I scheduled an appointment on Friday, September 19, 2025, for Tuesday, September 23, between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. I received a reminder text the day before and confirmed. On the day of service, they texted me again at 11:27 a.m. to reconfirm. I didn't see it immediately but responded at 12:53 p.m.--still within the appointment window. By then, they had already canceled and said no one would be coming. My phone shows no missed calls from them. I had someone waiting at the house during the scheduled time, and they simply didn't show. This was a complete waste of time and shows total disregard for the customer. I do not recommend this company to anyone. If you value your time and want reliable service, look elsewhere. Absolutely horrible experience. read more

After having a need to deal with Tarheel Appliance Repair I was asked to do a review. So, I first read the other reviews, and observed some similar issues. Apparently, over some time, these have not been addressed by the company. Always a red flag. My involvement was at the request of the manufacturer who was in CA. They were very responsive and sent the needed replacement parts immediately. Once they arrived, I called Tarheel, and got the voice mail runaround everyone mentions. To their credit they did call back, and left a voicemail. I found that amusing, since I wondered how many times they would let that occur before deciding it is ALWAYS necessary that a business answer phones during business hours, rather than an endless stream of phone tags wasting their time and the customer's time. But once I was finally connected I got an appointment within a day or so. That turned out to be with Tim, their Service Manager. Tim was on his game. Called me to confirm he was coming and when. Showed up right on time. Brought ALL his tools into the house that he could possibly need, which I always look for in a professional. A very cordial fellow, your classic and competent repairman. I asked pertinent questions of him as it went along. He was able to nicely answer without a hint of annoyance. I even asked about his opinion on another unrelated connection, which he provided. He gave me his card before he left. Most of us who know a reasonable amount about repair issues, cannot really express the relief that occurs when we come face to face with an experienced professional. Instead of having to perform "Customer Supervision" we can relax. So, although this was a minor issue, I have filed away Tim's position for any future issues that might arise. I have rated the interaction with Tarheel a 4 for the most part based on Tim's performance, with deduction for the customer phone call interaction on the business line. In the future, I would likely be found guilty of calling Tim directly. read more

Company never shows up and never returns call. I've been waiting for over 8 weeks for a part for my microwave which they "diagnosed" over the phone. After too many repeated calls and texts they set up an appointment to finally come. They won't call, only texts, but as you can see, they don't even know why or what they are repairing. Instead of a person calling you back, you receive an automated text. Tim came to our house at least 3 times because we had to keep calling them because the issue was never fixed. I've had Tim at Tar Heel Appliance Repair fix my washer, dryer, and two of my dishwashers over the past 5 years. He's always been a good communicator, professional, on-time and competent. Mfg. GE set up appt with Tarheel Appl. Repair who came out on said date, prior to phone confirmation with both company and tech. Zack advise the problem with washing machine and order parts to complete repair, took about a week for parts to come in. Donna called and scheduled an appt, constantly communicating with us to assure tech will be there, sure enough, Zack came out at scheduled time, replaced the parts and was finished within 20.minutes, advise if any problems, call back and he'll be back. A lot of people complain about using their warranty and getting repair people that do not care or give them a run around. My experience with TARHEEL APPLIANCE REPAIR LLC was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a repair service. Our repairman Allen was the best!! I want to explain something about a home warranty. Reading a lot of prior reviews they are giving Tarheel a lower score. It is the warranty that does not cover the repair or is not approving it. I could not believe with COVID and the situation I was left with to not have a refrigerator working at first. Allen helped the situation repairing what he could so that I could still use the refrigerator and then he came back to finish everything else. when the parts came in. Allen saved the day!! read more

Like others we've had to deal with Tarheel because of our 2-10 Home Warranty (I cancelled the warranty because they keep sending this company). They've taken two months to fix our washer. The first time they came out they said they needed a part, fast forward to nearly a month later the tech came back and just kidding apparently they needed another part. The office NEVER answers the phone. Apparently they are always on the other line. In the voicemail it says leave "one" voice message and you can hear in the girls tone they must get multiple calls from the same people. I'd wager better customer service and fixing peoples appliances would help with that. read more

He quickly diagnosed the problem....an electrical wire had vibrated loose on my dishwasher.....and corrected it. (a situation that a dishonest person could have abused by diagnosing a more costly repair). CRIMINALS! Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company! The reviews do all of the talking... They have come to fix our fridge 4 times before finally admitting that they didn't know what was wrong with it. Trust me, I didn't want to use them but was forced to by our warranty company. I even had the owner come to our house twice to diagnose the fridge and he also couldn't fix it. The worse thing about it all, every time they came to our house they charged us a $75 deductible. Yep, $75 deductible to tell me they didn't know how to fix our fridge other than "throw as many new parts at it as they can." This company is TERRIBLE! They were selected as a contractor through our home warranty company. The freezer handle on our French door bottom mount refrigerator had broken off and the unit is leaking. The repair was requested in July 2022. Its is now the end of December 2022! I understand parts being on back order and supply chain issues, but when you say you have the parts, but then ordered the wrong thing which causes a further delay. They NEVER answer the phone. I've been on the phone with the warranty company who calls them with me on the line and I've tried calling them myself. They NEVER answer. Its like pulling teeth to get a status update. Short of physically going to their store location (which isn't far), I' don't know what to do. I have to keep a towel on the floor next to my fridge and the leaking has gotten so bad, its starting to damage my floors. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY if you can help it! read more

Tarheel Appliance drug out and misdiagnosed a simple fix for a clothes washer over 3 months. The technician recommended a full rebuild of the washer, then left us in the dark without returning any phone calls for weeks on end. They never answer their phones, never listen to messages, and when they do answer, they are very unprofessional. We ended up cancelling the order with them after being without a washer for 3 months (with absolutely no contact whatsoever). Even though they advertise themselves as "certified LG techs", supposedly only the owner actually holds the certification. The techs that he sends out (in their own personal cars) are not certified and appear as though they just rolled out of bed. After contacting LG directly and requesting a new tech, it only took 5 minutes to diagnose and fix the issue and a part was overnighted to complete the repair. Tarheel takes contracts as the lowest bidder, receives the money from LG, then places you on the back burner with the excuse that they are waiting on more parts. Shame on LG for allowing this company to represent them. If you need your appliances fixed correctly or within a reasonable time, never use this company. read more

I called Tarheel on 9/9/2020 at 9:00 am and left a message that I needed to schedule a service call on a Thermador appliance. I received a return phone call on 9/10 at 5:40 pm. After answering several questions and sensing that there were a bunch more, I told Dawn that we were just sitting down to dinner and asked her to please call back the next morning. It's now 9/14 and still have no return call to set up an appointment. Dawn does an awful job at getting back to people. The recording when you call is that business hours are 9-4 but they NEVER answer the phone during that time. Tim did great on the repairs the first time they came out to fix my oven but the horrible way they treat customers trying to schedule a repair are a deal breaker for me. Horrible service. In an attempt to expedite parts for a repair of a brand new GE Cafe Dishwasher GE sent TarHeel to house and they diagnosed 3 parts needed. GE planned to send parts direct to my residence and that bothered them. They refused to give me part numbers and they refused to conference with GE so we could get them what they asked for. GE decided to send parts direct to me and they did. Box arrived today. Since they did NOT get parts and would NOT accept me bringing to them they decided NOT to proceed. Fortunately GE plans to have service person here next week on Tuesday from GE not third party TarHeel. They seemed good initially but I am suspect now why they wanted parts to them. They claim they have to inspect first in the shop. Almost stating they do diagnostics. Meanwhile they left me and decided not to complete the work. I would NEVER suggest these people read more

They are unbelievable slow to respond and I found myself being the one to coordinate communication between THA and the manufacturer. There was a lack of proactiveness and understanding of what the instructions and parts needed would include. Let's face it, when dealing with a home warranty company they tend to have the bottom of the bucket companies doing the repairs/work for them. I've come to exercise a bit of patience when it comes to these companies so I may have a more "experienced" view of what to expect from the companies they send. Sometimes I'm pleasantly surprised by my experience. Tarheel was one of those companies. They scheduled an appointment timeframe, and called 30min before they arrived. Fixed the issue (required no parts) and took the time to explain the issue (I knew what it was and actually was able to tell them before they ever showed up). At 6 we tried to call to see what may have gone wrong, but only answering machine saying they were closed and that we could leave a message for someone to return our call another day. This is, by far, the worst service company in the Charlotte area. First of all, it takes them at least a week just to return a phone call, email, or text message. Secondly, their repair technicians are neanderthals when it comes to appliance repair. They have absolutely no idea what they are doing. They told us one of our drum rods was broken...it was not. It took them over 4 weeks to get a part for our washer (we called the manufacturer and were informed that the part was readily available and we could receive it in 2 days if we wanted to order it). The only reason we started dealing with them is they were the company that our warranty provider selected. Word to the wise: When you buy an extended warranty on a home appliance, make sure that Tarheel Appliance is not on their list of providers. read more

We just had Tarheel Appliance service our dryer and Zack did an excellent job. He had the part on hand and had it completed in about an hour. The service from the office was not good. They were scheduled to come on Wednesday and I had called to confirm on Tuesday and like other comments they never answer their phone. They returned my call on Wednesday saying they couldn't come that day but could come on Thursday. I'm not sure how you can run a business by not answering your phone. read more

The scheduling person is rude and takes forever to return calls. Their pricing is not fair. We started the job as a hone warranty repair. When they discovered it wasn't under warranty the cost went up 25% from the original quote. We only finished the job with them because we had already paid a $100 fee for them to diagnose the problem. Do not condone business with Tarheel appliance repair. My review is base off on our experience with them through our warranty. If your warranty refer you to them, please do not use them or ask for a full refund. We were referred to Tarheel Appliance repair through Warrantech. Our glass stovetop cracked and needed a replacement. And yes like all the other reviews, if you call them, they won't pick up but they will call you back. They gave us a grace period on what time they'll show up which was 8 am to 12 pm each time. The first time, a guy came out to check out the crack, took pictures, and got the seriel number to order the part. Two weeks later, the technician came out and took the entire stovetop off while waiting on the first guy to bring the new glass stovetop. Right when they took the stove part out, of course, it was the wrong color. At this point, I was giving them the benefit of doubt having read all the reviews about them already. The first guy told me he'll have to contact GE to order the right color and we'll have to wait another 4-7 days. Not only that after the technician put the stove top back, one of my burners didnt turn on and my hot cooktop light has been on since. My husband ended up stopping by their building just to double check if they ordered the right parts for our stove. Two weeks later, here my husband recieves a text from Dawn Doster office manager that they have received the wrong color again and that Warrantech will reach out to us within 24-48 hours. We didn't recieve any calls so we contacted Warrantech and at this point, all they can do is refund us the money back for our warranty. Not only that, the status that Tarheel appliances repair provided for them was complete. That was very false. Again, this was base off of our experience with Tarheel Appliance Repair. The dishwasher was not working properly and the technician from Tarheel came and do nothing to fix it and charged on top of it $85 even he did nothing and had a bad attitude and even don't care that we paid for the warranty. We had to use Tarheel Appliance for our dishwasher because it is the company that GE uses. The guy quickly diagnosed our issue and came back after the arrival of the part to repair our dishwasher. Unfortunately, the original diagnosis does not appear to be the issue. I called them again to come back but they said we have to go through GE. Reached out to GE and they resubmitted the repair request but said it would need to be covered under Tarheel's warranty since their repair didn't actually correct the problem. Tarheel said they will come replace the previously repaired parts but if that's not the issue (which likely isn't since the dishwasher still hasn't worked correctly), we will have to pay for the service charge and additional repairs. Tarheel got their money for the original repair and now are refusing to come back and actually fix my dishwasher. I asked to speak to the office manager but the receptionist wouldn't let me. I was referred to them for a dryer repair covered by the manufacturer. GE came out twice before for the same issue and it still happened again. Tim did a thorough check and found the real problem, overlooked by both GE techs. A major part had to be ordered so it took almost a week to complete the repair, but at least he was able to get it working until the job could be finished. read more

Technician named Allen came out today to service a request through Lowe's extended warranty plan. I've had 3 other technicians come out to resolve the same issue with no success (from another company). He immediately recognized the issue was and was able to replicate the sound. First tech that's come out and ACTUALLY PULLED THE FRIDGE FROM THE WALL! Novel concept apparently. He did a great job and was friendly and efficient. Also spoke with the office staff this morning about having the tech come early in the afternoon and they happily obliged. I'm very happy with my experience. read more

I do not like giving bad reviews for local businesses but I have to make an exception. My fridge stopped working. Lights were on but all my frozen foods were melting and the food in my fridge was no longer cool after I came home from work. I have 2-10 Home Warranty and filled out a service request and they subcontract with Tarheel. I hadn't heard back and had a fridge full of food that was going to go bad so I called Tarheel. No answer, just like some other posters have said. I left a message explaining my situation. I had one day that I worked from home so was hoping they would come out today since my schedule was more flexible today and then I work 10 days in a row (sometimes up to 12-14 hours a day) in which I can't just not show up to work. I called my home warranty company and they called TarHeel appliance. I heard from the 210 representative that the TarHeel representative told her that everytime you call, you are moved to the back of the cue. Even the 210 representative was taken aback by this. I feel like that is just telling the customers that they have no respect for customers and are actually rather vindictive about customers calling them! I work in healthcare and yes, we have rules but we understand life happens and that there are extenuating circumstances so we also make exceptions. When Tarheel finally called me back, they had no availability today, evenings or weekends and suggested that I call 2-10 back so they could choose a different subcontractor. I would recommend that 2-10 pick another subcontractor other than TarHeel. read more

I just received a service from Tarheel appliance and I have to say they did a great job he came and he replaced what he told me he was replacing and took care of it promptly I did have to wait for the part but that was expected everything was good my water dispenser is working fine it seems to taste OK I'm hoping that the ice cubes will do the same and we're all good read more

They came to inspect my washing machine which was broken.. they came to look at it, told me that it needed a new part.. I was confused because the man was rushing out the door right after I wrote him a check, he didn't tell me when to expect a call, when the part would be in, anything.. he was like "I'll call you next week". It's been over a week, no call.. I've left messages and no one calls me back. I'm very frustrated because I can't do any laundry and due to my home warranty I am stuck with this terrible company read more

The worst!! My home warranty contracted them, I should have researched before I accepted. I paid $100 and they said my dryer was fixed. Two days later the dryer wasn't working (1st time I used it after being fixed), 2 days later I contacted HWA. Now I'm being charged another $100 because I waited to long, so HWA says, to report it. Plus the representative from HWA was rude and condescending. If this is an example of the contractors HWA uses, I will not be renewing my contract. If it doesn't work this time, I will be reporting them both to the BBB. read more

I had a similar experience to the ones above... They must hire some real winners at this company. My home warranty came with this idiotic company to do the work when things break. Well soon after moving in, our dishwasher broke. I called to make an appointment and the earliest they could come was a week and a half later.. So I do my dishes by hand for a couple weeks, then the day finally comes. Someone showed up to check out my dishwasher.. Mind you.. This did come with the home warranty but we still had to pay $75 for them to come look. Anyways, he spends some time trying to figure it out.. Thinks he knows what it is, then says he has to order the part. A week later he comes back with the part. It was still not working.. So he decides it needs a new control board which also needed to be ordered.. Another week passes.. He shows up with a BLACK control board for my all white dishwasher. I was so mad but wanted a dishwasher so badly that I said whatever and had a two-toned dishwasher. He fixes it and leaves. Two days later, it's broken again. I call, leave messages... It took 5 days for someone to get back to me. So they ordered the same control panel in white this time and come back out. It worked for a good 5 months and broke again. I believe this company uses faulty or refurbished pieces to "fix" things. I would definitely call this company a scam. Needless to say, I didn't feel like dealing with them again so I am buying a new dishwasher. Worst customer service, workers, and all around worst company ever. Zero stars from me. We have had these folks to our house 5 times to fix our stove through a home warranty. A month later... We have another appointment for them to come out next week. I feel like a fool because I am just now realizing that they are scamming the home warranty company out of money and are wasting my time! My oven hasn't worked for a month!
