Today, I had their Southwestern Chicken salad, and it was amazing. El Sol is always consistent with their food.

As always, El Sol never disappoints. I had their Southwestern Chicken salad and it was Amazingly delicious.

I have not written a review in quite some time and this is absolutely insane.. This is considered fraud. The photo posted is his online pricing .. my husband ordered two soups and somehow just spent $53.. We called to inquire because we did not get a receipt. I have been eating at this restaurant for years and the owner. Manuel was speaking to me on the phone and decided to lie to me and tell me that he would tell the owner that his pricing is wrong.. if you are not willing to sell your food at the advertised prices online then don't sell it at all. While, I completely understand supporting small businesses overcharging us over $20 is not OK. I will be calling the credit card company to report fraud .

We started with 2 margaritas and a guacamole . The drink was good and strong. The guac was good too . They bring chips with salsa and warm bean dip complimentary . The food came out and it was all tasty. Now the short comings. Their Yelp listing had menus from 6 years ago . That really gets me to start with . The menu they give you has many white out changes . But the bill came out higher than the printed prices. Not by much, but still higher . I use cash . But if you choose to use credit. There is a 3.99 % up charge . Nobody pays that much for card processing . Get with the times . These are easy things to change to improve your business . The service was really attentive . I will return.

I've always driven by this place and was curious to finally try it. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Their outdoor space caught my eye since they've built a structure in the parking lot as a result of covid. Anyhoo, the wait for outdoor seating was insane, so we decided to sit indoors. Every table and booth was packed with people and it wasn't even 6pm yet! Service was friendly when you could get a waiter, but that was incredibly few and far between. It was nearly impossible to get a refill on water. I have to say the food was pretty mediocre, but we also probably got non-traditional things? Maybe...? - Buffalo Wings - I don't really know why they have buffalo wings at a Mexican restaurant... If you're on the fence about them, 100% do NOT get them. The buffalo wings came out soggy and wet. Hard pass. They didn't even come out with any sauce (like ranch dressing or anything) and we couldn't get a waiter to ask if sauce even came out with it. - Chicken and Bean tostada: this was just okay. It's pretty weak and was kind of watery. (Compare... I love Joselitio's tostadas bc they're really big and filling.) - Menudo soup: There was a ton of hominy in the soup. The soup itself was a little lacking in flavor and was very mild in taste. Maybe that's a good thing for people who don't like dank menudo, but we love authentic menudo. This kind of missed the mark. :( Overall, we'll probably never come back. We'll just stick with Joselito's in the future.

MY FAMILY LOVED DINNER ======================= Years ago before I was married and I lived in Tujunga I always loved going to El Sol. It was my favorite Mexican restaurant. My husband can be kind of hard to please when it comes to Mexican food, so for whatever reason I never took him there. If he doesn't like a restaurant then that is the kiss of death. Fast forward a couple of decades and my son suggested we get take-out during the Covid pandemic and I was ecstatic. Who knows why I never went on my own or with girlfriends. That remains a mystery, but my husband and son loved our dinner which was shocking. Everything is great, especially their margaritas to-go. I loved the chicken enchiladas verdes. If you want chicken and not cheese don't forget to tell them. My husband loves the beef fajitas. My son really liked the ropa vieja and and chile Colorado. If my picky husband likes it then anyone will like it.

The service was outstanding; they refilled said chips and AMAZING salsa three times. The food (generous portions) came our quickly and they refilled the waters before being asked. What can you make vegan? I asked, since the menu didn't mention anything specifically. The waiter, unbothered, began listing what they could make me but I stopped him pretty quickly at enchiladas. They ended up being good but the star of the plate was their vegan rice; it was clearly different from what all the meat eaters got on their plates. There's was yellow/orange, but mine was green and fragrant- cilantro and lime clearly central in the cooking. SO GOOD! I will definitely come back for the service and to try something else from the ready list of vegan entrees they seemed happy to offer off-menu.

The nachos were absolutely amazing--one of the best parts of the meal. Before we even ordered, they brought out chips with green and red salsa, and even those chips were delicious. However, the enchiladas were not good at all. Still, the nachos were so good, with guacamole and cheese coming together perfectly, that I would definitely go back whenever I'm craving nachos. Lately, I've been really enjoying watching World Cup soccer games, and it was fun to watch and cheer together while having dinner there. One thing I noticed: the women's restroom was not well maintained at first. There was no toilet seat cover and no toilet paper in one of the restrooms, so I felt it could have been cleaner and better managed. However, when I went back a second time, I saw a staff member actively restocking supplies, handing out toilet seat covers and toilet paper to others, and communicating with housekeeping over a radio about what was needed. That made me feel better about how they manage the facility. Overall, from the hostess who seated us to the servers, all the staff were very friendly, which made the experience even better. And, the nice atmosphere is a plus.

First off, it's a beautiful restaurant with Spanish touches throughout. There is seating inside and outside the restaurant in the courtyard. In the courtyard, there was a musician playing the guitar. Loved, LOVED his rendition of Hotel California. Really put me in a relaxing mood. The food here is unbelievably good with a few minor exceptions. Here is a run down of everything we had: -Patatas Bravas 5/5 stars. The roasted potatoes were delicious and the creamy sauce drizzled on top made it that much better. -Croquetas de Jamon y Pollo 4/5 stars. I remember it being tasty, but it wasn't as memorable as some of the other things I tried. -Gambas al Ajillo 5/5 stars. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and flavored. Even the bread, which tasted like sourdough, was fantastic. -Calamares Fritos 10/5 stars. No, that is not a typo. I usually avoid calamari like the plague since I'm not a fan of the taste. Here, however, I couldn't stop eating the calamari. I was popping them in my mouth like popcorn. There was something about the batter they used to coat the calamari. It had a satisfying crunch to it. Didn't even need the sauce it came with. -Prime Ribeye (prepared medium rare) 3/5 stars. The steak was okay. It was a bit undercooked and didn't have a nice crust on it. -Papitas Fritas: 10/5 stars. Once again, not a typo. The fries here were something special, which is saying a lot since fries are ubiquitous. The fries were delicately crispy and delicious. -Jamon Iberico Cebi de Campo with Manchego Cheese 4/5 stars. The Jamon Iberico was good, but not great. It had a slightly weird after taste that I usually don't get from high quality Jamon Iberico. -Tarta De Queso and Churros con Chocolate 3/5 stars. These were the only two items that I was truly disappointed with. There was nothing special about these dessert items. The churros were bland. -Cucumber Mint Cooler and Devil's Day Off 5/5 stars. Both of these drinks were refreshing. The Cucumber Mint Cooler, in case you're wondering, could best be described as a well executed, non-alcoholic cucumber mojito. The Devil's Day Off was a fizzy grapefruit and cinnamon delight. I have to end this review with the service. It was top notch. Our server, Robert, was not only extremely friendly, but helpful and informative. He walked us through the menu and talked us out of ordering certain items so that we wouldn't over order food or get items too similar to one another. At one point, we were debating whether to order the Churrasco a la Plancha (8 oz ribeye) or 12 oz ribeye. One person from our family wanted the fritas that only came with the Churrasco while another person (me) wanted the 12 oz ribeye. Robert resolved the disagreement by suggesting that we just order the 12 oz ribeye and they'll throw in the fritas for free (which they did). At the end of the meal, he made sure to point out that the gratuity had already been added to the bill and that there was no need to add a tip. We appreciated the heads up, otherwise we may not have noticed that. If it's not clear from my write up, I really enjoyed this place, despite a few items that missed the mark. If it wasn't so far away from where I live, I would have been back this weekend to try out more items from the menu.
