This is MY Target! Good location, great selection of merchandise, helpful staff, and it's big enough to not make you want to kill fellow shoppers even when it is busy. My only complaint is with the pharmacy. I set up my monthly prespcription auto-refill at least 3 separate times. Every time I come in to pick up my 'scrip they look at me like I'm not speaking English. Maybe they aren't speaking English? I don't know. It's weird. How many times do I have to set up the auto-refill? Maybe the third time is the charm. read more

I went shopping last minute before meeting a friend (I just need a couple things...) and kicked myself when I waited in line. No worries, Amir, the cashier, was on it and he was quick. Unfortunately the guy ahead of me was being a total jerk holding up everyone. When Amir politely asked for the guys ID, he had a temper tantrum."I've been coming here for years... This is ridiculous!" Ugh, god hurry up dude, you're not the only one in line. But Amir was on it, he didn't argue or explain, he simply called the manager who kindly informed to mr grouch "some over the counter medicines require an ID to be swiped at the register." The guy finally handed his ID and everyone could move on with their lives. God, if only I could rate customers. Doesn't matter, Amir handled the awkward situation professionally. Bathroom is pretty clean, there are employees who actually ask if they can help you rather than run the other way, everything is organized, and the check out is fast. It's a better Target than most. It's cool that it's a double decker, too. I've always wondered why more huge department stores don't go for the two stories. It's way more efficient, which means more room for all the cars that flock to it. This Target has more stuff than other Targets, or at least compared to the Richmond Target. I love Target. There, I said it...again. I come here whenever I can beg someone to take me (typically my boyfriend) and I always end up spending way too much time and too much money on things. I swear the last time I went, I wanted to get a mirror and I ended up getting a WHOLE cart full of things. The cart escalator - awesome. I remember the first time I came in and I was FREAKING AMAZED by it. The Target that I went to before (which was rare by the way) was only one floor and kind of old. I love the wide variety of just random stuff I can get here, but the only problem with this store is the route going back to Berkeley. Yes, you can take the freeway, but the entrance to the freeway is the exact same way back if you take San Pablo and Gilman I think? That turn sucks. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then...okay. But going back home it's just hard to make those turns especially with someone like me...who NEVER EVER drives in NorCal. This Target is HUGE! I don't know if it's just my part of SoCal, but I'm definitely not used to such a large Target. It's two floors! And surprisingly, with all that space, it's still pretty well organized. All the home & furnishing items are upstairs, with more of the standard grocery list items (cleaning supplies, make up, actual groceries, clothes, etc.) downstairs, making everything very convenient. I also ADORE the cutesy/random items upstairs that may or may not be part of a partnership with Fred Flare. From "Chill Pill" ice trays to Ninja Bread Men cookie cutters, all of the quirky home furnishings completely stole my heart. It was all I could do to save my wallet! But the final cherry on top? The cart escalator! I've NEVER seen an escalator made for shopping carts, so I was seriously in awe for 5 straight minutes. Genius. read more

I've run the gamete with this Target. I've learned you can bargain in the electronics department for competitive pricing on TVs. We also bought our bikes here, and mostly everything else. Also this is the first place I was introduced to the amazing world that is cart escalators!!! It's the little things in life :) I used to love shopping in the clothing department until one older worker called me a name to her co-worker in Spanish and I could understand the whole thing (the manager was very apologetic and gave me a discount). Well, this is a Target. In case you didn't know. I think I, like some other reviewers here, feel a little strange about writing a review for a Target. I've been to more than half a dozen different locations all over the country for various reasons and I've never really fallen in love but I've also never really despised an experience so much that I've refused to return, right? So here goes. This location is BIG. My boyfriend had never seen an escalator for carts before coming to this Target. Two floors of aisle upon aisle upon aisle of clothes, food, toys, stationary, toiletries, electronics, furniture, gifts, decorations... goodness. What can I say? It's a Target. Parking lot is big, big, big. Good! It matches the size of the store. Employees I've encountered have been helpful. I bought a pair of boots a few weeks ago and realized upon arriving home they were a size too big, so I went back to exchange them. The man at the customer service desk first did a search through the computer system to make sure they had the new sizes I was looking for, then gave me a refund and sent me on my way. Nice! Efficient, and exactly what I needed. Bought new boots and was happy as a... person with well-fitting new boots. I have to admit that Target carries a brand of clothes/shoes that I've kind of sort of fallen in love with over the past many years. Mossimo creates really stylish accessories and outfits and, if you haven't heard it enough from my review, IT'S TARGET, so it's at a good price. What else can I say about this Target? It's a Target. Update. This Target has gone down. ..hard. First, they eliminated almost all of their plus-size clothes, which is insulting considering that there were a lot of women in the store who were nowhere near a size 8. The store looks way junkier than previously. It looks like someone threw up their hands and said, "F* it." The lack of plus-size clothes was a huge reason for me to dump my weekly visits to Target. The clothes at least made the torture of screaming kids partially tolerable, but now is just torture. Peace out Target and fire your CEO for insulting a large part of your demographic. read more

I plan trips here, at least 2 hours. I don't think I've ever gotten out of here sooner. This Target is far superior than the other one closest to me in Albany: bigger, separate greenhouse, larger selection, cleaner, newer, the shopping cart escalator (It's *still* fun loading my shopping cart onto its own companion escalator) and better food selection. Seriously, I swear by Target's Archer Farms food items, notably their various flavors of oatmeal, teas, mineral water, trail mix and granola clusters; favorite is the dried mango and chili powder granola cluster.. this is soooo sooo good and decidedly addictive. I haven't been brave enough to try any of their shelf-life or frozen food entrees. Please. I *still* get excited by the shopping cart escalator. read more

This is just for the CVS pharmacy in this location. If you call about a med your doc prescribed to start today, that this CVS doesn't have in stock, don't expect any help from Jessica at the pharmacy. She'll tell you to call around to other CVS yourself to transfer the Rx to the new pharmacy and that she's "too swamped" to call and she "close in two hours, so I don't know what to tell you". All with a healthy dose of attitude. For perspective, I called the CVS at the Emeryville Target and the pharmacy staff was the complete opposite of Jessica - they are competent and friendly. read more

There are 3 Targets between home and work - the Albany Target is my preferred store. Even though the emeryville-Oakland is closer to home I prefer to go the extra mile. Albany Target has ample parking space, 2 floors of stuff and courteous staff members. A Target is a Target, you say?! I beg to differ. If you ever find yourself in the Tanforan target, head for the hills cuz that one is an imposter. It always seems that Albany Target has a wider array of goods and wares. It's always organised, well-stocked and pleasantly less busier than emeryville Target. read more

This place is so great. I come once or twice a week. Over half the stuff in my apartment is from there, including groceries, clothes, appliances. Their selection of pills and creams bring out the hypochondriac in me. They're also very close to my apartment! That's always a plus. They sell a lot of Morningstar and Amy's frozen foods at really low prices. I got Morningstar veggie sausage patties for about $2.99, instead of $4.99 at the traditional cheap stores like Safeway and Lucky. Their groceries are really cheap and the brands are really good (stuff you'd actually eat, not a bunch of questionable food). I'd give this place 5 stars, if it weren't for a few things. This particular Target is HOT. Heat hot. Even in the middle of summer, they run their heater. I can't stay in there too long, so if I need to stock up, I go to the Target in Richmond. Leaving the parking lot can be a bit confusing if you're not familiar w/ it. If you want to turn right, you still need to get into the left lane as you exit the main lot. You have to follow the signs painted on the road. I've almost gotten sideswiped twice. I've tried the other lane, and almost sideswiped someone. A general Target complaint: Their new Up-and-Up brand isn't the same on a few things. I found the perfect hand soap that I wasn't allergic to, and they switched it w/ the new brand. Some (lady) items tear apart. Now I have to go out and find new products to replace things that have been a favorite for years. read more

I fear that this has become a bad relationship. A relationship based on TARGET taking exactly what he wants and casually ignoring all those things that really matter to, erm... the CUSTOMER. ...And a friend who bullies us is no longer a friend. And since bullies only respond to strength, from now onward, I will be prepared to be much stronger. And THIS TARGET should be prepared for that." I tried using my Internet coupons here, and the cashier had some trouble scanning and called over the manager. This is how our convo went: MANAGER: We don't accept Internet coupons, but I will take it this one time. ME: Since when? I've used them here before. MGR: Since always. Since I've been here 5 years. ME: Um...ok.... I didn't want to pursue the issue any further in fear she would revoke all my discounts. I later called corporate and told them and they said they would talk to her...yeah right. I'll come here again but only because it's one of the closer and more convenient Targets. So sad, because every other location I've been to has been spectacular about accepting my coupons. Target is the shit. Period. I needed a punch bowl. Target has at it. I needed tissue paper, a birthday card, gift bags, a new bra, tampons, workout pants, cheetos, and some kleenex. Target has all of this. I always spend too much at Target, but consumerism just doesn't get better than this! And, it's crazy, but Isaac Mizrahi and Mossimo have really been making pretty cute items of clothing of late. And they're not ginormous either. They have XS to fit petite girls like me, and everything is so cheap comparatively (where else can you get a blazer for $30?). OMG. AND, this Target has a decent nursery too! If I had to shop at Target for everything for the rest of my life, I honestly wouldn't complain at all. I'm generally a fan of this Target, especially the RAD CART CONVEYER BELT, however, I'm dismayed that the women's plus size clothing section at this location has been shrinking and shrinking as the months go by. Once, this was a glorious plus-sized section, with all of the cool skirts and dresses that you see online beckoning from the racks. Now, the section's tiny corner has dwindled, and it's not even marked (No one puts baby in a corner! And doesn't mark her!), and there's only a smattering of scattered v-neck shirts and bad bathing suits to be found. There's been months of this, they weren't just having an off day when I visited. I'm convinced there's some fatphobic manager who is trying to shame the fat girls out of patronizing this store, or they're trying to further yuppify it by giving us less and less (everyone knows fat people aren't rich). But seriously--the sad, small San Leandro Target has a better plus-sized section than this one does now. Woe. read more

I love this Target too. About every 6 weeks or so, B-friend and I make the drive over and stock up on all kinds of goodies. The place is always really clean and the parking lot is huge. This is really one of the best Targets I've ever been too. Granted, I only have east coast Targets to compare too, but still. The two floors are immaculate, the shelves are stocked and organized, and it's HUUUUUGE. Gentlemen, sometimes size does matter. They have a typically sized and stocked dollar section, but disappointingly lacking clearance/sale women's clothing section. Why on earth do I forget about this target!! I only pass up one when i go here but I always seem to find better deals at this location and more of a selection. The only downfall was when I was there this past Monday it didn't seem overcrowded but when it came to leaving and purchasing my items boy oh boy! There were lines everywhere and there was maybe 2 lines that had customers but light wasn't on so I didn't want to get disappointed by getting in this line and being told oh I'm closed so I stayed behind this man who had 2 items who was later followed by a woman with a cart full of stuff. And I just stood there with my 1 item as she almost ran me over with her cart because I guess she couldn't really speak to say excuse me. I wished they had a self checkout line or even an express lane open. It would've made my visit much better. I mean I get it, it was a holiday but they had normal business hours so it should have normal amount of employees available especially with others apparantly being off as well. So my rating is mainly on my conclusion of my trip. Everyone was nice in the store. (employees that is) And the departments I did go to was neat and clean. read more

Hey folks! This location recently extended their weekday closing time to 11 p.m. On Sunday it's now 10 p.m. Sweet. In addition to the best hours of any Target in town, this location has the best staff, best interior layout and the coolest exterior design with sleek, corrugated metal siding and super-duper Target emblems. The only downside is that I go way off target from my shopping list when I come here... a recent trip for paper plates and dove soap, for example, turned into a $200 spending spree on stuff such as a hot side table and a really cute doggie bed. There were 1000 people there this morning and when we had gathered all of our items and were checking out, the checker checked us through and bagged like 1/4 of our stuff and simply started checking the next person with our stuff still all over the counter. Since silly Berkeley won't allow any major corporate retailers within it's city limits (and also threatens to kick out US Marine offices, welcome to the land of the free), the nearest Target is in Albany, right across the tracks near the 580/80 intersection (you can see it like a manna in the wilderness on the highway). This was the first place I visited to get much-needed dorm goods when I first moved to California. I remember I took a picture on my cell phone of the giant, 2-story Target logo standing proudly behind plush palm trees while overlooking the Bay. Ahhh... This Target is really a great location. Lots and lots of parking, 2-story's of everything but groceries, really, clean restrooms, cafe and Starbucks, lots of open registers, and even a great Pharmacy. And if you want to extend some extra fun to the kids, have them get their shopping carts up the CART escalator! Too fun! I love this Target and am grateful it REPRESENTS in the otherwise wilderness of Berkeley corporate. read more

As a big target clothing fan, this is my favorite target because they have unsupervised changing rooms. There's no need to constantly check stuff in and out as you're going through the changing room. Just go in and out as you please. This also speaks volume about the cleanliness about the target as a whole since they trust their customers here enough that they won't steal clothing in the changing rooms. The aisles aren't as wide as the one on hesperian blvd, but that just means they pack more stuff in - they've got two floors as well. read more

The location for this particular target is unbeatable. Anytime anything is conveniently located right off the freeway it's a win. Target has been my all time favorite in the superstore category ever since I was a kid. I have found memories of my mom ushering my sis and me into the car for a TARGET trip. We would show up eagerly anticipating our orders of Icee and cheap pizza before embarking on a shopping adventure. I would walk around the clothing department running my hands through all the shirts hanging from the racks, while my sis would follow behind me doing the same thing. Walmart and Kmart might be cheaper, but who has the cooler logo? Who has the better tv ads? Who has the better employee outfits? Which store is more organized? I rest my case. This target is legendary for the escalator for shopping carts. I remember in college my friend ran up to me completely out of breath to deliver this piece of news to me. I had to see it with my own eyes though. After college I moved to emeryville and have been making weekly trips to this target ever since. Now target sells produce and I can't attest to the quality of the produce, but good for them. Way to expand! Lastly, there will be a brand new target opening in Emeryville very soon. It looks great and I'm happy for it, but unless it has an escalator for shopping carts it won't trump this one. read more

Much better than the Oakland/Emeryville Target. Not as crazy busy and the store is a little bit newer, but after all a target is a target haha. I do have to say that the main reason I love this Target is the two floors. They have basically taken everything that I didn't want to go through at Target and moved it upstairs. All your home goods, random clothes, and furniture are all upstairs and out of the way. I like it because it saves me the time of getting distracted and buying more things because I don't even venture upstairs. Do NOT use Target for your baby registry - particularly if you shop at the Albany store. They refuse to return items if it is more than 90 days from your expected due date! Silly us we didn't think to try the Baby Bjorn on until we needed it and that was two weeks past that time frame. Went one time to the store where they refused to help us. Then went home and emailed the online department who assured us it would be fine, just take it back down and show them the purchase log from the registry. But, you guessed it, when we get back to the store they not only refused, but the manager was positively rude about it. And when we called the online department from the store? They denied every saying we could return it. Even though we're all looking at the email that said just that. There are a lot of good registries out there. Best kept secret for hella-stylin' clothes for guys? The Target women's section. Seriously, I've scored a multiple awesome jackets, hoodies, hats and other miscellaneous accouterments here. The men's section seems to be dominated by lumpy looking midwestern crap that looks like it has been recycled from the 90s. Where the men's S (if it exists), is designed to fit a "small" football player. The women's section on the other hand seems to have a much better pulse on hip. Fashion has gotten androgynous enough that plenty of the stuff here works irrespective of your gender sensibilty (which was outmoded to begin with). And the sizes are better suited for my smallish frame anyway. Why - I just picked up this sweet patterned hoodie with birds and skulls and keys and anchors and shit. read more

THIS TARGET HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED. I was once throwing a bachelor party for my boy Turnlo and they had all the Fabreze and canned nacho cheese we needed to kick that thing off. The marriage later ended when he found out that the oversized stuffed bear his wife had in their room was actually her original husband watching them consummate the marriage in some sort of sick and twisted macho head game, but you would be a fool to blame that on Target! My nephew Dwayne once snuck away from home and attempted to live in the home goods section of this target. He only made it 1 hour after closing when an employee found him gorging himself on Easter themed Bunny "Peeps". Where he got the Peeps is still a mystery, as it was late August and the store hadn't carried those specific peeps in years. read more

Wow!! Super, super nice! This Target on Albany is definitely the nicest, best Target I've ever been to. A weird layout that is different than most Targets I've been to, but overall, it was easy to find what I needed and the customer service! Wow! At most Targets, I find most employees don't actually serve customers. They are usually nowhere to be found, are texting, or you have to hound them down and really get their attention to get help which is ridiculous. The customer service at most Targets is non-existent, hut at this one, their customer service is SUPERB!! At this Target, when I was at hair care trying to find a product, a very kind woman asked me if I needed help and she helped me out! She was so nice and she was so helpful. Not only did she check on me once but she asked if I needed help another time. Wow!! This has never happened to me at any Target I have been to. Amazing! The employees there are very visible, aware of their surroundings and are always happily helping customers! This is what customer service should be but unfortunately most Targets and most stores in general do not have this high standard. This is definitely the only Target I want to go to! Excellent Target! They have a large selection of products and at reasonable prices. They also like all Targets have the cutest and most useful travel-size products! Usually I never see travel size Shea Moisture products and other hair care products, especially black hair care products which was amazing! They had a great selection of black hair care products!! Yes!! Thank The Lord!! I was so happy to see this and overall, it is a great Target! This is a new Target, so it has a really nice modern design, it has a massive parking lot that has a walkway for pedestrians (yes!), and the facade is beautiful! The Albany Target has a HUGE selection and comes equipped with its very own cart escalator. There are many reasons to shop here: tons of items to choose from, friendly service, value prices, close to freeway, large parking lot...you get the picture. This one-stop-shop will meet most, if not all, of your shopping needs. While you're there, go ahead and pick up some extra toothpaste and toilet paper. As much as I have a love-hate relationship with Target, this store, half way between my work and house, usually delivers. They have everything at the standard prices and a really good selection. They are also clean, organized, not too crowded, and usually have decent service. Given that all Targets are essentially the same, I knew that I would be able to impulsively buy a new swimsuit here yesterday - having seen a new display at the Richmond store two weeks ago. And so I eat my words from my previous Richmond review, "who ever buys a bikini in January" ... Apparently I do ... The Target marketing gods succeeded in infiltrating my sub-conscience. Although I have to give this store credit for not having the display by the front door. And thankfully no one mocked me for my purchase - I'll leave that to myself! This is my absolute favorite Target location in the surrounding Bay Area. I frequent either this Target or the one in Alameda. From the outside, there's a large Garden Center to the left side for those of you who have a green thumb. Upon entrance, there's customer service to your right and a Starbucks at the front of the store to our left. This Starbucks has open seating with tables for those who don't feel like shopping:) Target Albany is always well stocked, the dollar spot usually has many things in stock that other stores run out of (sticky notes, tumblers, etc.) I love how they have two levels - this store is truly HUGE! There's an option to take the elevator up to the second level or you can take the escalator and they even have an escalator for your cart! Upstairs is men, home, children's, books, music, and electronics. Parking is plenty, there's a huge lot. No need to speed through looking for a spot - you will find one. Customer service is on point here, I never have to wait in long, long, lines because so many registers are open. This is MY favorite Target location. read more
