I like this family run Mexican restaurant for fresh and quick service!!! I like their taquitos as they're big and delicious but my favorite are their breakfast burritos. I love that they come with potatoes and refried pinto beans. I can't wait to try their American menu offerings as well since I'm sure they're also fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend this joint when in the Glendale area!!!

I've been coming to Taqueria El Tapatio for over 15 years, and it's been consistently amazing every single time. This place never misses. My go-to is the nachos de asada with everything--they're loaded, flavorful, and always satisfying. The cheese tacos are also a must. Both are packed with flavor and always made right. The people are very nice and always remember my order! Great vibes always. This spot is a true gem in Glendale. Great food, great people, and a place that's stood the test of time. Highly recommend!

Very decent taco spot. I had asada, al pastor, and cabeza tacos. Asada was good, al pastor and cabeza were not bad either, I personally prefer al pastor on the crispier side so will have to ask and see if they can make it extra crispy next time. Prices are good for these days, many places charge $2.5-3 per taco now, which is insane, only a few years ago $1-1.5 was the norm. Here it's still just under $2 and the meat ratio is ideal in my opinion. 6 of them got me full, you can probably get away with 4-5 if not too hungry. Salsas are decent, and they don't sting out on peripherals - pickled jalapeños and carrots, radishes, limes. The service was pretty quick too and they have outside sitting. Definitely coming back.

Tiny portions. There's more tortilla than meat . I drove 20 minutes out of my way for this .

    Pastor Burrito

I was so hungry, I really wanted a greasy, pastor burrito to take off the edge and I wanted it to taste good. But the pastor has absolutely no flavor It tasted just like beans and cheese and meat but no flavor. Super sad about it. Tortilla was good, and size is good

    Asada Tacos. Bland. Weak salsas.

The breakfast burritos and carnitas (tacos/burritos/torta) are very good. Prices here are cheaper than street vendors. Taqueria El Tapatio has been serving the Glendale community since 1979! They are welcoming here and the tasty food comes out fast. Good spot if you are in a hurry. The ambiance and location is a total shack, but it's SAFE for the most part. I been coming here for years. Most people do takeout, but if you decide to eat there bring a jacket. The mysterious wind breeze will definitely be felt. Credit Cards and Apple Pay now accepted; it's no longer cash only.

This place might just be my new go to spot for Mexican food! You can't beat the prices. Less than $3 per taco and they're full of meat? Amazing. This small business is located in a little corner and parking can be a little tough to get, but so worth it! We got a feast of food: al pastor, birria, fish and lengua tacos, aqua frescas, and a quesadilla. All tasted delicious! The birria did not come with consommé. They forgot to give us one taco so we drove back, and they added an extra one. This is a small stand with limited seating outside. Will 100% be back!

Best carne asada I've ever had! We placed a huge order for a 10 person corporate lunch and everything turned out fantastic! The service was great, very accommodating and they gave us plenty of extras and salsas.

got five tacos and an asada burrito which was such a great decision. We were looking for a spot to eat after going to the Glendale mall and found this place. This was better than any places I've eaten in that mall!!! Super tasty and affordable, something quick. service was great! The guy who handed us our food gave us everything we needed in a heartbeat.

The nachos were absolutely amazing--one of the best parts of the meal. Before we even ordered, they brought out chips with green and red salsa, and even those chips were delicious. However, the enchiladas were not good at all. Still, the nachos were so good, with guacamole and cheese coming together perfectly, that I would definitely go back whenever I'm craving nachos. Lately, I've been really enjoying watching World Cup soccer games, and it was fun to watch and cheer together while having dinner there. One thing I noticed: the women's restroom was not well maintained at first. There was no toilet seat cover and no toilet paper in one of the restrooms, so I felt it could have been cleaner and better managed. However, when I went back a second time, I saw a staff member actively restocking supplies, handing out toilet seat covers and toilet paper to others, and communicating with housekeeping over a radio about what was needed. That made me feel better about how they manage the facility. Overall, from the hostess who seated us to the servers, all the staff were very friendly, which made the experience even better. And, the nice atmosphere is a plus.

Apparently, my friend and other mutual colleagues/friends still kept in touch with each other on a regular basis (I wasn't good about that) and met here fairly often on Mondays. My schedule was always difficult, but on this fateful date, I was available and geeked to hang out with people I haven't seen in over a decade easily. Having served Montrose since 2002, they have since become a pillar of the community with their family recipes and fresh homemade cuisine. I was surprised I'd never heard of this place since I grew up in the area and still relatively frequented it. Would my first time at the sun be my last, or would the family feel (and happy hour!) bring me back!? PURCHASE(S) Chips & Salsa (COMP): Both homemade, the chips were crispy and warm while the salsas were spicy and warm - arriba! Blended Mango Margarita Blended ($7.00 HH): Mango flavor throughout with enough tequila, this was a nice way to start my imbibing on this hot day! Asada Street Tacos 2pc ($5.00 HH): Marinated tender beef with diced white onion, this was simplicity at its best! Carnitas Street Tacos 2pc ($5.00 HH): Same as the asada tacos but chicken! Strawberry Margarita On The Rocks ($7.00 HH): Fruity and sweet with just enough tequila but more ice than I liked. Bean & Cheese Nachos ($5.00 HH): Hot beans and melty cheese, this was very basic but served its purpose. Peach Margarita On The Rocks ($7.00 HH): Refreshing but same as the strawberry version. Cheese Quesadilla + Chicken ($5.00 + $1.00 HH): Another dish that helped to absorb the alcohol with a decent amount of chicken. Bohemia Pilsner Beer 4.7% ABV 12floz Bottle ($5.00 HH): Bright amber color, malty aroma, light body, malty sweet warm watery flavor, crisp finish, and light malty sweet watery aftertaste. A slightly elevated Mexican cerveza - salud! Pacifico Clara Lager Beer 4.5% ABV 12floz Bottle ($5.00 HH): Bright amber color, malty salty aroma, light body, malty warm watery flavor, clean finish, and light malty watery aftertaste. An easy-breezy beer! SERVICE Warmly greeted by a young gentleman who ended up also being our server. I was the first to arrive, and when I mentioned my friends' names, he took me to their standard booth, gave me a menu, a glass of water, and complimentary chips and salsa. He returned moments later, took my first of many orders, and as our ever-growing party kept showing up, he was on us with such ease while he kept his head on a swivel as orders came from all directions. He was the bomb - muchas gracias! PARKING (FREE): They shared parking within a small strip mall that featured a handful of other businesses such a laundromat, a liquor store, and more. Otherwise, there were many spots along the main drag of Honolulu Ave. - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A casual clean somewhat packed floor plan with two dining areas (the main front and the side) filled with a mix of booths and partitioned tables, I didn't notice an actual bar, and minimal cultural decorations added some splash along with some 2026 World Cup fever. Plenty of natural lighting entered through the front doors and windows while an assortment of electric ceiling lights would've covered the rest as it got darker. There were several low-volume TVs throughout while I couldn't recall any background music. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I had a fun time at El Sol Family Restaurant mainly because I caught up with so many people I haven't seen in so many years and to be introduced to a new business to me with a very good happy hour. I hoped to join them for more happy hours and actually try their full menu. The food was yummy, the prices very affordable, the menu was rather sizable, and the service was awesome. Plus, I preferred to support small mom & pop businesses whenever possible. I found complete value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $60.00 BEFORE any discounts, points usage, and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 5.0 STARS

When we finally cut into it, we realized they had given us a completely different burrito/order. I immediately called the restaurant, and I was told that corrections or refunds could only be made the same day. At that point it was already around 11:45 PM. I live about 20 minutes away, so driving back would have put me there after closing. I even offered to send a picture of the incorrect order, but was told they couldn't access the email. What made this even more frustrating was how unaccommodating the employee was. Knowing there was no realistic way for me to drive 20 minutes back to the restaurant before closing, I expected at least some effort to find a reasonable solution. Instead, I felt like I was simply being told there was nothing they could do. When I said I would contact upper management for a resolution via email, the employee even seemed relieved, rather than concerned about resolving the issue. I understand mistakes happen, but the restaurant made the mistake--not me. The least they could have done was offer a refund for an overpriced burrito that I didn't even order. It's now past midnight, and I have to drive way out of my way just to find somewhere that's still open to get food. Very disappointing customer service, and unfortunately I won't be ordering from here again.

The impeccable vibes of the (deceptively large!) restaurant, chill live music performance on the patio, the varied regular menu, plus our server and Chef Erik convinced us to try more. I've got no regrets. It's easy to have a great time here if you bring good company, and to have a great meal. Located in a nice part of town, as well, if you want to take a post-meal stroll. Dine LA was a promotion that ran from 08/14 to 08/28 and it was $45 per person, not including tax or tip and each person selected four items from a pre-determined menu. We had: - Patatas Bravas (diced roasted potatoes drizzled with garlic and red pepper aioli) - Albondigas (moroccan spiced beef and pork chorizo meatballs in tomato sauce topped with manchego cheese) - Berenjana Frita (breaded eggplant topped with honey) - Croquetas de Jamon y Pollo (creamy croquettes of chicken and serrano ham) - Champiñones y Trufas (sauteed mushrooms, truffle oil, garlic, cream sherry, bread crumbs and chives) - Gambas al Ajillo (white shrimp cooked in mojo de ajo, butter, grilled bread) - Churros con Chocolate (churros with chocolate dipping sauce) I closed my eyes in delight and felt like weeping during several 'first bites' of these dishes. Is this really how Spaniards dine? I'd order everything again and then some. The eggplant, mushrooms, and potatoes were a standout. Everything is so balanced with sweet and savory in each bite, though. Those are smaller items part of the special offerings, and you can order off the regular menu, so we had: - Pulpo Casa Córdoba from the tapas del mar menu (tender sherry-braised spanish octopus served atop potato pavé with smoked paprika aioli, olive oil and sea salt - Pintxo de Vientre de Cerdo (sherry-glazed crispy pork belly pintxo, fried goat cheese, fig jam atop grilled focaccia - Flan de la casa (creamy flan served with thyme macerated pears, marcona almonds and cinnamon tuile) - Tarta de queso (Basque-style cheesecake, house strawberry jam, orange sumpreme) The pulpo was the star, and thankfully my friends told me about the documentary My Octopus Teacher after the meal. I may not eat pulpo for a very long time- if ever again. For postres, their cheesecake was a no-bake cheesecake. It was ungodly good, as was the flan. Our total bill was well over $45 per person, expect to pay more like $80-$100 per person, easily if you're dining out and ENJOYING yourself and/or having a cocktail, as well.
