Authentic little Mexican restaurant on Navy Blvd. Excellent service, food, and ice cold cerveza!! Best tamales around! Shared one of our favorite dishes, molcajete. The chicken, skirt steak and shrimp were marinated divinely. Highly recommend!

There are not a lot of "good" Mexican restaurants around here, at least from what I've found. When I read the reviews for this place I had to give it a try. I admit I'm kind of a Mexican food snob being from California and having visited various regions of Mexico quite a number of times over the years, so I would actually rate this establishment at 3.5 stars. I rounded up to 4 because of their salsa bar. The service is good. I love the cleanliness, decor, and general feel of the place. Now let's talk food. I mentioned salsa. The salsa they serve with the chips is a very flavourful, yet mild, red salsa. The family loved it. I like a little more kick! Well, when I visited the salsa bar I found it! Their habanero blend is awesome! The chips are nice and fresh, lightly salted, very good. As far as the meals go, I liked the beans a lot, the rice was pretty good, but the chile relleno and tamale were not the best. According to my daughter the el pastor street tacos were good. My son liked his cheese enchilada, and the chicken tacos el carbon are also reportedly good. I will return, especially because the salsas are so delicious, but I will try something different next time for my main course.

Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants in Pensacola. Their assorted street tacos are delicious. This place is definitely my go to place if I want to take a break from my low carb life style. I also had their half a chicken, and the Carne Asada. This is my go to for low carb. I just don't order the rice. Try anything Al Pastor in the menu. It's a style of cooking that the Lebanese brought over to Mexico. It's prepared with a vertical spit roast like a Shawarma or Gyro. This is hidden gem on Navy Blvd.

The food was so delicious I'm convinced the chef has a direct line to my taste buds. Every bite was like a little fiesta in my mouth--no RSVP required. The atmosphere was authentically Mexican, so much so that I half-expected my grandma (who's not even Mexican) to come out of the kitchen yelling "¡Ándale!" And the music? Let's just say it was so lively I had to remind myself I came to eat, not join Dancing with the tacos.

The food is delicious! We got 2 burritos and they were excellent! The service is very good, very attentive!

YUM.........YUM.........YUM!!!!!!! I kept hearing about La Barra Del Taco and I was getting more and more curious. Finally someone came into the office and told me that it was super delicious so we set out on Saturday to check it out. To be quite honest it is not in the ritziest area of town, it is on Navy Blvd pretty much directly across from House of Chong. There have been some renovations and the place is looking better. It was a bit rougher around the edges back in the day than it is now. We walked in and were greeted right away by the same lady that ended up being our server. She was very interested in us, and made sure we had everything we needed. As she left for our drinks, she made sure we knew about their salsa bar. That's right! A salsa bar, its not huge like Tijuana Flats, but it has several options two of the salsas (one green and one red) will blow your mind! They both are probably the very best salsas I have ever put in my mouth. They are almost savery and full of umami. A word of warning...........BOTH are very spicy! I could not stop putting them all over my food. I was drinking them from the to-go containers at one point, just to be able to taste them by themselves. Damn if I could only replicate them. How was the food? It was delicious! H.S. had the shrimp ceviche and I had veggie fajitas. Her's was fresh tasting, fantastically done with no fishiness and great texture from the lime doing its thing. It is served with three perfectly crunchy tostadas, but the chips are excellent and worked as well. I love vegetarian fajitas and they were good, for sure. My only comment would be that I like my veggies to have considerable char on them, it adds flavor. These were cooked down well, just not charred. No problem I will ask for that next time, or better yet, next time I will not ask a Mexican restaurant that leans to more traditional fare to make me something that was invented in America. Amateur move on my part. H.S. was smart and she out ordered me again. One thing I want to say for sure here is that we were some of the very few caucasians in this restaurant mid day on a Saturday and there was a soccer match on. La Barra is clearly a gathering place for Latin American locals to watch football. It was super cool being apart of the fun. It got pretty exciting in there! Hell, H S. said she might like to start watching, and I can't think of a better place. Good food, and a great time! What else can you ask for? I nearly forgot to mention the Tamales! Fantastic tamale sauce and melted cheese on top plus a very good masa to protein ratio! Very similar to the Mississippi River Delta Tamales I grew up on! Amazing and flavorful! Too many places serve theirs with way too much bland masa with no sauce to help the flavor and to keep the masa moist. These are done right. If you think tamales are bland and dry, you haven't eaten here.

The service has always been great. The tacos are very good, the half bbq chicken is excellent. Since they added the other side the place looks a lot better.

    Chillie Relleno AMAZING

The chillie rellenos are amazing! We went 30 minutes out of the way last Monday and they were so good we came back again today We even got some to-go to take back to TN. The waitress and manager were so nice it added to how great the meal was.

Last night in Pensacola and we were all craving Mexican. I live in Denver, home to some of the best Mexican food in the country. So my standards are very high. My sister Pea, and her husband, Big Mike highly recommended this restaurant. Located on Navy Blvd, it's located what appears to be a home that was renovated to be a restaurant. Restaurant is small, but clean. Cute decor and a bar. They offer free chips and salsa. The chips were obviously freshly made with a dusting of spices. The salsa was fresh and flavorful and not too spicy, which suits me as I can't take a lot of heat, but for those who want more heat they may offer a hotter choice. We also had Queso and it too was gooey and rich. We had Steak Fajitas, Carne Asada street tacos, Supreme enchiladas and beef enchiladas, charro beans and rice. The Margaritas were delicious, although not very strong. Service was prompt and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. Very different Mexican cuisine from what I'm used to in Colorado, but yummy nonetheless. Highly recommend.

The West Side has finally gained a top-notch Mexican restaurant. The dishes were expertly prepared. The Margaritas are truly delightful! I even stopped by the Store nextdoor and was delightfully pleased.

    Tamale, chile relleno combo plate

Excellent! Great food! Great service! Whole family loved it! Even my picky kid said the birria tacos were fantastic! Definitely go!

chips & salsa, 2 for 1 margaritas! yeah! Ole! Ole!

You can tell he genuinely knows the menu and wants his guests to have a great experience. As for the food, the miso scallops are an absolute must and, hands down, my favorite thing on the menu! My boyfriend always gets a steak, and they are consistently cooked to perfection. Definitely make sure to try the salmon crudo and oysters as well- they're both delicious. Where do I even begin?…read more We had our wedding at Garden & Grain this weekend and it was absolutely flawless. I have to start with the most important parts of our day which were Cara & Jadyn, our event coordinators and Nick & Jesse, our bartenders. Cara and Jadyn were literal earth-movers and magic makers. These two helped us get everything decorated and torn down with absolute ease (and we had an awful lot of decor we brought in.) By the time we moved into the ceremony, Jadyn was everywhere ensuring we started when we were ready, the guests were ready for us to enter, and just made us feel so at ease. We heard from so many guests that they didn't even realize the chairs got moved from the garden into the grainhouse between because it was so fast and flawlessly executed. These folks were so stealthy bringing 75 chairs between different spaces. Bravo. Our caterer was just arriving as we were about the walk the aisle. We had no idea the chaos that was ensuing behind the scenes that Jadyn and the team worked out as quickly as possible and without our guests even recognizing there was a delay in the start time of the food service. Obviously catering is a huge part of the day, and it would have been so stressful had we realized they were 30+ minutes behind. The execution of our wedding could not have happened flat out without these two wonderful people. We are so grateful for you both, Cara and Jadyn. You deserve all the praise in the world and are absolutely amazing event coordinators. Oh, and Jadyn, thanks for never letting us have a drink less than half full - your impeccable attention to detail is what every event coordinator should strive for. Now, the other critical aspect to a wedding is bar service. Nick and Jesse had those drinks flowing non stop all night. There was never a guest waiting in line or without a drink from before the ceremony to last moments. Our guests were complimenting all night on how amazing the bar service was. We are a family with one side from New Orleans, we know how to party and going into it with 2 bartenders for 75 people who know how to have a good time was an anxiety for us, but there was not a single mishap in the bar service and we couldn't have asked for a better experience for our guests or us. Not to mention, every time I looked at Nick or Jesse, they were both smiling and so happy to be there with us - it meant a lot to feel like your vendors were a part of your wedding. The space lent itself so naturally to our ceremony and reception. It was beautiful, cozy, clean, and just 100% our vibe. Our guests also complimented all night on what a cool venue we had. If you're thinking about booking an event, particularly a wedding here, don't hesitate. There's not a dang thing I would change about Garden & Grain, Perfect Plain and the people they had assisting us and our guests throughout the event. Being able to look back and see how smoothly things ran is every Bride's dream, and without a doubt you will have the same experience that we did here. Thank you G & G/Perfect Plain/Perennial Hospitality for the amazing experience on our wedding date. You have no idea what this meant to us. It means even more to feel that you guys actually enjoyed being there with us. Pat yourselves on the back and know that you are shining examples of what a wedding venue is supposed to operate like. Cheers to you guys, thank you once again for everything!

We started with the fried green tomatoes. Amazing. We've been on a .mission to find the best Fried Green Tomatoes and these might just be the tops in the south! They came out piping hot, crispy (not soggy) on the outside, firm green tomatoes on the inside. The microgreens, balsamic drizzle with dollop of goat cheese elevated this dish even further. The blackened Mahi fish tacos were so incredibly flavorful and fresh. I loved that everything is fresh and made in-house. The shells, the mango salsa, the chipotle sauce and the blackened Mahi were all so fresh and worked so well together. My family got the margarita flatbread pizza and caprese salad. The flatbread pizza was crispy, light and fresh. The caprese came with a wonderful pesto that accompanied the garden ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and balsamic. The service was a little swamped (stressed) as they were super busy during a weekday lunch. However, they were hustling and working hard to serve us... so can't really complain.
