionary, but steady in a way that is more useful than many trendier places would like to admit. The fried hard-boiled deviled eggs were the surprise star. In theory, this is the kind of appetizer that sounds like America whispering, "What if we made the picnic more reckless?" In practice: very good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, faintly absurd, and impossible not to admire. 4.5/5. The shrimp tacos were also solid. Bright, fresh, avocado doing its usual California diplomacy, pickled onions bringing color and sass, and the whole plate looking just photogenic enough to make younger foodie civilians feel seen by the algorithm. 4.3/5. The shrimp Thai noodles were decent too. Not an oracle, not a revelation, not the kind of dish that makes monks ring bells in the mountains, but flavorful and more than respectable after a long drive. 3.8/5. That may be Lazy Dog's real strength. It is not trying to be a sacred culinary temple guarded by tattooed sommeliers and fermented foams. It is trying to be open late, fun, dependable, and welcoming enough to make a tired traveler feel the night still has one last good chapter in it. And after six hours in the car, that is not nothing. That is grace with parking. So no, this is not the hidden gastronomic throne of Oxnard. But it is a lively, late-night, good-energy landing pad with charming exterior glow, sincere service, fun drinks, and better food than a cynic might expect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Mostly because Lazy Dog fed me, comforted me, and acknowledged the passage of time, which is more than I can say for Cheesecake Factory. Also, points for being open until midnight, because some places close early as if adulthood itself should have a curfew. Lazy Dog, by contrast, understands the nocturnal needs of the weary, the under-caffeinated, the gossip-prone, and the mildly glamorized freeway drifter still chasing one last decent meal before surrendering to hotel-sheet oblivion.

Taqueria Cuernavaca is a true hidden gem! Their sopes are absolutely delicious--perfectly made with a thick, warm base that's crispy on the outside yet soft inside. Each one is generously topped with fresh ingredients that are full of authentic flavor. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. To top it off, their agua de jamaica is refreshing and perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with that rich hibiscus flavor that makes it the perfect drink to enjoy with their food. I've been coming here for years for their legendary habanero sauce, plus an entire counter packed with different salsas... absolute . This time, I went for the Trio Mexicano: crispy asada tacos, chicken enchiladas, and a cheesy chile relleno. And if you're craving menudo? Hewwwww! It's on another level. This is really a 4 1/2 star review but it's closer to five than 4 , I had the El Pastor taco and the Connie Asada taco,my wife had a chicken taco and a Porkchop taco shared guacamole, everything was amazing, the green salsa to die for even their pico's got a nice little twist on it,would've given it the full five stars until I used the bathroom, not filthy but could be nicer, and to top it off the people here are so nice,definitely a place to stop when traveling between LA and Santa Barbara.just a heads up my wife's family is from Mexico City so we know our Mexican food... read more

I stopped in while waiting for tailoring to be done across the street. Yesterday I ordered a carne asada burrito, it was excellent. Today, i had to pickup the clothes. I ordered a breakfast burrito, it was awesome and big. The salsa is super fresh, the interior is super clean. I am prompted to write this as i am pleased again. We came here once for breakfast burritos and weren't really impressed, but then tried it for dinner and oh my goodness - so good! Their chicken quesadillas are probably the best I've ever had, and their carnitas are always a good choice. It's great for a quick take-out spot for dinner. Looking forward to trying more of their menu in the future! read more

I don't know is any one else has had this bad experience. Took my family to go eat here yesterday, on our food there was a lot of hairs. Like if the cook just got a hair cut, bad experience I will never go here again. read more
