STILL FIRE! I brought my mom this time and she a picky eater, doesn't like just any place and she approved! She had a quesadilla de flor de calabaza and she loved! We also had menudo again cus menudo here is the best! I really wish they would do las tortillas a Mano! However you can't beat the flavor! My hubby had chilaquiles with asada and they did not disappoint. This place is a MUST!!

One of the few places I've been able to find that have machetes. And the size is enough to feed three! Appreciate the condiments bar with various sauces, radishes, cilantro & onion, and limes.

    That's HALF of the order.

Had Quesobirria for Taco Tuesday yesterday. Outstanding, although this cart nails it on the regular. Big 'ol portion WITH the consommé, $14. I'm always kind of shocked when Quesobirria is on the menu, but... the consommé is $2 extra. WHAT? It's part of the dish!! That's like ordering a taco and being told if you want it in a tortilla, that's $1 extra! Not here, not ever. El Burrito Azteca, I'm looking at YOU. WTF?!?

We are from out of state and im surprised by how good this place actually was. The customer service was good, the ladies were very nice and patient. The food was brought out hot and it looked and tasted better than I thought it would, they were also big portions too which I liked for the price we paid. Everything was tasteful and authentic. The environment was good too, I loved the mexican music they played.100% recommend !

I've heard good things about this place so made the trek to the always shady 82nd ave. Ordered the machete and the birria torta . Expected bigger flavors but the food was fresh and hot. Pretty good salsa bar. The music was a little loud for my liking but people seemed to enjoy it. The food came out pretty fast so that's a plus. Will I go back???? Hard to say. Good day all!!

It is a food cart completely set up like a restaurant! It has seating with a tv and heaters. The person taking your order was nice. They bring the food to your table if you eat there. had the tinga machete and it was delicious! The pina colodas taste like a shake. The pambazos was really good too.

Amazing authentic Mexican food cart and good prices. Definitely will be coming here on a regular basis. Rich flavor and great food portions. They also have a help yourself sauce bar with all kinds of chili, lime, onions, cilantro and radishes.

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

We ordered the Quekas with vegan chorizo and black beans and they were SO good, honestly a standout. The chips and guac were also a hit, and I loved that the guac was actually cold. Such a small detail that makes a big difference. The Citrus Salad was super fresh, crisp, and delicious, which balanced everything out perfectly. I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Also, the Tetela de Requeson, maiz, beans and sprouting broccoli with a house made requeson - kind of like ricotta cheese - very beautifully plated and so delicious. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past. Now I'm watchful and ready to go back and see what the chef Angel is serving up. What else is so special is Republica was a James Beard award nominee too!

We asked for the bean dip, but we found out when we received our bill that it's not complimentary anymore. Bummer. It was good, but not worth the extra $5. They were extremely generous with their chips and salsa, so in the end we were okay paying the extra $5. We ordered the chicken quesadilla and charbroiled burger. Both were great! Fresh ingredients.
