El Cometa is mandatory stop when we are in El Paso. There's no other place I know that makes their flautas like that. You cannot beat the price. I crave these flautas at home so it's only right to satisfy the craving when visiting. The staff is pleasant and they try to keep the place clean. I have been when it's very packed but today it wasn't. I love that you can help yourself to your own sides and select what salsa you want to use. I like using the green creamy salsa. It really makes it. They also serve cucumbers on the side, which makes it really refreshing. Until next time, El Paso!

Anytime I'm in town, I must go to El Cometa! If you are looking for a place with great flautas, this is your spot. I believe they have 3 locations around the city that close at 4am. The flautas plate is so good and I like that you can order 4, 6, or 8 and there is a salsa/toppings bar where you can grab anything you need. Their horchata and Flan are great as well! As of late, service has been a little slow due to them being short staffed. But the staff is so friendly and polite. This is a fairly inexpensive place as well. Can't wait to go back

Absolutely Blown Away! This place has Five stars all day and all night! They've got a great salsa bar that's kept stocked and clean. I'm from Central Texas and the food is very similar to Tex Mex can be very hard to find in El Paso. Flautas Cometa were perfectly fried and generously stuffed. And covered with fresh cojita cheese. Tacos de Pastor were delicious. They had a hinge of pineapple but not over done. The food was served hot and the service couldn't have been better. My waitress was attentive and very polite.

    Flautas, Burrita.

This place is always delicious, I've never come & had a bad meal. The food is always out in a timely manner & hot. The flautas are a favorite for a reason, the meat inside is tasty & all the toppings just mix so well together. The Burrita is a quesadilla on steroids I always say to people who haven't had it. Juicy, tasty meat & super cheesy. I've moved away from EP now but everytime i come to visit, I'm sure to stop by Cometa before I go.

This is my go to spot for flautas. The best part that I love about this place is that they are open till 4am!!! Crazy right??? I've only been to this location once ... I normally go to the one on Viscount and it's also good. The salsa bar is always full and the señoras that work there make sure to keep it clean. Some of the señoras there aren't too friendly because one of them looked like she gave me el mal de ojo.... If you know what I mean. Maybe she was just having a bad day but I was only there to pick up my food and leave. They give you complimentary chips you just need to ask for them. I'll be coming back again to order and pick up food but make sure to stay away from la señora that gives you el ojo malo...LOL

I don't have an issue with patiently waiting for my food when I can clearly see the business is understaffed, I was willing to give it a pass because of the situation. After a while of not getting our drinks and our chips I looked up and saw why nothing was getting done. If you have a restaurant full of people and are understaffed the last thing you're going to do is chit chat with the cashier and the only other waiter/waitress and therefore not serving your customer. Not once did any of them approach us after being served and while I don't mind getting up to get more drink, I had to get in line to buy one can of soda, tell me why the cashier not just hand that can of soda to me at that moment, no, I had to wait 30 minutes for them to stop chit chatting to get my soda. I was so disappointed with service that night. Ambiance was clearly full of impatient people waiting for their food, some of them even got up to get their own chips.

This is one of my favorite places to come to when I am having a hankering for fLautas de papa. The flautas are cooked just right and taste amazing especially when paired with the salsa de guacamole. The salsa bar is also pretty good and yoU get a good variety. I don't like that you have to wait over twenty minutes For your food and drink to be brought out, especially when you are munching away on cHips and salsa, a drink would be handy. Also the parking situation is awful, but not really their fault, just more of a heads up.

I've been a loyal customer of this establishment since 2008. While the food was never the primary…read morereason I returned, the excellent margaritas and outstanding service kept me coming back for nearly two decades. Unfortunately, that loyalty came to an end after a recent experience that was both disappointing and unacceptable. My family and I chose this restaurant to celebrate a birthday. Every guest paid separately, and there were no issues during the evening itself. However, as the event concluded, multiple attendees, including family members and in-laws, overheard servers making derogatory comments about our party. Among the remarks were that we were "ungrateful," "cheap," and "broke," along with other inappropriate comments that no customer should ever have to hear. I brought the matter to the attention of ownership, hoping for a meaningful resolution. While I was told the employees had been reprimanded, the proposed remedy was a $25 gift card. After nearly 18 years of patronage, the response felt dismissive and only added insult to injury. What disappoints me most is not simply the behavior of the staff, but the lack of accountability and concern shown afterward. This was a place I once considered a reliable and welcoming destination for family gatherings and celebrations. Sadly, that trust has been lost. As a result, I will no longer be returning or recommending this establishment to friends, family, or colleagues. Respect for customers should be a fundamental part of any hospitality business, and in this case, that standard was not met.

The food arrived within about 10 minutes for our group of six, which was impressive. The complimentary fried tortillas were very good, and the salsa was enjoyable as well. I ordered al pastor tacos. The flavor was good, but the meat was very dry. I liked the portion size, especially the amount of meat, but it would have been excellent if it were not so dry.

About 8 large chile toreados, grilled onions.and plenty of corn tortillas. The charro beans were mostly bean soup. I actually poured some of the bean soup into a bowl so we could serve ourselves to avoid some spilling. The baked potatoes were generously bathed in butter. They did not provide any other toppings for the potatoes. Personally I think some sour cream, or Mexican crema de la Mesa, some chives, some other toppings would have been nice. The queso fundido was good but also a disappointment. It was missing the chorizo that I had paid extra for. The meat was very good. Well done but not dry or hard to chew. I was pleased to see that the chicken was not cooked into dryness. We did come across a couple of meat grisel or what in Spanish is called "nervio". This place has a small sign that states that if you pay with a credit card a 3% service charge will be added to your bill. I am pretty good with math and I pointed out to the cashier that they actually charge 4%. He did make a correction on my bill. Be ware of your bill. Otherwise they do give you plenty of food. It reminds me of a Mexican parrillada/ grilled cook out. The food here was very good, good tasting, and in spite of the small glitches worth it. We will be returning again.

Looking back, El Cometa is what started my taco obsession. Their tacos al pastor con queso are so good. The marinated pork is perfectly seasoned, a little greasy in the best way, and topped with melted cheese. One thing I love is their salsa bar. I always grab the red salsa, green salsa, and guacamole. I pile all three on my tacos, and every bite is amazing. Their tacos remind me of my favorite tacos at the resort my family visited every summer in Cancún. Even though it has been years since I have been there, El Cometa brings those memories back with every bite. The staff is incredible. Last summer, the hostess recognized me right away and seated me immediately. She even remembered my order. I order the exact same thing every visit: tacos and two cans of Sprite. The fact that she has been there since I first started coming in 2019 makes every visit feel like coming home. From 2019 until I moved away in 2022, I went there almost every week.
