Flew in late Sunday and needed a place to have a bite to eat. Always love Mexican and Taquilo's had some great reviews, was close and open making it the perfect choice. A little place in old downtown with additional seating outdoors. I sat at the bar hoping to also watch the ball game; had a few tv's but actual ability to see the was challenging. My server was great, prompt and was helpful in customizing my order to meet what I wanted. Immediately got some chips and hot sauce out but had to leave the bar to get my Diet Coke. Overall this place had a worn feel to it and not as neat and clean as you would like. The bar itself is not set up very functionally and appeared to be more for storage. Back to the food, salsa was okay, a little bit of spice but not much body. They also served a cream type but I did not try that. My main dish was a grilled steak and chicken burrito with cheese sauce and sides of rice and charro beans. Overall this was again okay, loved the beans, rice was good but the burrito meat was to salty and the cheese sauce was more like ball park nacho rather than a queso. Outdoor tables gave a great view of the street activity. Warm chips and their own "secret recipe" salsa and cream sauce were so good I asked for the recipe! Best dish we had was the tamales! Went to Taquilo's for lunch today. Everything was incredible...service, atmosphere and food! First out were the fresh HOT chips with two dipping choices. The traditional salsa was anything but standard. The cool creamy cilantro dip was out of this world. Instead of an entree, I opted for the Taquilo's Chicken Besos....Bacon wrapped gloried chicken bites nestled on a bed of grilled onions with a lime butter dipping sauce. The hubs had the Pollo Poblano ....chicken and cheese stuffed poblano pepper covered with chili gravy and pico. It was served with corn infused mexican rice with outstanding charro beans. This place sucks. Wanted a fajita salad with no beans. They made a big deal about it saying that it was the only thing that you can't get with beans. Really? You just slap on the beans or not. My chips were all crumbs. Finally got my salad which was a plate of shredded lettuce and a few fajita pieces and olives. Never will be back as I'm a local. Today we decided to try a place we have never tried before. We were not disappointed at all. The barracho beans were some of the best I have had and usually I don't like the rice but it was good too. I had the Baja Blackened shrimp tacos with pineapple salsa. The shrimp were cooked to perfection. Jason had the fiesta plate. It had a chicken tinga crunchy taco (amazing), beef tamale (amazing) and cheese enchilada, beans and rice. We will definitely be back soon. read more

So we checked this colorful corner place out Sunday 4/30/17, very clean, super location, friendly folks! Nice window tables and seating outside too. We split the beef fajita nachos and they were delicious! Big chips, evenly covered with refried beans, cheese and tender, well seasoned beef fajita meat. We'd get those again for sure. Ample helping of fresh and pickled jalapenos, sour cream and guacamole comes with the order for $10 I think it was. We(umm I) also ordered al fresco guacamole, also known elsewhere as table guac although they don't make it at the table and it was good, better than the portion that came with the nachos. The regular size is really a small portion but then again I'm a glutton for guacamole. They have lotso tequila drinks as the name suggests but I was opted for a delicious and generous mimosa. To quote a song, "Tequila makes my clothes fall off" and it was early afternoon ... but when I go back, I'll have one. I was impressed the owner was there, walking around and asking if the food was good. Oh and they had an awesome sea salt hand wash in the ladies room, loved it! Try it, you'll like it! My SO, friend and I decided to try this place this past Saturday evening. It was surprisingly not completely packed, despite the fact that it was biker rally weekend. Ian was our waiter, he was super attentive and friendly. He did an awesome job all around! We all ordered margaritas (SO and I got the gran mayor and our friend got a watermelon marg). The gran mayor was awesome! We would definitely order it again. I would've kept drinking them had I stayed there longer :-) We started off with a queso which was really good! The salsa was warm and fresh, not much spice but still tasty. I happen to enjoy warm salsa. The green sauce was yum! We all ordered quesadillas. I got chicken fajita, he got beef fajita and she got cheese. It was plenty of food, I could only eat two pieces and it came with like 8 with sour cream, guacamole and pico. My friend and I honestly should've split one cause it's so much food. Only reason for 4 stars is the quesadillas were skimping on meat. We enjoyed everything here and bringing Mexican to that area is a great idea since there's no other Mexican food right in the vicinity. read more

I went three years ago and the food was good. The nachos were authentic. Hot sauces were on point. Alcoholic drinks were amazing . I came last weekend service was still great but the food was absolutely disgusting . I still paid and tip because people have to make a living but they really lost that authentic Mexican food touch . The meat taste like they use preseasoned packets and they use cheap ground beef for their very thin chip nachos :( and the alcoholic drinks were all syrup and no good stuff not even a hint of alcohol. First time in on a Saturday night, kinda busy, but not what I expected, we were seated quickly but server was not responsive, had to contact mgr to get a drink order in, received half of drink order, had to ask what happened to the other drink.
