It brings me no joy to update this review and keep the 2 star rating. I love Target, in general, and this one is closer than any other location, so I will likely return over and over. Even so, the experience is largely inconvenient. Staffing issues persist, usually with barely anyone working on the floor at all to answer questions (I gave up on this awhile ago and now don't ask anything when I shop there unless I'm at a register). The pickup section is overall inefficient, though the people working there are still friendly. There is a pretty good variety here, nonetheless, so if you aren't in a hurry and know where to get stuff, you'll be good to go! read more

I have always loved Target. It is easy to shop the aisles and I know them by heart. Today I went in to purchase some eye shadow and small hair items and of course check the clearance rack. When did Target get so expensive? Why does Target carry such expensive make up and skin care products. It seems as though all fair value products and lower priced products have been replaced by high end products and the cost of shopping there is as costly as some of the higher end makeup and skincare shops. Additionally the CLEARANCE aisle, which used to be fun and so inexpensive to find great buys, is an aisle of left over product from a season change, and priced a few dollars below original price. Yes, tariffs and inflation has increased the costs of products however Target does not seem to absorb any of these increases. Come on Target be a community member and take some of the hurt out of shopping! read more

I usually shop at another Target closer to where I live, but I was in Highland Park on Wednesday 4/20, and decided to stop in. I placed an order via the app for in store pickup, and Ian had everything ready for me when I arrived. I forgot to order a couple of things, and everything I needed was on the shelves, and Stacie, my cashier, was excellent. I will definitely stop by again if I am in the area. I did a store pickup here, as it was the only Target in a 45-minute radius that had the TV I wanted in stock after my previous TV decided to spontaneously break. I had never been to this particular location before, but it looks to be quite large (at least from what I could tell while waiting for the order to be brought up to the service desk). I got here right when they opened and the employees were quick and courteous and asked if I needed help carrying it to my car. There's also a Tesla supercharging station out front, for all you Tesla drivers out there. Parking lot is decent as well, and the location right off the highway is nice, but does make getting out of the store parking lot a little more complicated because of traffic. It's pretty far from me so I don't know if I would come here on any sort of regular basis, but if I'm in the area or if I need a specific thing, it's solid. read more

I visited this location on 8/1. There was absolutely no soap in the bathroom. The soap dispensers were dry and the hand soap that an associate must have put on the shelves had no tops and a little water at the bottom. I presume it was because other guests were left to try and mix water with the remaining soap to just wash their hands. Then, to make matters somehow worse, every hand sanitizer dispenser was bone dry. This means that this store is frigging filthy with crap germs. Makes you feel good about getting producer, right? Just knowing that somebody did their business, wiped themselves, and then were left on their own? To make matters worse when I asked an associate to get a manger I was left waiting in store. I tried to call both yesterday and today and the phone just keeps ringing. There are other Target stores, until this one rights the ship I would stay away. read more

Shelves are often messy or empty. Bathrooms are very unclean. Parking lot not well lit. I'd prefer the target in Glenview every time.

I have to preface this with the fact I am comparing my Target with my experience in Chula Vista, CA (San Diego area). This store is cleaner beyond comparison. Products and labels were organized properly. Coming from a place where products were scattered throughout the store, this was a great change. Writing on 2 experiences. First, everything is organized well in the store. The staff is pretty helpful and will move to the aside while they are stocking if you having to get through. Having staff that's aware of their surroundings is nice. Random complaint, the selection in the chip aisle is rather limited. I was craving and this target did not have many options in flavor variety. I did realize the flavors that are available at Target in SD are not available at this store. Random, I know! Did I mention the store is really clean? I appreciated that. 2nd experience: I ordered target pick-up. Ended up doing drive up option through the app. It was an ok experience purchasing on the laptop then having to change to "drive up" option on the app was just ONE extra leap to take. Why can't we just have the drive up option available to select while we are doing using the desktop version of the website? Curious. Why the extra hoops? Beyond the technical experience, the staff, who delivered the groceries, was so pleasant. Extra friendly, even my husband was impressed. He's not easily impressed. Tough crowd. So this store gets points for having friendly and surrounding awareness staff. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this Target. I love that it's nearby. I love walking the isles -- even if there is a larger one in Vernon Hills. I love being able to pop in quickly and get something. What I hate is that too often I find they are out of stock of something. I can can 9/10 items but that last one they don't have! It's maddening. I don't know if their buying manger isn't keeping up properly with stock or if their suppliers can keep up, but it seems to happen more often at this particular store. read more

Since I live in a community that tends to hoard absolutely everything, we're left finding ourselves having to still go out looking for some basic food items and essentials--like simple canned goods and cleaning supplies like dish soap! Last night, 20 minutes to close, we popped in when the parking lot was practically empty and only a handful of people in the store. Of course going at the end of the day didn't help our cause, because Target was out of a bunch of the essentials as well. We were able to scoop up dish soap, Tums, some towels, and garbanzo beans (needing that protein). This store was pretty useless to us. 5 stars for the cashier who had the best sense of humor in a really trying time. Here's what we learned from the cashier. Toilet paper is sold out by 10am every day (we weren't searching for that) and non-seniors are pushing their way in on senior morning (so seniors should really stay away). Of course on the hunt for some chocolate, we went to the Easter aisle. Everything as ridiculously overpriced and well-stocked. We didn't buy anything. Shop at Target for cleaning supplies and socks, but not for anything else. read more

The last two orders I placed for pick up had expired food items. The last order had 4! One was almost 2 months expired! I called multiple times yesterday just to let them know, so they could take the items off the shelves (I placed a return order online and provided pictures) but no one ever picked up! At 3 different times & I let it ring until the system hung up on me. The employees that are picking these orders should make sure the items are not expired. Before anyone says anything, I'm disabled and high risk so it has not been safe for me to be in public during the pandemic. read more

The Target in Highland Park is terrible. They have a line for order pickup but none of them actually pay attention to it. They literally stare at us and forget that the line is for order pickup. Apparently they rather just do returns than help customers who already paid. The service is sooo bad that a lady had to ask Asset Protection for help with their order pick up. It's laughable. I called to ask HR for help and they hung up on me. This target is the drizzling shits. Avoid like the plague. read more

Shout out to Jamie. She speedshopped through the store to get the remaining items I needed to get my daughter who was in the hospital. I'm from out of state and had never been in the area before-and this Target was set up totally different than the ones I've been in. I got sleep pants, a t-shirt, a sports bra and a plush blanket with her help. On the other hand, I spent more time looking for a charging cord and block in electronics- the fella in that department needs some additional Geek training. Then at the self-checkout, the employee there-name I didn't get-asked if I found everything, so I briefly told her about my shopping spree with Jamie, and she said, "let's get you outta here" and packed my bags for me. WARNING! Don't buy Visa gift cards at Target. I received two such cards on the same day. They were purchased at the same Target on the same day. When I opened the sealed cardboard envelopes, I discovered that they had been used. (A hacker) After dozens of calls, emails, documents, I was notified that only one card would be replaced. The other was declined???? I am supposed to register the replacement card at this number in the photo below. See what happens when you call! Then try going online to the website. In order to register, you have to install an addon, which changes other computer features. We used to laugh that if you don't like the parents, give the child a goldfish. After over a year of shopping here from time to time, I feel the Highland Park Target store deserves being bumped up from 3 start to 4 stars. The management and staff have done a great job improving most of my previous concerns I had when shopping here. Their grocery section is where the biggest improvements were made. The variety of food and household goods has nearly doubled, maintaining fair prices. Their selection of fresh foods is way better than before; covering all of the basics you expect from a full grocery store, and also offering several unique items that I haven't seen elsewhere. Their frozen foods selections rivals all of the dedicated grocery stores in the area. Their shelf-stable selection isn't as vast as dedicated grocery stores, but they have most of the essentials. Although their wine and spirits selection is smaller than many other stores, their small selection is well-curated. Target's house brands also shine, as it's all top-quality and priced well. One concern I've had is that several of their bread items on the shelf have been very close to their expiration. I've never seen anything past their date, but within 5 days. Most of their fruits and vegetables lasted a little longer than the local Jewel, but didn't seem as fresh as the local Woodman's, Trader Joe's, or Whole Foods. I may still pick up the odd baked item or bit of produce as I need them, but I'll probably do my primary shopping for fresh goods elsewhere. Their selection of their general goods have always been reasonably decent, and has since improved with most sections being enhanced. Aisles seem to have a bigger variety, and have been optimized to include more merchandise without looking cluttered (differentiating it from Walmart). They've enhanced their electronics section, and - every time I've been there - is well staffed. I've never had problems finding a staff member to help unlock something from a case, or answer a question. The entire store layout was changed a while back, and it seemed to need further optimization. As of the last three or four months, I think they've really nailed the layout. It is now much easier to navigate through the store, as each major section is surrounded by major arterial-aisles. Each section is in a logical spot, and easy to see from most corners. Target has always been one of the cleanest of the "superstores," and the streak continues. The store is always immaculate, brightly lit, and well-stocked. Staff are always friendly, courteous, and their check-out lines are fast. I'm happy to see the Highland Park Target store has improved. They are very conveniently located along the highway, with plenty of well-lit parking. In the past, I preferred driving out to Vernon Hills, Wheeling, or Buffalo Grove to do my shopping - the recent improvements made to the Highland Park Target store have convinced me to once-again shop here more often. read more

Just caught me off guard: Gold Bond Healing Moisturizer, $12.99 at Jewel, $7.99 at Target. Enough said. Staff is generally very helpful and the place always has a fresh feel, regardless of how busy the store's been. Interestingly, most everyone I know who's at Target , and loves the place as my wife and I do. We each have a Red Card which reduced the price by another 5%. Returns aren't an issue, and managers I've interested with are always some of the nicest people. I love there's a Starbucks within, and an surprised it's not always jammed. And the CVS "in Target" is another benefit. Sorry our Highland Park store, I love going into brick and mortar, and passing on Amazon when I can. Thanks Target! read more

I arrived early for my pick up. The store was closed. The cars in the parking lot were all parked close to the door (at least they were not in handicap spaces) the drivers were not waiting in them. Since it was 32 degrees outside and no one was standing outside the doors, this tells me the employees are taking the close parking spots. I find a problem with this. read more

I go to a lot of Target stores - it's usually easier as I can directly find what I need. Target stores are great for your basics. I've also been on a board game purchasing kick lately - I've purchased: The Golden Girls Trivia game, choose your own adventure game, Unstable Unicorns, and quite a few others. The great thing is that I was attending a game night party and able to get everything else I needed too - wine, dessert, etc. one stop shopping is the main reason I go to Target. This particular target is average, nothing spectacular about this location. There is a Starbucks attached, private parking, the same merchandise you'd find at any one of the locations. The store itself is clean, efficient, and well run. I generally find a lot of items I don't need but purchase anyway at all Target locations. read more

I am pretty disappointed. I bought some bagged produce and the check out girl didn't give me the discount. I have an original recipe but not the bag the produce came in. I'm sure I won't get that money back from customer service. In the past when I've tried to do a return without a recipe for an exchange or store credit I've been declined. This target is very big and has a vast selection. Almost always though there's no help if you're asking for a specific item or info, just a vague point to the direction of the department "if we have it it'll be there." Or "it might be written on the label." Finally I bought some wiper blades for my car and they only had one brand in my size (21?) and since day one they've left streaks and work lousy. At $40 for some non sophisticated equipment I'd expect better while they are new. read more

I will forever have a soft spot in my heart for this location - it was the very first Target I had ever been to. I thought I had died and gone to heaven seeing the cool housewares, the incredible furniture and the oh-so-hip clothing for the first time. Of course the first thing I did when Mother came to visit from New England was bring her here to show her how awesome it was. On that particular day though almost everything was out of stock due to a sale the previous weekend. She stuck her nose up and was none too impressed. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this Target before! This is the Target I set all standards by. They have a good selection of everything, whereas the Target where I live now has a good selection of nothing. Their prices are low, their clothes are cute and seasonal-- plus it's a great place to go for basics-- and their generic food brand is never disappointing! We went on a hunt for serving bowls for Thanksgiving and found the PERFECT options here: price-wise, aesthetic-wise, size-wise. Target got it right on point! read more

This target is large and has a nice sized home section which is my favorite section of the store to check out. This location is close to me work so I'm always able to come over on my lunch break. Today I went in to do an order pick up. They have to different lines. One for order pick up and one for returns/exchanges. There was one lady in the return/exchange line so I went into the order pick up line, mind you I had Larry's seasoning that I wanted to buy as well. There was only one lady behind the counter. After she was done helping the First Lady I was the only one left in line so she came over to the order pick up line to scan my barcode to get my items. When she got back I asked her if she could ring my purchase up and she said no. I'm not allowed to ring you up if there is a line. By the time she got back with my order there was someone in the return/exchange line, but mind you. I was the first customer up at the counter, which I reminded her of. She told me no you would have to get back in line to purchase. I think it is utterly ridiculous. So I had to walk all the way to the regular cash register just to buy one item. That's 2 separate lines I had to stand and wait in. She could have easily rung me up but she refused to. Once I was at the regular cashier she literally rung me up within seconds. Targets policy really needs to change as well as the attitudes of the women working behind the target customer service counter. Only at this target have I repeatedly experience less than good customer service at this counter. The size of the store is really nice and clean but the employees that work there really make this place suck, which is unfortunate. read more

Pretty disappointed in their order pickup. The price was different online vs in the store by $20. Asked for a refund and since I bought it with a gift card they said the needed the original gift card but I had to wait in the store for 15 minutes while a supervisor figured that out on the phone with corporate customer service. Why couldn't they just give me another gift card for the difference? So went home. Got the card and came back. They gave me $20 back on the card. I asked about the taxes and the said oh, you want that too. That's another $1.60 or so. Had to ask them to give me that too! 1 hour wasted because they aren't focusing on their customers. read more

Mark ( older man with glasses) is not someone who needs to be in guest services at all with his biased way of helping customers. I'm currently at the highland park target. I frequent this store often and have to ask for help sometimes. He was with a older white women when I walked over so I waiting for her transaction to be done. He proceeded to look at me then walk away while the ladies card us still being read. I stay by his stand since that's where he's stationary. He comes back and tells another customer (white) to come over. I ask why he couldn't help me. He ignores me after looking me straight in my eyes. Throughout the ordeal he never asked me what I needed help with. Just unwilling to help me. I ask can he radio for another employee to help me since he was clearly being racist. He refuses and I have to ask a employee that is actually busy with customers to help. Instead of someone being prejudiced and only helping people his color. I will mot be returning and will be telling all of my associates & client not to go to target anymore. This cooperation should be ashamed to have a employee act like this . read more

Exhibit B: I've been looking for this oatmeal-colored hoodie/scarf combination (yes, stand-alone) for several weeks now, but every store I've visited has been sold out of the cozy combo accessory. But this location? Yep, they had it in stock. Exhibit C: Acres (okay, maybe not acres) of sales racks. And not just any sales racks - I'm taking seemingly endless 75% off sales racks. In addition to the highly-coveted hoodie/scarf lovechild, I sourced a totally cute dress for under $7 on the clearance rack. And by totally cute, I mean the last one. Same as the other reviewers, sometimes this Chicagoan finds herself up North. I will stop at this Target. Also as the others noted, always easy parking and clean. All the standard Target stuff along with some groceries. However, they have a small but varied liquor selection, I was surprised to see some decent wine, a few good vodkas along side the economy brands and some champagne too. So if you're in a bind to pick up dinner and q-tips all in one stop and in the area, you can get it done here. Some pasta, Archer Farm's vodka sauce and a bottle of red. They even sell coffee and you can buy a coffee maker and some cookies for dessert. Now for the q-tips, well everyone needs q-tips. read more

This Target is a SUPER convenient location (and they're getting fresh grocery put in right now - cool). My beef with this Target is the constantly broken ATM. I think my attempts to withdraw money here are successful 20% of the time. Ridiculous! If you need an ATM, call first to make sure the damn thing is working. Although, sometimes the staff isn't even aware it isn't working until I show up. Either someone downloaded a Highland Park Target-only ATM killing virus on my bank card, or they need to pony up and get a new machine. read more

Seriously what is wrong with our Highland Park Target lately. The store is an absolute disaster area. I never can find anything I want. The prices are not listed on anything. The people who work the floor are the nastiest little old ladies I have ever encountered. I was trying on a blazer for my mother's funeral in front of a mirror that was placed out on the sales floor and this nasty sales woman gives me a dirty look and says "you no try on clothing there! You go to fitting room now". I was really shocked since that was why the mirrors were out in the first place and because she was so rude. I was already upset at the loss of my mother I did not care to bring blazers into an unmanaged fitting room where I get yelled at for covering the phone on the counter. The fitting rooms smell like feet, vomit and drool. The food choices in the grocery center have become few and what is available is mostly expired. The people at the registers are nice enough but the register belts are sticky and dirty. They just jam your purchase in the bag. Target needs a make over and attitude adjustment quick. read more

Last night I was in the store and purchased a few pants and a blouse. I got home only to find that the blouse didn't make it into the bags. I checked my receipt and was charged for it. Immediately, I called and spoke with someone in customer service. She was very hard to understand, but said all I needed to do is come in with the receipt and it would be taken care of. I asked her name before we hung up and didn't understand her. I didn't want to sound rude so I said thank you and hung up. Today, I sent my daughter to go get a credit or replacement. She was turned away with the managers response of they couldn't do anything that "all the lanes were clear so it had to be in the bag." This is unacceptable! What if the clerk placed it in the bag for the shopper behind me? This is the only thing I can think of to explain what happened. I had a terrible experience with this same Target at Christmas time last year. Be warned! Target and target.com are not the same but their business practices are. They can never make a mistake. If the should, and they do, the customer is screwed. I will now go to the BBB and Facebook on this matter. All this for a $23 shirt. read more

This Target is in a really convenient location and is very clean and not too crowded. Compared to other Target's it just didn't seem as stocked. The kids clothing sizes were spotty with 2T being really difficult to find. The diapers were sold out in a lot of sizes. The organization of the store was confusing too, with makeup being right by refrigerated items. If they did a little bit of reorganization and stocked it properly it could easily be great. read more

This is the WORST target store ever! If you really look, you'll see that this manager likes to separate things that should be placed next to each other. Things are moved around every three weeks. I always have to hunt to find what I need. When I express my frustration to employees, their response is "how do you think we feel?!" It's insane! The psychology behind this is that you stumble across items that you wouldn't normally see, as many of us buy the same things all the time. Especially fun when you run in there for last minute items. They have no respect for their patrons time. Also, it can take two months for them to restock an item. I've been to the Vernon Hills Target, and I also shop at a Florida Target, and these problems do not exist in those stores. That's okay, Lake Bluff Target isn't that far away. read more
