We had the picadillos tacos and the carne asada tacos. They were delicious! Staff were very kind and welcoming as well. Highly recommend.

This neat spot in West Yellowstone features an interesting old-timey ambiance with a moving train…read morechugging along overhead. Our server was very friendly and conversational and recommended some of their best meals. We went with the elk ravioli and lasagna. The ravioli was good but the lasagna was very oily which was a bit off-putting. For dessert, we ordered the huckleberry cheesecake which was disappointing given that it was just a regular cheesecake with a little bit of huckleberry sauce on top.

"The revolution will not be televised And will not star…read moreNatalie Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia" (Gil Scott-Heron) Dinner at Bullwinkle's was a very pleasant experience. First of all, we were thrilled to see it was open, as so many of West Yellowstone's restaurants had already closed for the season. It was a real neighborhood kind of a place, and by that I mean totally unpretentious and without any of the foo-foo fanciness that pops up in resort towns now and again. Their menu was solid -and concentrated on burgers, sandwiches, steaks, local elk, bison and walleye, and Italian Pasta with a "Montana Twist". More on that soon. We started off with a complimentary basket of house baked bread that was so good it just about disappeared in ten minutes. I felt like having a beer, so checked out their beer list of local beers before choosing a Halo Huckleberry Hefe ($6) by Lewis and Clark Brewing of Helena, Montana. Huckleberry is a local specialty, and nearly every gift shop sold jam, jelly, honey, and candies made from it. We both love Italian food, so we zeroed in on those Italian Pasta with a Montana Twist specialties. My wife chose the Bolognese ($23.99) for "Elk and bison meat sauce tossed with rigatoni pasta and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese." I went with the Meatballs ($24.99) for "Elk and bison meatballs tossed with bucatini pasta and house-made marinara sauce". Wowie... were both dishes great. The Elk and Bison tasted pretty close to beef, and I have to say my meatballs were excellent. I tried a bite of the Rigatoni Bolognese and it was also excellent. The house made marinara was a standout. Our server Emily was a charmer and really enhanced our dining experience. Simply put, we loved Bullwinkles and thought a $57 dinner with a drink and great food is a very solid value.

My husband and I got here around 6:30 on a weeknight, and not only they were already out of baked…read morepotatoes, their seating was completely full. How good is their food? You'll need to get here early to find out!! We both got pulled pork sandwiches with sauce on the side, and a small side to go. The spicy sauce is not habanero hot, but medium spicy, and very flavorful. The portion size was good, and the happiest part for me was that the cole slaw was on point. You know that cole slaw that you're gonna end up throwing away after a single bite because it's soggy or too vinegary? That ain't this! Crisp and lightly sweet, super fresh, and delicious. I was not disappointed! Hubby reports that the mac & cheese was good as well. Enter and line up to the left to order. Menu boards are on the wall so you can peruse what's not yet sold out while you're in line. The limited menu means they do a few good things really, really well. Indoor seating is a bit cramped, but clean. Service is quick and friendly. Can't ask for anything more from a barbecue joint than that! The number of reviews they've gotten on Yelp look like they outnumber those of any other restaurant in town. And while many of the business owners here seem to work together to support each other's efforts, this was the only restaurant suggestion I got without even asking. If the locals are saying, "Have you been there yet?" It's worth trying!

The coleslaw was well dressed and the pickles were tart in the right way. The line was none stop while we ate and as we left. They know what they are doing.
