Great experience. Booked for an eye exam and the dates are not too far out. They send you a check in the day before to make sure the day of goes smoothly. Got there and there was practically no wait time. The staff was very helpful in getting my first exam and guiding me through the process. It's that time of the year you know the feeling (it's no fun) to get your annual doctor visits in. Physicals, teeth cleaning ect. Once October arrives the days and weeks seem to fly by. I had one appointment that I was looking forward to, my biannual eye examination. My vision needed a tune up and my old glasses were on life support they had a rough 24 months. Target Optical was my choice I made my appointment with no problem 3 weeks ago. Optical department is at the opposite end of the store entrance as you enter. I was greeted by 2 technicians as I made way in and found a seat. Store is bright and clean with a nice selection of of premium frames and sunglasses. I had a short wait before Alfonso asked if he could help me. I told him of my appointment he pulled up my info on his computer I had preregistered which saves time. Signed a couple of forms and we were ready, I explained my concerns with my vision as we moved over to a series of examination machines. Stefanie the other friendly technician came over to assist, the store had slowed down to my advantage. Both technicians explained each I test I was given. We then moved into another room to get down to the fine tuning I completed a series of vision tests and had my eyes photographed by Stef. & Al they were a good team and were comfortable using the exam equipment and computers. They explained all the tests and information that we were gathering would be reviewed by the optometrist. I was feeling special Optometrist would be joining us on the 50" monitor mounted on wall in front of me. WOW things have changed Dr appeared on the monitor she introduced herself and was very pleasant and professional I think she said she was down in Torrance. Dr was still being assisted by Alfonso & Stefanie We went through all the exams and tests taken earlier by Al & Stefanie We went through many slides on which on which looked best they were no hurry if I need to see it again. I was very satisfied with this type of examination every test was explained and all my questions were answered. My time with the doctor was 20 to 25 minutes she was excellent. We finished up and went back into main area. I still had Alfonso & Stefanie to myself, they helped me select the perfect frames and explained the cost with my VSP insurance discounts I would recommend Target Optical and especially Alfonso & Stefanie they were great!! see you in 2 years read more

I needed to buy glasses and I heard that a target had competitive pricing so we went this afternoon. I was waited on by a nice guy named Alfonso who greeted me immediately and explained the covid procedure for trying on glasses. They had a really good selection and they also had a sale going on so I did end up buying two pairs. He called my insurance company and got the company to let me buy my glasses a week earlier than I was approved for. They also had a good warranty program and I got two pair for 399.00. I highly recommend Target and Alfonso for great customer service and a great selection of frames. read more

My family and I have always gone to Target Optical and David in optical has always taken very good care of us. He's not only super attentive, knowledgeable and personable, he also has an amazing team! I usually go to a different optometrist so this was my first time being here. First impression was that I was attended the moment I walked in. I had already made an appointment ahead of time which made things go faster. I was seeing by the optometrist within a few minutes. During the whole time he asked questions to make me feel comfortable during the whole eye exam. Oh target, how I love everything about you! I decided to give their optical department a try, mainly because they offer appointments on Saturdays (which is the husband's day off and we both wanted to get an eye exam). They also offer online booking for appointments which is super convenient and quick. I called the corporate Target phone line to try and find out if they accepted our insurance but unfortunately they weren't too knowledgeable in that department. They asked me to call the optical department in Bakersfield directly and try and find out. The only problem was they were closed so I had to wait a few hours for them to open. I do wish corporate had that information since it would have been helpful. I was able to get a hold of the optical department quick though, once they were open. They did accept our insurance but couldn't let me know what the copay would be until we came in for our eye exam. It turned out to be $10, not bad at all. We showed up for our Saturday appointment and they were a bit busy but they seemed to be moving along quickly. The doctor gave us our eye exams and our prescriptions right away. They have plenty of frames to choose from, designer brands mostly. Both for men and women. The frames are pretty pricey though and they really tried to push sales on us. I overheard two of the workers talking about how they get bonuses for each sale, which makes sense, but definitely adds pressure to them wanting to sell. We didn't find any frames so we decided to just take our prescription. Like many other optical places it can be taken any where else for fulfilment since it is good for a year. About a week before the appointment they called me to reschedule for October, again another month out. annoying but things happen so I understand. Then the day before the rescheduled appointment I get a call again that the doctor is unavailable again. At this point you wasted two months of my time. How unprofessional that this doctor will take appointments and cancel whenever they feel like it. Won't be going back here at all read more

Once again, I'm appreciative of Dr. Tong and the staff at Target Optical. I'm always anxious about the puffs of air that are directed into your eyes, but Fidel, an optical employee, was patient and got it done. I also got my eyes dilated and Dr. Tong was careful in putting the eye drops in my eyes. My eye sight had changed, so I picked out new glasses. Doctor Wang was kind enough to let me try another pair of contact lenses because my eyes were still getting dry, but now testing the new ones out. Thanks Doc! Found out I was going to be Bakersfield for a business trip, and realized I also haven't used my insurance yet this year. Gave them a call Friday afternoon and they were able to squeeze me and the gf in Monday morning. Saw Dr. Wang Monday morning, typical checkup, but with updated and new machines. Never been to a place where the doctor can change the lenses from a computer. Pretty cool. So after the exam we started talking about contact lenses. I have never been a fan of contacts, and use them sparingly (only with sports). They dry out my eyes and after 6ish hours the astigmatism lens starts getting scratchy and I end up blinking alot in the 1 eye. My past 2 doctors both said that was normal, to use eye drops, or to get use to it. Dr. Wang chuckled and asked me to try a new brand. He also gave me a different prescription to have astigmatism in both eyes, as my eyes needed it. My old prescription only had it in one eye and the doctor said this would reduce the scratchy feeling to just 1 eye, even though my glasses had astigmatism in both. It was also interesting that my prescription that hasn't changed in 5 years changed a bit, in both eyes. Was this coincidence or were my old doctors being lazy, or were their machines inaccurate due to it being older? Anyways, I popped in the new lens, and look a few times . I thought I had dropped it. These new lens were so comfortable I couldn't even feel them in my eyes. Way to go Dr. Wang! It's been a week and I've been wearing these contacts 16 hours a day, everyday. After long days of staring at the screen, my eyes aren't bloodshot like they are with the other contacts, my eyes don't feel dry and they don't have any scratchy feelings. Dr. Wang didn't quit here, he also asked me about my travel life, and recommended I look at some daily contacts to supplement with my monthly for the days i'm on the road to prevent having to carry bottles of solution through TSA. After my exam I looked at a few frames, the customer service was great. The guys in the store looked my old glasses, changed out the nose pieces, wiped it down and my glasses felt/looked new. I ended up using my insurance all on contacts and was able to continue with the same pair of glasses. I was in and out with new contacts in 30 mins. My new contacts was shipped home and i got them 2 days after the exam. Dr. Wang is through with the exam and takes the time to get to know his customers. Don't let his look fool you, he may look young but knows his stuff. I'm considering going back next year even though I live over 100 miles away! read more

Fidel helped me & he was outstanding with everything from the new patient paperwork to telling me about what my plan covered & helping me find glasses & sunglasses They have a nice variety of brands & styles, much more than LensCrafters imo. Over all the exam wasn't bad but I feel like I didn't get the information or a good explanation of contacts. I left with monthly's and I've already tore more than a few I use great solution I properly take them out every night and cleaned them. But I feel like these contacts are not for all day wear. I contacted target optical and I never received a call back it's been almost over 2 months I feel like once you purchase and leave they don't care about you. They took my money for something that isn't working out for me and I will continue to call and see what they can do and see if the doctor is ever in the office which every time I call they continue to tell me he is not. read more

This place was awesome! I was helped by 5 different team members over my 2 visits and all of them were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I felt so comfortable. On my first visit the optical associate helped me pick out frames-I am very picky-and he was so patient with me.
